This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. **************************************** Happy Birthday to the Air Force.
It wasn’t until September 18, 1947 that the Air Force became a separate branch of the Armed Services, but had its beginning as the Union Balloon Corps in 1862.

Avatar was a picture taken at the Yellow Springs Street Fair a few years ago. We never could figure out what was on the llama’s head.

Chele, thanks for the start. And now we have the Space Force. The llama looks like it's wearing a Russian cossak hat, but one wonders why. Great picture!
Karen, Happy (late) Anniversary to you and Dale! I have a grocery order in progress, so will try and return later.
Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Thanks for the start, Chele. What do you think of the new ophthmologist? What does he think about your eye? Cute llama! Every time I see one, it reminds me of a Monty Python sketch.
Becky, our TJ's isn't close to home but not far from Osteo, so that makes it doable. How are the body parts doing today? Poor Scooter. Yes, dogs can be expensive, but they are worth eery penny. I hope the Apoquel will work well (and quickly) for her so she won't have to be on it for very long. Do you think you'll get any rain from the system in the Gulf? Bars are definitely petrie dishes. Your nursing home plans sound like ours. I hope they can make it work. Will you go to Taylor for your anniversary?
I guess you saw, Kathy, one of the Atlantic systems now has the last name on the list of storms. I wonder if Wilfred will cause problems since it's supposed to be downgraded to a depression by next week but is getting toward warmer waters and could intensify. I thought today might be a grocery day. Publix has their Greenwise 24 oz organic FF plain yogurt 3/$10 this week, so I'll be eating it for a while. Our Sevierville Publix should be opening soon. It's next door to the Kroger. I wonder if it will affect their business.
Liz, good luck to Zoe (and you and Gary) tomorrow. I hope the vet is able to give Zoe a quick fix for her issues.
How's your day going, Linda? Has your air cleared? Are you enjoying your clean house?
Denise, are you still enjoying cooler weather? Are you off this weekend? Any plans? How is your garden doing? I think I may pull out the rest of my summer plants this weekend and need to work in the raised beds to get the weeds under control and get the soil happier. I ordered some wine cap mushrooms that I hope will be here next week and I also want to get some lettuces going for fall and winter.
My legs are kind of sore from yesterday so I'm taking it a bit easy today. I did a load of laundry first thing but am mostly working on MG stuff in advance of 2 meetings on Monday evening. Left over pizza for dinner, so that will be easy. The tech came a little while ago and fixed our security camera. Glad to have that taken care of.

Eyes were dilated again.Everything a blur. This is second time for Opthamologist #2. His opinion is nodes are improving. Give them more time to heal. No need for biopsy at this time. Back to him in 2 months to check nodes. Back to Opthamologist #1 in one month to check eye pressure. Can use artificial tears with no preservatives to lubricate eye.

Hope all the sick or itching doggies are doing better today. Something this month and spring often sets Micki to dragging his ab on carpet to scratch it..and I use Apoquel and a soothing shampoo.
vet says the dextrose and potato starch added to the Costco chicken shouldn't make that much difference. Some dogs are just sensitive on insulin doses.he was at 5 and too low. Dropped to 4 And too high. So we are at 4.5.
Ever feel stomach sick from lack of sleep? even oatmeal is nauseating and all I want to do is lean back in the chair. Yesterday I had to be up early after a bad night and last night it went to 1:30,up at 5:30 for Micki's shot, and by the time I was falling asleep, our two week yard guys arrived at 6 with weed wackers, leaf blowers, lawn mower....finally gone and then the porta potty company came to empty and to pick up the one by our neighbor's house from work all week, followed by more lawn guys next door and across the street.followed by an endlessly circling helicopter....probably a news vulture over the big intersection half mile away. Good grief.
had tea and toast and went forth to get my hair cut. Now or never with flu season coming in top of the rest. It is not really long enough Yet for same length chin length bob, but close. It mostly looked like a wavy Afro by now. I went to a fairly open walk in place with ten feet or more between peoole. by grocery store that sprays it with Lightly with water and cuts. So it doesn't have fresh cleaned and blown body but at least shape. in and out in 20 min. My 30 year person retired in January and her partner's cut in Feb was incredibly short disaster.
Then to Lamps plus for better shade for a good Stiefel brass lamp, shade narrow at top and wide at bottom and not white cloth. While there ...big sale...I bought another brass lamp with square marble base two pull chain bulbs and short, wide black shade...sort of modern Georgian look that reminds me of NY city library reading rooms. It is not teak and leather like the room but somehow fits. Most of our lamps are brass weapons if unplugged!

Chele, that's good news that the nodes are improving. I'm surprised he would have to dilate you again to look at them, but I think some of them just do it every time. Hope you and Iggy can relax this weekend. Karen, that'll be great to have a Publix closer to you. Yes, I saw that Wilfred was out there and last night the path was showing it looping around a bit. Today's grocery shopper said he had just gotten back from Gulf Shores, AL and that his parents' home was gone. They are down here now and he said it would be at least 6 months before they could go back. That sounds optimistic to me. I wish I could've gotten more details from him, but he was telling me all this stuff while he was unloading the groceries. Linda, hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. Lack of sleep can definitely mess things up. Becky, I wish our bars had the same rules as yours about food. I hate for the businesses to have to be closed, but bars are pretty hard to operate safely right now. They're back open in FL at 50% capacity and with more inspections to make sure they're following the rules. I hope we don't have another spike from it. The last one was in July and it took weeks for that to level off. We got one last band from Sally yesterday, so had a few gusts of wind and a downpour. It's been dry today, but a cold front is supposed to be coming and we'll have highs in the 80s. I'm all for that!
Liz, Friday at last! Hope you're home by now and relaxing.

Thanks for the start Chele.Happy Birthday Air Force.
Karen I think the closest TJ's is in Austin and I'm not going to Austin to buy any groceries. My knee is a little stiff tonight.I think I overdid it on the elliptical but so far not too bad.Scooter seems to have lost her appetite for dry kibble and hadn't eaten any in 2 days so I bought her some moist kibble packets(not wet food)and opened a packet on top of her dry kibble and she ate the whole packet but didn't touch the dry kibble. Not spoiled much.It does seem to help her.She still scratches some but she doesn't whine like it hurts anymore. If the cards are right I guess we will at least get rain.If not we won't.Our weather guesser said that's why it's called the cone of uncertainty. They are talking about rain maybe Monday and Tuesday. We haven't gone to the buffet since my birthday last year and were on the fence about it but since restaurants are able to open to 75% occupancy on Monday we probably will if it's not raining. We bought an airfryer oven today at Walmart. It's a good size one.It was supposed to be a together anniversary gift but something tells me I will be doing most of the cooking.Kenneth wanted chili beans so it will probably be after our anniversary before I use it.Glad you are taking it a bit easier today.
Chele I'm glad you don't need a biopsy.
Linda Where do you buy Micki's Apoquel? What we got at the vet clinic yesterday was way too expensive.Hope you feel better soon.
Kathy The bar owners are not happy and some have opened in protest.I think they may have had to shut back down.Originally they could be open at 25% occupancy but now not unless they sell 51% of their day in food.
Linda I had heard about Justice Ginsberg. While I was not a big fan of hers I admired and respected her for not letting cancer ever get her down and she was a very admirable woman.Even Trump said that about her when he found out.It will be a circus after mourning her death.I hope she RIP and her family gets peace and comfort from her passing.

Apoquel is prescription so I get it from vet. $5 a pill, but he takes only 1/4 a day.
