I have been making up a tray of mixed grains that are finely ground (semolina, cornmeal, fine bulgur, oats, whatever) then pouring it into the tray and taking out one portion each morning.
I top it with
* Cooked tomato and an egg
* nonfat yogurt or labne and fruit with some homemade jam and/or seeds
I have coffee of some sort with the above

2 cups coffee with 1/2 cup almond milk in each and a sprinkle of cinnamon and powdered cocoa, a tin of kipper snacks (Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish here, I love some smoked fish in the AM), oatmeal with a sliced banana, 4 or 5 strawberries, 1/2 cup mixed blueberries and boysenberries, 3/4 cup almond milk, 1 Tbsp. chia seeds, more cinnamon and 1 level teaspoon of Sucanet (a type of sugar). I allot my biggest batch of calories for breakfast. I don't eat after 6:00 PM (except pizza night sometimes) and I wake up HUNGRY.
I will often have a bit of cheese between the kipper snacks and the oatmeal.

Today it was 2 reduced fat turkey sausage patties. 1 egg, on a light English muffin, 1navel orange, 1 cup of coffee with cinnamon and Sugar Free French Vanilla creamer and 1 Sweet n Low
Yesterday’s: Bagel thin topped with lox , 1 T cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers , and an orange
Tuesday: Oatmeal, topped with banana, sprinkled with cinnamon, a boiled egg on the side.
When we eat out: 2 slices of fresh baked multigrain bread toasted, 2 eggs scrambled with spinach, tomato and caramelized onions, , 1/4 avocado to use on my toast (like butter) coffee with heavy cream, freshly made fruit cup.

In the winter months I have oatmeal nearly every morning, with some sort of fresh fruit in it. I used to eat that year round but I got burnt out on it, so I took time away from it and hope to get back to that this Fall/Winter again. It really helps tamp down my cholesterol too!
Lately, I've been on a Cheerios & fresh fruit kick, usually Apple Cinnamon w/apricots or peaches or blueberries.
The other day I had to grab breakfast and didn't feel like cereal so I cubed 1 oz. of real cheddar ( lani, Cheese Whores Unite!) and a cup of big black seedless grapes, which have been great this summer. They're very refreshing from the fridge, and with the cheese it was a power combo a la Tammy's 'Fuel & Anchors' snack guide in getting the most out of your snacks. It was a nice, light breakfast that I could pick at while on the computer. I always have one big mug of strong, black coffee with two scant teaspoons raw sugar.
Today I went off my usual and had one English crumpet with Brummel butter and strawberry jam, and it was fabulously delicious!

I know! I forgot how good they are. We were stuck somewhere at least a year ago where we couldn't make the oatmeal (can't remember exactly where or when) and opted for Cheerios. Excellent. Recently during our fire evacuation we were in the hotel and went for the Cheerios again. Just fine, thank you. Also, low cal and no added sugar.

Well hold onto your pants because they just introduced Maple Cheerios, YES, I shit you not! Soooo gooood!

surfgirl, I am strictly eating the plain Cheerios to keep the sugar down. But those sound good!

I usually eat oatmeal every morning but keep a box of cheerios around in case we have a power outage and I can't cook the oatmeal. When I was a child I ate cheerios with milk and two teaspoons of sugar every morning.
