Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Kind of weird looking out the balcony door. Looks like rain, but no rain in the forecast. High in the 70's and hazy. Tomorrow the chillier temps come in for a few days.
Robin, I was watching the update on Sally and it does not sound good, with it slowing way down. And no, nothing to do with climate change...I think in years past, they start over with names, they can use Karen, because sometimes I feel I am full of hot air. Did you get your voting done? We are waiting for our ballots to come in the mail. I have us signed up to get mail in ballots just for this year. Otherwise I like going to the fire station and do it the proper way. Our voting station is just a couple blocks away.
Marsha, I too do not look good in a hat, which always saddens me when I see the cute/pretty hats. I remember when my head was bald from chemo, and wear a hat, or bandana, and gave up and took them off, because of the way I am built, it looks weird. I think it was someone else asking about orthodox, etc, maybe Anngie? I did mention I was surprised your DS working on Sunday. That is too bad about the leaking and cancelling of the religious party. Our flower plants on the balcony are looking worn out too. I think they just want to be done with this year too, lol!! I am proud of the Packers, but it still seems weird, them playing. I feel we are still back in July. Thanksgiving is REALLY going to throw me for a loop!
Pinky, oh my, you can have that hot weather!!! Don't send it east! About Sally, that panhandle of FL is really getting slammed! Any time someone dies it still hurts immensely, even if the patient has been ill for a long while. Our dear elderly friend is still grieving the loss of her DH, who dies April 1st.
Gareth, thanks for the link for the recipe!!!! I think I could make that for when we have a small get together. The only leftovers I can not stand is fish. I do not mind reading the large text, go for it!! What is an ARNP? Last year I had to go through some PCP's to find a good one, that I can rely on and feel comfortable with. Funny thing is, the PCP DH has to see tomorrow is the one I got rid of. At least it is just a check on all that is going on with him. His PCP was booked up for the next 2 weeks so that is why he is seeing the doctor I dumped. So for just one time, he should be fine.
Anngie, I will, either on here, or the messenger here or FB messenger. I wish I could go public, it would be so much easier, but I have to respect DH. I am so sorry for your loss of your patient. At over 100, was that patient able to do for himself, or just lying in bed? If I end up bed bound, living like that, when I am old, I just want to die. That is no way to live. Good luck with the glasses!!
Carol, it sounds like your Bible study group was set up, with the chairs, correctly. But everyone should have had their masks on....why did those women take them off? I would have asked them, very nicely, to put the masks on. I got my flu shot too, Monday at Walgreen's. I hadn't thought of it, but when it dawned on me that the store (pharmacy) was very quiet, I asked for the test, and it only took a few minutes. I mentioned to the pharmacy guy, that was getting his syringe ready, that maybe next year at this time I will be sitting here getting my flu shot, and my covid vaccine. He was saying that maybe we will have a vaccine that will be good for 2 years. Either way, 2 years, or 1 year, doesn't matter to me, as we have to go every year for the flu shot.
I was so so happy to have DH home finally yesterday. It sure makes a difference to have another person in the house/apartment at night, when it is bedtime. Just a very safe feeling.
He will be seeing his buddy today, the one from last week, as he has the rolling boards, you can use to put furniture on to move the piece of furniture. We want to move DH roll top desk out from his bedroom to a corner in the living room. It should go real good out here, and DH wants the room in his bedroom to put our glider chair in his room so he can sit and watch TV, if he does not feel like laying in bed. I can't wait to have a desk out here. We measured yesterday, to see if the desk will fit where we want it and yay, it does fit nicely.
I have to get ready soon, to run to the clinic for a blood draw on a recheck of my lipase. Dh is running to Fleet Farm for a few little things he needs to put in his hunting tent. We are looking at tomorrow or Friday to go out and put his tent up. He is very excited to get out hunting. We watch all the deer around here, and yesterday as we were coming home from the hospital, we saw a dead fawn on the road, how sad.
I forgot, yesterday to track my calories. I did track in my WW app, but not the sparkpeople app, for the calories. So I need to get caught up with that, maybe when I come back from the blood draw.
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen----Cooler here today already---a high of 64 degrees. Your DH must be doing great if he is already thinking about going out and doing things. Good Deal!!! What a difference a day can make.
I have a busy day today----off to therapy, then the guys are cutting earlage today so I need to get a quick dinner to them when I get back. Hope to do so lawn mowing when that is over.
Hi to all!!!

Not much going on here. As usual. It's going to get cold tomorrow night probably not frost but low 40's so I think after work I'll pick a bunch of orange tomatoes just in case. My basil took almost 24 hours to dry using my dehydrator. I was surprised it took so long - what I read said 12 or 15 hours. My dehydrator is old though so maybe it's not so efficient.
We got our flu shots last week. DH was picking up a prescription at the pharmacy that's at the grocery store and I was picking up a few things in the store, he texted me and said come to the pharmacy let's get the shot. So that's done. DD got hers at school before the lockdown.
Karen - I like leftover salmon tossed on a green salad. DH must have had quite the recovery if he is running out to the store and still going hunting.
Carol - your bible study sounds like it was as safe as it could be, except if they had kept their masks on. but if everyone was socially distant I think it was probably fine.

Another beautiful day before it turns a little cooler. It'll still be nice. I just like 70's and 80's more than the 60's. I've walked and will walk again with DH when he gets home.
It was better at the hair salon yesterday since it wasn't very busy which made for better social distancing. Only one customer wasn’t wearing a mask and she was at the other end of the salon from me. Walking up to the desk to leave the owner had her mask pulled down but she quick pulled it back up when she saw me. I'm sure she heard I wasn't happy last time I was there.
Karen, what a turnaround with your DH. Glad he's home and doing better and even thinking of hunting. ARNP is an advanced registered nurse practitioner.
Anngie. sorry to hear about your hospice patient. Sad you weren’t able to spend more time with him.

Yes, I don't understand why people don't keep their masks on. We were a safe distance apart so I guess it's fine. I think there are some people who think the whole distancing and mask thing is over-reaction, but they will still do it. I read that attending church really raises your chances of exposure. I would have no problem getting a Covid shot every year like the flu shot. Gareth, glad your hair appointment went well.
Karen, good your DH is home, finally.
It is 81 right now. It's supposed to stay like this for at least the next 10 days.
I liked The Glass Hotel very much. Like in Station 11, Mandel jumps around in time so you have to pay attention to the dates at the beginning of the chapters. Also, she connects the characters to each other.

Just a quick pop in to say hello because it has been a long day and I am exhausted.
Marsha, the mask I bought has something so you can adjust the part that goes behind your ear. I have a smaller face too, and it works well for me. My DH has a big face, so the masks that the cleaners made us are good for him but really too big for me, but this one I bought adjusts. I still wear the disposable ones.

Karen, I did have to make one more comment. I don't know if you were just being sarcastic about climate change not having anything to do with the hurricanes, however that is a theory that many experts believe in. My son had even explained how climate change and global warming could cause more snow, as the oceans heat up, causing more moist air that will eventually turn into snow.
