good morning crafter,s cj congratulations on reaching your goal. just take it one day at a time, just like you did to lose the weight. you have put In new habits and don't fall back into the old habits. some LT's find it to hard to stay at a low weight and have to get a new goal set. just o the best you can and then see what happens.
years ago some of our friends had a check engine light that stayed on all the time. they never could find anything wrong with the car.
yesterday don was a big help with getting the upper cupboards cleaned. he climbed the ladder to get to the top shelves and cleaned all the shelves. we have another box for goodwill or salavation army.
today will be the sewing room ,tomorrow the upstairs. then next week we will do the below cupboards, then the closets and drawers I n the bedrooms. that will take time.
time to get busy. phyl

Ginny, we must have been posting at the same time last night because I didn't see your's till this morning. I hope your dh feels better today. Usually when mine is grumpy it's because his blood sugar is too low and he needs to eat. and I'm glad you had a good evening fixing shirts and sewing on buttons as well as watching your favorite HGTV shows. I haven't watched that channel in ages. Phyl, sounds like you're either doing spring cleaning or weed out "stuff" or maybe both. I'm glad to hear that Don did the ladder part. I too. I took yarn and a hook downstairs with me last evening to start a new pair of fingerless gloves using a different pattern. I want to make several different ones. I never did start them though. I ended up watching a couple programs on tv that my dh had recorded....RAilroad Alaska. I like it but it was cold here yesterday and watching that makes me feel colder So today is going to be writing letters to mail while out tomorrow and then crocheting and I may just get a little housework in there too. Good morning also to Meg and CJ and I hope all of you have a great day. It's warmer and sunny here today so I really should start walking outdoors.I keep saying that and weather's been nice for about three weeks so I could have gotten in a lot of walking by now but nothing we can do about the past.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - Thanks for the congratulations on my meeting goal and for your words of advice. Hope the cleaning and clearing out goes well - that's something I really need to get working on. Ginny - Sounds like you are making progress on your bracelets. There are several shows on HGTV that I like to watch too. Ruth - Glad to hear your weather is better, hopefully you'll get out to do some walking soon. Meg - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I had all day to get some things done and feel like I did nothing! Oh well, we all need days like that sometimes. I did look at some fabric for the two weekly blocks that came out today. This is the new Solstice one: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - scroll down for Block #15 pictures and info This is the Facebook page for the Moda Blockheads - www.facebook.com/groups/253867175058745/ This week's block is an applique of a beehive. It's really cute, but I just don't want to do another applique, so I'm going to make another 6 inch block from a traditional block pattern that I like - maybe a log cabin. I notice others aren't doing an applique block either, and I guess really it's my quilt to do as I like Take care everyone.

I forgot to mention that I received the written appraisal for my quilt today and it appraised at $350 dollars, which is over the $275 I paid for it. I was happy about that, but I didn't mind what price it appraised at, I just wanted to document the way it was made and it's age.
My sister-in-law got her appraisal too and it was $1000!!!! The quilt she had appraised was made by a friend of hers and was machine pieced and hand quilted. It's quite large and has flower basket blocks. The hand quilting was exquisite on it and the whole piece was excellently done. It has florals and pinks and purples as the colors, some of my favorites.

CJ- congrats on your quilt appraising so well! Did you get a guesstimate of its age? That is awesome about your SIL's quilt! Impressive. And yes, it's your quilt, if you choose to skip the appliqué block- go ahead!
Phyl- how nice that you got another box ready for donation! Feels good to straighten things up like that. You sound very organized in your straightening up.....and when you are done my house needs help!
Ruth-Dh was suffering from allergies- which he usually refuses to treat and then he becomes a wretched monster. I have seen some episodes of Railroad Alaska- what an interesting show. Did you get those fingerless gloves started?
Busy day.....all the little gifts for my soon to be ex student are wrapped and ready to give to her tomorow. She is such a sweet young woman. I will surely miss her. Ginny

