moonriver, Denise, Pookie is such a cute name. We had a cat a long time ago that thought he was a dog. Bright sunshine and and 88Β° here. Went to opthamologist and eyes are still blurry from 3 different drops. My eye is still a mystery. New doc thinks the virus from April is still lingering so I am back on antiviral. He says I definitely don't have glaucoma and my optic nerves are fine. He took a picture of the two nodes so he could discuss with other experts. If not cleared up in 3 weeks, I will have to go to the expertsβ expert in Kentucky just over the border from Cincinnati. I still have high pressure so am still on drops to reduce pressure in eyes. And the saga continues .

Thanks for the start, Chele. Happy National Dog Day to past and present doggy parents and their fur children. It sounds like π news and π news at the opthamologist. At least you know you don't have glaucoma or optic nerve issues. I guess the high pressure isn't a surprise, given that you have your DM's π. Do you have an appointment yet with the expert's expert? If it's viral, it just may take some time to clear. Fingers, toes, and paws crossed here. I noticed cornbread on the menu. Is it as good as your homemade? I guess you need to give Iggy your order when he is going there and add the cole slaw. Yes, I do miss my Phoebe, as much as I have bonded with Arya. She is so sweet but is such a coward, very much unlike Phoebe the Fearless. They have been just so different.
Kathy, we may not get that much from Laura. The 2pm advisory has us moved from the 2-4" to 1-2" rainfall. It made it to a Cat. 4, which is scary. We got wind from Marco (18mph so no real biggie) but the rain missed us. Are you expecting rain today? Amazing how covid cases dropped once they closed the bars! Are a lot of UCF students on campus? UT has really spiked the Knox County caseload. LOL on "Taste Like π" for my exhibit. Too much of an inside joke. The sign the big goofy chicken is holding (one of the main characters from the movie, Chicken Run, which I have never seen) says "EGGΖ§ 4 Ζ§ALE". The sign on the truck says, "GOOD EGGΖ§ CHEEP" (chickens can't spell). I hope I do win on a couple of them. This is the first year I haven't thrown something together at the last minute just to have something to enter in 3 different categories so I can get a pin at the awards dinner (pins are apparently a big deal for MGs). So it would be nice for the effort to pay off.
We had a good DVR of our own when we moved here, Becky, so we didn't sign on for the Hopper. It is only capable of recording one show at a time, so we'll have options when this one dies and we go with the latest version of the Hopper. Are you going to Taylor tomorrow? May as well celebrate for the entire week. Are you going to get any rain from Laura or is that going to mainly be east of you? I saw your governor on The Weather Channel while I was at the gym.
Linda, yes, we never fully recover after we lose one of our fur babies. YAY for Micki!! Do they think it was just a reaction to something that drove up his blood sugar so high? Is he off insulin now? The Sicilian Butcher sounds wonderful! I hope it's close to home so you can go more often. Have there not been many Pacific storms this season (at least so far)? Warmer winter doesn't sound like fun but you're right that at least it's not a back East winter. The trends usually follow Australia, but I haven't paid attention to how their winter has been so far.
If Pookie stays close to home, Denise, she's a good kitty. Is she an indoor cat when you are working at night? Your cat thinks she's a dog and my dog thinks she's a cat. She was in foster care with 6 cats and really bonded with one of them. Sorry about your pouring rain. Becky or Linda would love some of it.
Liz, how's the week going?
I dropped off my exhibits at the fair this morning. If they keep them watered (except the hens & chicks), they should do ok. I tend to enter things into the fair that I'm not attached to because they usually die or at least sickly due to the temperature, light conditions, and sporadic watering. I don't think it's as hot this year, so maybe they won't roast like they did last year. I usually drop of my stuff about this time every year and they either didn't have as many people pre-register their exhibits or the number of exhibits is way off (or both). They usually have 2 or 3 pre-registration lines and there was only one today and I was the only one in it. Tomorrow is the last day for drop off. I am now officially a member of Workout Anytime. I was there around 11 and there were only about a dozen people working out and, while none of them were wearing masks, everyone was diligent about cleaning the machines when they were finished. I think it will do well for what I need. Did I mention the reACT Trainer they have? It reminds me of riding a wave on a surfboard but you hold on. They start you out on 1 minute and after I was finished with that, I probably did about 5 more. You can do squats and lunges on it and it works the entire lower body plus core. I'll start going Tuesdays and Thursdays next week. This should be a big help with Osteo. I swam this morning and the water felt great. And no geese or boats to be seen. I did 900+ and would have gone farther if I hadn't had so much to do this morning. I'm a little tired and sore but did OK for not being in the gym since that one time in May.

