I can do as I know to do, while I get ready for whatever we get of Hurricane Sally.
Once more find my AWARE glasses, WILLING shoes and my mental ABILITY to do.
I sauteed some cabbage to add to my bowl of split pea soup. It was very good.
Praying for all of us, and our nation.

Thanks for the start, Bee. Monday I shall PTMH and do a little more organizing. I am filling a few boxes with clothes I no longer wear and I have some books and magazines to donate as well. Not sure if the nursing home next door to us will except the books and magazines because of COVID. Going to call tomorrow to see.
Other than that no agenda.

I have to sort through my closet. I think that I may pick up a few basic tops. Sleep well.

Ann. does your town have little libraries in neighborhoods? They look like big closed birdhouses and people take and put in books. My daughter Laura has one on the side of her house and the woman's club has one in the front of the house. We also have them at county mental health and a homeless shelter. Anyway, it is a great free way to exchange books. I will PTMH as I have been doing. This morning I am going to get more handbooks to deliver to club members because I am dropping off a bottle of wine for my WW friend who bought me the honey cake. It is Baron Herzog cabernet I bought at Trader Joe's and certified Kosher. Her husband is a rabbi at the Chowchilla Men's and Woman's prisons though doing most of his work from home. Hopefully my GPS will guide me to the correct homes. It does a horrible job in gated communities. The fires have burned over 200,000 beautiful forest areas. It is very sad. In the webinar on happiness the teacher suggested writing letters of gratitude to people. I am going to write a thinking of you note to a doctor and his artist wife who live up in Prather now affected by the fires as well as to a friend in New Jersey I have known for over 50 years. We exchange Christmas letters but this is a better less busy time for me to write. I hope we all have a wonderful week.

My focus is on eating healthy, tracking points, hydrating, staying positive, focusing on the long-game, and getting some exercise in no matter what today.
Talked to granddaughters - son was out mowing the lawn, daughter-in-law was on call for work, son will be doing an international business trip and will be away from home for a week. Daughter is working and went to her office on Sunday to avoid potential contact with covid-19 carriers. They worry about us and we worry about them. I think we will have salad today with leftover hummus OR might make some mjudra (lentils, bulgur and fried onions). I was able to sleep without the AC, with the fan and windows open - loved it and slept for 8 hours easily!
SUSI: Have been to Cairo twice. First time my daughter was six months old, she was bitten by something in the hotel, the streets had water buckets with a ladle beside them for people to drink from - same water and ladle for everyone. Did see mummies before they were hidden away. Second time it was a bit better and about ten years later BUT it was still crowded, dirty and not so very nice. I was living in Amman, Jordan at that time and Jordan was definitely better than Cairo. What is crazy is how difficult it still is so many years later! I sometimes think it was easier in Beirut when we married than it is now!
Glad you were able to adapt your plans and enjoy the day. I know you will enjoy the spin class. So sorry to hear about your online friends issues...
MJ: Your day sounded so NORMAL and RELAXING...
ANN: Hooray for three walks! I am sure the nursing home could put the donated books/magazines in a room for a week or so to let them "clean" or in the sun and then put out for residents.
AUDREY: You and my sister brave bad air to walk...I admire you both! Plateaus happen but mine usually are with a bit of a wiggle as I go up a bit then down a few days then up again, repeat. It might take six weeks as it has in the past and then a solid drop with further drops. In some ways it makes me think of being in what the doldrums on the sea must be like. I would rather deadhead roses than shop, too! Love the idea of writing real letters and thank you letters are even nicer. I am not sure I would want to go to the post office to send them, though. Perhaps an email would suffice...hmmm
BEE: I love split pea soup BUT never find dry split peas here and the one time I had some they went bad with bugs and infested the cupboard before I found out they were the culprit. How do you make your split pea soup? I would never have thought to add cabbage to split pea soup.
LADONNA: Sounds like a good Sunday for you!
JUNE: I can see where recording yourself for others to listen to would require a learning curve. My daughter said watching herself made her realize what she wore when students could see her from head to toe and while moving was a lot different from what she should wear when only boobs to the top of the head showed...she is considering scarves or turtlenecks... It has taken time to become wise to the way my body handles weight and the weight loss process. Even so, knowing what is happening and being accepting and positive when the scale seems stuck is not always easy. Still, having control of tracking and what I eat is a great thing in this time when so much is out of our hands.
PAM: Do you still have furniture in your guestroom? Nice to get rid of things if you had too much, though.
BECKY: Hopefully they will continue offering church service online for the parishioners that cannot or choose not to attend services in the church.

