More smoke heading your way, Ruth. There's a fire across the valley near the "M" (for MSU) near the mouth of Bridger Canyon. There are lots of trails in that area, and people have been evacuated. I can see the smoke from the end of the driveway. Thank goodness the wind stopped blowing.

Thanks Sue!!! Glad to hear that you are all stocked up for food- so that if we have to go back on lockdown you are in good shape. Its so nice that your husbands caregiver does much more than care for him, he helps out with errands for you also. That keeps you home and safe.....a lovely thing. Its encouraging to hear that the smoke has diminished - I have heard little about the fires with the election coming up. There is more news in this nation than politics, but the politicians sure do like to see themselves on television. So now I guess I can go through my house and take pics of the smaller projects I have quilted.....ya’all will be sorry you said you liked pictures. Ruth - so happy that Sid is all done as is the Dino. Hope that you decide to get the pockets done- as that completes the shawl, right??? ( I keep thinking that maybe I will make one of those in my spare time. Ha ha ha). I just bought a carpet steamer- most floors are hardwood but the carpeted ones need freshening. And by the time I rent a carpet cleaner I might as well own a steamer. So that is for tomorrow when the humidity is low and I can do a good job. Yup I will find and order the jelly roll for that bear paw quilt. I really really like that pattern. The problem with my mattress is that we bought it more for Dh’s taste than mine. Originally I was going to go super cheap and buy a short box spring (5 inches high) and then put on a foam topper on top of the mattress which is way too hard for me. When looking at the box springs I went to online sources first, BJ’s, Sams club, amazon and there started to learn that a lot of box springs are made in China. That is what got me started. So when I finally decided to price out a new mattress and box spring (which was not that bad price wise) I asked the company I am buying from about country of origin. think he said Serta and Sealy are all made here.

Ok so forgive the cat food.....but I made these placemats several years ago where I learned how to make a binding with mitered corners. They are reversible.
Sue and Ruth, so very sorry about the additional smoke. Is this a new fire or an old one that has travelled?? Either way not good.... Prayers for safety for all and some rain to help firefighters

Hello Crafters Ginny - WooHoo - you figured out how to post the pictures Your large quilt is beautiful and it looks so wonderful on that bed. I know you are proud of that. I like the fabric in those placements too. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of your projects past and present Ruth - Making kits is a really great idea for your crochet projects too. I just use plastic storage bags for mine. But I can imagine it would be nice to grab the bag and have the pattern, yarn and hook all ready to go. Sue - I'm glad you were able to get some groceries and are stocked up. Hope the smoke lets up soon. Thanks for letting me know the pictures aren't a problem for you in this thread, I'm happy to keep sharing them with you all. It was warm here today and humid still, but the cold front comes through tonight and the weekend is supposed to be less humid, with temps in the 80s. I'm looking forward to temps in the 70s. I haven't done any crafting today, hopefully I can get to some this weekend. Take care everyone and have a good weekend

Ginny,, when you posted that picture we must have been typing and posting at the same time or else I'm just blind because I didn't see the pics or your post. In am in serious awe!! Not only is the quilt one of the most beautiful things I've seen but the room and furniture is awesome also. It's amazing.
Sue I heard about the fire in the park but haven't heard of the other that you mentioned yet. There was a little bit of smoke this morning but it cleared away and I haven't looked out lately.
Ginny, also congrats on figuring out how to post the pictures. Guess I'm going to have to learn too. I love all the picture you both post. I love seeing things people have made which is why I spend so much time on the crochet groups and blogs. And of course I love the pictures you ladies post even more than those of strangers.
I did get the pockets pinned onto one of the shawls but then I kind of blocked it so I had to let it dry (which doesn't take long here so it's not much of an excuse) I did use the time to try to decide what pattern I want to use and what yarn for the third pocket shawl I need to make in order to get all this stuff wrapped, packed, and shipped. So I finally decided on one and have started that one. It's a treble crochet cluster stitch which I have never seen before and I think it's really nice.
My biggest problems in crochetting is trying to decide what to make with certain of my yarns and also what yarns to use for specific patterns I see so I can see myself organizing and making those decisions and making the kits so I don't have to waste so much time.