CJ, congrats to you and your sister in law for the excellent appraisals. As you said, having everything documented is the best part. As for the quilt you're making, I agree with you and Ginny and that's what you both told me also...do you own thing. It is your quilt after all.
Ginny, I thought the girl you were giving the bracelets to was a small child. I know that a child of any age including those in the "young woman" group will love the bracelets and always remember the kindness you showed her.
I didn't get out walking nor have I done any crocheting today. I did get some things cooked and all set for dh and I have my food for tonight nearly made too. I made him chili which I can eat some of but the mac and cheese I made for him has regular pasta and flour in the cheese sauce so I had to make my own gluten free sauce so we'll see how that is. I've never made that before. I still have gi issues but one of the things that was causing me problems is gone now and I also found out I can't eat nuts so can't buy gluten free that's made with almond flour.
When I was on facebook the other day when I clicked something I shouldn't in news trending and got a virus I saw that my brother is posting every day about his walking. He started slow and is up to nearly a whole mile a day. I think it's flat where he is. Here it's all hills so it's a challenge to walk a mile but I'll do it. Tomorrow I'll get in a lot of walking in the stores but Friday I'm going to start my daily walk unless it's pouring rain and nasty like it was yesterday.
Have a great evening everyone and I'll see you all tomorrow after I get home.

Good morning!! Ruth that is great that your brother is walking a mile a day! Go easy..... start slowly.with spring coming. You can get a lot of steps in from shopping.
The student who is moving is 9 . I gave her her gifts this am as she will not be onthe bus this afternoon. She did tell me she would never have another bus driver as good as me. Yes I was crying.
Babysitting today.....hope to get to work on Dd's quilt tonight! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - That little girl sounds so sweet, I'm sure you'll miss her. Hope you are enjoying the babysitting and that you get to work on the quilt tonight. The appraiser told me she estimated my quilt was made around 2000, so it's not that old. Ruth - Take it slow when you start walking, you can always build up to more Sorry to hear about your computer virus, I hope you are able to clear it off your machine. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are both getting to do some crafting. I didn't do any crafting today, but I went to JoAnn Fabrics, so I'm counting that When I got home I checked through my bags and something I bought was not in there - so irritating. Since I have to go out tommorow, I'll stop by there with my receipt and get another one. Take care everyone!

CJ- what I love about all of us is that we agree on the same convoluted rules for what crafting is!!! OF COURSE going to Joanns counts! . And although it's an inconvenience that you must return to Joanns tomorrow for the item they never put in the bag- well, worse things could happen! (Now is your chance to print out another 40% off coupon and stock up!). Hey, what criteria (how do they estimate) a quilts age? I do know that some fabric patterns are from a certain era, so that would be a dead giveaway. But a quilt made in 2000-......wow, how do they determine that? My Cake MIx arrived! (The sort of paper piecing pattern). I took a look at it....so yes then I got some crafting time in. ha ha ha. Now have to start on fabric selection. Cannot wait. Oh, I ran into the elementary school to use the rest room and heard my little buddy was being picked up (there is a designated area for pick ups). I ran over to give her one last hug and a light kiss on the head- poor thing she looked overwhelmed and trying hard to keep from crying. Her mom and I have each other's cell phone #'s, so I will sent a text next week to see how she is faring. Have a great night! Ginny

