Happy Saturday, Louis - I hope your toe recovers soon. Brenda - we have no car or house to worry about and inexpensive health care that leaves lots of time for fun. I hope the basement is sparkling clean now.
We have arrived at the resort on Grand canary island, it is beautiful with a large terrace, pool and water views. I love it! I need to get in the pool. I set my alarm for 03:00 so of course I woke up at 02:00. Early night tonight. Debbie

Hello,
Happy Saturday evening to everyone.
Lou...I hope that the toe is better. Y'all got lucky with the storm not affecting your area. We didn't get the severe weather from the outer bands that was originally predicted. We got rain and some wind.
Brenda, I'm glad your plumbing issues are solved. I hope your basement is as good as new. If that snake was just a plain old black snake, it will help keep other pests away. Like you, I am not a fan of having snakes close to the house, even if they are the helpful ones.
Debbie, have fun on the latest adventure. It sounds like most of the people in Spain are doing what they need to do to keep the numbers down.
Waving hi to Vicki and Lori, I hope you are both doing well.
Our local half marathon announced that it is going virtual. It wasn't a surprise to most, although some people are being cranky about it. It is a disappointment but 2020 is pretty much a wash for in-person races. I trained with the group for 9 miles this morning. Our governor announced this week that Indiana is staying in stage 4.5 until at least September 25. The mask mandate remains in place.
I had a tailgate breakfast in the McDonald's parking lot with two walking friends after our 9 miles. We were going to go to a local restaurant but they are only taking call ahead orders and they were not open today. The McDonald's was only about 5 blocks from that restaurant so it was an easy Plan B.
It's a quiet weekend around here. I've got the NASCAR race on now. I took a short nap this afternoon so hopefully I will be able to stay awake to see the finish.
Have a great evening, Ginia

Happy Sunday, Virginia - how do you do a virtual race? I’m glad the storm didn’t affect you. Most of the people here are following all the rules and those over 65 are being very careful. Not everyone of course and they pay fines when caught. Lori - congratulations again on the well deserved award.
Today is a lazy day. We did walk around and explore the resort so my steps are almost done. The resort is so empty it’s great for us, plenty of pool chairs to choose from and maybe 3 other people in the same pool. I am still tired from early travel yesterday. We have a nice 1 bedroom unit with kitchen and washer, the terrace is so wonderful I did Blogilates on it with a nice ocean breeze. It is so cool for me after all those years living in Florida to now be on the other edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The only other plan I have is sunset wine on the terrace.
Happy weekend everyone, Debbie

Hello,
Happy Sunday to all.
Debbie, how virtual racing works depends on the race. There are some races which are virtual only that you sign up for and complete your distance on your own and report your finishing time, then you receive the race shirt and/or medal in the mail. What I’ve seen this year with the pandemic forcing planned in-person races to go virtual are two options, depending on the race organizers. Option one is the scenario described above. Option two is that the planned race course is published and participants can opt to do the race distance using the official course. The finishing time for each participant is still reported on the honor system. I think our local race course will be published so that participants can use it. Otherwise as long as you do the honorable thing and complete the distance and report your time by the specified due date you can do the miles where and when it works for you. I’m glad that Spain issues fines for the non maskers. I wish the US would also.
Today has been a quiet day at home. I took a nap again this afternoon. It was a short one so it shouldn’t mess with tonight’s sleep.
Back to work tomorrow. I’m working all week but a lot of people are taking Friday off in order to have a four day weekend.
Have a great evening, Ginia
