I heard from Chele and Iggy did well. It was a defibrillator implant, not a pacemaker. He has to spend the night in the hospital. She is still pretty tired so he sent her home.
Bob's new car is having problems already, Linda? That didn't take long. Sounds inconvenient to have to push a button every time you take off from a traffic light. Then what a bizarre turn of events afterward. Congrats on getting the ants to move on. Hope today was less crazy.
Becky, do you have cooler weather today? Trump was making a big deal about Democrats sending out onsolicited ballot applications. What would he say if he found out about your Republican representative? Good luck at your PT assessment tomorrow. I wonder if you will have a different therapist than you had for your knee. It hasn't been that long so I know they will remember you and be glad to see you. Is that low pressure in the Gulf going to bring you any rain?
I used to work a lot of overtime, too, Denise, in my paramedic days. It was nice on payday but if you do enough of them in the same week, it got very tiring. Do you have the weekend off?
Kathy, it doesn't look like Paulette or Rene have moved since yesterday but it looks like both are heading to the open seas, which is good for all of us. Both are supposed to become hurricanes but if they hit land, it could be Canada. Are you getting rain today? We have bright sunshine and mid 80s but it's pretty humid. I stopped at a different Walgreens today and found the lotion to match the body wash I found last week. It really helps so if I apply it frequently over the next few days, I can beat this thing.
I picked up my check at the fair on my way home from Osteo and the gym. $35 to spend on new plants. Don't know if you saw on the national news that we have a tiger on the loose in Knoxville. They have humane traps set for it but no luck catching it yet. They have no idea where it escaped from but are theorizing that someone was keeping it illegally after watching Tiger King.
Waving to Liz.

Supper tonight on Reisers mashed potatoes I make all the liquid but half the solids for two of us and leftovers. I use A bit of oregano because DH hates thyme. I do half the time on stove top
HEARTY BEEF STEW OCT 16, 2017 BY: JENNIFER DANTER AND THE CANADIAN LIVING TEST KITCHEN Canadian Living Magazine: November 2017
Cocoa powder might seem like an unusual ingredient to add to a savoury stew, but it adds an extra hit of toasty richness and colour, but without any of the sweetness you might associate with dessert. It’ll be your new favourite secret ingredient! Prep time
15 minutes. Slow cooker on low 8 hr 8 servings
1.35 kg beef stewing cubes , cut in 1 1/2-inch chunks 1 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 4 carrots , coarsely chopped 1 onion , chopped 3 cloves garlic , finely grated or pressed 1 pkg (14 g) dried mixed mushrooms 3 sprigs fresh thyme 2 bay leaves 2 1/2 cups sodium-reduced beef broth 1/2 cup dry red wine 3 tablespoons tomato paste 2 teaspoons cocoa powder 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup cornstarch 1/4 cup water Gremolatta: 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley 2 teaspoons lemon zest 1 clove garlic , finely grated or pressed
Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper; place in slow cooker. Add carrots, onion, garlic, mushrooms, thyme and bay leaves. Whisk together broth, wine, tomato paste, cocoa powder and Worcestershire sauce; pour over beef. Cover and cook on low until beef is tender, about 8 hours. Skim fat from surface of cooking liquid. Discard thyme and bay leaves. Whisk cornstarch with water until smooth; stir into slow cooker. Cover and cook on high until thickened, about 15 minutes. Gremolata: Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir together parsley, lemon zest and garlic. Spoon stew over mashed potatoes; sprinkle with Gremolata. Test Kitchen Tip: Save on washing another pot for mashed potatoes by adding 675 grams of halved mini potatoes to the slow cooker with the stew. Using slotted spoon, remove potatoes and mash to desired consistency. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Karen, thanks for the update on Chele and Iggy. That's a relief to know he's doing well. We had a downpour earlier today. We had some record rain yesterday just to the south of where I am. They got over 5 inches and I think we probably got 2 or 3. Glad I didn't turn the sprinklers on. Congrats on the big winnings! That'll be fun to pick out some new plants. Wow on the tiger in Knoxville. Hope they catch it soon before anything bad happens. That is not something I'd be expecting to run into around there! Chele, thinking of you and Iggy today. Glad to hear that he's doing well and hope you can get some rest tonight.

Glad a Iggy is ok.
The button you push so the car does not do economy mode is when you first get in, not every time. There is no way to turn it off all the time.
lot of laundry today, dishwasher run, folding, And I have pm dog walk to do yet.
yesterday dry 89, today 92. Lovely. More smoke reaching us...scratchy throat, stinging eyes by afternoon and no idea how people there can stand it. Past student who lives in San Diego in airplane engineering said new model is being used for targeting specific spots and there is a lot of Federal help but the situation is huge.

Thanks for the start Karen. Thanks for the update on Iggy.I'm glad he did well.I'm sorry he has to spend the night in the hospital but glad he sent her home.I woke up to a wonderful 57 degrees and the high was 66 degrees since it was cloudy all day. This is our lowest temp recorded on 9/10.The Republican representative is a state representative out of Bastrop County.I think it was a scam because I have heard of other states doing the same thing. One woman in another state got a ballot for her dead cat who was gone for 12 years. This wasn't an actual ballot. It was an application for a mail in ballot. In TX you have to be 65,disabled or unable to vote in your county on election day although they are still going through courts trying to get it changed.I have no idea who I will have tomorrow.Sometimes I get a different one each time. They had 3 therapists when I last went so I will see.We won't get anything from the Gulf but there is a low coming from the north I think they were saying. We don't have another chance of rain until next Tuesday-Thursday but highs may be cooler than normal for the next 7 days.I hadn't heard about the tiger.Did you hear they are thinking about moving the World Series to Arlington,TX?They have already moved the National Pro Rodeo in December from Las Vegas(where it's held every year)to Arlington where the Rangers have a big stadium. At least nobody will be taking a knee at the rodeo.
Kathy There were places in Central TX that got 5-8 inches of rain yesterday. We were definitely not involved in that.
Chele Prayers for Iggy and thinking of you both today.

finished my book and went to sleep early...for 11 hours except for 30 minutes up to give Micki a shot and for me to soothe throat with hot weak tea. Nasty sinus drip lately. Not feeling good in general.
got three loads laundry done, folded, stew started to cook long time on low, five pm dog walk. Quiet night
