Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week?

START BUILDING! BUT DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF...Brick by brick, step by step brings results!
I am a new woman! Went to the Urgent Care a little after 8 am. It wasn't very crowded, but it seemed as most of the people were there for Covid testing. One woman in particular was doing a lot of coughing as she was on the phone telling people how bad she felt. The place was very nice, I quizzed the person that registered me if they had any openings for DD. All in all, I was there a little over an hour, about 3 minutes with a nurse, another 3 minutes with the doctor. He sent a prescription for a Medrol dose pack to my Publix pharmacy and told me to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon if I wasn't better in a week. I decided to run a few errands to give the pharmacy time to fill the prescription. Got caught up in road construction by the lake, that's been going on over a year. Figured out a different route back home, through an area I had not seen before. Called the pharmacy from the parking lot to see if the prescription was ready, it was. It was nearly lunch time by the time I got home. Took the breakfast and lunch steroids, puttered around a little, had lunch. We had an appointment to get our pool passes at 1 pm, got our passes, although they are closing the pool for the season at the end of the month. After that we did a drive by of the hospital where DD applied. It's about a 30 minute drive from our house. Nearly 3:00 by the time we got back, I could tell I was already feeling better. Took a nap. DH was out running errands when I woke up. We had dinner, I watched a movie, took a bath, went to bed and fell right to sleep- yay! Still a little twinge-y in my hips, but feeling like I could try going for a walk this morning.
Jan- The fires out west are so awful. Hope it's warmer today for the trip to the cabin. A fireplace insert sounds like a good idea.
GG- WTG getting steps every hour. Glad you are able to help at DS's and learning a bit more about virtual schooling.
Carole- WTG for kickboxing!
Cindy- Glad DS was able to reconnect with his friend. I have children's LP's that I'm hanging onto, probably for no reason. We have two guest rooms set up- one with a queen bed, one with two twins. I also have a twin bed in my craft room and there are sofa beds in the the office and in the upstairs loft area. We are prepared to sleep a lot of people!
Murphy- What's going on??? Hugs!

Hi all! I decided to stay home and work from here today. You all know the drill. Same song, 100th verse!! I don't know when I will learn my lesson. I've been drinking straight since last Saturday. No trigger. Just being bored and when I got started I didn't stop. I did not drive though! I had enough wine to do me for several days. None left in the house and I'm going to just focus on recovering today. I haven't eaten in days so I am going to start with some toast. Of course I feel horrible emotionally and I know you are all here for me. I'm going to start this challenge tomorrow. Love you all! Murphy

FRESH START MONDAY! MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY 3 No intentional walk, some shopping 4 AP SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY 4 almost 8 hours NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY 1 Tracked, started strong, then screeching crash, donut, A, chips, coffee cake??? WTH JOURNAL ACCOUNTABILITY 4 Tracked it, wrote in journal, 3 gratefuls a day HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY 3 Emotionally happy and grateful each day, unhappy with my choice and crazy behavior. HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY 2 Gave in to both the habit and wasted time on the computer so didn't get my hourly steps CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY 5 Here! TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY 3 Worked in my craft room in the afternoon, found a paper sorter at the thrift and filled it up ANIM BUILD YOUR WALL OF RESOLVE CHALLENGE September 6 - October 31 September 6 start weight: 199 September 13: Good morning all. Getting my things ready to take up north. Took the "summer" clothes out of my suitcase and put in some warm tops and pants, which I could hardly find any that fit!!! I'm going to try to stay a week, a good place to dry out, and eat clean. Had a good plan for yesterday, then DH bought wine and I was all in. Down the slippery slope from there. Get up, brush off, today is another day that I am in control of. Murphy, we can do this. Still not sunny out this morning but I'm planning to spend a lot of my time at the cabin knitting, x stitching and reading. Only major project is for DH to finish painting. I have a Santa almost done, have a lot to work on a stocking for my cousin, baby was born 2 days ago, and found some new books at the thrift store to take with. I tried knitting at home the other evening, just won't happen when the cats are awake, at least downstairs! Better get a move on. I will check in from the library when I can. If I can convince all the family to chip in I may check into internet service for the cabin next year. The problem is you have to pay all year even though we wouldn't use it for so many months. I go back and forth, don't want the kids just up there on line, or even me get sucked in when it's supposed to be a place to unplug. But it also makes it easier to get in touch with DS or DH, look up places and businesses. We'll see. have a great day all. Jan Amy So glad you got some relief and it sounds like the meds are really helping. Does he mean see a surgeon for the hip? Do you think it's really compromised or just sore from all the activity and moving? Don't overdo it on a walk!! Sounds like a busy day. Murphy We will always be here and without judgement. I'm certainly no great example. It's just keep getting up and not giving in. I may revisit some of Annie Graces' Alcohol experiment while I'm up north. My brother had been struggling for a long time, not wanting to drink but same old story....then Covid came and he just decided enough and has quit for over 6 months! He has inspired me and I need to stay the course. My DSIL still has wine everyday and he has many temptations but has just found the switch for now. We will find it too!! There are many "reasons" to want to check out right now, the world is a mess, but we each need to keep fighting for our own little piece of sanity. Hugs girl. Carole Glad you can still get to kickboxing. Do they space you out, or is this something you're doing at home online? yay for DH doing projects around the house. Is he working at all? Have fun on vacation! GG Yay for helping out DS and spending time with the GK. Sorry it's still hard for Jack to enjoy reading. Is it sounding out words or just doesn't like it in general? Do you know if he's right or left eye dominant? That can make a difference, tho not much you can do. You give someone a paper towel roll or even rolled up paper and have them look through it. A person will naturally go to their dominant eye to look. Left eye have a harder time with reading as we track all books etc from right to left and they have to adjust to track with the left eye. Sounds crazy I know. Keep up the good work on your lists!! Cindy Glad DS was able to reconnect with his friend. Is he still seeing the GF and her kids? Sorry about losing some of the plants, could the rose be transferred into a big pot to save it? I agree about the BB season, it will be a tribute to Kobe and BLM. The kitties are great but quite the terrorists, they run and fight and play for about 3 hours every morning. If we get past that, then they sleep I feel like after this trip north, I will be hiding out in the house until 2021!! Good time to catch up on all my paperwork, cleaning, etc. We were able to go though some of the things DS left behind this time and really get rid of them. Figure he's "launched" and if he wanted them he would have taken them. Now his kids books and a few stuffed animals, that's me not being able to give them up Cathy Thinking of you. Hoping for some internet and contact soon.

