Good morning friends. Woke up to overcast sky and the temperature is holding at 66. Last night we were able to sit out and sip our Chianti while listening to the sounds of mother nature. We also heard the train which was extra loud and long.
Happy to say that there will be no shopping today. Never thought I'd be happy about that. I'd love to browse a few places, but just too afraid. This is getting really old. All we can do is make the best of it, doing 'little things' to perk ourselves up.
Yesterday while out walking LuLa later in the day, we got to talk to another couple for a bit and that felt good. Just enough to for a change of scenery.
Our little 'social gathering' that was planned for tonight isn't going to happen. Family matters prevented the other 2 couples from it. I totally understand.
Still need to find that 'book' to get involved with. So far no luck....just lots of deleting involved LOL.
Happy Thursday all and I'll CBL

Good morning!
When I came here to post, I found yesterday's post which I had neglected to press enter for. If you're interested, it's there now.
I also slept well and kept on sleeping after turning my alarm off. I guess I needed it. But it meant walking in higher temps. I made it 2.5 miles, but really had to push the last half mile. I'm so glad Debbie will be back tomorrow to distract me from the heat, sweat and tiredness.
I plan to have a brunch today. Since we have to leave at 11:30 to get DH to hyperbaric on time, that seems to work best. I eat the same as I would if I ate 2 meals, just a little less and my yogurt and fruit is like dessert. The scale is looking promising for tomorrow's official WI and I want to toe the line until then. So lots of protein, fruits and veggies on the menu. I plan to have a light English muffin with ham & cheese, okra (I'm enjoying lots while it is fresh) and my yogurt, fruit and seeds. That should hold me until dinner, which will be a baked potato topped with thinly sliced roast beef or pork, depending upon which I grab first from the freezer. I haven't decided yet which veggies we will have.
My library book, City of Girls, is about to be repossessed, so I will look for another I already have saved on either Glose, Kindle or my BlueFire Reader, until my hold brings it back.
Time to get a shower and food so I will be ready on time. It drives DH nuts because I am a last minute type of gal. I'll check back in later to see what's going on with y'all.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Thursday! Another great night's sleep at our house! The past two nights I have turned on my diffuser with lavender essential oils in it - and I swear that is making a difference. I went to bed after 10 and was probably asleep by 10:30 and slept until 7:30 this morning. That is about right for me.
I did some more cleaning off of the patio yesterday and cleaned out some stuff from the garage. I filled our trash bucket which was good. DH and I looked at other sizes of fire pits online, then went out to our patio with the tape measure, and he still is adamant about wanting the 30" one. This is one of those "pick your battles" moments. I would prefer a smaller one, but it's his toy and not worth hurting his feelings over. I was also hoping I wouldn't have to store the grill over the winter, but we did find room for it in the garage, so if it doesn't go away, we'll move it. We will definitely need that space on the patio for the fire pit.
Ann ~ GFY for deleting books from your reader. I need to do that someday as well. I bet you're loving those 66 dg temps!! I know we are. It was in the low 60's when I woke up and our high won't even get above 70. Unfortunately, we haven't seen the sun for several days and may not any time soon. I need to make a fresh batch of spearmint sun tea but this one will take longer, I fear.
Pam ~ I think your walking indoors at Walmart was a perfect solution. My chiropractor used to advise me to go to Meijer and walk the perimeter of the store when the weather was not conducive. I am still partial to DQ ice cream. Funny to remember that ‘back in the day’ DH bought me a medium blizzard and him a large. Now we split a small with me taking 1/3 off the top. They are pointy, but much easier to fit in with the smaller amount and the fact that we only eat them every once in a while. Thanks for the kudos about my 25 lbs! Congrats on seeing a number you haven’t seen for a time!
Judy ~ My George Foreman is the ‘family size’ which would fit (for example) 6 burgers instead of 4. We used to have the square one, back in the day when the plates were not removable. DH hated cleaning it! One night on the spur of the moment, he said ‘get in the car’ and we went to Target and bought the larger one with removable plates. The Panini is probably the 4-burger size, but still very handy! I find I am using mine less and less, especially with the Instant Pot. I still love it for steaks, etc.
I am undecided what I am going to do today. I have some laundry ready to go in to wash, and a list for Meijer, but I may just blow today off and look at tomorrow. I have several things on my "to do soon" list but none that tickle my fancy today. I watched a briefing by our governor this morning and she is reinstating high school sports but WITH masks! You should see all the grumbling on FB!!
I had poached eggs for breakfast with 1/2 serving of grits and a fruit bowl. For lunch I had a cup of Zero Point Soup (almost time to make that again) and a fresh peach. Tonight will be Brisket Hot Dogs with whole wheat buns and I haven't decided what sides yet. We have mac 'n cheese which we both love!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Just got back from a short hood walk. Went to pick up the mail. When we started out it was sprinkling and not bad...then the sun came out full force which make it like a sauna out there. I will NOT be walking anytime soon. Not unless it's not raining when the sun FINALLY goes down LOL. Call can't get here quick enough! Pam it's much nicer having a walking buddy. I used to walk with 2 gals. Unfortunately one moved and the other gal is not walking or doing much of anything. She is happy and content to just sit and be. I've called her a few times before COVID and she just isn't ready...her words, not mine. Oh well.....so I walk with Carl and LuLa. I'm ahead of them as walking slow bothers my back for some reason. I enjoy walking more when LuLa isn't with us as her sniffing slows me down LOL. Good luck with DH appointment. That's smart to plan ahead like that. yeah to a promising scale Your supper sounds good. Hope you find a good book to read. Sue I also have the GF with the removable grates. That makes life SO MUCH EASIER. I found that I hardly ever used the other one as it was too much work to clean. Finally we donated it and I hope it's in a happier home with someone with more patience than me LOL. Wise decision to let HD choose the size on the fire pit, Sue. I find that with things like that, it's just easier all the way around. Men truly DO love their toys LOL. We have 2 smokers and 2 grills and Carl uses them all. Why 4 for 2 people? I don't know and nope, not going to ask LOL. I'll add myself to the list of walking in shopping places. I used to love going to Market Basket here in town as that supermarket is HUGE. I'd walk the perimeter and then go up and down the aisles. Of course with COVID I don't even bother to go there as it's too big and crowded...even through they screen and only let a few people in at once. They never have enough cashiers opened to take care of business in a timely fashion which just goes against my grain! I'll stick to Hannaford's and do my walking inside the house if need be. I had oatmeal with strawberries for breakfast an apple later as a snack dipped in a little peanut butter, my veggie bean soup for lunch and tonight I have leftover Italian sausage which I plan on turning into American chop suey or as some folks call it goulash. This is the end of my week...my weight lower than it has been, so I'll splurge. Judy hope all is well with you DH and DD. Will pop back in later. I am not an ice cream lover...but I do love soft serve DQ was always my favorite and I'm also fond of the cones at McDonald's.

