Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week?

All in all, it was a good day yesterday. Feeling almost back to normal in terms of soreness- yay for steroids! I'm feeling like I could take a walk this morning on flat ground, weather permitting. It was gray, drizzly, and cool yesterday morning, nice by the afternoon. I emptied quite a few boxes in the craft room, stashed away all the yarn I found so far. DH even hooked up a TV with his Firestick, although I think it's too far from the router to work that great. I think I'm going to need to buy either some open shelving, a cupboard, or both, to get everything put away in the craft room. There's a closet that's about 6 feet wide, but not very deep, with a narrow door, so I really need to think about how difficult it will be to get to stuff in the far corners. I may venture out today to look for storage solutions. And I'd like to get a haircut.
Murphy- Glad you had a wonderful birthday. Congrats to the transplant patient. I would be down for a Zoom call. The neighbor has been texting DH pictures of Annie, seems like she is doing well.
GG- Have fun with the grands on Saturday. Sorry about the expired WW product and the nail in the tire.
Cindy- Hugs!
Cathy- WTG AF, OP, walked, slept enough. The realtor has been having open houses most Sundays, but there hasn't been a lot of activity. We are getting a fair number of views online. The realtor says she can't figure out why she's not getting "traction" on the property. We picked her because she lives in the area. Maybe as it gets cooler up north, there will be more interest.

Good morning all! I overslept this morning! Just slapped that alarm and went back to sleep! LOL Only a half hour past when I'm normally leaving for work but I couldn't believe the difference in traffic! I'm at my smaller clinic today and they are short staffed so I'll be catching the phones.
Amy - As much as I love crafts, I almost love the storage and organization of the supplies more! LOL Hope you find shelves or a cupboard that will do. Be careful if you take a walk!
Cindy - Those intense talks do wear you out! Hope you were able to get some good rest last night.
Cathy - your posts are always so upbeat and encouraging! Thank you for that!
GG - have fun with the virtual learning today and family stuff tomorrow!
My friend stopped by after looking at the condo last night. She liked it and said she wanted to think about it before putting in an offer. We've known each other through church and choir for maybe 3 years? Her sister was with her last night and she really liked the condo so I expect she may be encouraging my friend to put in an offer. Apparently, condos are moving very fast in this market right now. No big plans for me today. I do want to switch out a few fall tops in my closet and maybe put away my sandals. Temps are supposed to be in the 70s for the next week or so! I will be burning candles this weekend for sure! LOL I hope you all have a wonderful day! Murphy

I want the second half of my life to be as good as the first half was miserable. Sometimes, I’m afraid it won’t be. Sometimes, I’m frightened it might be.
The good stuff can scare us. Change, even good change, can be frightening. In some ways, good changes can be more frightening than the hard times.
The past, particularly before recovery, may have become comfortably familiar. We knew what to expect in our relationships. They were predictable. They were repeats of the same pattern—the same behaviors, the same pain, over and over again. They may not have been what we wanted, but we knew what was going to happen.
This is not so when we change patterns and begin recovering.
We may have been fairly good at predicting events in most areas of our life. Relationships would be painful. We’d be deprived.
Each year would be almost a repeat of the last. Sometimes it got a little worse, sometimes a little better, but the change wasn’t drastic. Not until the moment when we began recovery.
Then things changed. And the further we progress in this miraculous program, the more we and our circumstances change. We begin to explore uncharted territory.
Things get good. They do get better all the time. We begin to become successful in love, in work, in life. One day at a time, the good stuff begins to happen and the misery dissipates.
We no longer want to be a victim of life. We’ve learned to avoid unnecessary crisis and trauma.
Life gets good.
“How do I handle the good stuff?” asked one woman. “It’s harder and more foreign than the pain and tragedy.”
“The same way we handled the difficult and the painful experiences,” I replied. “One day at a time.”

