I crossed over a new hurdle last night and finished all machine work on the quilt. Think I got about a foot done of hand sewing the binding on the quilt. I am excited to do this- it means I am approaching being done with this quilt! Never ever in a million years thought I would ever make something that looks as good as this. (And the long armers work covers/ distracts from a multitude of sins). Its going to take me quite a while to finish the hand sewing on a large quilt.
Its already 78 degrees here. If I get out for a walk it will be soon and it will be a short one. It looks like the weather here starts to cool down a little bit after today. Very thankful about that.

Good morning Ginny and all the come in or just read
Ginny, congratulations of coming to the end of the quilt construction. Yes It would take me forever to hand sew something that large. And it's so great that you are realizing just how creative you are. YOur quilt is wonderful and you are so talented to be able to do something like that.
I don't think I got in here yesterday. I started to write a post but got interrupted somehow. I was tired of looking at yoda's so didn't work on the three for ds. I have all the parts done on two of them just need to put together which won't be hard because the ornament...which is surprisingly large has 7 pieces but is easily put together and the coffee cozy all you sew on is the ears. I haven't started the stuffie yet. So last evening I started a hat. I need to build up my stash of hats to donate as I have only about six so far.I've been looking at patterns for hats that use more than one color so that I can use some of my yarn stash but I want them to also look appealing so that people will enjoy wearing them. the one I did last evening, though, has only one color. The pattern is called Ana beanie and it's a really nicely textured hat.

Good evening- Ruth, good to see you here....when I finished up here last night, I thought you had not gotten a chance to check in. Think it happens to most folks a lot....all good intentions to stop in and leave a post and then the phone rings, or the oven bell goes off or just life happens. Just glad you are ok. Gee, you have to make 3 yoda’s for Ds- how many total will you end up making.sounds like a ton of work from what you are telling us. Is it a lot of work putting them together? Guess if its larger then its not so bad, hoping that you can see what you are doing more easily. Bet working on a hat is a pleasant change, something not needing to be put together other than the crocheting itself. The Ana beanie sounds like a lovely pattern. I just checked it out and its a really cute pattern and has the different rows of stitching. For you, I would think it will be an easy pattern. The textures are so nice. What yarn/color are you making it in?
Busy day for me- I did some housework this am, then my friends came over to watch Poldark (only two more episodes to go!). Had bible study this evening. A bit of a busy day. I hope to get a few minutes in working on the binding. Tomorrow am is busy, then I hope a quiet afternoon. Ginny

Well indeed I was able to get about an hour of work on the binding last night. Hopefully by the time I finish it, I will figure out what my next project will be. Think I will start on the Christmas quilts for my DD’s so that they are done. Then will eventually return to the falling charms quilt.
Got a doctors appointment this am for my hip discomfort (which has actually been very good for about 2 weeks)- then will be running some errands. I hope to be back by midday. I did try to get a picture posted here, but will have to try the full process that CJ posted .

Wow, two quilts before Christmas...that will be an enormous accomplishment. You can do it though. I have no doubt. I hope all goes well at your ortho appointment today. I'm glad your hip hasn't been too painful the last couple weeks and I hope it stays that way for awhile. Of course, as you said, if you need surgery it's better to get it done while your young and can handle it better.
Just wanted to update on my sister's roomate. They thought he would be on the ventilator a week. He also had to have dialysis. But he is now off the vent, in a regular room, kidneys functioning and may be able to go home on Friday. He didn't have coronavirus. I wonder if he will give up smoking now.
I didn't get much accomplished craftwise yesterday.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - You should be very proud of that quilt you finishing up, it's stunning and I know a lot of work went into it. I hope you do get to work on the other quilts too. I know you can figure out the picture posting Ruth - I checked out a picture of that cap and it's really cute. I'm very glad to hear that your DS's roommate is doing well. It's very hot here, so I'm not doing much. I did finish up the BQ2 Carnation quilt top and I'm alright with it. I should have done this quilt years ago when I first bought the fabric, because my tastes/interests have changed since then. But I'm glad to have it done and I do love the carnation fabric. I'm not starting any other quilts right now since I have several projects going on. I did spend some time this morning organizing and putting away things in my sewing room. It's so much nicer to work when it's neat and organized. I've also been going through my list of quilt tops and I'm working on making a list of which ones I would want to hand quilt and which ones I might try machine quilting on my machine, and then which ones are large and I would want them done on a longarm. As much as I enjoy the process of making the quilt tops, it would be nice to get some of them made into quilts. Hope everyone else is getting some crafting in. Take care everyone!