Ginny, that little girl really does sound so sweet and she must be special to you and it sounds like you're special to her too. It's so nice to be a good role model to her.
CJ, yes it really is annoying when they forget to bag something we've bought and paid for. As Ginny said though, here's you chance for another coupon and more "crafting" I love our rules too. I've crafted today too because I got a Herrschner catalog in the mail and I touched it and I also got the yarn I ordered and will open the packages and look at it.
Seriously though, I love the pattern I'm using now for yet another pair of fingerless gloves. It calls for a D hook but I used an E so reached the 3 1/2 inch mark sooner than the pattern called for so I have two really nice rows of the design and am now on the back of the gloves which is just hdc and dc in alternating front and back loops. I can see myself making several of these for my grandaughters, dd, ddil, and grandson's sweetie and dd's friend. I think I'll make a pair too for the bagger at our one grocery store. She is such a nice young woman and is so friendly. She always greets us and most of the time we get a hug too.
After I get some more of the gloves made I'm going to revise the other pattern so that it works better for me. I love the ridges that are caused by working in the back loops only and not alternating back loop and front loop. But I want to make them further apart and I also want to make them with a smaller hook because I just think that most things or a greatmany things look better when made with a smaller hook. Using a smaller hook with the pattern the way it is will make too many ridges that are too close together so I'm going to experiment. I also found a really nice baby blanket pattern I want to make for my grandaughter.
WEll I've been out a lot of the day so I'd better get busy getting some things done.
I hope you all have a great evening and hello also to Meg and Phyl

OH, darn, Phyl, I thought you'd come over and do mine. Well yesterday we were out shopping with no coats and woke this morning to 32 degrees and white stuff all over. So it's going to be a crocheting and reading day. I still need to do my taxes but since we'll be in the "winter quarters" dh will be talking and I need to concentrate so I'll do it another day. I was going to look up my equipment for starting my tomato seeds too but guess climate change hasn't caused spring to come early after all. It happens that way every year but this year more so. People here plant things thinking early spring and what they plant always freezes and the next year they do the same thing.I never bother to put anything outside until after the first of June.It just never works to do it earlier. Have a great day everyone. I'll see you all later I hope

Hello everyone. It has been a busy week for me and I have not had much computer time. I had Pt this morning and she put me through my paces. I stopped at Kohl's s on the way home. They have their friends and family sale this weekend and my son works there so he gets an extra discount. So it is always a good time for him to take me shopping. Yesterday I had my iron infusion and they did fins a vein. I have one more to go next week. Wed I went to see about getting a walker and I should have one sometime next week. So that was 3 mornings spent at the hospital this week. Monday went shopping for a new refrigerator. I have an old one that I keep in the garage and it is ready to go. I have had my moneys worth out of it as it has lasted many years.
I have managed to do some knitting along the way The one b/blanket I have been knitting I am having problems with it so I may just frog it and start something new and not waste my tome and patience on it. I want to relax and enjoy what I am doing.
Ginny, I am sure the little girl will remember you for your kindness to her. I found some of the bus drivers that took Janet and later my DGD to school were all very special people and I have good memories of all of them.
Ruth, how are gloves coming along? I knit some fingerless gloves a few years ago but I haven't knit any recently.

cj, that was wonderful news about your quilt and also your friends quilt. You are having a good week, reaching goal and finding out the value of your quilt.
Phyl, good for you decluttering and cleaning out your kitchen cupboard. I need to do that.
It is very windy here today 40 miles per hour. It is a bad hair day. Trees have blown down and traffic lights are out in some places. But the sun is shining.
I will check back later. Have a Happy Friday.

Meg, it's good to see you back. I sure does sound like you've had a busy week.I'm glad you had a chance to stop in. Yes we need to be able to enjoy what we're doing. That's why I had to set the other gloves aside before I did the second seam and before doing the faux cables. I just get tired of working on the same thing and have to change to something else for a short time. I also hate doing weaving of ends and edging so sometimes it's not just for a short time that I set something aside but for a longer time before I am in the mood to do the finishing touches. Today so far I haven't done any crocheting at all but I'm going to do some before the night is over. It's only 5:30 here so I have some time. I want to do some more organizing of my computer files before that though. And they're craft pattern files so that counts in our way of determining what crafting is . I also want to look up my yarn that I want to use for my dgd's blanket for her baby and see if I have enough or look online to see if I can order the same yarn if I don't have enough. If I need more and can't find it I'll find a yarn that will work with it. Since my friend gave this yarn to me I really want to use it for a blanket for my first great grandaughter as she did. I'll stop back later to see if anyone has been in