Hi All ~ I am just back from a long walk. It is still grey and dreary and 64 dg. But the walk was good. I stretched my legs and back and worked up a bit of a sweat despite the cool temps.
Ann ~ Thanks for the kudos on letting DH pick the fire pit he wants. I usually *try* to indulge him - like with the grill (that he never uses). But now that we need to re-purpose that space he is finally of a mind to get rid of it. I will say the first couple of years, he cooked meat for the entire week on Sunday as well as veggies, etc. I did very little cooking during the week.
I also had the smaller GF with the attached plates. I cooked on it and DH always did supper dishes and ended up with the chore of balancing it on the edge of the sink to try and wash it without getting it wet. So as soon as he saw one with removable plates, he was all in!! The fact that it was bigger made it even better. We re-gifted the older one to our great-nephew who had just gotten his own apartment and loves to cook. I can now do two BIG steaks at the same time. When it is time, I will definitely replace it. Tonight I am grilling 5 hot dogs and then 4 hamburger patties on it. The hot dogs are for tonight and one more supper later on;and the hamburgers are for future. I very seldom cook just one thing on it.
I remembered last night (lying in bed) that inside of our grill there is a magnetic box with a set of keys (front and back door). I did not want to forget them and sell the grill with them still inside. I had to wrestle with the cover today but did manage to retrieve them and put them somewhere else. Another bit of clutter out of my mind, thank goodness!
I am going to go watch some afternoon news and play WWF until DH gets home. Tomorrow I have to go to the CU and also to Meijer. But tonight is mine, all mine.

Sue awesome that you got a walk in. I was happy I went when I could as it poured buckets here. It's still raining now, but not as bad. Thing is the rain brought the humidity with it. Hopefully when it stops raining the heat will go along with it.
So happy that you remembered the key in the magnetic box!
I can see your smiling as you say 'tonight is all mine' LOL...enjoy.
Supper is done and kitchen is all wiped down. Just waiting now on the rain....Luckily LuLa is laying on her section of the sectional and not wanting to go out.
Enjoy the rest of the day and talk tomorrow.

