Ginny, I'm sure you'll do a great job on the sheetrock repair. My dh did some on our bedroom wall after he had to make a hole in it to get to the drain pipe for the kitchen sink. It took him forever to get the sanding done. I would have gone ahead and did it myself except that he thinks he's better at those things so I let him have his delusions I got my hat picked out for making tomorrow. This weeks hat is the Buckeye beanie. It's much like all the other textured hats. I started another doll yesterday...one of the weebee dolls.I'll work on that today. I might even start another blanket that I have in mind even though I haven't finished the Crystal WAve blanket yet.

hi crafters, I almost got the 4 snowflake first set of blocks done today. I am one who has to cut just a little bigger for my squares and triangles to come out right.
we went to church tonight.not much else going on.
I love the falling leaves quilt.I would have to make a smaller one for hanging if I DID. Phyl

Ruth, that buckeye beanie is adorable! I see it starts with the magic ring....and they seem fairly insistent that you use that. Wonder if I could make that hat- like I need another project. It does seem like a very cute hat though. Did you get any work done on the wee bee doll?? (Ok I don’t even know what a wee bee doll is!). Good to hear that you have so many projects going- I am sure you are never bored with what you are working on.
Phyl, how do you know how much larger to cut for your squares?? (Think I would mess that up). For the BOM we were told to make our seams a scant 1/4 inch- as the tolerance would be needed to assure that the blocks were the right size. That worked for me, for the most part. Its great that you have the option to attend church on Saturday evening. its not very common for Protestant churches to offer Saturday evening services. I have attended them though, when I knew that making it on Sunday would be really difficult. Good for you getting the snowflake blocks done- what color scheme are you using?
I did not make much progress on the laundry room, but I did start. Its going to be a lot more work than I originally thought- the ceiling needed sanding (got that done) and I can see a few stumbling blocks in getting it to look nice. Somehow I will figure it out- I will have to cover a drain pipe that goes down the sidewall— and I might just leave it exposed as i do not have the space to cut out a sheet rock cover for it. I figure this little project will take me all week.
Hope I can get a few minutes in on the quilt binding.
Gosh we are in for some hot weather. Yuck. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. Phyl - I'm glad to hear you had good news on one test and I hope the test results on the other one will be good too. My internet and cable was not working until late this afternoon. Since I spend most of every afternoon on the internet, I needed to find something else to do - not like there aren't a million things I need to do in this house But I decided to go through my quilt tops and I'm glad that I did. I have so many tops, and alot of them are just small blocks or table runner/table topper size. I sorted them into categories of quilts I really love or that are very large and that I'd want a professional to quilt, there are only 8 of those. Then I found 4 quilt tops that I'd feel comfortable sending off through the mail to get them quilted - I might use Missouri Star Quilt Company. Then I identified the larger quilt tops that I'd want to quilt myself on a rented longarm machine at a quilt shop. Finally I sorted out the rest into ones I want to try to machine quilt on my own sewing machine and the rest I would want to hand quilt. That left me with 14 quilt tops that I can't figure out whether I would want to try to quilt them myself at home or in a quilt shop. I'll probably go back through these again sometime and decide. Maybe now that I have them sorted better I can start trying to machine quilt some of them. I did find 2 quilts I'd quilted on a long arm at a shop and I pulled them out to trim and get the binding on. And I pulled out a Lone Star quilt I made several years ago that I want to add a border on, so I want to get that done too. I finished all my blocks for the Jelly Snowflake quilts (except for the final small middle block). I'm not going to sew these together until after I see how they designed the quilt top when they reveal it on Thursday. I have extra fabric so I'll probably put borders on these quilts. This has been a pretty fun quilt along, and I'll be happy to have the 2 quilt tops done from it. Take care everyone!

Phyl, I thought you always had to be exact in cutting. Since I really don't know much at all about quilting I learn a lot from you ladies
Ginny, at least one protestant church here has Sat evening services. I think it's mostly for young people. I'm sorry to hear that the laundry room redecoration turned out to be more work than you thought but I know you're going to do a great job. Can you build some kind of wood thing around it to make it look like a post of some kind. I'm sure you could make that hat with no problem.I never use the magic ring or not the way you're "supposed" to make it. All it actually is is a slip knot that you keep open and make stitches into then pull it closed. When they say magic ring I just chain three or four and do all my stitches into the first chain made. It turns out great and to me is much easier.
CJ, well you sure accomplised a lot since you couldn't get on your computer. Sometimes I think that I should just hide mine somewhere and forget where I put them so that they wouldn't take so much of my time. I couldn't do that though because then I would miss talking to all of you.
I did get quite a bit done on the Weebee doll but then pulled a bit of it back out because I had made a mistake and it didn't look good to me so now I'm almost back to there I was before ripping. I did get the yarn out for tomorrow's hat....that will be two weeks in a row! So far so good on that plan. I do need to make more than just one though to get enough to make a difference. Well then I have to find somewhere to donate them because I don't think the group is having meetings yet at the senior center but someone may be in the office to take them and give to whoever comes to pick them up to distribute. I'll have to email them and find out but I have time. Maybe the virus will be gone and everything will reopen by winter. Well we can hope.
I keep thinking today is Sunday. I've been mixed up on days all week.

