Sue - I'm glad it's more serious for your DH and sorry they wouldn't keep him overnight. I feel for you with the decisions you are having to make. I took care of my father for several years before he passed away and it's physically and emotionally exhausting. When you add in having to make so many decisions it's even worse. I hope you can get some things figured out and get some help from hospice. We used them for my father and I always recommend their services to caregivers. Sorry to hear the smoke is bad again today. Please try to remember to take care of yourself too

Sue, I am so very sorry that you have to go through what you are facing right now. It does surprise me that they could not come up with some kind of reason to keep Dh in the hospital for an overnight- I know that criteria are very different these days and that they scrutinize everything but really??? As you said, why for the sake of one nights rest for you, would they not be willing to keep him. I will pray for you- knowing that this is such a difficult time for you and many decisions need to be made. Hope that Dh’s pcp is cooperative and will back you when you need his/her help. You seem like a very grounded person and i am sure will be able to come up with a way to plan the redesign of the house to properly care for Dh, keep him safe and help you stay sane. Thought I heard something about rain in the upper mid west today....hoping that that impacts you and helps clear the air.
Ruth, I think its quite funny how you have planned on wrapping that camera for DGD. Surely it will make her smile....it made me smile! Gosh you are so busy and organized....making gifts for everyone. Glad Dh is able to assist with those grommets. You are both handy!! Is the list of gifts long for the family that lives close by??
CJ- that is so frustrating that you are not pleased with how the quilt is turning out. Of course, its good that you figured it all out before you reached the point of no return and a lot of work into a quilt that you are not pleased with. Sounds like you have a good “plan b” for the blocks....you have played with fabric enough to know what looks good and what you like. Were you able to stave off a migraine??? Hope you are not getting sick! Even getting a cold is complicated now- Dd had to keep a child home from school who obviously had a cold but everything is misconstrued as covid.
Got some crocheting done this am... worked on some yard work this afternoon and took down the pool that we had put up for the kids. (Its drying now so I can store it for the winter). Cool here and supposed to go into the high 30’s tonight. Nice weather for sure. I had an female rose breasted grosbeak on the feeder today- she must be headed south for the winter. They look like huge sparrows....the males are so pretty and the females are rather plain. Oh- I did get the parts to repair the lawn mower. Ds says he knows what do to- I did drain the gas out and will leave the rest to him. Actually I could change the spark plug and air filter - both are easy to do. Hoping that this works to get the lawn mower back in service.
Be back later to see who stops in.... Hi to Phyl and Rene. Ginny

Good advice for Sue, CJ - she has to remember to find time for herself....something that is so challenging when caring for a loved one who is in need of so much help.

Sue, it seems like they could have found a reason to keep your hubby for the night. Doris had only a TIA which in itself does not necessitate a stay in the hospital but there she was for what 4 or 5 days and now to rehab. I know this is extremely stressful for you because your hubby not only suffers dementia but from things you've said it sounds as though he's pretty strong willed too.
Ginny, I think you could probably have fixed that mower but your ds wants to help so saves you time to do something else.
I misplaced two of my credit cards so I may have to report them as lost. I haven't been able to find them in the house and I haven't really been out so they do have to be here but this way I wonn't have to keep searching. Funny thing is that these are the same two that I misplaced a couple years ago, got new ones and, of course found the old ones right after that. I only ever use those two and one other.Depends on which ones have the most rebate at the time. While doing that I did some drastically needed dusting and still have LOT more to do.
Ginny, my Christmas gifts are limited to six pocket shawls and two good size lap blankets. Then I may do some had sanitizer holders because I saw a great pattern the other day. I had already made quite a few but they're very plain.

