Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!

I was able to walk from our house to the nature trail. The legs handled the hills okay, but I did have to stop and catch my breath a couple of times on the steeper hills. Today is the last dose of the steroid, hopefully things remain good. DH's keys are still missing. I never did find the keys I lost two trips ago. Maybe we have a gremlin in the house. Today is trash day. We got the rest of the trash that accumulated before we arranged for trash pickup out of the garage- yay. Looks like there will be room for the golf cart after all. I finished the front of my Santa, cut out the back and started working on the back. The back will go quickly since it's a simple long stitch to cover. We had an amazing seafood boil for dinner- shrimp, mussels, and crab legs- yum!
Murphy- Glad you are sleeping well. Hope you had plenty of soup for the motel ministry.
Cindy- GL with the infusion today. Hope the cast comes off soon.
Cathy- WTG AF/OP! Our son lives about 30 miles away, just inside the Atlanta outer perimeter.

What’s Good for Me?: September 14
When we are soul-searching, be it for the smaller or larger decisions we face during the day, we can learn to ask, is this good for me?…Is this what I really want?…Is this what I need?…Does this direction feel right for me?…Or am I succumbing to the control and influence that I sometimes allow others to have over me?
It is not unhealthy selfishness to question if something is good for us. That is an old way of thinking. To ask if something is good for us is a healthy behavior, not to be ashamed of, and will probably work out in the other person’s best interests too.
We shall not wander down a selfish path of self-indulgence by asking if a thing is good for us. We shall “not stray from God’s intended plan, God’s highest good, by asking if a thing is good for us. By asking ourselves this simple question, we participate in directing our life toward the highest good and purpose; we own our power to hold ourselves in self-esteem.
Today, I will begin acting in my best interests. I will do this with the understanding that, on occasion, my choices will not please everyone around me. I will do this with the understanding that asking if a thing is good for me will ultimately help me take true responsibility for my life and my choices.

START BUILDING! BUT DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF...Brick by brick, step by step brings results!
Good morning all! I'm at work and my computer is giving me fits this morning. I keep getting kicked off the internet. Probably a dozen times in the last 50 minutes! That is a frustrating way to start the week! Motel Ministry was good. I didn't go out to the motels but as far as I know we did ok on chili. It always seems to work out! I did get a call on my way to church from my cousin Judi in Myrtle Beach. Her daughter had quit her job in Chicago 2 months ago to move with and old boyfriend to Wisconsin. They had "reconnected and it was fate because they were soulmates". Needless to say, he quickly became verbally and physically abusive and had gotten arrested after beating her up and throwing her cat against the wall. So yesterday she had "escaped" and was making the drive from Wisconsin to Myrtle Beach. I begged Judi to tell her to come through TN and at least stop for the night at my place but she was determined to drive through the night. Apparently, he is or was still in jail so I'm praying that she doesn't take him back!
Amy - I sure hope the keys turn up! Yay for finding enough room for the golf cart!
Cindy - I ordered some of the same candles! I am sorry about DS having to go through a breakup but I hope he keeps his eye on what is best for him. He has such a big heart! Good luck with the infusion today!
Cathy - I hope you are able to talk with your sister via skype. I sure hope your BIL gets some answers!
We are having a HOA board meeting tomorrow night so I've got to make sure I've got the books together. Just need to update the checkbook register. I detest having to call people who are late with their HOA monthly dues! I hope you all have a good day! Murphy

My leg ached last night and I had a hard time sleeping. I got a gymnastics mat that is thick enough I can get down on my knees for my stretches. I just don’t know what to think.
Enjoyed Miss Rylee and tomorrow I will be with the other 2 for virtual schooling. I keep asking myself, are you smarter than a fifth grader? Lol
I’ve been tracking everything. Right now I am -2 for my weeklies. My goal is to have a rollover today and end up in the positive!
Amy: With all you have been doing, who knows where those keys might show up!
Murphy: I hope the computers straightened up for you today! I’m glad your cousin left. I can’t imagine being in a situation like that.
Cathy: Murphy and I talked in a Room on Messenger, and I think you can do it on FB too!
Cindy: Hope you feel the effects of the infusion quickly!

