To echo Ruths sentiments, it sure stinks that another Monday has rolled around and time marches on. That was great that Joanns offered free shipping yesterday- plus it sounds as though they had a great yarn sale. I try hard not to order from Joanns unless they have free shipping. Bet that it was a good price on POL- and Joanns is usually stocked up on all the colors of that yarn. I have only used the antique white, are all the other colors the same? I have seen in some yarns in which even color changes the feel of the yarn and even though its still the same weight, it feels different..
Slept ok last night. Not sure what today has on tap for me. I am hoping for a quiet day. Had something funny come to mind last night- I ordered new checks last night because I am running low- to find that the last time I ordered new checks was last July- almost exactly a year ago.
Its a bit cooler here, but still humid. I did open the windows to get some fresh air in the house. Will most likely close the house up again around 10 when the temperatures start to climb. At least for a few days its supposed to be a bit cooler here.

Ruth, I will be praying for your Ds and her roommate. Pneumonia is no fun and a serious disease. Hope that it is an accurate diagnosis and not Covid. I would think that she will know if he has covid if she is contacted by a state contact tracer- so you have to hope too that if he was tested for Covid that the test is accurate. I hear that some of the tests are not providing reliable results. It must be difficult for her not knowing what his health status is.

It's much cooler today! Tomorrow, too. This summer is turning out to be warmer overall than last summer was. The longer days are wonderful, the early mornings and evenings are just right for me. I would like to think about AC, and hb wants the heat on. Six of the next ten days will be in the 80s. That's cool for some places! No humidity either!
I crocheted a few rows last night, but I'm just not motivated right now!

The coupon I used was on the Joann's site. There are about six coupons available there. The free shipping one is good until Aug 1st so if you need anything it's there and all you have to do is click on it. I was thinking during the night that I must not have seen all the colors and there are a couple I still want but do I need them...hmmm...I don't think so.
Found out that my sister's roomate also has probably copd . He was a heavy smoker she said. And he also had diabetes. Haven't heard anything today so either my sister is at work or she hasn't heard anything either.
I hardly ever use checks. I think in the past year I've used 3. The place I get mine from keeps sending me emails telling me to order more. I haven't used any of the last ones I ordered yet. I have a lifetime supply.
Ginny, I do hope you get to have your quiet day that you're hoping for.
I finished the square I was working on but don't like how it looks with the carried color showing so I think I'll rip it out. At least now I know I can do a graph on a c2c
Sue,it seems as though in every family there is one that likes it really warm and the other likes it cooler.

In my family, I was the one who liked it cooler and Dh liked it warmer. Sue I am glad you got some crocheting time in, what are you working on?
Ruth - hope you got all the colors you were interested in for POL. Thanks for the heads up on the free shipping coupon. Is there a spending minimum? Well COPD is not good news - especially if he has pneumonia. But its not COVID. Hope he can be treated effectively and go home soon.

phyl, I used to get swollen glands in my neck (my grandmother called them "kernels") when I was a kid and had sinus or ear infections. Hope yours is as simple as that I chatted with Brother this morning (pretty useless overall, she was reading from the same booklet that came with the machine..). I did do some more digging and it may be that I'm using a stitch that doesn't do reverse stitching - though I can't see why, it's a straight stitch -but there are about 6 different straight stitches on the thing, so I'll play around with that tomorrow and see if I can find the right one.

I like it warmer,my dh likes it cooler.
Ginny, the antique white I think is the softest of the colors but they are all...well what I've used so far....are all pretty good too and they all seem to be the same thickness which is definitely a plus. The coupon is good for free shipping if you spend over $25.

gramma14, so sorry about Dave, but maybe this will be a good thing, so he's not constantly fighting and stressed. portable bobbin winderI did not know there was such a thing! If you're sewing a lot, I imagine this would be worth it so not have to stop and wind extra bobbins!

hi, I have an appointment in the morning..yes I will mention it. my PC knows about it.the PA will be told. thank you Dot. I am hoping it is from the sinus.
years ago probably was 8-10 on my top of the left shoulder I had a large bump/hump.got lots of penicillin back then, now allergic to it.
those bobbin winders have been around for along time.the first one out would notwork on Mary Jo's viking.some machines you can wind the bobbin while sewing.they have come out with one that will work for a viking.
my pfaff I could.
think I can on my brother.I will have to look. I wind a few bobbins at a time. then I don't have to stop and wind. when going to a class or retreat I wind several bobbins to take with.saves time. phyl

