CJ- the quilt is magnificent!! You made it in such a short amount of time too (would have taken me days). Enjoy the cooler temps.
Phyl - good to see you here....hope that your friend Doris is ok.
Ruth- how is your day going? Were you able to resolve the border issue on the shawl?
Lovely walk this am and a nice visit with Dd. Opps - just noticed we went to page 4 and I did not read that page Bbl G

Thanks for the kind words about my quilt top Phyl - I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Ginny - You don't give yourself enough credit. You could have made that small quilt top just as quickly as I did It was so easy with the log cabin pieces already cut. I was looking around the internet today and found a website that has a bunch of free quilt patterns, here's a link if you'd like to look through them: fortworthfabricstudio.com/blogs/patternsAnd Pat Sloan is starting a new weekly block quilt along that starts in October and ends in December. It has 9 blocks and she's already provide the layout information on her blog linked below. I think I'm going to participate in this one. blog.patsloan.com/

CJ, I love the quilt and the links you posted in that first post today. Was it called Honeybun. I clicked the link they have for the kit and it says sold out. I think everyone is either quilting or crocheting.I haven't been to the last two yet.
Phyl, I saw that the other day too. I was wondering about Doris and saw that she had said "it was a sad day for the family" but didn't give any details and no one asked her why it was a sad day so I guess they all knew that she was saying something "off the wall" I don't think they can get state help because I heard that Doris has quite a few assets in annuities, etc.Doris, herself mentioned it before she kinda got her thoughts mixed up. I won't say what I think of her daughter trying to put her in a nursing home. Best to keep my opinions to myself.
Ginny, I know you could do that quilt fast also. You and CJ underestimate yourselves.
Today was drain the water heater day and it didn't go without glitches. I hope we can get one on Tues and it goes in easily. Dh has put in many a hot water heater here. They don't last long with all the minerals. You should see the inside of the one part he took off. Just a tiny hole left in a 3/4" pipe and the encrustation is had as concrete.
Now I'm back to crocheting and waiting to hear if my neice had the baby yet.

Ruth I think the sad day had to do with the day MJ's ex took all their money and took off.they have never have found him.they have been living on Doris pension.which probably is not much
he took one of the girls computer, Hannah's full paid nursing scholarship.. how he got into that who knows
Hannah would have been A nurse or doctor..we were at a friend's house with the family when Hannah was telling about her day at the university. she was so excitied.
Mj is doing what she may have to do for Doris safety. so please do not be jugemental about Mj.
we never know what is going to happen to us as we get older.Phyl

Good morning all-
Phyl - glad to hear that you are doing well and that the injection is helping you.
Ruth-prayers for your niece and that she and her baby are safe and well. Hope that next Tuesday you and Dh are able to get all the parts needed to replace the hot water heater. I almost wonder if it would be a good idea to preventatively replace hot water heaters at your house. What are you working on now.....what kind of crochet project??
CJ- I just sat through the most recent installation from Pat Sloan- will you be using your own fabric for this project or buying a layer cake? I just sat through her video, its sure tempting, but I have to get those Christmas panel quilts done. Cannot wait to see what fabrics you choose and how you put them together. Thanks for the link for the fort worth fabrics web site- I will check that out later on.
DGS#2 is baptized today so this morning will be busy.....see ya later. Ginny

CJ, I really like the quilts. Thank you for the links to the patterns and fabrics.I looked at the pattern for the quilted potholders and I found it strange that she didn't mention any batting. Seems like you would have to have that to make it thick enough for a potholder. I checked out the mystery quilt along but since it's a mystery there's not much to see. I do like the blocks that were shown that must be from a current project she's doing with others.
Ginny, well it will be great to get together with the grandchildren.Being in a church that you don't normally attend is always, to me anyway, not usually a really great experience.
Phyl, good to hear that you're feeling better.
I did get some crocheting done last night on the shawl and also on a hat...got a head start on my Sunday hat project.
My neice baby entered the world safely last night. He looks quite large but she didn't say how much he weighed. Most newborns are very puffy when born and he is.