Good evening!
I took a trip to Dirt Cheap while DH was in treatment and picked up several pkgs. of gel clings, color books and other Halloween-themed stuff for the little DGKs. I also found a Sandra Brown novel I haven't read, for $1.50. Then I went back to Walmart for bandaids. I have a sore spot on one toe that is aggravated by walking and we were down to one bandaid. After we got home, I decided I would go to Mass this evening, instead of tomorrow morning. We have to leave an hour earlier so DH can see the doctor before hyperbaric and I didn't want to feel rushed to fit in a walk.
Dinner is done, the kitchen is cleaned and DH is watching football, so he is quite happy. At this point, I don't think he even cares who is playing, just so he gets to watch football, lol. Actually, one of LSU's former players is now a KC Chief, so that adds some interest. I plan to get jammified and read. I am feeling tired today, so plan on an early bedtime. I think all my busy days have finally caught up with me.
Last evening, Dee sent me a text that a bear had been spotted in a tree behind my neighbor's house across the street. She is my DB's sister-in-law so I checked with him. Nope. Today, Dee sent me a pic and said the bear was actually at the next house down, the neighbors' who cat-sit for us when we're on vacation. I checked with them. Nope. BUT, she had heard there was a bear at the other end of our street about 6 blocks away. Bingo! That woman's next-door neighbor has the same first name as my DB's SIL. Mystery solved! I am glad it was at the other end of the street. I worry enough about coyotes eating my cats without having to worry about a bear. Brown bears are numerous in Louisiana and a nuisance. Dee's explanation was she just repeated what she heard through the grapevine. Small town gossip is notoriously unreliable.
Ann - We are supposed to get rain tomorrow and everyday this weekend. We really need the moisture. I'm wishing us both a good WI tomorrow.
Sue - Good thing you remembered the keys! You would probably have had to change all locks if you hadn't remembered. Our DQ closed several years ago. Sonic seems to be more popular than DQ in our area.
Judy - Waving! I hope all is well with you.

Hi all!
Just a short note to tell you all I enjoyed reading your posts at the end of the day. I had a very busy work day and four one hour Zoom meetings. Phew! I started the day early with my counselor/therapist at 8 am. She’s great and I’m so thankful I found her. I chose her because I liked her name Bonnie. I had a second mom named Bonnie in Arizona. She was a neighbor but just like a mom. I lived her and we stayed in touch every year and then some until she died two years ago. Her name Bonnie was a good omen because this counselor is terrific so far. I also was able to chat with my daughter-in-law in New Jersey And the baby.
I had to dash out to CVS to pick up a prescription for DH. I wasn’t too thrilled to be in the store because it was fairly crowded especially at the pharmacy. I had my N 95 mask on and everyone is masked as they are required to be here but it still makes me nervous. My friend told me a story about how she recently went to the pharmacy and it was crowded so they called out another clerk to help. The clerk arrived with her mask down around her neck. People pointed It out to her and response was “I’m on my break!” Can you imagine??!!
Pam, when I make the zucchini casserole I use grated fresh Parmesan cheese and some sharp cheddar. I also add garlic, basil and oregano in with the grated cheese. The cheeses are pungent enough and add so much flavor that I really don’t need too much of them. I also agree with you that we have pretty good luck with Craig’s list as well. I did sell my car that way last week. Sometimes I find that if you get one good offer, you should take it. I’m so glad that your DH is hyperbaric treatments are coming along well. Glad you found some goodies on your shopping trip. I like Sandra Brown too.
Ann, today’s weather was simply oppressive. It’s ridiculously humid for mid-September, isn’t it? My DH said he hopes this is not a sign of things to come with global warming and so forth. It is so hot out still that our windows in front are steamed up with the A/C on!
Sue, it sounds like you get a lot of use out of your George Foreman grill. I’m also amazed at how often you use your instant pot. You inspire me to get mine out now that the cooler weather is here – well it’s really NOT here but it will be coming! I also agree with you on choosing your battles especially when it comes to the size of a fire pit. In the long run it won’t matter and if it makes him happy, why not? I always think it’s those little concessions that make a marriage happier. I see so many small issues blow into much larger ones. By fighting little issues, we make each other miserable. It took me a long time to figure that out! I think one of the best parts of being married a long time is how much we both learn to let things go. I certainly wasn’t always like that.
Well I’m off to bed and feeling pretty tired so I’ll be back tomorrow. Have a good night!😴