Yesterday I had to pick up some prescriptions and go to the post office to pick up a package that had to have a signature. J the caregiver is in Tennessee this week.
All of our regular prescriptions are mail order. The doctor thinks my asthma needs to be under better control, so he's tweaking my meds.
Just checking in. It's going to be hot for the next ten days.
Yesterday I spent a long time talking to my DDs. They are such good people and delightful to talk to. I'm glad that they have developed a very close adult relationship in spite of geographic distance and very different personalities.

Thank you CJ, That hat is fun to make also. Yes it's a lot nicer to be able to work in an organized room. Wish my craft room could be more organized. It will be great to have some of your favorite quilt tops made into finished quilts. And yes our tastes do change over the years. I remember back in "the day" that ripples and granny squares were really great to do.Now I don't care for either one. Ripples have made a huge comeback and are being called chevrons but you won't find me making one although this morning I saw a granny ripple baby blanket that was really beautiful. I also saw a pattern for a blanket made in mitered squares that are crocheted together as you go.
Sue, our meds are mailed to us also. I think the local store that mails dh's actually delivered it to our door yesterday. We found it on the porch and no postage on it. It's hot here too for the next 10 days. I dislike all the inconveniences of winter but I don't care for this extreme heat. Even dry heat is not comfortable.Neither dh nor I could stand hot and humid both.
I did remember that I did more crafting than I mentioned earlier. I did a lot of finishing work on hats, etc that needed ends woven in and other finishing things and I did discover that I have more hats to donate than I thought but still only about 10 so have to get busy on that. I think I'll use Sundays as a hat day

Ruth- finishing off hats sure counts as crafting! good news that you found more hats to donate, so that when you do drop them off you will feel you have made a large contribution. Think the idea of using Sundays as a hat day is a lovely idea- and will help keep you productive. Also- knowing that Sunday you are working on a smaller project is motivating and a nice break from large projects. That is wonderful news about your sisters roomate! (I suspected he did not have Covid and am glad he does not have that). Quitting smoking?? You would think that after my DSIL in FLorida being very debilitated by emphysema and watching his father die from it that my DBIL would quit. But he has not....its a tough habit to break.
Sue- bet it was nice to get out of the house for a few short errands. You will, I am sure be happy when the caregiver returns next week however. Its truly a blessing that your children get along well- honestly their physical distance might help that! And its is wonderful that you enjoy their company and phone visits. Makes life so much more pleasant for sure.
CJ- agreed its just better working in a craft room when its better organized. glad you got the chance to clean things up and make sense of it all. Gosh while quilting it sure is easy to make a big mess and then not be able to find a thing. Getting this BOM long armed was a real game changer for me- I love the way this quilt looks thanks to someones talent (not mine!) with a long arm machine. And I gotta say, i do not love putting a binding on a quilt, but really want this quilt to be finished. You have made many smaller projects that either hand quilting or quilting on your machine would be nice alternatives, and give you the chance to truly finish the lovely quilt tops you make.
The Christmas quilts are lap quilts with Christmas panels. I am not anticipating much trouble with them- just hoping I can get some good use out of my new machine. Decorative stitching is one of its strengths and I would love to use some of those fancy stitches.
Got a lot accomplished this am with Dd. The doctor said that as long as I am holding up with the discomfort with Advil then I should proceed as I am now. Some days I take no pain relief at all (today being one of those days). She answered all my questions....and I asked a LOT. Glad I got to see this doctor and feel pretty good about the issue for now.
Well, gotta go set a mouse trap or two. Found a mouse in the shed which I had better take care of before it makes a mess in there.
Gonna continue on the binding tonight. Ginny

Hello Crafters Hope everyone is doing well today and staying cool. It's very hot here. I went outside earlier to pay the man that mows my lawn and took out some trash and recycling while I was outside (also got the mail). It took me a good 20 minutes to get cool after coming back inside. So I'm glad I don't have to go out again. Ginny - Hope you can work on your new Christmas quilts. I have so many panels, I just love them and have to stop myself from buying more. They do make a pretty and easy quilt. Ruth - I'm glad you found your medicine in that package at your door. Sue - I'm glad you are able to talk with your DD's. I'm hoping to finish the small 6 inch block for the Silver Linings quilt along. It came out on Monday and I have my fabrics picked - just need to press them and put the block together. Otherwise, not much crafting going on here. Take care everyone!

