oh and i was texting with a friend yesterday who said she has always worn a mask when she's on flights. she has asthma so she has always done it to protect her lungs from grossness and now i'm totally doing it. no more mask-free for me on an airplane. i almost always got a cold after being on a flight. now i know why. i knew why before but now i know why complete with visuals!

It's amazing to me that wearing a mask now feels more right then not wearing it.
I think I'd feel weird and vulnerable of I walked in a store without one.

jae, me too. in fact today i had to go to the bank (rare as i do everything on the app but needed to today), and as i was walking from my car to the front door, i felt a weird nakedness and realized i forgot my mask in the car. not even one person outdoors in this shopping center was sans mask. it really does feel more protective wearing one than not. it's always so stupid to me to see people freaking out about having to wear one and acting like it would make them get sick if they had to wear one. i guess doctors and nurses have been wearing them just for fashion all these years. not because they actually do anything.

I was picking up a grocery order yesterday and watching people coming out of the store. All but 1 had masks on, or hanging around their necks after the left the store. One woman didn't but I guess she could have taken it off right inside the entry way.
I'm glad to see it.

Have a friend who still thinks it a farce and everyone is overreacting. She does wear a mask when she goes to stores. She's going to a family event today and one of the people there is very concerned about COVID, someone else told my friend it would be best to keep her opinions to herself so as not to upset the other person. Have no idea if they are going to be wearing masks. My friend is also one of those that feels she can't breathe when she wears a mask.

No. Says she got sick once when she was about 17 with what might have been the flu and hasn't been sick since. She says she doesn't get sick which may be why she isn't as worried as I am about COVID. The doctor told her to get a flu shot last year and she checked twice at her pharmacy and they didn't have the over-65 one so she didn't get one. She also has blood pressure of 140 and was put on medicine. She does take the medicine but complains 140 isn't high for her because she's always been at 140 so she considers it normal for her. I guess some people just don't get it about COVID. They think it is a fuss over nothing and people should go ahead and get sick. In the beginning when I mentioned about people dying she said they are just old people who were going to die anyway. How do you even answer logic like that? I want to keep the friendship so I usually just listen and move one. I think no matter what I said she would come up with a rationalization.

Hope she doesn’t die a painful death from it someday. I’m guessing that means she’ll not get the vaccine either so she’ll always be at risk for it.

just old people who were going to die Um, if she's over 65 she's one of the old people.

lani, I pointed it out and it didn't phase her. She has told me since she hasn't known any one that died or got it she thinks it isn't a big deal. I pointed out we both knew a woman in her 80's who had died, didn't phase her.

her attitude about a very serious illness and pandemic would make it very hard for me to want to continue to be her friend.

finreporter, That is just the way she is. I use to try to talk to her about things I saw differently but I realized it didn't do any good. I like her as a friend and want to keep the friendship.

you are a very sweet and kind person, just like my mom. she stays friends with the across the street neighbor even though said friend has said awful racist things against the obamas when he was in office. but my mom is loyal so between you and her you are friends they should cherish forever. i on the other hand, will ghost people if i have heard one too many ridiculous things.
