Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week?

CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY

TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work.

DH & I walked around the clubhouse, no problem. It felt cooler than the temperature of 81 b/c it was overcast. DH spied what looks to be another trail, I think we are going to check it out today. After breakfast, I took a shower, washed my hair, and hit the couch waiting for it to dry a bit. 3 hours later... I finally got up, finished my hair, & put out a few pictures around the house. Not very productive. My shins are aching a bit this morning, not that bothersome, but need to pay attention to it. Doing pretty well with my eating, did not get the munchies with the steroids. DH is hot to buy a golf cart and went out looking at them yesterday. A lot of people in the community have them and it would be handy to take to the nature trail, clubhouse, and Publix. I am concerned about the $$$ and is there room in the garage? Thinking about that was part of the sleeplessness last night.
Murphy- Hugs! Thanks as always for your honesty. Glad you were able to work from home.
Jan- Sorry about your not so stellar day. It would be difficult for me to be at your cabin for long periods of time without phone or internet. I think the urgent care doc recommended follow up with an ortho surgeon if I continue to have hip pain for steroid injections.
GG- GL with the probiotic. I take one, not sure it does much.
Carole- Have a great time in Florida!
Cathy- WTG AF/OP. Sorry about the continued problems with water/phone/internet.

Good morning all! I'm at my smaller clinic this morning and that was easier on my emotions to come back today. I am still planning to work tomorrow though. I also need to do some HOA stuff because the board hasn't been meeting the last 3 months. We were taking a summer/COVID break.
Amy - I am so happy for you that you are enjoying retirement! Good luck to DD in the job search! And it is so great to hear you talk about DS coming over so much!
Jan - I think the state of our country has everyone on edge. Sometimes I think I might do better to cut down on my computer time!
Cindy - Has DS had any good job prospects yet? I am glad he's not thinking about moving!
Cathy - I'm so sorry you have had such problems with the water and internet!
Carole - have fun in Florida!
GG - I'm glad that you can help with the kids virtual learning. I hope that Jack learns to slow down with his reading so he will enjoy it more.
Did you hear about all the excitement in TN this week? We had a plane make and emergency landing on the interstate, there is a bear roaming in the city, there is a TIGER roaming in the area (they don't know where it could have come from!) and apparently there is a wallaby loose in far East TN! I'm afraid to ask if 2020 can get any crazier! I hope you all have a safe and calm Friday!! Murphy

I used to think I'd never know the difference between serenity and depression because depression subdued me. —S.H.
Depression is familiar to us all, and less incapacitating than it used to be. We have made progress - we can be assured. "This too shall pass" is not an empty slogan.
Each of us can recall, with ease probably, a period we thought we'd never survive. Maybe our problem was family-related, or a tough on-the-job situation. Or maybe we felt inadequate and lacking in strength to cope with all situations. But we managed. Here we are today, taking charge of our lives and moving forward in search of serenity.
Serenity no doubt eludes us, again and again, throughout the day. But we can let our minds rest. We can give our thoughts to the wind, and serenity will find us. Serenity's peace nurtures us, strengthens us to withstand the turmoil ahead. There is always turmoil ahead. Life's lessons are found there. The irony is that a life with no problems doesn't offer the opportunities we must have if we are to grow.
I will let the serene moments wash over me. I will cherish them. They soften me. And the blows of today's tumultuous storm will be lessened.

Hi again. I'm home from work. It was a good productive day and of course that makes me feel better. I did find out this afternoon that the man from church who does all the big cooking and should have been cooking for Motel Ministry this Sunday has tested positive for Covid. He was at choir rehearsal Weds night and then he cooked for all the people at Celebrate Recovery last night. Of course I wasn't exposed to him but I worry about all the people at CR. So we got an emergency message asking people to bring pots of chili for the people at the motels on Sunday. I had put in my Walmart order to pick up on Monday afternoon but I was able to change it to tomorrow afternoon so I'll have plenty of stuff to make at least one big pot of chili. Can't promise how it will taste since I never make it the same way twice! LOL I'm grateful to be able to help. I pray that Larry and his wife will be ok. Would appreciate prayers for all of us! This ministry is so important and the people count on us. Murphy

