Phyl I hope they do a biopsy to ease your mind and will be praying for good results.
CJ, well we can tell you're planning on a lot more quilt tops since you bought a whole gallon of Best Press. And it does sound as if you're attempting to use some of what you collected over the years. It's fun to collect then later fun to see the stash go down as you complete things.
Ginny, yes your dd might as well be at your house staying cool rather than at home alone while her hubby is out.
Well Sid is done to the best of my ability. I'm not very good at sewing on parts and he has quite a few that needed sewing on. Next the baby Yodas and I'll still be working on the crystal waves blanket.
Rene, have you started the blouse yet. I never have learned how to do buttonholes so wouldn't be able to do a blouse.

Rene- Bill Cosby’s initial reaction (where he turns away from his son to hide his laughter is PERFECT. Now as a parent, how many times have we dealt with our kids like that- trying so hard to discipline them when deep deep down what they did was actually funny?? When I was working full time, I had many interactions like that, where I had to tell my students to stop doing something (usually because it was unsafe) and knew that their behavior had to stop, but inwardly I found it hysterical. Anyway, I am completely sure that if you made that simple blouse that it would come out very well. Give it a try!! The biggest problem I see in sewing is in pattern selection and then having the right fabric to obtain that look. You know, if a pattern calls for a fabric with a nice drape, making sure your fabric will provide that. It sounds like you have already found the perfect fabric and I would give it a try. I have faith in you!!!
Ruth, I say this to the person who can de tangle the most poorly written crocheting instructions, even instructions presented in other languages. Buttonholes are EASY. I am sure your Janome does them, and if you followed the instructions you would do just fine. Bet you are glad that Sid is done, and as we know you are very critical of your own work, I figure he looks great.
CJ- Ruth brings up a great point- you must have plans on doing a whole lot of quilting if you purchased a gallon of Best Press. Do you use the unscented?? My friend once bought scented BP and she thought it did not perform as well and left a residue. I have always gone with unscented.
Phyl- prayers for good test/biopsy results.
Got up early enough to get my walk in before it broke 72 degrees. Dd and I got to church - now she is off to a picnic. I will see her in a few days. It was nice having her here, even Ds enjoyed spending time with her. Two more days of this hot- hot weather and it cools down a little bit.
I did start to sew on the binding- with a queen sized quilt its gonna take awhile to finish. Hope to find something good to watch on TV to hand sew the back and finish the project.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny and Ruth - I normally buy the 16 ounce Best Press bottles and they can run from $8-$10 each. I got the gallon for $50 and it is equal to 8 of the 16 ounce bottles, so it's much cheaper to buy the gallon. I always save several of the empty 16 ounce bottles to use for other things, so I have several I can use to refill from the gallon. Actually the gallon was all they had in the store, so I really didn't have a choice in what I bought I was just happy to find the starch - they only had one gallon container (no 16 ounce bottles), and now I won't have to go back to the store again to buy it for awhile. It feels strange going in the store now, it's like everyone you encounter could have the virus. It's very hot here (feels like temps over 100). Hope it's cooler where you are. I started on the BQ2 quilt today and have mostly everything sewn together - just need to add one piece to each of the 12 blocks and then I'll be ready to figure out how I want to lay out this quilt. I only had to rip out one seam - but it was the whole length of the fabric about 40-42 inches The cream fabric is very hard to see which is the right side and that's the piece I put on backward. I'll be checking out Slow Sunday Stitching blogs at Kathy's Quilts website today. Hope all of you are getting some crafting done. Take care and have a great day!

CJ- I hear ya about just being able to find the best press. When I was in HL a few weeks ago I bought some of their version - in a small spray bottle- its good enough but as you said, you spend a lot of money on it. Looks like Joanns.com has the gallon of it for $34.99 this week- I wont buy any just now but its nice to know that it can be bought. Gosh when you are making a quilt you go through so much of it. And if you wash fabrics first a lot is needed to restore the fabric to that new with sizing feel. I hear ya, its odd going into the store and not necessarily a comfortable feeling. So sorry to hear that you are experiencing such hot temps- I have them here also and its no fun. My friend keeps on asking me to go over to her pool- seriously I am just happier inside working on my quilt. So sorry you had such a long seam to rip out. My online quilting buddy has an electric seam ripper- never heard of one- boy I bet that would have been helpful for you. It sure is a struggle when you cannot tell the front from the back of the fabric. You accomplished a lot today getting so far on the BQ2 quilt. Yes, I am looking forward to seeing what you determine to be the final layout of this quilt. Its so neat that we can see all the work you are doing!!!
I got almost all the binding sewn on the front of the quilt- now just have to join the pieces and finish it. Then its time to flip it over and start hand sewing on the back. For some reason the final join of the binding scares me (when you attach the two ends to each other to close the binding.) Yes, I know how to do it and have done it before. This being a queen sized quilt, well it seems as though there is a lot more on the line. Anyway, I will be working on that shortly. Then its going to take a ton of movies for me to hand sew the binding on.....the end is near.
Hope everyone is having a pleasant Sunday. Another Monday looms just around the corner. ginny
