GOOD MORNING!! love light blessings and good health. Happy Labor Day!! Monday, September 7, 2020.
Carol glad you got a good night's sleep, that is sooo important.
Jan I think it is now hotter in Cali than in Central Texas, perhaps a first. It is in the seventies here now and the windows are open/AC off. I will close up the house and turn on the AC in the afternoon. I had to turn it on early yesterday for unexpected guests. MF doesn't help me mow but has helped with trimming trees, sprayed for skeeters, and looked at the irrigation system yesterday. I will see today if he fixed it. Or maybe wait until tomorrow . . .
Hi Sally! Hi Nat!
Yes I did: walk, triceps (I am still weight training), and abs. Rowing machine. Housework including a very quick clean of entire house because MF set up an impromptu gathering there. Amazing how much dirt you see on the floor when unexpected guests arrive! I printed off a recipe for shortcake but the guests were not there long enough to prepare it so I was OP yesterday. He then found an outdoor event in Austin which featured lighted dancers which was just amazing. More interesting still was how invisible senior citizens are. No one spoke to us. We just sat in our lawn chairs and enjoyed the performance, the dogs, and the children underfoot. Yes I can: another home ab circuit, walk, weights (chest/back). I have started another load in the unending wash. Maybe a little more housework. I do not like to practice law on Labor Day weekend out of principle and I just realized it is Labor Day weekend. love light and blessings janet

Good Labor Day positive peeps! Jan, we are pretty smokey today. First time I smelled it since it started on Sat morning. The winds must have shifted. I still can't get over that the fire by us was caused by a gender reveal party pyrotechnics machine. Who in their right mind does that in a park with brush all around, in a heat wave with the whole state burning as it is? It's pretty infuriating the carelessness of people. Argghhh. Anyway, Forest Service decided to close several national forests at 5pm tonight, campgrounds, picnic areas etc. Get these people off the mountain before the Santa Ana winds hit tomorrow and more stupidity with campfires and BBQ's. I took a short walk at 6pm tonight by the lake. It's pretty cleared out now, a little less smelly there than at my house, more breezy. Yay Sally for the weight and for getting your face timing in with Nora. Step lightly with that advice LOL. Janet, the concert sounds wonderful with the dancers. So sorry about the invisibility thing, you are far from senior citizen They are still doing the outdoor services here at church but I haven't ventured out there yet. Wondering how many attend. They never show the people on the video, just the alter. Carol, good job with the weight and getting into the actual studio. Are they doing meeting now by you? Not sure I'd be ready either. Jan, your poor neighbor and her greedy family. What a sweet man her father was. I'm sorry you lost your dad so young! Yes I CAN: Keep my kitchen closed...IF 14 hour today but otherwise it's been 16 since the 1st. Log it all. Tracking is on target. Get my steps in....done, I'm almost to 16k today. Take a nice soaker and go to bed. Mom gave me Table of Five (The Presidents Club in the Age of Trump). Her and dad finished it up fast so passed it on. Very good so far, entertaining and interesting! See you tomorrow! Nat

Good Morning!! love light blessings love light blessings love light blessings GOOD HEALTH. Tuesday. 9.8.2020. 743 AM CST.
Hi Carol, Hi Sally, Hi Jan!
Nat so sorry to hear about that careless fire. Horrid.
Yes I did: put together some OP time. OP since Friday. Lots of walking yesterday, home ab circuit, no law, no trip to the gym, did not even manage to get wash put away . . . but lovely evening with MF. We found a new park and had a nice stroll. I also hiked at Town Lake for most of the day. Very hot. Lots of long breaks sitting in the shade. Yes I can: be a grown up today and get lots of law and adulting done. Tonight: weight class and a nice swim. Now check mail, walk, home ab circuit. love, light and blessings janet

Happy Tuesday! So nice to pop on here this morning and see you here. Missed yesterday's post as my computer would not let me sign in! Sweetie fixed it this morning. Yesterday I woke up to thick fog mixed with smoke. A blessed wind picked up and blew it to the East and it was cool and comfortable all day. Talk about Gratitude I was sending thanks up every hour. Nat: I hear you on the stupidity of the gender reveal fireworks in a state where we have so many fires blazing. Through this whole Covid thing I am amazed at how people cannot delay gratification. "Must" get back to normal. The only way to get to normal is to NOT do what you would normally do. Crowds at the beaches and bay for the holiday here. Frustrating to see. I was invited to a lunch yesterday at my neighbors and had to decline because, of the 2 couples, one I do not know. I am around too many oldsters to take a chance. Yeah, I am bored and frustrated and lonely sometimes...but I'll live till we get some kind vaccine or instant testing. Anyway glad they got the extra people off your mountain and you stay safe. Our San Diego fire still raging and Santa Ana winds won't help. Don't smell smoke yet today and it's cool and overcast here. Sally: Thank you for the morning chuckle! What can I give up till we have a sane person in the White House??? Yes, I did... --lift heavy rocks and weeded yesterday in the Cactus Garden. I'm sore today so that means I used some muscle. Planted more seeds for Fall and Winter flowers. --harvested dill and made some homemade tartar sauce for fish tonight. --de-cluttered and organized folders of recipes and articles. Hi to Janet and Carol!!! Make it a good day. Jan

Good Tuesday Evening! So much for my posting every day...LOL!
Yes I did: --midday walk at big woods trails (slept late but not enough) --check on Old House, lawn finally got mowed, yay! Paid lawn guy & gave him some canned goods. --see police start to put up their nightly barricades downtown, just as I was leaving the area. Strange & unsettling times we live in for sure.
Back later...