I can take no credit whatsoever to figuring out how to post pictures online. The only thing I did master was mastering how to go back in the posts (through the forums advanced search feature) find what CJ left for me and follow her excellent directions. Thanks CJ- who is probably smiling and laughing at how lame I am. I found this adorable mug organizer pattern this morning. It would make a great gift for someone who has some extra pretty fabric and a mug to cover. Hope the link works, sometimes these all free crochet links dont. www.allfreesewing.com/Miscellaneous-Projects/Creative-Mug-DIY-OrganizerCJ- hope that cold front arrives for you!!! Mid day yesterday the humidity fell and it was in the high 50’s this am when I woke up. We know that you enjoy cooler temps. A few days without air conditioning on would sure be nice for you. Hope that you can get some crafting in this weekend. Now that you are so organized and have new pretty fabric to play with its probably a challenge trying to figure out what to work on. Ruth- hoping for you and Sue that the smoke diminishes and the fires go out. Wow- you are onto a third pocket shawl!!! Hope you can get that done in the timeframe you need- which I am sure you will. What is your deadline to have the package sent out? the treble crochet cluster stitch sounds super pretty- are you using that stitch for just the pocket or the entire shawl? I agree that its nice to have all kinds of projects set up so that when you want to work on a new project it is grab and go. remember that dog I wanted a pattern for a dog sweater for? I was at my friends house yesterday, and forgot that her adult daughter (who will be living with her for a few months) can crochet. So I sent the pattern to her daughter....and I think I will be giving her the yarn to make the dog sweater. She seemed excited about making a sweater for the dog. Well, last night I got the worst of this one last butterfly done last night, so the end of the pillowcase is really in sight. I should have it done soon and can move on to the Christmas panel quilts. Dd is heading over soon for a few hours. Better get showered up and start my day. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - That mug organizer is cute, people are so creative to come up with ideas like that. Hope you can get that pillowcase done soon, so you can start on Christmas quilts. Enjoy the day with your DD. Ruth - Hope you can put some kits together. I had fun taking a pattern and picking out the fabrics for my kits. If you can get the pictures onto your computer, then it's really easy to load them into the postimages.org website and the copy and paste them over here. I have to take a picture of my projects with my phone then send that photo to my email account, then open the email and copy the picture onto my computer first - that takes me longer than just posting the picture from the computer I hope you can try, I'd love to see some of your projects. Sue, Phyl and Rene - Hope you are getting some crafting done. The color for September in the Scrappy Rainbow Challenge is RED. I have my four red fabrics picked out, pressed and cut into 5 inch squares, so I'll be ready to assemble my Bowtie blocks and the broken dishes block. I decided not to do red tumbler blocks, since the rest of my tumbler blocks are all light colors. I wish I hadn't looked at my blocks on a design board last month, because it made me lose some interest in this project. But I'll keep it up since next month is the last color - YELLOW and I already have my fabrics picked out for that. Then I'll be done and can figure out how I want to lay out these 4 quilts and work on that through the end of the year. The weather is a lot nicer here today, cooler and less humid. I have the windows open and I'm hoping I won't have to turn on the air conditioners until later for a little while. Take care everyone and have a great day!

We're having a scorching day today. Dh is not in a happy state of mind because, like you Ginny and CJ, he does not like heat and he REALLY doesn't like heat with humidity. Luckily we don't have any humidity to speak of
CJ that's how I do my pictures too. It seems like everyone else just takes a pic and immediately can send it to all the people they think might want to see it. I'm going to try that method you just mentioned and see what happens
Ginny, thank you for that link. I have coffee mugs sitting all over my house with things in them so I may have to make these organizers for them. Also, as you said, they would make great gifts.
And nice easy way to cut down on your projects..giving it to someone else to make. It sounds like she would enjoy making it too so definitely a win.
This pocket shawl has the fptrc clusters throught the whole thing. It's rows of dc, then row of hdc, then the trebles back into the doubles 2 rows back. They come together at the top then you sc a couple stitches and do another set of fptr and repeat across that row. I'm not sure yet how I'll do the pockets but I think this designer has just a plain pocket so, of course, I'll have to add my own touches to that.
Have a great day everyone. I'll see you all later

As predicted, it's hot, there is little humidity and the wind has started gusting. I can see much bigger smoke plumes. The latest update still says 400 acres, but I can see that the size has increased dramatically in the last hour. I don't see how the fire could get into upper Bridger Canyon before the weather changes, but the wind brings a new element to already perfect fire conditions. hb's cabin and land are currently 17 miles away in the direction the fire is headed. This time of year is always worrisome to people who are paying attention to snow conditions, depth of pack, amount of rain, winds and temperatures all leading to mudslides.
Compared to what has happened in the California fires, this is just a little blip. Locally, it's important. The local ski area is up the canyon.
My DD and DGKs are enjoying better air in Wisconsin.
I'm going to put the tea in the frig for later, get some ice ready for my feet, take a cold shower and put on less clothing.
There's a stitch I saw last week that I want to try, but that may not happen today.

There's a fire now not far from our house. About 5 miles away but can't see any smoke here.Local radio station posted pictures. It's breezy today too so that's not a good thing. It also is still hot over 100 with only 7% humidity.

Absolutely Sue and Ruth- praying that both of you can stay safe from fires and not have your properties impacted. Also hoping that the heat and humidity fall. Its just not comfortable to bee too hot and sticky. Lord willing the winds die down so that the fires can be contained more easily.
Sue, what stitch were you looking to try?
Ruth- those pocket shawls are so cute and I can see myself using one...now if I can only find myself making one!! I actually emailed myself CJ’s directions to post a picture- can send them on to you if you like.
CJ-this weather is just a tease of fall weather, isn’t it? Good to hear that you have your fabrics all selected for this months scrappy color challenge. What is it that troubles you about the blocks on your design wall?? That must be frustrating for you- and you have a great eye for color. I am confident that somehow you will make it work. Glad that you have your yellow fabrics all picked out for next month too.
Spent a few good hours with Dd- got her cat here tonight as she and DSIL will be gone overnight. I did some heavy cleaning - finished the carpet cleaning and put the room back together. I expect tomorrow I will be a bit sore as I had to use my less than happy hip a lot. Gonna watch the hockey game and work on some embroidery.
Hi to Phyl, Rene and Monka.....hope I did not miss anyone Ginny

Thank you CJ
Ok I got something uploaded to postimages.org so now how do I get it from there to here
Had a hard time getting a pic sent to my email because on my email on my phone there doesn't seem to be a place to click to compose a new email. I had to go to another email. Also I think that I really have no clue about taking pics with my phone because I ended up with a video instead of a picture. Now THAT'S lame!

Well they say the fire is already contained. They evacuated everyone from the area and did some serious fire fighting. They even warned the rest of us that we should be prepared in case they didn't get it contained. The wind stopped so that helped but it's so dry here that fire is a big issue
CJ, you really are prepared even having next months color blocks ready!
Ginny, I'm glad you had a nice day with your dd. Have fun babysitting the grandkitty.