Quiet day if I'm checking in!!
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
Fresh Start Monday! What is your accountability for the week? Being accountable??
Move More Accountability
Increasing my daily steps to get back to 10K a day! It might be good if I check to see if my Fitbit is charged!! Fresh start tomorrow!
Sleep Accountability Not great! Could not find a comfortable spot for my left shoulder...tossed and turned, added pillows, threw pillows! I think Ainsley was sighing at me!
Nutrition Accountability AF. Did Firehouse subs with DS. At least I chose a medium. Don't know what will be consumed before bed.
Happiness Accountability Okay
Habit Accountability Working on that.
Check In Daily Accountability HERE! This is helping!
TGIF for no other reason than I still hope the weekends are days off!
Amy, glad the steroids didn't bring munchies. I am finding meloxicam does. Golf carts can be addictive, you may need two! Maybe a used one?
Carole, have a wonderful time in Florida! FB pics??
Murphy, so glad to see your posts...I am just a text or call away. Sending strength, resolve, and check in here vibes so we can be here for you! Very scary about the Covid positives. For me, I think, we don't test for flu, we wait until the person has symptoms...I am just confused and fatigued with it all. With all that, I am pretty sure I had a stomach bug, then DS had a stomach bug and now GF has a stomach bug....new bug? Hibernation!! I so remember the Thought of the day...I used part of it for a challenge. I'm sure your chili will be much appreciated. Warm and nurturing!
All I could think was Tigers, Wallabys and Bears, Oh My!
Cathy, it is a mess about the GF's kids. Her ex husband is father of the two youngest. She is not allowed to take them out of state so she would have to go to court if he doesn't agree. The two older ones (different father) don't want to go. Not sure what she will do because to complicate things, she was accepted into a teaching degree program today. I think there is more to the story that either she isn't sharing or seriously doesn't understand regarding the job. My son goes for broken birds but this is the first one with kids. Hope your water is back on!
Hi GG and Jan!
Okay, in the world of stupidity...hey, the ladder is still in my closet! Hey, there are three things I want up on the top shelf. DUH, lost my balance, fell off ladder but managed to stay on my feet with some twisting of back. DS told me he is locking up the ladders. I just don't understand why I can't keep my balance on a ladder.
I see better sleeping with pharmaceuticals tonight. I am just tired and have no oomph.
Better day tomorrow! Hugs, Cindy

New update: there is a stomach "flu" going around...so much fun.
Watching 9/11 Remembrances and remembering that day. Amy, thanks for the remembrance TOTD. Was watching news when the first plane crashed into Tower 2....woke up DS, called DH and told him to get to a TV at work and called my Mom so she would be prepared when she turned on the TV. Stayed by news for the rest of the day. If we don't remember our history we are bound to repeat it.
Hugs!

FRIDAY: AF/OP/tracked on ITB/no exercise BUT since there is water again...maybe today so I can shower afterward
I think that we will have hummus with tomatoes, green pepper and onion for lunch today. I will probably have some sliced radishes with it and eat it with wild&brown rice as hubby has his with bread. We have fruit for dessert and might have the fruit with yogurt. No real news except I am enjoying being online and trying to catch up AND am enjoying the water being back on and filling the tanks on the roof again.
AMY: It sounds like you are finding new paths to walk and enjoying your new home and neighborhood. I know you will make the right decision about the golf cart. Is it something that can be used year round?
MURPHY: Sounds like a zoo is loose in TN...or a traveling circus was attacked by aliens, saw the animals in cages and let them go. Stay safe Sorry to hear that the main cook for motel ministry has covid-19. I worry about you in choir and out in the community!
CINDY: I hope your DS will find a good job and a good woman without too many troubles or children...AND, as I read about the ladder visualized one with handrails and a mechanism to raise you mechanically up and lower you back down. Be careful! Sorry about the stomach bug!
Carol & Jan: hope you are enjoying yourselves!
What will you be accountable for today? FRESH START Saturday! MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY: Nothing while without water BUT plan to walk at least 20 minutes (maybe more) today)SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY: Working on it...went to bed after midnight (1am?) and was up a bit before 8 so not badNUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY: I am getting in most of the ghg's but did have a higher carb dinner last night because I felt like it and decided my body must need it. Had fruits and veg and all the rest earlier in the dayJOURNAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Tracking food and activity on ITB and also tracking on paperHAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY: I focus on the positive and yesterday, getting the internet, phone and water fixed was a definitely happy maker. I am worried about the fires, my brother-in-law's recent cancer diagnosis and the decisions he and my sister will be making BUT am focusing on the positive and choosingi happiness instead of negativityHABIT ACCOUNTABILITY: My habits at this point are the exercise (needs work) and tracking food/staying OP (okay) and tracking GHGs (on itb) and alcohol (that is counted in points on itb) I want to start adding in few other things related to housekeeping BUT keep putting that offCHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY: I am here TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY: My time is my own...I am doing okay getting the books read and reviewed but need to start adding in the exercise and housekeepingBUILD YOUR WALL OF RESOLVE CHALLENGE September 6 - October 31 September 6 start weight: 180.4 September 13: September 20: September 27: October 4: October 11: October 18: October 25: October 31 final weight: START BUILDING!