Ruth, it does seem as though organizations that were closed due to the virus are slowly coming back to life as people try to figure out how to live while still having to be concerned with the virus. You are a perfectionist- and I am sure it looks great now that you have corrected for what you saw as a mistake. Just checked out a picture of them and they are so very cute. How big are they when finished??I saw all kinds of variations of hair- some in tiny braids, others straight, what is your plan? Not so sure I have the patience for a project like that and I give you a ton of credit for that. I have worked with the magic ring and really like it in that it leaves almost no starter hole. That being said I almost never had trouble with a hat with a hole at the top no matter what I did, I do tend to crochet tightly.
CJ, wow you have been busy. Think its a great idea that you prioritize your quilt tops like that- the mason jar quilt, how will you get that quilted??? I have heard good things about MSQ long arm service, just know that we are getting ready to enter fall and they will be very busy with Christmas projects. Its sure going to be neat to see what the final project (Jelly snowflake star quilt) is supposed to look like!! You are so talented and would easily be able to rearrange the blocks if their arrangement did not suit your fancy. Sorry you were without internet....but at least you had power. Its so hot out.
My friends came over last night and we finished watching Poldark. Sad that such a good series had to end....it did not end badly- just not as I would have ended it. (I would have gone on for another season! Ha ha ha). I did get a bit of the binding done.....while watching some news and then HGTV.
Two more super hot days here. BBL

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I sometimes have to look at the calendar to figure out what day it is, and then it only helps if I knew what the days before were Ginny - I'm glad you enjoyed Poldark and got to finish it. My mason jar quilt is on the list of quilts I would want a professional to quilt for me. There was a lot of work put into that quilt and it's very large. It's still warm here, but not as humid I think. I'll need to go out this coming week and I'm not looking forward to it. It's just easier to stay inside and home. I hope to work on my quilt that I want to add a border too. It's a Lone Star quilt which I'm really happy with and I want to make sure I don't mess it up. Then maybe I'll work on putting on the bindings on the two quilts I found that I'd quilted on a longarm. Take care everyone and I hope you get to do some crafting today

CJ- think I have the same or similar weather- it seems a tiny less humid, but just as hot. Perhaps a slight breeze to make it a bit more tolerable. I am so glad to hear that you will be sending the mason jar quilt out to be long armed. You put a lot of work and creative effort into that!!! Gotta say from my limited experience with long arming, I am very very happy with what she did with my quilt. Think that is a great idea to get the binding on the lone star quilt. Guess you still have to add a border to it- and I am sure you have the fabric all picked out and ready for that. Completely agree, its just easier to stay inside and craft.
I am enjoying the murder she baked marathon on TV. While its on, I am getting that quilt binding on. Have a great day all....

yes that Mason jar quilt definitely is a great candidate for sending out to a pro. It's going to be even more magnificent after it's a complete quilt. I'm glad it's a little less humid where you are CJ, definitely makes hot weather more tolerable.I hear you on the going out. Dh and I will be going out probably Wed just for a curbside pickup but I don't even want to do that.
Ginny, I've read all the books so far that the Murder She Baked series is based on. The last couple of them have changed quite a lot and went in a completely new direction.
WEll I completed a hat I found that was in with UFO's after I started this Buckeye beanie. I don't like the way it starts. I did use a magic loop because of the very large number of stitches she starts with and it's a good thing she warned that it would be a rippled mess because she was sure right and I would have ripped it all out.I'm on about row 11 and it still hasn't straightened out as she promised but maybe after another repeat of rows 5-9. We'll see. I'm sure I won't be making another of these. There are just as nicely textured hats that aren't so much trouble. I like the top down Katniss hat and the one called Mountain Ridges. Those two and the Ana beanie are my favorites. Another good one to make if you have yarn leftovers you want to use is the Pop of Color beanie. It mentions using variegated but comes out beautiful using two solids instead of a solid and a variegated. That's the one that almost looks like stained glass. I'll finish this Buckeye but that will be the last of those. It also looks as though it's going to turn out very large.

I don't want to go anywhere either! I'm hoping J will be okay when he gets back. They went to Nashville. Just to be on the safe side, I think I'm going to quarantine them for 14 days!
The cases here in the state doubled from Friday to Saturday and stayed high today. Nashville was one of the eleven cities on the list.
Today I washed towels so I can put out the new ones. There may be something wrong with the dryer. Things aren't getting dry.
I signed up for unlimited usage on my cell phone and wound up paying $20/ month less! That doesn't make sense! I use it all the time as my kindle reader.
