Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I love to watch the videos on YouTube too, there is so much neat information out there. I also check for music that I like and play some of those videos to hear the songs. Ruth - Hope you get some time for crafting after your work on lawn mowers Ginny - Hope you had a good day at work, thanks for starting the thread. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. I worked on squaring up the small quilt block I hand quilted today. I'm trying out wonder clips to hold the fabric that I folded up from the back for the binding. But I think the clips are going to be too heavy for this small piece and I'll probably have to put pins in instead. I want to get it ready to hand bind so I can get it done. I also need to work on getting those fabric pieces fused so that I can put them on the Honey Bee block and get them appliqued down. At the quilt show yesterday I bought a large piece of a blue toile fabric. It's probably about 20x20 inches. I think what I'm going to do is just put small borders around it alternating between white and blue, and keep them a small size - maybe only 1-2 inches wide. I saw a small quilt done this way, and I liked the way it looked. I'm hoping I have a white and blue fabric in my stash that will work for this. I have some exciting non-craft news today. I hit my goal weight today after 2 years and 1 month of working to get here. I'm so excited, but scared too because I've never been able to maintain any my weight losses in the past. I'm hoping that all I've learned (with lots of behavior changes) over the last 2 years and the threads I participate in on the message boards will help me to be successful this time. I'm going to finish out this week in a weight loss mode since it's the end of the month and then start maintenance next week. Take care everyone!

CJ, a huge, huge, huge congrats on getting to your goal weight. That is a big accomplishment. I know what you mean though about being scared. I've lost a lot of times and never stayed there. This time I intend to stay at my goal...well, under it really but at my personal goal which is much lower than the WW goal. It's not easy but we can do it. I want to lose just 2.2 more lbs and I'll be at my personal goal
CJ, we're not actually going to work on the mowers today. I just needed to look up the model numbers and part numbers so that I can either order them online or go to stores and look for them.
I'm a happy camper today too. I got the brush roll from UPS today for my good vacuum cleaner and it fits!! now my vacuum works so nicely. I bought this one actually a few years ago..maybe even about 13 and it was an expensive one but they had marked it clear down to $39 so I grabbed it up and am so happy to have it working again. I never knew the brush roll or beater bar or whatever all names they call that part could even go bad. I'll be doing a lot of vacuuming this week but for today i jusst did a little and dh did a littlebut I want to really do every little bit of carpet we have and the furniture too.
I finally got the glove to turn out to be almost the right size. It's a little snug but will work. Gloves are stretchy. I have some chunky yarn that I think will make them perfect and I'll use that for dgd's gloves as I think her hands are about the same size as mine. I have plenty of time to do hers since they're for her bday which isn't till the end of September.I do like this pattern though because I can use the pattern as the base and change it in several ways to make different looking gloves.

Good afternoon!! Ruth, perhaps the message will show up later on- I have had that happen to me! Hope you were able to get all the parts you need to keep the lawn mowers going! It is much easier to find parts with the Internet. Think you will be able to get some crafting time in?
No crafting time yet for me, but I now have to finish those 2 bracelets as the little girl I am giving them to moves on Friday. Thursday will be my last day with her on the bus
Back to the saga of the car problems. It's inspection ends on Friday, so we figured we would get till then out of it- and then take it off the road forever. Between a very pricey oxygen sensor and needing 2 front tires eventually.....well- the car is only worth $1200 and that is what we would have to spend (approximately) to keep it on the road. So, we thought we would cut our loses, and get rid of it. DD is borrowing that car - as hers is in the shop- she uses the same mechanic we do. He is very honest and a decent mechanic too. Last year, when this same car needed work on the muffler, he patched it together and said it would buy us another year or so....and then it might be time to get rid of the car. That was last year. Anyway, DD is driving to come here to pick up her kids (our day to babysit) and she notices that the "check engine light" is out! (It's been on for months!). QUick thinking she calls the mechanic- asks if he will quick inspect the car NOW while the idiot light is out. Of course he says yes.....and the darned car passes!!!!! Ha ha ha IMO it's a perfect example of God watching over us and taking care of things his own way. I am very thankful for this crazy situation and how it ended up.
BBL Ginny

CJ- congrats on getting to your goal weight!!!That is wonderful- and I am SO happy for you! Yes, it is scarey- I have been at goal (years ago) and a few years got within 2# of goal. You can do this and we are all here to support you! BTW- your blue and white quilt sounds lovely. Toile is so pretty.....I rather like red toile myself.
Ruth- so glad that the UPS truck brought the right brush and the vacuum is fixed! Happy vacuuming today- and for the rest of the week too! Guess it's spring cleaning time! Happy too that you got the gloves sided properly.
So my post (above) I had all written 2 hours ago. Guess I did not hit send hard enough.
Going to spend a few minutes in study- then get to work on those bracelets. We are babysitting again tomorrow, so I will probably not have time then. Ginny