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your DS's roommate. I'll hope for the best for him and your DS. Phyl - Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. From what I can tell Pat Sloan is not having her followers post pictures of the Jelly Snowflake quilt blocks on her regular website like she usually does. I haven't figured out a better way to look for pictures of other quilter's Jelly Snowflake blocks but to skim through Pat Sloan's facebook page (which is very irritating since the posts aren't in chronological order). I did try just clicking on Photos (over on the left side of the facebook page) and that was a bit easier: www.facebook.com/groups/QuiltWithPatSloan/There is also an Instagram page and you can see some pictures there. I'm not an Instagram member and if you aren't then the page only lets you look for a little bit before a popup stops you from going further: www.instagram.com/explore/tags/jellysnowflakeqal/It's still been warm here, so I'm not doing much outside. I did get the flying geese portions done for the Block 2 of the Jelly Snowflake and hope to get the 8 blocks together tomorrow or Wednesday. Another block came out for the Silver Linings quilt along today, so I need to pick fabrics and get that done. Those are the small 6 inch blocks. And I tried making one of the Lemoyne Star quilt block from the video I posted and it went together very easily. I used 2 teal fat quarters for the star portion and a cream fat quarter for the background. I have enough of the fabric left to make 2 more stars so I'll do that and make them into a table runner or wall hanging. Hello to Ginny, Sue and Rene! Hope you are all getting to do some crafting, staying cool and staying well. Take care

Well I think I already had enough yarn to last the rest of my life but now I'm sure of it. I think I mentioned that I ordered yarn from Herrschnerr's because they sent me that email saying they missed me and gave me 30% off. Well the first order seemed like it didn't go through. I got no email saying thanks for my order and no confirmation number so a couple days later I got another order together...got 30% off again so was now sure the first didn't go though. Well I now have two gigantic boxes of yarn and several of the plastic bag things they use to ship all full of yarn from both those order. And of course I have all that pound of love coming from Joann's.
CJ, I'm glad to hear that the LeMoyne star block was easy to do.. I may have to try it when I take time off crocheting. I have the site bookmarked. I love flying geese. I'm glad you were about to complete those too. I also have one of the little contraptions that you use to make them. That was the most fun in the one series of quilt classes I took.
Thank you all for the kind wishes and prayers for my sister and her roomate.
I'm in the process of doing Sid's head and body over. The neck is just too long. It's easy to do though so no problem but I was planning on having him done today. So now, maybe tomorrow

Good morning all- nice to see all the posts and it looks like I missed a lot.
Ruth, glad that you have done so well in your yarn purchases. There is a lot of great gifts, afghans, hats etc....that you can make with that yarn and its fun to think of the projects you have planned for your purchases. Are you going to keep all the yarn from Herrscheners? Sounds like your fix will get Sid looking perfect. I remember you mentioning that his head was a bit floppy. Shortening the neck ought to help solve that problem. Prayers for Dave- and your Ds too. Hope that the medically induced coma rests his body so he can heal.
CJ- you are having such a productive summer! The Lemoyne star block is so pretty - and dramatic. Bet it looks great in the teal and cream colors you picked. Pat Sloans sights are so busy- guess there are many “out there” quilting and posting. How is her healing process going after injuring both her wrists?? Hope you get some cooler weather- here I have a few slightly cooler days and evenings.
Phyl- prayers that the lump is not anything serious. I am glad you are getting in quickly for medical attention.
Rene- its SO frustrating when a company representative is just reading from the same product manual you have and has no knowledge. Hope you can get to the bottom of this issue and are able to figure out that you can get your machine to do what you want. Do you have a local dealer who can assist?? I hear that those who quilt a lot and make large projects wind several bobbins before even starting. That way there is no disruption once you start, it makes sense.
Cooler evening last night and it feels great to have the windows open for a few hours. Heading over to see Dd#1 and her family for a little while. I ended up seeing them for about an hour yesterday as DGS#2 had his first check up (he did great and has already gotten back up to his birth weight) and Dd needed to have her stitches checked. (The two offices are only a few hundred feet from each other). So while DD was in her doctor and DSIL took the little one to the doctor, I watched the 3 older kids.
Sue- hard to want to crochet when its so hot- is it still warm where you live? Hope we can all get some crafting in.... Ginny