Hello Crafters Ruth - Congratulations on the new great-nephew, I'm glad everything went well. Hope you are working on your hat today. I'm glad you enjoyed the links. I found a few patterns on the Fort Worth Fabric Studio website that I might try. Ginny - Hope you enjoy the baptism and time with family today. I might have ordered some fabric from MSQC yesterday to use in the Pat Sloan quilt I'm going to wait until I get it to decide for sure. It's blue and silver holiday fabric, so it really doesn't fit the Cozy Things theme, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Phyl, Sue and Rene - Hope you get some crafting done or just relaxing today. It's a bit warmer here today, but still nice. I took the AC unit out of my bedroom window this morning and put it away. I'm glad to have that done and hopefully won't have any more trouble with water coming in around the window. I'm sure it was from around the AC unit so having it out should take care of it. I'm going to put the portable AC I have downstairs away today too. It will be nice to be done with both of them for the year. I'm hoping to get back to work on the quilt I started, but I have to get these things done around the house first. At least now that it's getting cooler I can work on my quilts during the middle of the day instead of just mostly in the mornings or late evenings. I'll be checking out the Slow Sunday Stitching blogs today too. Take care everyone.

Ruth, congrats on your new great nephew!!! Sounds like he is a big healthy baby and I am so thankful for his blessed arrival and addition to your family. Fill us in when you can with how he and his mom are doing. Nice to hear that you are back to your Sunday hat project.....and that you got some work in on the shawl. With regard to the mystery quilt, I think she intends using 10 inch squares of fabric (layer cake- so each square is a different fabric) and then the border around each square is what provides the interest. Its a simple and pretty pattern....I know I find Pat Sloan great but confusing at times. I do wonder how she manages to keep so busy and make daily or almost daily youtubes...
CJ-good to hear that the airconditioners are away!!! More light coming in the house and no noise....leakage....yes work around the house has to come first, just so that there is no damage to the house and that all functions the way it should. Houses are a lot of responsibility and work, that is for sure. Its a happy thought knowing that you can return to quilting when you want to in the middle of the day. Guess that Pat Sloan quilt is next for you??? Will you be using a layer cake that you own or your own fabrics??
Baptism was pleasant. DD’s church services are long- and her FIL, the pastor, sure likes to hear himself speak. (Took 45 minutes to say what my pastor would have said in 20). But a lovely ceremony and we went back to DD’s afterward just for cake. Gotta unload the dishes...then not sure if I am crocheting or quilting.
Yikes tomorrow is Monday. Ginny

Thank you for those congratulations! We are especially grateful because he had the cord wrapped around his neck twice so they thought they might have to do an emergency c section and who knows what damage can be done between the time they notice the baby is in some distress and they get you to the OR. That was not needed though so we are thanking God again for his care
CJ, I know it's a great relief to be able to put those air conditioners away. Now I just have to get dh to take ours out since I seriously doubt that we'll be using it again. The fabric you "might have" ordered yesterday sounds really pretty. It sounds as if it will make a great quilt in whatever pattern you decide to use it for.
Ginny, it's good to hear the baptism went well and you were able to join your family for cake afterward. As far as the pastor goes, some of them like to hear themselves talk I think. They should read their Bibles and find that God has actually warns against that.
I got the hat done that I started last night. I was following a pattern but it was turning out to be gigantic so I had to do a little bit of revising. I've now started a second one which is completly different. I'm using some more of my "ugly" yarn which usually ends up looking nice once you get it made into something.

Ruth, glad you were able to revise the pattern and make it work. Some patterns are just like that. Yes so very very grateful that the newest little family member is safely here to hold and to love. Funny how sometimes ugly yarn can turn out so pretty. I think its designed that way....they know it will work up pretty...
Still have not figured out what I am doing tonight. We shall see I came here for the IPad to look for something on Walmart.com Ginny
