Here it looks like it will be a late summer week for weather....and then towards the end of the week go back to more fall like temps. I slept poorly last night, and halfway through the nights switched to DD’s bed- fell asleep and slept until 7. I never sleep till 7. Temperatures in the evening were cool enough, so I guess it was the mattress. Delivery of my new mattress is delayed until the end of the month, or so I hope.

OH I love that fabric. Luckily for me it's unavailable right now or I'd probably order it Maybe I will sign up for them to let me know when it is available.I could start a quilt top.Even though it has mostly yellows there are enough of the oranges to make it really pretty. How many of those packs so you need for a quilt top? Just maybe a bunk bed size. Not that I have a bunk bed but don't want to get in over my head at first. Sorry to hear your mattress is going to take longer than anticipated. So many things are unavailable right now. I know you want to get it to your home and see if it works for you. Thank you for the link to the fabric and the instructions for posting images. Now all I have to do is try to find a better way to get the pictures I take to that site. And right now it's fairly cool so I think it's cooler than they said it would be for this time of day so rain and snow may come sooner. Hopefully it puts out all the fires. Tomorrow our high is only supposed to be some horrible number like 34 I think but by the end of the week it will be back to 70's which to me is perfect.

Ginny, the colors from msq look amazingly like the quilt Ruth posted!
I meant to mention how much I enjoyed seeing your blocks CJ. A picture is worth a thousand words. I'm going to try to get my mind working and figure out how to post photos. In theory, following directions should help, but my mind rebels. That's a MTBI problem.
Temperature is 43. Heavy cloud cover, and hard frost tonight before we're back in the 80s.
hb wants to go see, but there's no access to the fire area, and the whole Canyon is still evacuated.

I don't know what the temp is right here now, Sue, but it sure feels cold and there's a strong wind. Just went down to my mailbox and nearly got the car door and our storm door blown right out of my hands.
Got the mail and saw there was something from IRS so I thought it was the simulus check. It wasn't and only said that they determined that I did not receive one and if I don't get one by the time the second round of checks is sent I can take that amount as a tax credit. Well then I went through more of the mail and low and behold...a miracle...our stimulus check finally arrived
Ginny have you heard anything about your tax refund? I know that you, too, contacted your congressman..
Today I'm sitting and crocheting. We had planned to go out tomorrow so we'll see if we actually get any snow and if we do I guess we'll stay home. It will be too cold to go out anyway.

And even more important to me, I got a letter from each of the two youngest grandaughters. The one that just turned 9 had hers sealed well into another envelope and put into the envelope that her sister's letter was in. I know the parents (my ds and ddil) didn't see this letter from the youngest because she asked if I could get her a cameral for her birthday ( I haven't sent her gifts yet) and I know her parents have taught the kids not to ask people for things. But I actually asked her what she wanted. But her sister just older than her, just got cameras apparently so she wants one...a pink one.Of course you know what I did...went to Amazon and ordered one for her.

Hello Crafters Ruth - That temperature change is unbelievable!!! I hope you don't get too much snow or any wind damage. That's so sweet that you got the letters from your DGDs and are able to get one of them the pink camera she wants - you're a wonderful grandmother Congratulations on getting the stimulus check - finally! Sue - Your weather is just as crazy! Hope that you won't have any fire damage once you are able to get up to that area. I know you can post pictures, if all the rest of us figured it out then you can too Ginny - Sorry to hear your slept poorly, hope you can get some better sleep tonight and that once you get the new mattress that will help. I think it's warm and humid here today, but I haven't stepped foot outside the house, so I don't know It is sunny. I have the AC and fans on and it's nice to have a cool feeling without the house having so much heat built up in it. It just feels different when the house wasn't so hot to start with. I've had migraines the last 3 days. I took medication on Saturday, and it dulled it a bit. Yesterday I tried to stick it out, since I don't like to take so much medication. Today I took a half dose and that seems to have taken most of the pain away. I don't usually have them 3 days in a row, so I'm hoping that's it for awhile. I don't have them in the morning, they just come in the afternoon - not sure why that is. I haven't done any quilting since finishing my red blocks since I haven't felt well. But when I work on something again I think I'll start on that log cabin quilt next, the one in the oriental fabrics. I'd still want to get my other machine out and try some machine quilting. Take care everyone