Audrey Writing a a gratitude letter is a lovely idea for building resilience and spreading joy. Bee I have to admit, cabbage and noodles does sound good. If i make soup, I am likely to only make 1/2 the usual batch.
Becky You made me laugh. Know I am likely to picture you in all sorts of daring scenarios in WMart. Cathy Glad that you could talk to your GDs. Did they say anything about school? Regarding school, I am just keeping my head down & doing what I do. Not dwelling on the frustrating bits. I will try to train myself to video record small segments. I would not change teaching modalities now. That has been of big complaint for students.
IGreat attitude!

Sending lots of positive thought and prayers to everyone here. Will check back later if able.

Audrey, our town has the little libraries. The newspaper company here in town that used to have dispensers all over town, since folks no longer buy many paper newspapers anymore, had the dispensers painted and put around town as little libraries. I think that is a most unique idea. My great-grands take advantage of them.
I love the writing of letters of gratitude. I remember when they did the memorial for Tim Russert, and all these folks were going on about how he was a mentor and a teacher to them, always willing to share, I wondered if they had told him. I thought of 3 people who had done that for me, and I wrote them letters of thanks.
Cathy, I reckon Mom's always worry no matter how old the children are. Your mjudra sounds delicious. I love caramelized onions. I jut cook my split peas in veggie broth and water, add fresh ground pepper and garlic powder. I do sauteings on the side to add to the bowl as I eat it. Yesterday was cabbage. I keep a mix of sauteed mushrooms, spinach, shredded carrots and onions to add to soups, pilafs, whatever I am eating.
June, I only ever make a small batch of soup also. I like variety. Enjoy cruisin' down the blue lane!
As to today --- I am WILLING to be ABLE to be AWARE!
For now, the hurricane reporting folks have edged Hurricane Sally a little to the east of us, more into Mississippi --- so I may not even get any rain. LOL As usual, until it actually hits land, no one knows where it is going.

Good morning all. Slept great last night and woke up to a temperature of 59. Last night it was warmer so we were able to sit in the screen room. That's always a wonderful way to unwind and end the day. re: our library...it isn't accepting anymore books. They used to have a little place where they would sell books magazines and anything else that people would donate. Since COVID that has been closed. We used to donate books and odds and ends there all the time. Also, our clubhouse here used to accept books as a 'lending library' but that too has been closed. Hopefully the NH will accept them. If not, I'll just put them in the trunk and when we are near a Salvation Army, we will donate them at that time, along with the clothing. I thank you for all your wonderful suggestions. June I too need to get some tops. When I packed my winter clothes away, I made a list of what I had donated so that I can replace them. With all this COVID I really haven't been into any department stores. Perhaps I'll look online. Our Walmart here in town caters to the very larger sizes or all the spandex stuff. Nothing that interests me. Great goals for today. I hope your and R get that good walk in the park. Don't blame you for not changing things up in the teaching department. As you said, too confusing for the students. Becky I shall join you in being aware willing and able. Praying that Sally misses you completely. As you say, hard to know her path until she hits ground. Audrey I hope you find your friend's home. A gated community and a GPS don't play well together. I'm sure they will be appreciative of your gift. What a wonderful idea to write a letter of gratitude Great goal to PTMH. Hope you enjoy your day as well. Cathy worrying is a two way street. Praying that your family (and you and DH) remain safe. So happy you were able to sleep so long and without the AC on. Us as well. It feels so good. I have hummus every day. Just love it. Enjoy your exercising. Waving...and will CBL

Bee The little libraries are a great way for communities to "give." I saw onFB that Dolly Partonalledgely has anImaginationlibrary. It issupppsed to send a free book each month to children under 5. I did not share that post since I had no time to check out whether it was true or not.
Great idea to have vegetables ready to jump into the pot or bowl!
We like pot pots of soup to eat, share, and freeze. But my sister wants to give us stuff from her freezer. So. . . I cannot make my usual big batch. LOL I will likely regret that idea whenR decides to eat two whopping bowls of soup. And. . . then all my visions gof having soup for two days go "poof!"
Ann Am sure that you will find some a happy home for the books. Do you have a bulletin board inyour community? So nice that the weather makes relaxing on your porch so pleasant.
Will try to check back. I am grading document analyses. Wassure that they would sound better if I took a break. 😜
