Guiding Light was my favorite. Â Always great when there was a Josh and Reva storyline.
Guiding light was my favorite, but I hated the pairing of Josh and Reva! No chemistry at all. She was a perfect match for Alan Spalding though.

Another World! So many great actors, I see them on old Law & Order reruns constantly. Also, One Life To Live, home to many wonderful actors.

For a very short while, after we moved and before I found a job, I became completely addicted to the ABC afternoon line-up.
Ryan's Hope, All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Edge of Night. I taught myself to sew while I watched.
Fortunately, that was a short-lived period.

Another World and Days of Our Lives. I started watching in college because one of my roommates did. Then I'd catch up when I was home sick from work, and when I was home after having my daughters. It was amazing how much hadn't changed.

Did anyone watch Secret Storm? I remember the storyline with Father Mark and Laurie. My grandmother used to watch that and would talk to my dad (who had no idea what was going on). She would tsk about it, but never missed an episode. That soap opera was only 15 minutes long when I first started watching it.

I used to watch Ryan's Hope, All my Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital. I remember the Luke & Laura wedding on GH and thought Erica Kane (played by Susan Lucci)on All My Children was a great character. I was especially invested in Victoria Lord on One Life to Live, played by Erika Slezak. Her story line of the split personality was genius for the soaps and allowed her to play many characters. I copied this from Wikipedia:
"The role of Victoria is the mainstay original lead character of the serial, and her storylines focus on drudgery, love, and family troubles. One of the longest-running characters on American daytime television, Victoria weathers widowhood (three times), divorce (four times), a brain aneurysm, a near-death out-of-body experience (three times), being shot (two times), sent to jail, suffering a stroke, breast cancer, rape, a heart attack, heart disease, a heart transplant, the abduction of three of her five children as infants, the deaths of two siblings, and the death of her daughter from lupus. Most notably, she suffers recurring bouts with dissociative identity disorder throughout the show narrative."
I always thought the writers of the soaps must have loved dreaming up different plot lines for their characters. And, there were great women characters on the soaps.

Whenever I think about the soaps I think of my mother and her mother (my grandmother) - both avid fans of the soaps Alas, I guess my grandmother was having memory problems in her later years and she would get the characters all mixed up - mix and match with different soaps. My mother would try to explain to no avail!🤔

doordie50, we finished the Queen's Gambit this weekend and really enjoyed it. I was worried that the movie would end badly for her; glad to see her succeed. Good story! Looking for other recommendations of things to watch on Amazon Prime or Netflix.

If any of you watched Julie Montague on her show, American Aristocrats Guide to Great Estates, on the Smithsonian Channel this year, you will want to watch the 2 specials arriving in December. Episode 1 is Called Mapperton Estate (where she lives with her husband, the Earl of Sandwich!) and will play in the U.S. on Monday, Dec. 7 on the Smithsonian Channel at 8 pm(CST). Episode 2 is a special filmed at the Castle where Downton Abbey was filmed and will air here on Dec. 14 at 8 pm (CST) Her shows are fascinating and really give insight into castles in the UK and how modern people are trying to save them. Her first season was a big hit and she will be having season 2 next year. Look for season 1 on the Smithsonian. ETA: Mapperton Estate

Watched "Your Honor" on showtime, stars Bryan Cranston as a judge whos son has a hit and run accident that kills a mob bosses son. First episode was slow, draggy for the most part, but interesting enough to make me want to watch another one.
