WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C77D10, 7 water, SFT + 3 WPs, all ghgs except only 2 dairy, 1522 calories (421 sodium gms under goal), 5519 fitbit steps, STF-9, G21 Y1 R4 March.
Edesia β Having siblings that are involved is a big plus. And congrats for not using this as an excuse to binge. Unfortunately there are no good solutions. Itβs a matter of settling on the least egregious situation. Wishing you a new weight decade. This morning I was down 3.4 from my recent high, 4 lbs to go for free WI. Seems interminable.
Jan β I think mental is worse than physical. Good luck with the foot. Anxious to hear what they suggest. And yes, I decided to return to MFP for the time being. It really goes fast now that most of my foods are already entered.
Jane β Sorry the argument didnβt turn out well. But how wonderful that your weight is rapidly decreasing. Not so for me unfortunately.
Cindy β Sorry about the gain β but it looks as if you are doing better. How has early to bed been working out? Still trying that?

Hi Girlfriends! KC8pm Treadmill Nancy, it has helped me getting to bed earlier because last week did most of my eating at the first of the week and bed earlier the last of the week. I really feel more rested, mental attitude better. Lori, let's hold hands! Off to get groceries and prep and then have baseball game tonight. DGS's name has been in the paper twice this last week on his hitting. Love ya'll, Cindy

Good morning, all. Had another free-wheeling weekend (eating-wise); today is back on the beam.
Lori: Baby steps. Way to go.
Nancy: Your family get-together sounds wonderful! I bet your DH is so excited (and you as well). Make some sweet memories & take lots of photos.
Jan: Glad you're enjoying the book. I found it really encouraging. Parenting teens is not for the faint of heart!
Jane: Re. home schooling, we had a variety of reasons for choosing to home school, and yes, a big one was wanting to nurture our kids in the Christian faith. But I also did not (and do not) think that little ones thrive in an institutional setting. At first we home schooled our DD "just for one year." She was/is extremely gifted, and I didn't want her either bored or skipped up a couple of grades. Each year we evaluated our situation and continued to choose to home school, until it became very natural. On the socialization question, I did not want our little ones socialized by other little ones. I saw in my own life the negative consequences of bus ride and playground bullying. We didn't hide in a closet; our kids did music, Scouts, sports, and church activities. The kids also grew to appreciate the free time they had to pursue their own interests. They transitioned to public school in 9th grade - this was a small, rural-ish school in AZ. Pros and cons to that choice, but there were not many good home schooling options for teens in a small town. They both did well, although DS had more difficulty because boys were just much meaner if you were a "good kid," a good student, and a musician (which he was). It did surprise me when he and his wife decided to home school their oldest for kindergarten this year. They send little videos of the science experiments they do and the field trips they take. So cool (they're in a huge home schooling area - suburb of Baltimore). DD is using a very cool curriculum and support group that focuses on Classical Education (the Trivium, which comprises Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric). Her biggest challenge so far is getting the older boy from Haiti caught up. He's learning to read (age 9), but it's slow. This is probably WAY more than you wanted to know!

I am on day 22 and have been successful for 18 of 21 days. However, I feel myself getting sloppy. I had a chicken skin issue yesterday. Plus, I had trouble sleeping and decided to eat a whole wheat bagel thin with whipped butter in the middle of the night. My justification was that it was past midnight, and I would count the calories I consumed towards today's breakfast. That worked out. However, it is not a promising sign.
Okay, here is what bugs me about having a food issue, particular one with sweets. A friend posted an article on Facebook about a bunch of places in our city that have special and apparently-delicious cookies. The friend does not have eating issues. She added her own words to the post. They were something like, "Doesn't everyone just love a good cookie?" I was envious that cookies are not emotionally charged for her! Oh well, that should be my only issue in life.
Meg, I found your comments on home-schooling to be fascinating. It is an area in which I have an interest, but almost no knowledge. So, thank you! Cindy, congratulations to DGS and your family! I need to get back to work, so I am just waving hi to the rest of the gang.

Afternoon, BFF's! I totally carbed out yesterday in the late afternoon and evening. I didn't even eat a real dinner although I did have some vegs as I was cooking. Today will be the opposite. One can only hope.

Howdy folks!
Meg...loved the details about the home schooling...so interesting.
We had a blast this weekend with my uncle and the hockey tournament. Managed to get in some exercise on Saturday (1/2 hour swim) and sunday (an hour of badminton) despite the 3 hockey games that were an hour away. We arrived a few hours early for Sunday's game and spent an hour or so wondering around exploring the area. Found a lovely little cafΓ© where we had a delicious lunch.
We even managed to get most of the laundry done over the weekend so we're not too behind for the week!
I've got tomorrow off and am going to play pickleball in the AM en route to spending the rest of the day with my folks. Will be packing breakfast, lunch and snacks.
happy day all!

Cals 6/6 K 6/6
Hi ladies! I decided to try going sweet-treat-free Monday through Friday. I used to do that all the time; I'm not sure when I got out of the habit.
My foot appointment went well. My heel is quite sore. He worked on both my foot and my calf for about 20 minutes. I'm going back next Monday.
Lori, sugar-free is a good place to start. I have no doubt that you'll be back in the game in no time.
Cindy, I love watching my youngest play baseball! His last three games have been canceled, I have no idea why.
Jane, I hate when I eat in the middle of the night. K closed has nipped that in the bud for me. I also don't think it's fair that some people can have just one cookie, or part of a piece of cake, and stop there. It sets off a chain reaction for me. But you're correct, first world problems.

One little home schooling anecdote: DD invited us to go with them to the Art Institute (Museum) last Friday for a field trip. It was pretty cute seeing the little ones point out paintings they knew. When we came to the room dominated by the huge Seurat piece (Sunday on La Grande Jatte), they all rushed forward so they could see the little dots. When DGS9 saw the series of Monet haystack paintings, he said, "I drew that!" Love it.
OK, NOW I'm done!

C30. D3! On vacation and that is why I've been absent for a while. And I'm rocking healthy eating on this trip. The trick is avoiding sweet treats and eating lots of seafood.
So great to see everyone checking in here. I enjoyed catching up a bit π.
I'll check in as I'm able. Such nice family time.
Kathy