Ginny, everyone seems to have some great news today. I'm so happy that your car's check engine light went out and your dd was able to have it inspected right then and it passed! Yes God is good!! Thank you Lord. Now you don't have to decide right away if you're getting it fixed or not. Sounds like when it acts up again it might be the time to retire it. Mine seems to be running right now too. We don't have vehicle inspection here and I'm really thankful for that. Back in NY they scammed me every year....well until my dear grandfather in law took over getting the inspections for us. I sure wish I could find a good and honest mechanic.I told you how we had to have the fuel pump replaced at almost $1000...well now I found out that there's a switch that sometimes gets jostled when you stop suddenly or drive on really bumpy roads that shuts off the fuel pump. It's supposed to be in case of accident so that fuel doesn't leak all over your vehicle. That might be what happened and it wasn't the fuel pump at all. I would think that might be the case since the same thing happened just a couple months after the fuel pump was supposedly replaced and when I got the car back the cover that covers that switch had been taken off and they made the mistake of leaving it off. I found it lying on the floor mat when I got home. It's sad how dishonest some people and companies can be. This is at the car dealer which used to be owned locally and was a really good place but now it's been sold to a large national conglomerate and you can easily see that things aren't the same there anymore.
Ginny, what a kind thing you're doing in making those bracelets for that little girl. I know she's going to be thrilled.
I haven't got to bracelets yet but I do have the presents wrapped and all set to send when we go out Wednesday. I'll send a package later with bracelets. There aren't anymore bdays till end of August but I have some things I want to send to them that I've collected over the years and that I think they will like.

Good morning!
Ruth- hope you can get your package wrapped and out the door! Looks like you have plenty of time to get the bracelets made- have fun with them. The kicker with my car inspection story is that our mechanic is big on trying a quick fix to get thru inspection. Apparently the computer in the car has to clear for 12 hours or something like that before it can be inspected so lots of times he has said to me that he would reset the faulty sensor- tell me to drive the car for an hour or so, come back the next day and hope that it passes. I do love our mechanic. He's a funny guy.....
I did get the blue and white star shaped button on the red/white/blue bracelet this am. Bought a multi bag of spring color buttons for the other bracelet. Gotta pick out which one I think looks best.
Have a blessed day Ginny

Good morning all. It's an overcast and dreary day here but it's fine. I have no where I have to go.
The package is packed and sealed but I think I'm going to open it and rearrange. I have the shawl on the top and I don't want to take a chance that it will get cut when they open the box.
Ginny, maybe six years ago I bought an older Tahoe, the engine light came on the next day so I took it to the GMC dealer and they did a over $100 engine analysis and said that they couldn't find anything wrong. He suggested that the gas cap hadn't been on tight enough but that wasn't the case because I had heard of that and made sure it was tight. Never did find out what the problem was but at any rate I,long story short, ended up giving it to my neighbor and he drives it everyday and I'd bet the engine light is still on. I'm not suggesting that's the same in the case of your car just relating my story.
I'm going to do a little housework today and sit and crochet.
Ginny, it sounds like you found some nice buttons for your bracelets. Buttons are another thing like yarn... I have a lot of them but never seem to have the one I actually need at the time.

I had a busy day yesterday. I did finish my b/blanket now I need to work on the other one that I am knitting using the Cromwell pattern. That pattern is on Lyon Brand website. I spent most of my evening winding yarn into balls and sorting out tangles.
cj, I watch UTube to learn new crochet stitches but I also like to listen to music sometimes. I could spend hours on UTube. Congratulations on reaching your goal weight. I wish you well as you maintain.
Ruth, I am glad you got your vacuum to work and you don't have to buy a new one.
Ginny, sorry you are having car problems I hope you can find a good replacement. Enjoy your grandkids while you babysit. I had a light come on in my cat and I had all the seals and gaskets replaced. Apparently they get spongy after awhile like rubber bands. It was expensive but I haven't had any more trouble. I am planning to keep my car until I die or it does. which ever happens first.
With that cheerful thought I wish you a good day.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Thanks so much for the congratulations on my reaching goal, it's great to know there are others here who are maintaining there loss. Ruth - I'm glad you got the part for your vacuum, I'm sure it will feel good to use it. Also glad you found a way to make the gloves so they fit. Hope you get to crochet some today. Ginny - That's a funny story about the car inspection, but I'm glad you were able to get it done. Hope you get the bracelets done by Thursday too. I went out and did my grocery shopping and errands today so I haven't done any crafting. I may try to work on that binding later. Take care everyone!

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing
CJ-- well we all have those days in which errands and housework have to take presidence over fun stuff like crafting. Hope you can get some time in on the binding- if not there is always tomorrow!!
Meg- it's takes a ton of patience to sort through yarn and get it into balls! Glad you were able to finish the baby blanket. It seems as though you finish one every 2 or three weeks. Hey, how are you feeling? Are you getting Physical therapy?
Ruth were you able to get some crochetting time in?
Well, now that the car has passed inspection - we really do not care that the engine light is on. I figure we will try to get another year out of it.....I find the whole story very funny.
GUess I am heading downstairs to repair some of Ds's shirts and finish the bracelets. Dh is in a monster mood (super crabby) so it's best I stay out of his path. I can go craft instead!
Have a great evening Ginny

I lost a message again. One in which I talked mostly to Meg and CJ as they came in after my last one.
Basically it was that I hope that Meg outlives the car by many, many happy healthy years.
Also Meg, I did buy a new vacuum a couple weeks ago but now I may take it back or keep it as backup...not sure yet.
CJ, it's great to have the shopping and errands out of the way for another week.
I think we'll go out on Thurs instead of tomorrow. Thursday will be warmer although tomorrow will be much warmer than today. It's raining and in the mountain snowing.
Meg, it feels good to finish an article we're working on. I have the bodies of both gloves done and need to do the seam and the cable part next.I know you're glad to have that baby blanket done.
