Long but good day. Ruth, thanks for that pattern! It looks to be the easiest I have seen (you know how lame I am with a crochet hook). Happy Birthday to Dh!!! So sweet that he will wait for his carrot. Cake for a cooler day. Hope that you do not have to modify the ribbed band much for the sword and shield.
CJ- too much rain is not a good thing and it would be so nice if you were spared too much rain. Its the one thing about home ownership- always something to fix or be concerned about. Relax you are doing just fine .....Love the broken dishes quilt. Think I like the pink and the teal blocks best but they are all so pretty!!! Well done!
My quilting today was having tea with pastors wife and looking at her BOM (which is pretty much just like mine) and we have been texting and chatting about quilting most of the evening. Pastor is out fishing....so she has time to text.
Have a good night all G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well and it looks like everyone is busy today - hope it's doing fun things It's only supposed to be in the 80s from now until next week around here, so that's not too bad. We had some rain this afternoon, but it didn't last too long. I'm hoping my lawn guy will get by soon, it's been about 3 weeks and my grass is getting high. I know he hasn't been able to work much because of all the rain we're having. I really don't like it when he cuts it when it's still wet, so I do hope there's a break in the rain for a day or so before he comes by. My father would have a fit cutting wet grass - he was very particular about the lawn and took great pride in it. I cut all the blocks and strips for the Oh My Stars quilt, so I just need to lay it out and then start sewing the rows together. I hope I can get some of that done this weekend. I was looking at the Quilt Along with Pat Sloan Facebook and saw so many quilts that I would love to make. I save the pictures of those I like and maybe someday I can make some of them. There was a beautiful Jelly Snowflake quilt with a red background and all white inside. I would love to make this quilt again using 2 colors. Take care everyone!

CJ, It's good to see you here. I feel much the same about my crocheting. While I'm making something I'm thinking about how I could make it with different yarn and different colors. There are so many quilt picture that I'm sure you see many that you would loove to make and probably have a list like I do on crochet. We live in a desert (high desert country) so we aren't very particular about the lawn. We usually have to mow twice in the spring then it all turns into dry grass and doesn't grow.
I did start a pocket shawl this morning...well my morning...it was actually afternoon. Not the $6!! I looked on youtube to get ideas and there was one woman who was not only doing hers widthwise but also showed her 9 year old dd wearing a child size one and gave free written instructions for the child size, which, of course can just be made larger for an adult or teen. She didn't say how old her daughter was so I wrote a message and she was kind enough to write back thanking me for coming to her site and telling me her daughter's age and said she hope my grandaughter will like it. Some people on youtube never answer questions.I should be able to get most of this shawl done today. It's so easy.
After dh got up we visited for awhile then I cleaned the kitchen. Still have more to do but I'm taking a break.

Ginny, I didn't know if yolu were going to crochet the dog sweater or do a quilted one but I saw that one and it looked really easy so thought I'd share. And no, you aren't lame in crocheting!

CJ- i have heard on the television about your area getting a lot of rain this summer.. here we are dry...anyway, Hoping that your lawn service can get there before the yard appears like a hayfield! I know there are so many great patterns out there for quilting...and so little time. Plus the expense of the fabric, made worse if you quilt it and add batting. Have you given any thought to what colors you would make the jelly snowflake in? the red background with all white sounds so very pretty.
Ruth- yes thanks so much for that pattern to crochet a coat for a dog. Yes, I was planning on crocheting it. I have a lot of yarn to go through and that would use it up for sure. That was so very sweet of that woman giving you information on the pocket shawl.....indeed some folks just like to be out there but not respond to others questions. And I agree $6 for a pattern seems high- bet you could have figured out something by yourself!!!
Went for a lovely long walk by a local lake this am....got a lot of housework done today. All in all been a busy day, but little time for crafting. Tomorrow is another day. Ginny

Two cooler days in a row! In the 70s. That makes me very happy! Now we're going to have several days back in the 90s.
The sprinkler guy was here this morning and replaced nine sprinkler heads. He mentioned that there is bear scat in the back of the backyard, on the other side of the chainlink fence. That must be why the woofers were barking and wouldn't come in and were barking a few nights ago.
There have been several high anxiety days during the last week. A tenant had an overnight guest who brought bed bugs with her. Yuck! The situation was caught early and the pest people were able to treat the situation when they came to inspect. Bears keeping an eye on for a while.
I'm on a crafting vacation for a while. I'm watching the colors of the berries and crabapples as they ripen! And - I'm anticipating the eye candy of colors that fall brings.
Today I saw a yellow warbler, and a hummingbird came to get a drink while the sprinklers were being checked! First warbler this year and a second hummingbird.
I'm several weeks away from finishing some paperwork I'm working on. In the meantime all the machines I have working for keep finding things I need to do like folding the clothes, emptying the dishwasher. Sooner or later things get done, but often it's later. I'm still not okay with having anyone in my house, so I pay the price for that in another way.