It was a stressful day....was getting texts from a friend last night and at three AM she asked if I could come get her. I said yes without thinking and then found out she was 45 minutes away in an area I wasn't familiar with...thankful for GPS. I got to her about 3:40 AM, brought her back to my house and let her sleep on the sofa. I had my infusion appointment, go out to my car...I have an almost flat tire. I took a chance and drove to Discount Tires, yup, nail...took an hour and it is fixed. So rescheduled my appointment for 1 and woke my friend so she could come with me and then we could go get her car. As we are going over the bridge...tanker truck had smashed through the guard rail. No fatalities. Four lanes down to one. Got through that and was just a bit late. Friend slept in car while I was getting infusion. After that, it took about 20 minutes to get to her car. Luckily it hadn't been towed. Traffic was heavy going home. I haven't spoken to her since leaving her at the car. She was seriously drunk when I picked her up. I can wait for her story. At least driving through Dallas the skyline was beautiful as was the sliver of the moon.
So am tired, worried that my friend put herself in such a vulnerable position, and very thankful I'm not drinking. I am hoping for a good night sleep. The good news is I think it kick started me. Getting my cast off tomorrow. Hope I'm not deluded, lol.
Amy, sounds like you are getting an amazing cardio work out! Glad the trash is out and the golf cart moved in. Did DH make the dinner? Glad the Santa is progressing well. I remember DS playing with some car keys at 2 years old....we never found them, though they had to be in the house. Good Luck!
Murphy, glad we have such good taste in candles. Glad you told me about the sale! Hope the work computer started behaving, very frustrating. So sorry about Judi's daughter. I hope she gets some counseling and stays away from the BF. Will she press charges? Will she be able to stay with Judi? Will the HOA send certified letters to delinquent homeowners if they don't pay up this round?
GG, Hope you had a rollover today and end up in the positive! I hope using the mat makes a difference. I use a pillow to kneel on when weeding.
Cathy, I hope BIL gets some answers and gets on the road to healing. I hope your SIL remembers to care for herself. Controlling food intake is very positive.
Hi Carole, hope you are enjoying yourself to the utmost!
Hi Jan!
Oh I was down 3 lbs at the doctor's office.
Hugs to all, Cindy

MONDAY: AF/OP/walked 20 minutes/positive thoughts
One more day, we think, of the tent being up and mourners coming to see the neighbors to pay condolences. We are not going to go in person but my husband did call to pay them to the family. I am trying to come up with a meal for lunch that uses the vegetables in the house and...hmm...we will see. It might be lentil-bulgur with fried onions and a cucumber salad made with garlic, mint and yogurt since we have a LOT of cucumbers. I could do something with potatoes b ut think it is more likely to be the mjudra with cucumber salad.
AMY: Hooray for the hill trail becoming easier to climb! Happy to hear the golf cart fits into the garage with the cars. It is marvelous you are so close to your son!
MURPHY: Sometimes the internet connections are not stable...no idea what causes them there but usually here it is expected. I am so sorry to hear your niece went through that with her "soul mate" and hope she is safely with her mother soon. Glad she survived...did the cat?
GG: My sister left Facebook awhile ago saying she felt it was like a black hole that drained her spirit. So much negativity and too much politics so she just left. She has an iphone instead of an android but think she could have WhatsApp ability...need to find out as her devices are all i-type ones instead of what most have. I do envy you the time with your grandchildren! I think I will have her look more and have her ask her sons for help if she can't figure it out but not until my brother-in-law has more information about his prognosis.
CINDY: Hooray for being down on the scale. Sorry your last 24 hours were so stressful but it must feel good to know you handled it all so well. I am sorry your friend was in need but glad you were there to help her out.
