Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Martha - sorry to hear that the air quality was bad enough to send you home. I’m sure you made good use of your time. We’ve had some beautiful sunsets because of the haze, but I’d rather you had clean air.
I listen to different meditations depending on what’s going on. I just look through the podcasts. For sleep, I enjoy Sleep Cove. I also enjoy the Meditation Podcast by Jesse and Jeanne Stern. There are a lot of episodes to choose from, this year I did focus on the Coronavirus ones.
Ruth - I’m sure you enjoyed your massage and that you got a bit more time. Here’s hoping you get rid of both the jogger and swing set before winter sets in.
Dottie - I’ve got another bag to take to the charity bin. Our churches don’t have rummage sales, I wish they did.
Went for blood work this morning. Since I didn’t have an appointment I thought I’d have a long wait, but there was only one person ahead of me. Great timing, by the time I left there were 6 people in the waiting room.
Went to WW workshop yesterday, told my leader I was changing to digital until my health issues are resolved. She said she’ll miss me and that I always brought great ideas to the meeting. Was nice to hear. I haven’t been eating well, had a loss of -4.0, due to anxiety of course. I bought a couple of premade salads from the grocery store for today and tomorrow. Tomorrow I plan on making beef stew, haven’t had that in a while and it sounds good.
Work went well yesterday. I don’t think I told you about my money counting experience on Monday. A customer came in with a briefcase full of money, mostly 20s and some 50s and 100s. They counted it in the finance office, but it has to be counted again. GM brought the money counter (sometimes works ok) to the back office and sat with me while I counted $50,000 in cash - yep you read that right. Unbelievable that someone would carry that much money. It was for a business truck, but still - doesn’t he believe in banks? That was the highest single cash deposit we’ve counted. Wow, just wow. It was put directly in the safe after it was counted, but I would worry that someone knew the dealership was getting all that cash - I was concerned about the safety of the gal that takes the money to the bank. She had an escort, but still.
Just puttering around today. I’ll get a grocery list together, maybe I’ll head there after work so I can cook tomorrow.
Enjoy your day

Joyce, I know the weight loss sounds good but you need to eat healthy. Getting the salads is a good start, especially if you can add some protein to them. Beef stew sounds good, it is cooling down here and that is when I think of that kind of food. Wow $50,000 cash. You said it was a business truck so maybe the guy did a lot of his jobs for cash (under the table) and therefore saved the money for his truck.
Ruth, I know you enjoyed your massage, you always do. Hope the 2 items you were trying to sell will sell quickly. Is the swing set set in concrete? When we had one for the boys we quickly discovered that it was necessary to set it in concrete rather than just put it in the ground. Is today the day your washer comes?
Martha, sorry to hear how bad the air quality is. At least you have some plans for your unexpected time off. Stay safe and healthy. Bill’s DsisIL is a twin. Her twin brother died of cancer last year. They thought he was cured but the cancer came back very aggressively and he died in about 6 weeks. He was a lawyer, taught several classes at a university and was on several of the national law committees. He didn’t have a will. His wife told Bill’s DsisIL that she had a real mess to take care of. The wife worked but obviously the husband was the big bread winner. The wife also wasn’t aware of their investments and some other important things. At least the guy kept good records, sometimes the spouse just doesn’t want to bother with learning/understanding the financial end of things.
It is a cool and cloudy morning. The sun is supposed to show up this afternoon. I have spent some time for the last several days clearing up my computer desk. I filed all the paperwork that we keep. It was mostly EOB’s (explanation of benefits) from doctor visits, my PT and Bills procedures. At least I can find things now. I still haven’t put my summer clothes away, just hate to see the cold weather come, but that will be a project for next week.

Good morning. Good thing I was up and ready, because they came a half hour early to deliver the new washing machine. They started it for a quick clean of the drum. They say they coat it with something for transport. I now have my first load in it! With the door closed you can hardly hear it. No more 747 taking off in the laundry room and vibrating the kitchen floor! A nice change of pace. And this machine is 2” shorter and it’s narrower than the other machine. I can reach the bottom of this one w/o standing on my tiptoes or a stool! I let laundry pile up over the weekend, so the hamper is full. Will give it a good workout today.
Joy, did you see the trade between the Sabers and the Wild? Eric Staal is a great guy!! He’s a little older and slowing a bit, but a great leader and a good player!! Don’t know anything about the Saber we are getting!!
-4 is great; but not if it’s because you aren’t eating. Good idea to get some easy things to make put away. Could your DSIL stay with you after your procedure? Wish we were all closer and we could help you out.
Joy, $50,000 cash? Banks often look at that kind of cash with lots of scrutiny. First thing I think of is drug money!!! Or money laundering by crooks! Interesting to see if anything comes of it.
Martha, that is so scary that they sent you home due to air quality. Our Portland friend said she’s in Mosier, with the AC going and it’s still awful there. She said there are special smoke masks to wear under your covid masks.
Dottie, I don’t know enough about our investments and I know Stan doesn’t know enough about our bill paying procedures, so some things to work on. He has great records and I do know how to access his passwords and his accounts. He’s got the investments with 2 companies (mine from work is still the oddball account). Bill pay is 2 accounts (2 banks) and I should show him how / when to take care of stuff. And I do need to talk to all the kids about wills, POA’s, health directives, etc.
The gal came and bought the stroller immediately. Stan said she wasn’t here more than 5 min. And the man is coming to get the swing set on Monday morning sometime. He had older boys by his 1 picture, but he apparently also has 1 year old twins and wants it for them. Needs to update his website!!! Stan is thrilled the set will be gone before the snow flies and he can sow some grass seed where it’s been for the past 9 or so years.
I need to get moving. Will check in later!!
ALMOST FORGOT: DS Carol has scans today to see where her cancer is at and to check on her back and all. Prayers, good thoughts, crossed fingers and toes appreciated! Think she may find out Tuesday at chemo. Thank you all!!!

DH turned off computer before I could tell him to leave it up for meditation. It actually was a good thing tho as I baked 5 dozen choc.chip cookies before leaving for work. My unexpected time off was put to good use. I made granola (in crockpot) mixed up cookie dough, started laundry, changed into pj after DH came home and did lunch prep for today. Dinner last night was my favorite - mac & cheese. Leftovers were eaten for bfast.
I would have been scared stiff to have carried 50k, in cash, around.
Joy - Could you call into your usual WW meeting? That way you'd still get support from usual group. Glad you were able to get in/out quickly at the lab. Beef stew sounds good. Hmm, you are giving me ideas.
Dottie - Shaking head at the attorney that didn't have a will/trust. I bet his widow will spread the word to make sure no one else has to go thru what she did.
Ruth - The n95 masks are good. DH, works outside, has to wear special fire mask when at work. OSHA/DEQ said so. Glad you were able to get rid of stroller & swingset. Prayers for Carol.
(((hugs)))