Chele, sorry to hear that your eye saga continues, but that's good news on the glaucoma and optic nerve. Hope they clear up soon. Our pets sure make a lasting impression on us even if they're not with us that long.
Karen, they said about 25% of the students are on campus, so about 15k. I haven't heard of any major outbreaks (yet), but they had some students test positive right away. We haven't gotten any rain in the past couple of days, but our rainy pattern starts to return tomorrow. The "feels like" temp was around 105 today, so I'm ready for that to end. That's good that neither of us is getting much from Laura. It's turned into a monster and doesn't look good for LA. The storm surge they're predicting is unbelievable and that area is so low to begin with. I just saw where our search & rescue teams are heading out there to help. I haven't seen Chicken Run either, but the exhibit is really cute. Hope you bring home some awards. The new gym sounds much better for what you need. I've never seen the reACT trainer, but it sounds interesting.
Liz, thinking of you and hoping you're having a good week.
Hope everyone has a good evening.

Karen, good luck on the fair this year. I would be very leery of places with people breathing hard without masks. I am six to ten feet away from the ones doing little in masks!
Chele, I really hate health mysteries. Hope the new doc figures it out. Virus stuff Iβd weird...had a friend with a really bad back for half a year...from a virus! I can't say I understand it. Hope COVID is not like a pox that returns as shingles or something later.
read that a vaccine will give a different better lasting immunity and that natural immunity after this virus is not long..people getting it again. Either that or they had false negatives and thought it was gone. It can last a long time, not just two weeks.
Micki got a little extra walk late morning from me at last. 112 later but at ten it was not too bad
got more d. Earth poofed around the house foundation and under appliances. The heat and drought drives bugs to seek water and AC. I like to Discourage them. Bad enough if the go up the house side and down the fan and plumbing pipes on the roof! They pick up the stuff on their feet On the way up and dehydrate and die by the time they arrive. Flying Turkish roaches and Palm bugs are just a good reason to close doors fast! I once saw a scorpion leap off the fuzzy back leg of a schnauzer years ago as DH came in from the walk. Such fun here. Put out some ant bait under a flower pot with places they can get through because it is getting to be that season and I do nit want carpenter ants setting up shop for winter.
Change of plan...had checks from let insurance to deposit, mail to mail, dry cleaning to fetch, so I decided to finish the no fun with the mall. It opens at 11 now and I came into Dillard's at 11:05 and found a couple pairs of sake summer pjs. Zipped through short end of empty mall to Sees for a bit of chocolate. next door to Macy's , so I went up the escalator to get DH some underwear. Down was not working and those long steps are tough on knees. So another lady and I found the elevator. She told me go first so we would not share small space. Then it was out to the parking lot. I think I saw five customers in all!
now the mall is right next to the Sicilian Butcher ...so I stopped at their mini bakery/deli/ gelato for a couple more Aroncinni stuffed with rags to go with the dinnerware got yesterday.
got home , washed hands and tossed it all into laundry.
It felt so good to be out and about ...pretty much no people except clerks. Almost like normal except for hot mask , trying not to touch much, and soooo much hand sanitizers each time back to car. And I have chocolate! last time I went to the mall was March 3! Probably in four weeks we will get a surge from school and ASU 13,000 back with opened dorms. So no idea when I can go again.
Still have bathrooms to clean.

Thanks for the start Chele.Scooter thinks it's national dog day every day. Linda I hope you can get rid of those high temps soon and have the regular 100's for this time of year like we do. moonriver Pookie is such a cute name for a cat.I have 2 inside cats and one big dog who thinks she is more of an inside dog than outside especially this time of year. Chele It's good you don't have glaucoma. At least you know what it isn't but it sure would nice to know what you do have. Karen Did you post Arya's picture on Facebook for national dog day?A lot of my FB friends were doing it so I took a pic of Scooter and put it on there too.Dish claims you can record up to 16 shows at one time with the Hopper 3 but that includes the Prime Time Anytime shows. We are still thinking about going to Taylor tomorrow. It was funny this morning. We were getting ready to go to town and Scooter was in the house. She started whining as we were turning off things and she was really insistent. She didn't want us to go but she didn't want to stay inside either. We got to Elgin and it started raining and we weren't even expecting a morning shower. We only got 2/10" but she was trying to warn us.That is all we are expecting out of it.It will be a bad one according to TWC.Is workout anytime the challenge Anytime Fitness is running now?I saw something on FB about it.I am still not ready to go back to any gym at least not around here.We have a new HIIT gym and I don't see anyone around there. Kathy I guess because of the rain shower this morning and cloudy part of the day we only got up to 91 but very humid. It was nice when I walked but after the shower it was really steamy. Linda I'm glad things felt a little more normal and you got out some today.