BUILD YOUR WALL OF RESOLVE CHALLENGE September 6 - October 31
Hi girls. DH talked me into getting Provitalize. It’s a probiotic that is supposed to do all kinds of stuff. I told him the only thing I’ll probably lose is my money. I’m hoping it will help with sleep and bloating, if nothing else. After I eat or drink I feel so bloated and can burp over and over and over again. It’s supposed to take awhile to get into my system, so time will tell.
Amy: I’m so glad you went to Urgent Care and feel better already! I’m sure it’s fun driving around and getting acquainted with the area!
Jan: Enjoy the solitude! Jack skims. We make him read out loud to make sure he understands, and he missed easy words. He goes fast and doesn’t comprehend. I told him I have to slow down and read out loud too, or I don’t retain things.
Murphy: So happy to see you post!
Cindy: I’m glad DS could reconnect! Jack is having a hard time with math too, only because he is going too fast. Of course, common core is CRAZY!! So much work to get to a number! I kept saying to my son, are you smarter than a fifth grader? It’s nuts!
Carole: Where are you headed?
Cathy: Sure do miss hearing from you!

Hi again. I managed to get quiet a bit of work done today. In spite of having very trembling hands! I haven't eaten but I will have a piece of toast later. Back to work tomorrow and then I'm going to work on Saturday to make up some hours. Thank you again for all your love and support!

Hi friends! Jan when you said it’s a hard time now it made me think of my dr appointment. She kept saying I’m on a high dose of antidepressants. I thought about it and said I’d be willing to try a lesser dose. She said not now, not during Covid.
Gg, I’m going to Florida on Saturday! Jeff’s grandma gave all the grand kids money and I said let’s not be responsible! Although I think he’s forgotten I’m going to FL in October with my girlfriends!
Amy, I’m glad you’re feeling so much better.
Murphy, when I go to FL with my friends I should be AF. It’s so stupid for me to try moderation—it ruins the day after terribly. Like you said, why do we keep doing this to ourselves?
Cindy, my perennials don’t seem to last, I usuallly just plant annuals now. I hope your wrist feels better.

Evening,
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
Fresh Start Monday! What is your accountability for the week? Being accountable??
Move More Accountability
Increasing my daily steps to get back to 10K a day! Almost back to 5K...need to make a better effort
Sleep Accountability okay
Nutrition Accountability AF. Breakfast burritos for dinner..low carb tortilla!
Happiness Accountability
Better day, beautiful weather!
Habit Accountability Working on that.
Check In Daily Accountability HERE! This is helping!
Amy, love the TOTD, made me laugh! Very glad that you went to Urgent and are having good results from the Medrol Dose pak. Did you try for a walk? Hope a position comes through for DD. Sounds like you had a wonderful day with a bit of unplanned exploring!
Jan, have fun at the cabin! DS is still seeing the GF and kids. Her company "wants" to transfer her to Arkansas. It is really "your job is now in Arkansas". Her ex husband probably wouldn't let her take the two young kids, and the older two don't want to go. As the oldest said, you ruin everything Mom as soon as we are happy. So don't know how that will go. She many lose her job if she doesn't go. DS does not want to move there either...we did a short stint there many years ago. I agree about hibernating till 2021. Maybe by then my house will be cleared/clean.
Cathy, miss seeing your posts.
GG, hope the Provitalize helps. I'm still trying to make "BOOST" a daily habit...Hungry Girl swears by it.
MURPHY!, so glad to see your post. Hang in there, hopefully get a decent night sleep, and absorb strength from us. Glad you were able to get some work done and can put some hours in on Saturday. What are your other plans to prevent boredom? Hugs!
Carole, where are you going? I'm sorry if I missed the post.
Not sure what tomorrow will bring. Will figure it out after getting some sleep.
Hugs to all, Cindy

THURSDAY: AF/OP/was without water, phone and internet a LOT this week. I remained positive but it was frustrating. Today's lunch will be zucchini soup with some white beans and other veggies and cheese veggie wraps. I am ready to soak in a pool on a raft...ah well...no pool, no raft, life goes on.
AMY: I am glad the steroids are helping. I hope your DD finds a great job in the area. Your house sounds to be more and more settled and once you can have guests again you will be ready to receive and host many!
MURPHY: (((HUGS)))
JAN: I hope you have a relaxing productive tim at the cabin. If you have access to the internet when you need it then there is probably no reason to have it year round at the cabin BUT you will figure out what is best...eventually.
GG: Glad you are there to help with your grandchildren's homework as they learn at home. My granddaughter is learning her times tables and not thrilled by them at all. I remember my son (her father) being a whiz at them and yet know that every child is different. Let us know if the probiotics make a difference.
CAROL: I hope you have fun in Florida!
CINDY: Would the woman your son is seeing leave her children to go to the job in Arkansas? It might be a good test to see if there is anything truly there that will hold them together or not.
I am trying to catch up with emails, posting reviews, etc. I hate having services cut.