Ruth, I agree with you - it seems a bit off to me that the hospital could not find some reason to keep Sue’s Dh overnight- especially if they were able to contact her Dh’s pcp. Anyway, its all spilled milk now and I just hope for her sake that she can get help in the house- some kind of respite care. I did the same thing and misplaced several cards....Lord knows where they are - I replaced them all and had no damage done by the loss. What a pain it is to replace the cards, Six pocket shawls and 2 lap blankets is one heck of a lot of crocheting!!! Congrats on getting the dusting done. It can be a pain in the neck for sure.
Long week and I am tired. Have a good night all Gonna find something on TV to watch and crochet. G

It's a nice day here. I'm not sure what the temp got up to but dh was outside and said it felt very hot to him but the nice breeze helped. It also got rid of a lot of the smoke
I've still not remembered to have dh show me how to do the grommets. I'm making a baby yoda now and have all the pieces made so now just have to sew them together. I think today I will also bite the bullet and sew the pockets on the shawls but I've said that before. I have to consult my list to see if there's anything else I have to make before packing up this and the other birthday presents that aren't crocheted things. I'd like to get them mailed on Tues while we're out but I don't know if they'll be ready by then. Depends on whether or not I get my act together.I do know that I need to make finish the bookmarks I made for ddil by adding the crocheted "string" that hangs out of the book.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - It is nice sleeping when it's cooler, isn't it? Hope you get to rest up this weekend from your busy week. Ruth - Congratulations on finishing the baby yoda, I bet he is cute. Hope you can get your things together to get them mailed. The weather here is cool today, but sunny. It was a nice day and just my kind of temperatures. I think we're supposed to have the same weather for several days. My lawn guy came today so it's nice to have my grass cut too. The zoysia grass is so pretty in the summer, it's just so thick and green but when it gets high it's tough to walk through, so I'm glad it is shorter now. I put aside those two projects since they weren't enjoyable and life is just too short to work on something that's not fun. I'm sure I'll get back to them eventually. Instead I worked some on a table runner that I wanted to make for this month. The fabric has apples on a black background and I'm just going to make it by sewing the two fabrics and batting together leaving a small opening and then turning them inside out. Then I'll sew up the opening and stitch about a quarter inch all the way around it to look like binding. Then I'm going to try a bit of straight line machine quilting to finish it. I found some 50 wt thread that I'd gotten from MSQC (it's red) and I'm going use it to sew the "border" and the straight lines. Take care everyone!

CJ that table runner is going to be beautiful. I love the idea of red thread for the "border" and for the machine quilting. It sounds fairly easy too.

I finished the table runner. The fake "border" isn't completely straight, but I don't really care since this is just for me. I didn't mind the machine quilting either, but it sure isn't my favorite thing. I wish I did like it better since I have so many quilt tops that I'd love to get quilted. Here are a few pictures of the table runner. I used wavy lines going lengthwise and didn't do any crosswise quilting. The colors are a bit brighter than shows from the pictures on my phone.

Good evening!
Ruth, congrats on completing baby yoga. He must be adorable...who is he a gift for? Hope that you can have all these projects done by Tuesday and ready to be shipped to Indiana. You are amazing with the projects you will take on crocheting
CJ- the table runner is really pretty- I like the use of the red thread as a quilting stitch. Did you free motion quilt those squiggly lines (drop your feed dogs)? I think it looks great and so nice and fall like with the apple fabric. Glad your lawn is nice and trimmed!! You have had so much rain, I figure it needed a cutting badly.
Dd was here for a few hours and then my friend and her Dh came over for a fire outside. (Great evening for that!)
Tired and its time for me to go to bed. Have a good night all Ginny

CJ that is so pretty! It really is great for fall too. It will make a good table runner for your Thanksgiving table. Now all you have to do is make an apple pie to go with the table runner.

morning crafters, love the table runner. how long is it? ok I will bring the ice cream to go along with the apple pie.anybody want some warm Carmel sauce also?
Ruth you were right about Doris
having some extra anuities.another friend of mine said the same thing. guess they can't use can not them for some reason. this puts her over what medicaid allows.
she is home now. M j says memory is bad.
WHEN there is a good post I wonder if there is a family member posting it.
my si nerve ,walking and pain is improving.maybe after the next chiro appointment I will be able to sit and sew. will wait a few days before trying it. practice not sitting at the machine to long will be the hard part. cj go to you tube or on line and type is lori kennedy. she is great at free motion
nita And i seen her here last October.we took a class.one thing she does is shoe you how to use paper and pencil and draw what you think you want to do. that way you get a feel of it before. you start it on your machine.
one thing she had us do is bring fat quarters sandwiched so we could practice on those.scarps would be good.
lori was suppose to be here this October at our guild.like every thing else it got canceled. damn virus. phyl
