Good morning friends. Slept well and woke up to wonderful temperature of 59. Last night it was warm enough for us to sit out in the screen room. Such a wonderful and relaxing way to end the day.
I have clothing that I no longer wear in a bag and several books and magazines in a box. The bag of clothing is in the trunk for when we are in the area of a Salvation Army, and the books...I am going to call the NH that is next door to us to see if they are accepting donations. Our library used to have a little store where they sold books, magazines and all sorts of small items...but since COVID, that has been closed. They only have curbside to pick up books that you request online. If the NH won't accept them, I'll add that box to the trunk and donate both at the same time.
Other than that...no real plans for the day. I did some housework and a boatload of laundry yesterday, so that frees me up.
After coffee....will sit and plan/track my day. If the weather is still nice, I'll get some walking in.
Wishing all a great Monday...Can't believe we are already 2 weeks in September! Time flies. Will CBL

Hi friends, Ann, I hope you have a nice Monday and it must feel good to have chores out of the way. I did sheets and some laundry yesterday, but I still have more laundry today. I also mopped the kitchen floor, but already D&D have tracked in their little leaves and bits of debris. LOL I swear they are like dust mops with their feathery fur. :-) Ann, what is an NH next door? I always think New Hampshire!
DH came home early yesterday and we had burgers, salads and roasted Brussels sprouts for dinner. We both decided we are sick of Brussels spouts for now. THese were a little bitter despite roasting in garlic and topping with a bit of Parmesan cheese. I gave DH a big slice of lemon cake leftover from the birthday party and he loved it. It was one of the best cakes I've had! He is fasting today in prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow. Poor guy. He has them annually and has since he was 18 due to colitis.
I slept pretty well but I still feel tired today. I am also back to re-reading Sue Grafton's mysteries and working my way through the alphabet again! It's been so many years since I read them. I started them in the 80s or 90s when they first came out. My mom and I were hooked.
Breakfast today was an egg white sandwich with turkey sausage, yogurt and half a banana. Lunch will be a leftover hamburger - minus the bun- and a salad. I might eat an early dinner before DH gets home so that I don't torture him eating when he cannot. Hunger is the worst part of a colonoscopy for both of us!
BBL
Have a great day all!

LOL Judy...sorry. I also refer to New Hampshire with NH...this time, though, I was talking about our nursing home that is next door to us I did call the NH and the gal that I spoke with couldn't make that decision. She took down my name and phone # and told me she would pass the information over to an administrator and she would get back to me. She sounded both pleasant and professional, so I'm sure I'll hear from them. Not a big deal. We DO have a bulletin board where we pick up the mail and I posted it there. Unfortunately someone removed it. Not sure what part of FREE BOOKS was offensive, but not going there. I may not 'come back' LOL.....All I can say is people are odd. Judy I feel for your poor DH...I agree...the prep and the fasting is the worse part of the colonoscopy. When I first had mine back when I was 40, the gastro dude didn't believe in putting you to sleep so I had it with nothing! I remember being on that table for over 3 hours. It was barbaric to say the least. After that I went to a more 'normal thinking' doctor. I did complain to my PCP at the time and he assured me that it would not happen again. I go every 5 years now as my body 'grows polyps'. My mom passed from colon cancer so they keep a watch on it. Yes, I would recommend that you eat an early dinner before he comes home. By the way, your meals sound good. I am all somewhat planned and tracked. Breakfast was FF Greek yogurt with frozen mixed berries coffee and an English muffin with PB. I was very hungry for some reason Lunch will be my soup and I have a cucumber and tomato that I'll have on the side with evoo and spices thrown in....supper will either be the lo chicken with rice and veggie or lo ham with the same sides. Either way I have the points to cover it. Snack will be hummus and a pita bread or carrot sticks or both. I enjoyed those books also back in the day. I remember my sister Judy and I reading them at the same time Brings back fond memories. I just started the #20 book in the Woman's Series by James Patterson...forget the title...so far, so good. Will CBL................waving to Pam and Sue.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! We also woke to temps in thelow 50's. It was wonderful! Yesterday got up in the high 70's and we sat outdoors quite a bit. In fact, during the night DH pulled up the quilt over us as the air coming in the window was quite cool, and I love that feeling of being "all snuggled in".
Ann ~ GFY for getting your stuff ready to donate. I have a pile going in my den, but during the worst of the pandemic no one was accepting them, so here they lay! I am with Judy in wondering what NH stands for?!? Our Alano Club has a book nook, and in the past I have taken my books there and put them on the shelf. Of course now I very seldom read a paper book.
Pam ~ It was good to hear from you and catch up with your goings on. Yay for the help in the garden! Hope your DH's treatment goes well today.
Judy ~ I am with you in that though I slept well, I feel very tired today. I think all the busyness and excitement from Friday and Saturday finally caught up with me. That's usually how it happens for me. I had to LOL about D&D tracking up your floor. Glad your DH got home to eat with you.
Yesterday I made mango salad and a pot of cabbage soup in the IP. We had the soup for supper on the patio by the fire. DH figured out what was wrong with the first batch of wood and why our fire Friday night was very subpar and corrected it. We had a beautiful fire yesterday late afternoon. Then we came indoors to watch a little TV and unwind. A perfect day!
Today I plan to IP a batch of pork chops and have two for supper then repackage them for leftovers. I also have a bag of baby potatoes that I will put in the IP with them for our supper. I have had my yogurt 'n berries w/F1 for breakfast and have my leftover salad for my lunch. Otherwise I don't think I will do much today. Even though I slept in this morning, I am still heavy-headed & sleepy. I'll catch up pretty soon but will take it easy in the meantime.
BBL. Make a great day!