Yes CJ- this heat and humidity has been a challenge. I snuck in a walk this am- and like you it took me a long time to cool down after I came inside. temps in the mid 80’s and up (90’s and 100 too!) are just no fun. Hope that when you were out it was in the morning-and had not reached the peak of heat yet. It makes you feel bad for those who mow lawns and landscape- yes they get used to it, but its still so hot. This weeks Silver linings block does not seem to difficult- I love the different blocks that are a part of the quilt and the different ways to use a fabric group. Wonder what the mystery block (next week!) will be like. Anyway- hope you can stay cool and comfortable and that you do not have to go out until the heat breaks a little bit.
If things work out ok I should not have much difficulty making the Christmas panel quilts for the DD’s. last night I got one side of the binding hand sewn on- and plan on sitting down to work on it very soon.

It sounds as though you two are keeping yourselves very busy with sewing. CJ, your quilts are going to be even more beautiful after they are an actual quilt or table runner or whatever you make them into. Theyre fantastic already. Ginny I hope doing the panel quilts goes smoothly. Did you ever get the Christmas ornaments you ordered last year done or are they still on your list?
DH finally put the air conditoner on and it's keeping the downstairs nice and cool. He's not feeling too well today. Feeling dizzy but all the things I checked are ok...bp, heart rate, o2 level, etc. I think that he just needs to drink more water. Since it's so dry here, with the heat added, it's easy to get dehydrated
I worked a lot on my crystal wave blanket last night and got a lot done but there still is a great deal more to do before it's finished. And the strange thing is that I don't even know what I'm going to do with this one. It's going to be larger than most of the ones I've done so far this year. Of all the ones I've done so far the which way filet is my favorite. It's so pretty in the turquoise with the white border. I did get the safety eyes on the baby yoda ornament and the nose and eyebrows done but that's it so far. He needs his ears and then to have the front and back crocheted together. The cup cozy also needs his safety eyes put on, his little robe, and his ears.

Ruth, you have so many projects going that I struggle keeping up with them all. (I forgot about the cup cozy). What is your plan for the which way filet afghan? Is that baby sized or was that intended for a grandchild/great grandchild? Turquoise (my moms favorite color) is so very pretty with white. Somewhere along the days I missed that yoda was an ornament. (Cute idea). Now that makes sense why you might have to make several of them. Sounds like a very detailed face. What are your plans for the crystal wave blanket? So glad to hear that Dh got the airconditioner in- I will be praying for him that he feels better and the dizziness goes away. Hope he knows how lucky he is to have a nurse in the house to help him when he is not feeling well. Stay cool today (which you will with the AC in). Looking forward to hearing what you work on today.
Got an appointment with the bank this am. My local branch is closing and i still have some estate matters to resolve (the bank and i chose to not make these changes until a few months after Dh passed). Now my local branch is closing in 2 months, so I want to make those changes here- locally. Other than that I am unsure what I will do today. Another hot day on tap so I will probably stay inside and stay cool.

GOOD MORNING Yesterday's appointment went very well.Doctor Short was on call in the department. so anytime his buzzer peep he had to go help another staffer. he spent at least two hours with us.
DOCTOR SHORT really told us a lot and explained a lot and show us models of the thyroid.very over whelming. I can only remember a little bit.
THE lump on the right side is cyst. meaning it is filled with fluid.they will not touch it but keep an eye on it.
the left side has two small lumps that are hard. I have a NON-TOXIC MULTINODULAR GOITER. ALSO NON-TOXIC GOITER.
they did a biopsy. I should hear back by Friday.his staffer calls it will be benign
Doctor calls it will be cancer and samples will be sent to California, results back in two weeks.
there could be a Chance I will be set up with a surgeon if so.
he SAY 95% of the goiters are benign. sure hope I AM IN THE 95%. ONE DAY AT A TIME EITHER WAY.
I am set up for a 6 month check up in JANUARY. so they will be keeping an eye on me.
funny as Don says we have to many body parts. I say the Lord gives us all these body parts only to be taken out at sometime in our lives.yep the Lord does have a sense of humor.
a couple of days ago I made a mask using the creative grid template.
did size medium.watched the video on shabby fabrics and she did a large and it still looks to small for me.does not go under the chin.
have a good day. PHYL
