Do you have problems with binge eating, or just overeating in general?

I never have done binge eating but I certainly overeat on occasion. Before I lost my weight I would at times just keep on eating. There was one type of snack bar that I would finish the whole box in one afternoon.

I can remember in college walking to the mall, buying a pound of See's Candy and eating it all that night. Don't remember if it made me sick or not but have had that happen with pie, cake, cookies, cookie dough, etc.... in the past.
I have not had that problem this time around... Not sure what is different but in the past would mix together butter and peanut butter and brown sugar and eat it from the bowl but this time...doesn't even sound good to me. I am glad it is not a problem, knock on wood!

OMG. I used to drive to the mall on my lunch hour and have See's candy with a little carton of milk every single day. This was in my late teens, early 20s. Not a pound, but a fair sized bag's worth. I never really binged, but would over eat for sure. I have moved past that behavior now, thanks in part to GI issues that signal trouble ahead when my diet goes off the rails.

I definitely have problems with over eating at times especially food that has sugar in it. I just get days if I see something in the refrigerator or pantry that's got sugar in it I'll eat it and sometimes I hunt the refrigerator or pantry to find that kind of treat. I'm gradually getting rid of all the sugar and junk, replacing it with healthy food so this doesn't happen. If I want a treat I have to eat it outside the house and not bring it in. This is one of the reasons I'm ten pounds over goal, overeating!

It's been a while since I've over eaten. It usually happened if I gave in to late night snacking in combination with wine. Not a good mix so I've stopped having wine unless I'm out with friends or having company. It took me a very long time to accept that that's what needed to happen though.

cathygeha, lani, Yes, See's candy. In my first Valentine's Day in my first marriage my husband bought me a box of See's candy and I stated that I would eat one piece a day. Well that didn't happen and my husband called me out on it. I deserved it I never should had said I was only going to eat one piece a day. I too can get started by something that has sugar. They say the food corporations design food that will get your body/brain to crave more to keep you eating their product.

my first Valentine's Day in my first marriage my husband bought me a box of See's Hah. Mr. Lani (we weren't married yet) brought me a box of See's nuts and chews. I hate nuts and chews. I made him take it back for soft centers. He always said he should have run fast and far away at that point!

Your topic really called my name today. I am on Mac's page. There is a saying in a program I attended years ago "one is too many a thousand is never enough". I actually have a written list of foods that fit right into that statement for me. I don't always follow it though.
I laughed out loud when I read Mr Lani's comment to you Lani
Interesting Judy you said "I should have been called out" - any kind of shaming always had the very opposite effect on me. I have to be very gentle with myself on this road to wellness
Thanks for this thread I read it but don't often post. Marie

Not only do we share tips, tricks and thoughts here but we also share a love of See's Candy...delicious See's candy. One time my sister sent me a pound of it through the mail. It came into the Beirut post office and my grumbling husband had to go down, stand in lines, go from office to office, and pay tax to get the box out of customs. No doubt old by then He brought it home and...there was a tiny cockroach inside the box. I would normally be squeamish BUT...SEE'S CANDY in LEBANON...so...brushed the bug off, blew on it a bit and had a few. Almost cring now thinking about it

I joined the Sees candy bandwagon about 18 years ago. A friend who visits her nephew in CA annually, brought me my first box. My heavens!!!! I fell in deep!!! I tried hiding them, sharing them, even freezing them, which made them even more enjoyable! Now they have a shop in NYC. Uh ohhhhhh. ....

Cathygeha, Funny story about the bug in the candy and still eating it.
I never had See's Candy but heard plenty about it. Can't bring that in my house.
My son used to buy the most delicious popcorn with nuts, chocolate, all the forbidden, at the airport in Chicago and I'd gobble that down, of course it was so good. He doesn't bring it home anymore as I can't have that in my house either, just to darn good.πΏπΏπΏ
