Even though I haven't gone back to my gym I've been keeping somewhat updated on what is going on. Between updates from my trainer and Facebook I found out that the owner of the gym just recently passed away. He'd been ill for quite awhile, so it wasn't unexpected. And although the gym was his baby he hasn't been all the involved recently due to his health. The manager has pretty much been running things. His wife is still alive, and he has adult children. At this point, according to my trainer, the gym will remain in business, but who knows if that will change. If this gym shuts down most likely I won't look for another one.

wow that's really sad about the owner!
if you don't do another gym will you just continue to meet with the trainer elsewhere? maybe the family will sell the gym to someone else so the gym can remain but under new ownership.

Yes, I can continue to meet with her. When it will get tricky is when the weather gets colder. She is already talking about what she might need to do as she has quite a few clients who have not returned to the gym.

Luanne, what about making a home gym in your garage for cold/inclement weather work outs? All you really need is a nice thick mat or two, or one of those that folds out to a big square, some weights, some rubber bands, etc. I'm sure your trainer can give you a list of what you would need, and you can buy all that stuff on Amazon nowadays. Easy peasy! You could even put a portable electric heater in there if need be.

We do already have a portable electric heater in there though.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'll pass. In the winter, it gets cold. Very, very cold. So my car stays in the garage. What my trainer is talking about doing for ALL of her clients who don't want to go back to the gym, is renting space where she can set up her equipment. If I equip my garage for me, that only takes care of one of her clients.

luanne, My nephew lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I was so surprised to find out how cold it gets in New Mexico over the winter. I thought it was like Florida with mild weather in the winter.

Judy in Santa Fe we are at 7000 feet. We get snow. Rio Rancho, which is lower, is generally warmer that we are, but they've gotten snow in the past as well. We've already had snow, we had a freak day a couple of weeks ago. Here is a picture looking out from our house during winter.

luanne, What pretty view. I'm assuming that is a string of peppers in the middle of the picture. Years ago I was friends with someone from New Mexico and we were living someplace else, and I remember her saying it wouldn't be Christmas for her until her mom sent her a string of peppers to put by her door.

Yes. The string of peppers is called a ristra.