Sue I'm sure that you feeling tired has to do with all that you accomplished a day or two ago. Rest up Glad that DH figured out the fire pit problem with the wood. Your meals sound delish. I love pork in any form or shape. The IP really does a good job. We went for a walk and it was quite breezy and nice. Just as we were coming in the sun came out. Win win in my books. Still waiting to hear from the NH nursing home

Hey again all,
I'll have to go back to last night's and read Pam's note. I missed it so thank you for mentioning it, Sue.
Ann, I hope the NH will take the books. Like you, I can't imagine anyone removing a sign for free books ! Must be an illiterate! We have all these little "small libraries" scattered through our town that are little glass booths and shelves for people to drop off and pick up books. I love that idea. I haven't used it yet but see them when I am walking. Guess it is a trend that has taken off around the country.
Sue, the campfires sound great. I am sure they remind you of DH's VBF - but in a good way. I think of his doggies a lot, too. You must be recovering from your whirlwind of activity over the weekend and your big cleaning spree, too. My exhaustion is mostly mental, I think. I am physically tired from all the stress.
Remember I told you I sold our old car on Craig's List and helped the woman with her insurance and bank errands? Well, now she is texting me about the car and an issue she is having. I responded once as DH and I were very transparent about any issues we knew about and I strongly advised her the first time she came to look at the car to have her mechanically inclined friend she mentioned come over and drive and check out the car. She was in a huge hurry to hand over the cash and get the car and declined all my urging. She hardly wanted to drive it. I told her it was as is and she signed her own form saying so. It's been two weeks and now she is calling--good grief. DH told me to ignore any further messages. She has the title and it is her car now. And, we knocked $1100 off the price. I know she is fairly poor and on SSI,and I feel badly, but sheesh...she bought a 2004 car with 180,000 miles on it. I don't want to start a dialogue with her and have her show up over here.
I have a zoom call with my boss in about an hour so I had better spiff up a bit. lol
I finally received my new fall shoes and I love them - suede type oxfords with great arch support. Birkenstocks so ugly but what my feet need. After trying about 5 pairs and returning all, Cinderella finally found keepers, but I will not be wearing these to any ball!! LOL I am all about COMFORT.
My luncheon menu changed. After Ann mentioned hummus and pita bread, I jumped on that wagon and had Joseph's Pita bread with JOseph's hummus. My very favorite store brand. We have a little Egyptian market nearby and he makes wonderful hummus but Joseph's is my favorite store brand.

Hi All ~
We have a very cool day today and I'm actually thinking of changing into a sweatshirt. It is currently only 61 dg outside!! The sun comes out off and on, but it's still chilly. Not complaining .... much better than the HHH that we had to live through. But in my capris and 3/4 sleeve top I am cold.
DH came home and delivered water softener salt and poured it in. It just started flashing the reminder light so he is quick on this one. I've been doing laundry and our clothes are put away, and DH's work clothes are in the dryer.
I really enjoyed my salad for lunch! There was a lot of chicken in it and the salad had stayed nicely crisp. I made DH a smoked turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich and we ate together. I am feeling a bit more energetic, but not a whole lot. I am undecided if I'll make the pork chops for supper or instead do leftover grilled hot dogs in baked beans? It will depend on how I feel when it is time. DH offered to bring home some cole slaw from his last stop of the day which will go nicely with the hot dogs supper.
I think I will try to get some reading done today since I haven't picked up a book in days.

