Oh great. I have chronic runny nose, as well as a persistent cough. No one is going to feel safe around me!

I don't think those are new symptoms, I feel like I've been hearing them for months.

they may not be new, but they are newly added to the CDC list of symptoms. i'm guessing they were not there before and they are trying to put together a somewhat more comprehensive list of symptoms.

Of the 3 people I know that currently have covid...
1. Has loss of taste and smell, digestive issues and had a migraine when it began. Her first symptom was her beer tasted funny at the 4th of july party.
2. Cold symptoms.
3. Textbook. Fever, cough, achy, nausea, exhaustion. He's on day 10 with little improvement.
Seems we can pin this thing down.

Her first symptom was her beer tasted funny at the 4th of july party. So she was one of the carriers at the party?

She is a nurse at the Cleveland Clinic. The first inkling that anything was off was her beer tasted off. No one else at the party got sick but at 5 days, her husband got sick.

Jennifer, wow, and she is a nurse and should have known better. Sorry I don't mean to knock your friend but that is shocking. I hope she and her DH recover from this

i'm shocked too. a nurse went to a party during a pandemic. and i'm guessing no one wore masks nor kept their distance. shame on that lady if she gave it to any of the party goers and they are asymptomatic carriers who pass it on to someone innocent who will die from it, or not die but end up on a ventilator, or not die but end up with lifelong lung and other health problems.

I was thinking that with her non typical symptoms if she was not a nurse, she would not have gotten tested so quickly and possibly would have gone on to spread it unknowingly.
I know when the pandemic first started her floor was transformed into a covid floor, at that time she and her husband quarantined and it was for a couple months.
It was never used so they changed it back to a regular medical floor.
It all just confirms to me, no parties, no risky behavior, necessities only. I can't control how careful anyone else is but I can control how careful I am.

No one else at the party got sick but at 5 days, her husband got sick. i'm shocked too. a nurse went to a party during a pandemic. Jennifer , the incubation period is not over for those who may have been exposed at that party. I get FB posts from a group formed by nurses from a hospital I worked at over 20 years ago. Last week there were pictures posted of a party, a reunion of nurses from pediatrics. All age groups, and a special nod to a nurse who was celebrating her 76th birthday. NO MASKS, NO SOCIAL DISTANCING. Lots of photos of groups raising glasses, pics of them with their arms around each other, smiling, laughing. THESE WERE ALL NURSES, many of them currently working. I was horrified and tempted to rip them a new one but at this point I realize there is no use banging my head against the wall. It will have absolutely no effect except to raise my aggravation level. As I have said before---I effin' give the eff' up. ETA: Okay, I just went to that FB page and left a post. Nothing nasty, just that I felt that the photos, although lovely, were upsetting and gee what happened to masks and social distancing? I am wondering if my post will be deleted or if anyone will respond at all. What I actually wanted to post cannot be printed here.

I think anyone who knows that a working nurse or first responder is out partying without masks and distancing has a duty to report that person to their place of work immediately. Think of how many people a nurse can infect!

Think of how many people a nurse can infect! The one who posted the pics said they removed the masks "briefly for the photos" which I think is BS but I am sure that is the line they would use as a defense. Her last post to me was basically a "you do you and I'll do me" thing. Well, she's got that right. I peeked at her FB page (why these people don't put privacy controls on is beyond me) and yeah, she is a rabid anti-masker and conspiracy theorist. I really can't anymore. Tired of it all. Part of me thinks this may be the beginning of the end for all of us. We, personally, will simply keep going as we have been and hope that what we are doing is enough to keep safe. If not, well, we did our very best and it wasn't enough.