Hi girls!! All good here, I just got home from the cabin and have been catching up on the posts. Just wasn't going to the library as much to use the internet. Got the things done that I wanted up there, we can't close up until the first weekend of October or so as a cousin wants to go up at the end of September. It's gonna be COLD but fair warning and she knows it. Have plenty to do around here now and I will get back to personals today or tomorrow morning. Can't say my eating up north was stellar but there was no A in the house and that was a good way to get BOT. Hope you are all doing well. Jan

Hi girls! Great day today! 3rd times the charm! Both the kids and I know what to do. And if I goof up, they can get me back on! Lol DH was supposed to fix dinner, but decided not to. Luckily I had stuff here I could fix. I’m having cake tomorrow at Rylees party, so I need to save points.
Cindy: sorry you were drained after your conversation. Hope all is well.
Cathy: I do love all the family time, especially when I wasn’t planning on it this year. One good thing from the pandemic!
Amy: It’s amazing how the steroids are helping you! What was their diagnosis?
Murphy: Brr, it got chilly here today. Tonight it’s supposed to get into the 30’s and tomorrow only in the low 60’s. We’re going to Addis soccer game. Brr!!
Jan: Welcome home! We’ve missed chatting with you! Yay for no A!
Have a great night!

ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES! Fresh Start Monday! What is your accountability for the week? Better effort will create success. Move More Accountability Gotta keep on trying Sleep Accountability okay Nutrition Accountability AF. Ate leftovers and nothing very satisfying. I really need to work on my eating Happiness Accountability Okay day. Habit Accountability I think my only habit is waking up every day. Working on it! Check In Daily Accountability HERE! This is helping even if I'm not being very accountable! Amy, the one food plan that I know works is Dr. Perricone. www.perriconemd.com Three day jump start and then a 28 day plan. I think it is all online at the site. My RA doctor in Austin had several patients who had great success with it, minimizing to actual relief. He strongly suggested it to patients. I dislike salmon and substituting chicken didn't seem to bring the same benefit. My eating is terrible and doesn't seem to be changing, but if you like salmon, it seems to be a big help. The Mediterranean plan works for many people I chat with....I just don't seem to have the discipline. You probably know this...many RA doctors put you on steroids until another med really kicks in. I have to do blood test frequently to check levels. I dislike steroids but sometimes have no choice. Murphy, cheese curds are savory...Buffalo Wild Wings ones are fried...the grocery store carries them plain. The restaurant suggested the caramel so that they would taste like state fair food (??)...not my preference. I need to share today's thought with DS. Lots of discussion about pain of the past. Hope your friend decides to buy the condo. GG, it always amazes me how computer savvy kids are! Jan, welcome home! Glad to see your post! Cathy, sorry that your son's home sustained damage but glad everyone is okay, the most important! I'm up for a Zoom meeting but not sure when I will be up in the AM. When I get up, will check for info. Still thinking on stuff said last night. DS and I are fine, just shared different perspectives of past events and how they impacted us differently. Every day is a new start! hugs, Cindy

FRIDAY: AF/OP-within points/40 minutes exercise/scale 180.6 (and again this morning)
I have two books to write reviews for and will create a meal from leftovers and what is in the kitchen...no idea what the meal will be but it could be interesting...or not. Still not sure if it makes a difference to count points or not but am still counting as I make healthy choices and also recording what I eat. Scale is doing what it does as I do what I do.
AMY: Glad the steroids are helping. Remember that just because you are taking them and feel better it is not wise to overdo the exercise. I hope that as it cools down someone up north decides to move south to be warm and can't live without your house! Would narrow shelves in the closet work so you could go into the closet still to get to your craft supplies? My sister once used a closet to put a shelf in to hold paper cutter and other things with shelves above and below, too.
MURPHY: It will be interesting to find out whether or not the woman from church opts to put in an offer on the condo near you or keeps looking. I hope the extra sleep made you feel rested and helped you enjoy the day.
JAN: Glad you are home safely, stayed warm and enjoyed your time away. I wonder what plans your cousin has to stay warm while in the cabin when she goes.
GG: It must be nice to have settled into a routine of sorts. It will be a good year helping your grandchildren with school and making memories!
CINDY: Interesting discussion you had with your DS. It is always so when I and my sister/brother or children discuss a past event or time in our lives. It is so true that where you stand in a situation/event makes a huge difference sometimes.