Good Morning!!! love light blessings good health. Wednesday. 711 AM CST. September 9, 2020.
Hi Nat, hope things are better in your neck of the woods.
Hi Sally, this would be a bad time to be a kid. I think of that often when I see kids at the park going wild and wonder what it must be like for them to be cooped up most of the time. I think of a story book I used to love as a kid called Noisy Nancy Norris.
Jan yeah for sweeties and their fixes. Glad you are back online. I think you have a good take on "normal", I think it is a "new normal" similar to post 911.
Carol I am no longer certain that I know what "enough sleep" is but I am reasonably content with "more sleep". I am glad you got in a walk and yes, strange and unsettling times.
YES I DID: home ab circuit, a couple of short walks, law, weight training class, and a little swim. I have been OP since Friday morning. YES I CAN: set up the rest of the medical appointments that I had been putting off until the heat broke. Heat has broken here so passing the temperature scan to get into doctor's office is no longer an obstacle to receiving medical care. Law. Hopefully bank if that pesky check arrived today. Home ab circuit, spinning class, maybe short walks. Now, big girl pants and check mail. love light and blessings love light and blessings janet

Good Wednesday morning, positive 🐣🐣!
Sally - are you suggesting we head to Costa Rica? LOL! By the way, I still haven't had any pancakes since March. So I guess I can hold out until after the election😀
Nat & Jan - Sending a gentle cool mist to settle all the smoke and heat out west....Be safe out there!
Janet -- yay for staying OP and keeping up with workouts despite heat etc!
I didn't know if you had heard about the latest crisis in my area, Rochester, NY....it involves the death of an African-American man several months ago while in police custody, said custody having resulted from his mental health crisis. The issue is that there was an alleged cover-up of the circumstances of his death. There's been a lot of finger pointing, protests, calls for prosecution of officers, for resignations of Police Chief and Mayor (both of whom are minority, by the way). Hard to know who is culpable. Anyway, I'm just glad I don't work for local government anymore. What a mess: budget problems, unhappy constituents, lack of trust. On top of everything else!
Yes I DID: --get more sleep, but not quite enough...my head feels tired, you know, that lack-of-sleep almost headache? --get out for a pre-breakfast walk while it was still cool, quiet, and comfy --get a couple admin. chores done early, so that the rest of my day seems manageable
Yes I CAN: --make headway on decluttering, approach it with curiosity and joy
Be well! Carol

Happy Wednesday Morning. Carol: I have been watching the news with you in mind. You do not live too close to protests I hope. Thinking you are more out of town? Rochester news is getting good coverage on this coast. A positive outcome in November, the hope of a good leader for this country, certainly can't hurt. Your De-clutter Mantra Today: I live with only those things that make my spirit soar and my heart sing. Yes, I Did... --make a carrot cake and frosting from scratch yesterday for my Grande Dames and my Sweetie. Of course I had to try it. --work off the cake square by mowing, edging, raking, sweeping the front yard. My tangerine tree is FULL of fruit. Starts ripening in another 4-6 weeks. I may try canning tangerine marmalade this year. It's really good on roasted carrots and pork tenderloin and as a base for sauces. --see my little bunny rabbit this morning in the backyard. I put some stale cheerios out for the squirrels and I think the bunny liked them! Or maybe he heard I made carrot cake? LOL --order 2 Bollywood dance DVD's. Must motivate myself with the music and style I enjoyed at Jazzercise. May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you live in peace. Jan

Thinking of you Jan and Nat with the horrid fires. My brothers DIL (kids age 5 and 6 months,)had their house burn down in Oregon yesterday. Stay safe!
Amazing Carole- no pancakes since March- might have been part of the reason for your fab WI a few weeks ago? So sorry about city tension- crazy world!
Janet: you sound busy and happy.Go you!
Feeling itchy and cranky this am- may be the Jewish holidays approaching, feeling cranky about the absence of "community and family"- (always an issue) magnified by COVID crud.
Grumble grumble- OK- off to find my "big girl pants" (Thanks Janet)!