CJ- I am so very sorry that you are still not feeling well!! I now remember you mentioned late last week that your migraines were coming back- and it stinks that its back in full force. I hear you - its not good do take too much medication. Sometimes with pain its important to break the pain cycle, and then attempt to manage it with lesser amounts of medicine after that. I dont have migraines so I do not know if that is valid advice for them- i know its good for back pain. I wonder if the humidity or change in weather triggered something. I am praying that this 3rd day is your last and that tomorrow you are feeling fine again. Of course its tough to craft when you are not feeling 100%- pain really robs us of our ability to concentrate and desire to create. Think we have another 2 days of summer weather and then the cooler temps return. It would be so nice for you if by then you were back to normal, if not sooner.
Sue- I can repost (copy) CJ’s instructions which were awesome- so you can post pictures too. I would think its going to be a week before you will be able to see what has happened as far as damage to the canyon area....have they had any better luck controlling the fire??
Ruth, a charm pack is usually 42, 5 inch squares. My guess is that you would need three or four charm packs and a border to make a nice almost twin sized quilt. Yup I saw that fabric this morning and it screamed RUTH!!!! I thought it was pretty too..... I think its absolutely adorable that your DGD sent out a special request for a birthday present. So sweet of her.....that she trusts you and knows how very much you love her, I would have done the same thing. Congrats on prevailing over the IRS!!!! Yay. That is great news that you finally got the stimulus check. What they said to you is what I am hoping for- that if they cannot get a check out they just credit it to my 2020 return;. I had to complete a release form to send to my congressman- I mailed that last week. Hopefully in a week or so I get some answers. Its no big deal about the delayed mattress- I just have to remember to sleep in DD’s bed and not the torture chamber that my mattress is. I wonder why Dh liked it so much....its killed my back since day one.
My crafting today might just be untangling some yarn and figuring out how to finish a scarf that Dd#2 started. Looks pretty easy and should be about 15 minutes of crochetting for me to use up all the yarn and then she can have the scarf. Perhaps I will work on the cross stitch....that is probably a better choice.
Hi to Phyl, Rene- hope I did not miss anyone!!! Stay safe all Ginny

Got a bit of embroidery in.....so close to the end. This last butterfly is larger than the others and has extra detail.

CJ, I hope those headaches are gone now and you have a better day. Pain of any kind is bad. I haven't had a migraine so I don't know personally how they are but I've known many people that have had them and they are dreadful.Thank you for the compliment on my "grandmothering" I hope my sending the camera doesn't interfere with plans my ds and dil have
Ginny. I'm glad you have another bed to use because it sounds as if that other one is a torture chamber. With your hip pain you don't need additional areas that also hurt and keep you from sleeping well. Great idea to finish the scarf. It sounds like you want to work on the embroidery more though. Tangled yarn is no fun. I've definitely had my share of untangling
Well we did get the dreaded white stuff. I can't believe that we had all this snow coming down on Sept 7th. It's very heavy snow and broke my tree and has my bushes flattened. They'll spring back but this tree is going to be very short if it survives at all. We planted it as a dead looking twig and it finally got to probably about 12 feet high.after probably 25 or so years but it's trunk never got very thick so broke right off during the night. It's twin has always been eaten by deer and is only about two feet tall. It has a protector around it so won't be beaten down by snow.I know the snow plow company the HOA hires was happy. They plowed the streets in our subdivision. I'm not going anywhere. My vehicles are buried.

Snow here but not a lot. There was more snow up the canyon which is a higher elevation. The status of the fire isn't clear. It's greatly subdued but still active status. Some of the footage on the news last night was eerie, but there wasn't enough to get a clear picture. The weather will be warming back up and there will be clear sunny days. The roads are still closed.

No expert here but I would think that the roads will stay closed for a day or even after the fire is contained to assure safety of all and be sure that the roads are safe to travel on. I am sure that any snow helps getting the fire under control or extinguished.
Ruth sorry about the tree damage and all the snow. The snow will most likely be melted in a day- if the weather app on my phone has any value it looks like you will be warming up a lot soon and will actually have weather around 80 degrees in a couple of days. You are right, I want the embroidery done first, the scarf should only take me an hour or so and its so mindless.
Long day tomorrow- got a doctor appointment and an appointment for a hair cut. And a few errands to run.... I babysat today and also had tea with my quilting buddy, Today was busy for sure, as this whole week will be.
Have a good night all Ginny