So sorry about the lady and the car. Yes I do remember your telling us all about it and that you locked the keys inside the car. Sheesh...you surely do NOT need any drama from her or anyone at this point. I hope it all works out for you. LOL to Cinderella finally finding a pair of shoes I love that brand...ugly or not...at times ya gotta just be all about the comfort Sue happy you enjoyed your salad for lunch. I love a salad with lots of meat in it Like you I started out with a short sleeve top and grabbed a sweat shirt 'just in case' and was happy that I did. When the sun is out it's warm, but as soon as it goes behind the clouds...it's a different story I'm most comfy with a sweater so it didn't bother me. Well, I got a call from the Nursing Home. They wanted to set up a pick up date for sometime during the week. I told her that our housing complex is right next door and she was thrilled that we were willing to drop it off. She told me to just put it in a box and leave it on the door step under the awning. I knew just where she meant...and she also asked that I leave my phone number and name inside. She asked if we wanted a receipt for tax purposes to which I replied not necessary. She was thrilled with that as well. She did ask permission to gift the books and magazines out to someone else should they not find what is in there appropriate. I told her I had no problem with that either. About and hour later, I received a phone call thanking me for the donation and she said that they will keep everything. I am just very happy that they took it all. Now I know where to go in that situation. We also went to our pharmacy and got our flu shot. I called our PCP as our appointment is coming up in October, but they don't have the vaccine yet. Happy that's also behind us. All in all it was a productive day . Time to unwind and relax

Good evening!
Another busy day for us! Debbie and I walked at 7:00 and there was a nice breeze, so not as bad as it could have been. Afterwards, I got the laundry started and then had a shower and a brunch of light English whole grain muffin topped with a slice of cheese and a little deli-thin ham. It was delicious with a boiled egg on the side. I also packed some yogurt, muesli and blueberries for a snack later on.
I called to see if DH's special ointment for his foot was ready at the pharmacy and they tried to tell me it would be ready tomorrow. I told them that was unacceptable, because we had been waiting since Friday. She finally said the delivery truck was there and they would get it ready. I dropped DH at hyperbaric and went to the pharmacy. After waiting in line, I was told it still wasn't ready. I was nice, but firm and was told to come back at 2:00 and they would have it ready. In between, I stopped by the big Catholic church but the doors were locked. I parked in a shady spot and said a rosary and then I returned to the pharmacy and sat in the parking lot eating my snack. When I went back in at 2:00, the prescription was finally ready. DH finished hyperbaric a few minutes earlier than usual, so we were very early for his appt. with the surgeon in BTR. We were pleasantly surprised that they called him back right away. She is willing to wait and see what the wound care doc can accomplish and told us to come back in two weeks.
We called in an order at our fav local place, Hottails, and zipped through the drive-thru on our way back. I got my favorite grilled shrimp & veggies, light on the butter and could only manage half, so the rest is saved for another meal. I walked a little in the driveway after dinner, since we ate so early, then watered plants and sprayed some weeds. I have been working on laundry off and on and just threw the last load into the washer. It is someone challenging trying to get household chores done in between driving DH to appts.
Tomorrow, DH has HH nurse, PT therapist and then hyperbarics. DD2 is coming to take him to hyperbarics, so that I can attend a zoom hospice volunteer meeting. I will enjoy having a few hours to myself afterwards, even if they are spent cleaning floors. I managed to give myself a pedi today, except for the polish, so maybe I will do that tomorrow.
Ann - I knew immediately what you meant by NH as we use that abbreviation in hospice. It's nice to know they wanted your reading materials. Our library will take any reading materials and we donated bunches when we cleaned out my parents' house. I was horrified at the story of your first colonoscopy! Barbaric indeed! It does sound like the endoscopy DH endured back in the day. Things are so different now, thank goodness!
Sue - I had to laugh at you having to soften the water. Our water is so soft that we have to warn out of state visitors to use very little soap and shampoo or they will never rinse it off. And when you do rinse, you don't get that "squeaky" clean feeling. It's more of a "slimy" clean feeling, according to some of my cousins. It feels natural to me, because that's what I have always known.
Judy - I agree with your DH that you should not keep responding to the woman who bought the car. One reminder that it was sold "as is" and she had every opportunity to let a mechanic look at it and declined should be enough. I'm glad you put it in writing. You have had enough stress lately and don't need this, especially since whatever is going on with the car is not your fault. Let the buyer beware! Had to laugh at Cinderella finding her shoe. I am all about comfort when it comes to shoes.
Time to read a bit before bed. Sweet dreams all!
P.S. I almost forgot, it looks like Sally has moved enough east that our camp and our friends on the coast should be on the west side (the "good side") of the storm. That should minimize damages. I hope the storm hurries inland before it grows to a Cat 3.
