WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C77D10, 6 water, 27 points, all ghgs, 1513 calories (380 gms sodium below goal), 5848 fitbit steps, STF-10, G22 Y1 R4 March.
Challenging events coming up – Passover (which I can handle) but then DS, DDIL, and DGK 4, 4 and 7 coming in for 5 days. There will be lots of eating out and most of my binges have occurred with this group. I can’t afford a repeat performance. I’ll just have to really keep focused. Scary.
Lori – SF is a great step in the right direction.
Cindy – How exciting to see DGK’s name in the paper. If early to bed is working, concentrate on that. Just think how great you’ll feel after Saturday’s WI if you do it all week. I bet you’ll lose the 4 and then some.
Meg – I wish I could say DH is excited. In all honesty, I think he’s more nervous about the commotion.
Jane – Haha – I’ve done that, i.e. calling after midnight eating the next day’s breakfast.
Edesia – Think of a day of carbs as a metabolism booster.
Beth – I bet the badminton ladies were thrilled to see you.
Jan – I remember when you did SF M-F. It’s strange, isn’t it, how we get in and out of habits. I bet getting back to it will help with your calorie count.
Kathy – How nice to hear from you. I hope to follow your lead when my family is here mid-April. If so, it would be a first. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!

I am on day 23 of my 90 day challenge and have succeeded for 19 of 22 days, including yesterday. Yesterday was a success although I was over calories by 145. I was simply very hungry and, eating, nutritiously, in response to hunger is fine. I also ate very carefully and that made me happy.
Nancy, I though that was unique on my part to shift after-midnight calories to my upcoming breakfast. I was never concerned because my eating issues are not related to time of day and because I knew it was a one time thing. Also, I contribute my hunger of yesterday evening, in part, to having eaten 200 calories hours before yesterday's breakfast. Meg, the comment that "Hey, I painted that," is hilarious.
I am finally going for my interview for the Global Entry Program today. It will get me on to airplanes more quickly and allow me to get through Customs more easily. That will be nice because I have a trip coming up at the end of the month and one in June.

Nancy, the sentence should have read, "Having eaten 200 calories hours before breakfast also contributed to to my hunger of yesterday evening. "

Top o' the morn to ya'!
Nancy...no ladies at baddy but the guys were happy to see me. I had fun!
This morning i'm off to pickleball then to spend the day at my folks. If i'm home by 7:00 pm i'll probably drive up to the Y for evening pickleball.
I've got my cooler packed...leftover broccoli potato soup and a chicken wrap in Lavash for lunch once i get to my folks...along with some carrots, grapes, clementines, string cheese to round out my lunch and for snacks in afternoon. IN case i end up going directly to the Y this evening i've also included some cottage cheese with pineapple and a handful of walnuts for a snack. I've got a banana in my pickleball bag in case i need something during the 3 hours of play this morning. Should be NO need to make any stops for food throughout the day. Right? Of COURSE right!
take care all!

Cals-7/7 K-7/7 SF-1/1
SF went well yesterday. And yes, Nancy, it was much easier to keep my calories in check!
Nancy, I apologized to my parents that the boys weren't more engaged with them on vacation. My mom just shrugged and said, "they're teenagers". It's amazing how the commotion goes away as they get older. When the boys were younger, I remember my dad saying he would miss us when we left but the quiet would be nice. I'm sure it's tough on your husband, who is used to a quiet, peaceful home.
Kathy, I'm so glad to hear that vacation is going well, and your food choices have been smart. Our time away really recharged my family. I wish the same for you.
Meg, great art museum story! It looks like the "new" kids are really thriving. I'm sure there are still issues, though. They've been through so much in their young lives.
Beth, it sounds like a great day!
Jane, where will you be traveling to this year? We've discussed how people without food issues are lucky; likewise, I envy the fact that you don't struggle with evening eating.

Hey, BFFS - My DMIL died last night, suddenly. Right before she died, literally 15 minutes before, DH and his sisters met with her doctors to discuss her condition and make a plan for discharge and care at home. She had been improving steadily and they just needed her to be able to walk on her own. DH and I were on the phone, his sisters were in the hospital. We all felt good after that meeting. A few minutes later, my DSIL called and said my DMIL was dying and we needed to get to the hospital right away. It was that quick. Everyone was in shock. Today, they'll make all the funeral arrangements. I will stop by and post when I can.

Oh, Edesia, what a shock. I am so sorry.
Jan, I am going on a New York Times, Medieval and Renaissance Art tour in Italy from late April until May 8. The featured guest lecturer on the tour is Holland Cotter, who is co-chief art critic of the NYT. I had finished my Political Science major very early when I was in college. So, I spent much of my last two years studying art history and the most interesting period for me was early Italian Renaissance art. I am in Peru for a few weeks starting in mid-June and in Japan, again, for what is possibly my last trip there, from October 1 through 15.

Hi Girlfriends! Edesia, you and family are in my prayers! Sounds like when we were discussing taking my DGM home from hospital and she suddenly passed away. It is so hard lossing a loved one. I sure miss my DM, 3 years this year. Meg really enjoyed reading about your homeschooling. Jane, wow sounds like wonderful vacations planned, our world traveler on here! Kathy, have fun on vacation! Where are you all? Nancy, got rid of my 4 lbs gained. DH told me yesterday instead of flying to Ft. Benning, Ga when DGS graduates from basic, he wants to drive. Over 800 miles from here, so have that mentally stuck in my mind that will have to stay on plan to be in shape for that trip and sightseeing (walking). Best incentive for me! Well, going to get off here and watch Patriot Games movie with DH. Love ya'll, Cindy
