I'm enjoying the cool of the morning because it's going to be hot for the next ten days. I want to tweak a few things and plan for some iced drinks and cool meals.
Last night I scissor trimmed the two bichons. Today they'll get baths. After some brushing, I may be able to use the clippers to even them out. The dachshunds are okay, except for Maggi whose coat is very thick. She's good about finding a cooler spot and turning belly up. The dog groomers are far busier than hair stylists, but I'm not going out anyway!
The new towels are just what was needed! A spot of color and a change. Now I want to do some painting! I will sit still until that thought passes!
Think cool!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. Ginny - I like your choice of fabrics in the Irish Chain quilt, the light on dark looks really nice. Sue - Hope the doggie baths go well. The last dog I had hated it when I tried to bathe him Ruth - I like aqua/teal and white together too. I survived going to the grocery store today. I would never have believed it would be so much work to get groceries! I went early so the store wasn't crowded and I found most of what I was looking for. Still shortages of canned vegetables, frozen vegetables and frozen fruits. But I was able to get a lot of fresh produce. Then I went by the bank and was hoping to use the drive thru teller window, but it was closed. If it was broken I can understand, but if not, they should have that open so customers don't have to go inside. Fortunately I walked right in and was waited on, but I had already taken off my mask after the grocery store and didn't like having to put it back on. Hope everyone is doing well and that you get to do some crafting today. Take care!

It's a nice cool day here too today. I don't know what it's supposed to be like in the next few days
CJ, it's just the opposite here. The lobbies of our banks are closed and you can only go to the drive up windows. If you need to talk to a bank person about something like a loan or whatever or if you want to get into your safe deposit box you have to call and make an appointment.
The only crafting I did yesterday was one stitch on the doll I'm working on. That's when dh came up from his nap and we checked the store ad. Never did get back to crocheting. Sue, that's me also. I would love to have all the rooms repainted but am I going to do it now....NO

Good evening all Phyl- so very sorry that it was the sacroiliac nerve. Wow....it sounds so painful. Hope that whatever your chiropractor did to treat it works Pain can sure tire us out....glad that you took pain meds, iced it and rested. It will all help and I will pray that the discomfort goes down! Sounds like maybe you overdid it.
Ruth, like you, banks here you need to make an appointment to go into the bank. Drive up windows are open. Maybe you will get some crochetting done this evening.
CJ- its such an ordeal going out shopping these days. I have gotten to the point where I wear the mask in between stores so I do not have to touch is a such. That is not always practical- especially if its super warm out. Hope that you do not have to go out again for awhile...glad to hear that you were able to get fresh vegetables and fruits. And I hope that you can stock up on the canned goods that you wanted to also. Its always nice to stock up on canned goods that you use and keep you out of the store.
Sue-hope that the bichons are easy to trim and bathe. It does sound like a good job to do in hot weather...guess that is something dog groomers get to do when its too cold outside. So glad you like how the new towels freshen up the room!
Had my teeth cleaned today (very impressed with the level of safety by the hygienist and the dental office.). Tomorrow I am unexpectedly getting my driveway repaved ( I have a short driveway). There is a contractor working down the street and he gave me an excellent price. It will make snow removal much easier and it was something I wanted to do next summer anyway. So I will be home tomorrow, keeping an eye on that.
Thanks for the comments on the double irish chain ( and thanks CJ for posting it!). I used fabrics I had and found those that worked together. It was a very easy quilt to make.
Time to work on the binding. Have a wonderful evening all.

I posted this in another thread, but wanted to share here as well, for those making masks. It's a long, detailed testing of different fabrics for masks.
The "stretch chiffon" that's approx 90% poly/10% spandex, double layered and well fitted; and a layer of 100% high thread count cotton(they measured using 600tc, NOT quilters cotton that is normally under 100tc per inch) and 2 layers of the stretch chiffon was as good as the N95 as long as it's well fitted.

Rene, thank you for the info on the masks
Ginny congratulations on getting a good price on the driveway repaving. Even though you didn't expect to have it done right now it's a great thing to no only get a good price but have a driveway that's easier to clear.
CJ, I know what you mean. I was exhausted after getting home yesterday
Well I did work on the doll some, then made some boiled potatoes to have to slice up when dh feels like he would like to have fried potatos. I also put a roast beef in the crockpot with carrots, potatoes, and an onion, then made a lemon pie...no meringue. I used a graham cracker crust that I "baked" in the microwave. I cut up some really large chicken breasts into strips and will cook those this evening as dh likes to eat cold chicken strips and also cold fried fish when the weather is warm. Right now I'm going back to crocheting I think.
Phyl I'm glad the chiro visit was a success.

wow, where is everyone today? I've been working on the doll and doing some cooking. It was supposed to be another cooler day according to yesterday's weather forecast but it did get to at least 90.I think that tomorrow I have to get busy and do some more cleaning but who knows.
I hope all of you had a good day and were able to get in some crafting or something else you enjoy doing

Today was comfortable in the house until almost three. That's most of the day! Then the outside starts getting cooler at seven, and the fans are effective.
The university here is not planning to test students. Lots of flak about that because not everyone is local. Some will be coming in from hot spots in other states Unless something changes, there should be a big increase in cases about three and a half weeks from now and so on from there.
I trimmed some variegated dogwood this morning to help it back into its defined area. The dead junipers are really ugly. Have to call the tree guys to come cut them out. They're hard to work with. - the junipers. I've really enjoyed the textures, colors and heights. Rumor says it's the voles, but that doesn't make sense.
I may crochet for a while after dinner. Maybe.

Rene, thanks for posting that information about fabrics and their use to make masks. Good to know for sure.....
Ruth, sorry, i went to a walk, took care of a few other things and then got tied up with the driveway (which looks good and is done). Hope you got some crochetting in!!!
Sue, that sounds profoundly stupid not to test students. Did you get some crocheting time in today?
I also hung some sheet rock, and its not going as poorly as I thought it would. Lord knows I am not looking for perfect, just to see this area covered and looking a bit better.
Time to work on the binding. Ginny

Phyl- a good cleaning takes about an hour and I am glad you got your teeth cleaned. About 15 years ago I bought my first electric toothbrush and it was a super good investment. You do not have to buy the most expensive toothbrush out there. They last a long time (my first one lasted about 10 years- of course you do have to change the brush head every 3 months) and do a great job. I have bought mine at Walmart and Kohl’s. After getting a glowing report from my dentist and hygienist I bought them for my whole family. The basic model that I have is around $40- and if you use Kohl’s cash (if you shop at Kohl’s) you can get them pretty cheaply. After rereading your post, it looks like you already own one.....do yourself a big favor and use it. Glad to hear that your back is doing better.
Got a little bit more work done on the binding. Sooner or later it will get done. Ginny