Good Morning!! love light blessings love light blessings GOOD HEALTH AND PEACE Thursday. 9.10.2020. 815 AM CST
Hi Nat, hope things are edging toward better. It is not looking good on the news.
Carol, I am so sorry to hear about those happenings. Much training is needed dealing with those in mental health crises. I know when I was at the Public Defender's Office we all received hours of training, had a specialized mental health unit, and multiple social workers on staff. I am with you with more sleep being not enough.
Jan I am also with you on taste testing - in my case cornbread made for MF. He complained about gaining weight so I now have an excuse to back off the baking. I am going to make some chicken soup next. I will make more chicken than needed for the soup and freeze it ready cut for salads. I don't eat chicken (or pot roast) but I sure do eat bread!
Sally community is soo important. Blessings.
Yes I did: spinning class, home ab circuit, and eat way too much cornbread. But, I also set the next round of appointments I had put off during the heat. Eye appointment is set, oil change . . . I am going to buy a spare pair of glasses even if my prescription has not changed. These current events have installed a deep need in me to be prepared for everything that I can be prepared for. Yes I can: add cornbread to tracker, finish the rest for bfast where I allow myself more points. Home ab circuit. Walking. Tonight weight class and swim if pool open and can find a lane. We compete with the swimming team for lanes and of course it closes during storms.
We have gotten lots of rain and it is blissfully cool here.
Okay big girl pants, deal with snail and email, but first save the world from the rest of my cornbread. love light and blessings janet

Happy Thursday!
Good news about the wildfires in our area since the expected Santa Ana winds did not show up. Just watched a news conference that was very positive for San Diego. Praying that the other fires will get a dose of rain. So sorry about your relatives in Oregon Sally. Opened up my page-a-day book and the heading was: When was the last time you danced? Can't wait for my Bollywood DVD to arrive tomorrow. Plus the cooler weather is giving me hope of some walks next week with my artist friend. Really trying to park my head in the right space for getting back to my core WW diet. I will do my grocery shopping today with that in mind.
Sally: I so understand the "grumpies" from loss of being able to enjoy family and community. Hang in there! My unrest comes from having my Sweetie work so many hours and on our time off not being able to really just get out and have any fun. On off time we have to take care of house and the business of life...no fun! I know you must really miss the concerts and getting together with friends too. You're not alone.
Janet: Hope you get a lane at the pool and find a spot for that cornbread. Thanks for the idea to cook some chicken ahead. I just made some lovely homemade Caesar dressing. As a dinner or lunch that will be a healthy diet meal.
Hi to Nat and Carol!
Yes, WE CAN... --stay healthy and O.P. today.

Good Thursday afternoon,positive 🐥🐥!
Jan - yay for better news about weather/wind/fires. And a smile for the little bunnies. Thanks for the mantra...I will embrace it today✨
Janet - I hope you get to enjoy some swimming. Kind of you to accommodate MF diet...what do you do for your own protein needs? I'm curious as I am trying to move towards more plant-based (but my Sweetie prefers chicken).
Sally - sending you a big hug...I'm so glad you are part of my community ❤️ I have enjoyed my Zoom meetings but I sure do miss seeing people up close, sharing meals and casual conversation! I do hear ya about holidays always being fraught with expectations...sigh...
Nat - sending you a smile and a laugh, also smoke-free air!
Yes I did: --enjoy Zoom computer club mtg last night. I miss my buds! I miss drinking coffee with them! --hit the farm stand for fresh corn, peaches, etc. YUM! --enjoy my first cello lesson of the school year. Still on Zoom. My dear teacher is a new Dad, sweet baby girl arrived just two weeks ago. --sign up for more Tap classes. They also will be Zoomed.
Yes I can: --get out for an afternoon walk!
Be well! Carol

Good Thursday evening positive peeps! Oh Sally, sorry to hear about your brother's family losing their home, so sad! We are closely watching the fire down below. They're hoping to keep it from marching further north. Our valley is 8 miles north of fire line, since unfortunately it won't march the 45 miles of winding highway to get to us, it would take the shortcut! It's a lot of trees to get through though, but can't underestimate a wildfire. They are really working though to save the homes in the three little communities down there. God Bless them all! Carol I really wish I could get on a more plant based diet. One of my friend's is working on it now, reading one of Neal Barnard's books. I may try to join her in the pursuit. Jan good news on the fires. It wasn't too bad up here today, at least I didn't smell smoke, but DH said down the mountain was pretty bad. He had to go to Anaheim Hills, and all down there is smokey. Oh Janet, cornbread yum! Doing some full time work the next few days to catch things up. Today I also received a call from one of the jobs I applied. It actually shocked me as it was the one least expected, full time, psych social clerk, M-F 8:30-5. After talking to several people, I'm pretty sure I will accept it. I am just a bit nervous because I don't know what to expect, and I did know if it was the pharmacy again. But I think it will be a better fit for me. I will call tomorrow, so will be in contemplative mode until then lol. When all of the family members I told had a surprised happy response, I guess that's a good sign. Yes I CAN: Keep the kitchen closed (made it 17 hr today) Get on the treadmill...I'm almost there. Finish up a little work Relax, don't stress, all will be fine! Nat