Good to see Ginny and Sue. Ginny, I'm glad you like the pattern. They seem to have a lot of them though so you might want to look thru all of them or have your friend pick one. No I sure didn't pay $6 (or anything) for the pattern. I did like the pattern that woman with the daughter had which was pretty much what I had in mind anyway and for the pockets I'll be revising it.
Sue, sorry to hear about the bedbugs your tenant's visitor brought. Dh and I were just talking about renters yesterday and how you never know what they or their visitors might do to your property.
Got all my work and cooking done so will sit and crochet for the rest of the evening

Hello Crafters - Hope you are enjoying your Saturday Ginny - Hope you did some crafting today since you did your housework already. The walks around the lake sound enjoyable. Sue - I'm glad to hear you are having some nice weather but sorry to hear about the anxiety and problems. Hope things get better soon. Ruth - Hope you were able to finish your shawl and were able to crochet again last evening. Phyl and Rene - Hope you are getting some crafting done. We had some cooler weather here today, but rain last evening and this afternoon. My lawn guy didn't come yesterday or today, but I'm hoping he'll be here on Monday or Tuesday since we should be done with the rain by then. When I was outside today getting the mail I checked my fig bush to see if there were any ripe ones. I see a few way up high which I'll have to get a stick to try to get down, but no ripe ones lower yet. I sure hope they ripen up so I can eat some of them this year. I laid out the blocks for the Oh My Stars quilt top so I'm ready to start working on it. I'm not that happy with this mix of fabrics, but at least I'm using this fat quarter bundle that I've had for many years. Take care everyone!

Here's the two fabric Jelly Snowflake quilt I was talking about. I love the red fabric this quilter used and it's so effective with just the two colors.

What a wonderful quilt! And I agree with you on the red and white one. The red is perfect. Got up this morning to find all the things that somehow get stashed under the kitchen sink were all sitting on the floor. DH found a leak in the water pipe under there so had to take all that stuff out. It's amazing the things we thought we needed to save. All are ready for the trash barrel now. We have the cold water to that sink turned off so will have to get cold water from one of the bathrooms until we get the parts to replace the leaky pipe...Weren't we just talking about what a pain home ownership is?

Owning a house is a mixed blessing! I love living in my own space surrounded by a park like environment, but the things that need doing, fixing, replacing keep adding up. Everywhere I look. But thank goodness we're here instead of stuck in a very small space in a senior community. I think that unless things are safer that things in my world will continue the way they are. That's okay with me.
The house stayed cool today even with the high temp at 85.
CJ, thanks for posting the photos. Your blue and yellow quilt is lovely. I find those colors so inviting at the tail end of winter. A good combo at any time, but especially after a long winter.
I have a wall hanging featuring blue and yellow that I did about twenty years ago.
The combo of red and white really brings out the snowflake pattern. Tempting!

Good morning all!
Yes that red and white color way for the snowflake quilt is striking and really shows the pattern off. Sometimes simplicity is best for sure. CJ- thanks for posting
Sue- enjoy being home.....and all that you have worked so hard for. As long as its safe and maintainable (either by you or hired help)- then that is the right place to be for sure. Hope your house continues to stay cool despite warm temps.
Ruth- your Dh is handy and can fix the leak??Yes, I have had the same thing happen- and found I kept way too much stuff. Why do we do this to ourselves?
Think today is going to be an embroidery day. G

Good morning everyone.
Ginny, my dh knows how to do some things but yesterday after he found that he had the parts he needed...so he thought...we started working on fixing (I was the "helper") we ran into complications and will need more parts so tomorrow we'll be going to find those and finish fixing. What we thought would be an easy fix turned out not to be because of the way the supply line was put on. So I washed floors and did some laundry.
It sounds as though you, Ginny, had another very busy day yesterday too.Embroidery sounds like a perfect thing to do on a peaceful Sunday.
Sue, Yes it would be great to have a handyman. During this time we have to count whatever blessings we have and not be stressed over the things that happen. Now THAT is not easy at times.
CJ, I hope you find some great things when you look online today. You did find a great one in that red and white. And your own quilt looks so peaceful.
