Ahoy, landlubbers! How are ye feeling today? Yo ho ho ho, Karen, and thank ye for the start.
No Yellow Springs today. We didn’t really need anything. Iggy cut the grass one handed and I did laundry. It is cool at 54° right now but sunny. My favorite kind of weather.
Just stopped in to say “Ahoy.” BBL.

Linda, I have a feeling RGB's passing increased the anxiety at your house. I know it did in mine. It's a shame she couldn't have lingered for a couple more months. I have already contacted both my senators, one of whom is on Judiciary, to ask them to join the Democrats in deferring this to the next administration (and hoping it won't be the same as the current one). One step closer to Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale. And then Trump tweets out that the Republicans have an obligation to act quickly to get the seat filled. Obligation to whom?? LOL on your brass lamps being used as weapons. We have brass as well, but it's not in the lamps.
The elliptical seems to be working well for you, Becky. Congrats on the new air fryer. We do a lot of things in ours and have had very few failures. Have you priced Apoquel on 1-800 Pet Meds or Chewy? Arya's HW is a lot cheaper there. I know you usually buy Scooter's monthly though, so that might not be an option. There was a segment on the a.m. news about bars being open in defiance of the 11 pm closing mandate, so it's just not there that owners are defying the laws. The ones near UT campus are apparently the worst. I know they are just trying to keep their businesses going, but it's a problem with their having daily super spreader situations. It appears the Ginsburg circus has already begun. They didn't even let the body get cold. She did a lot to further the causes of women, gays, and other segments of our country. And she was a real spitfire. Are you expecting rain from Beta about mid-week or is it not expected to get that far inland?
Chele, I know you are ready to have the eye situation over with, but it sounds like it's just going to take time to resolve. Patience isn't a virtue for you any more than it is for me. Your house sounds like my house--mowing for Dale and laundry for me.
WOW! on frost last night, Denise! I guess that's the end of your garden, unless you covered things up. Your leaves should start changing soon. Do you have the weekend off?
Kathy, I must have missed Alpha because we are already up to Beta. It looks like Teddy may affect Canada, but FL will be spared again. With all the stuff happening this year, something is going right for FL.
Hope you find out something on Zoe today, Liz, and that it's something easy to resolve. Get recharged.
Dale had to weed-eat the grass this morning and, of course, as soon as he was finished, he got a call from the repair place that the lawn mower was ready to be picked up. It's a nice Husqvarna that the renters left when they moved, but I think we may have sunk enough into getting it repaired 3 times that we could have bought a new one for what we have in it. For some reason, our landline isn't working today but all the phones are properly connected. I can't get logged in to our AT&T account to start a service ticket, so I'll have to wait til Dale gets home to see if he changed the PW. I know it was working yesterday because the service guy for the camera called us. The sewing machine also is not working, so I'll have to figure that one out.

Since nobody knows who the next president will be it may not make a difference when the new justice is sworn in.It would be difficult to have a case come before them when they start back up and have to come up with a 4-4 decision.
However it’s done it will be a circus and happy to say not my monkeys.

Avast and ahoy me mates! Shiver me timbers, we've made it to Talk Like a Pirate day. It's a toasty 88 already, so I needs to wet me whistle with some iced tea!
Karen, thanks for the start. RGB's passing also increased my anxiety. I feel a bit like I did after the election in 2016 with dread of what's going to happen next. She was an amazing woman and certainly did a lot to help all of us with vast improvements on women's rights in the workplace. She also did a lot for rights of the disabled. I do wonder how far backwards the extreme side of the Republicans would take things if they had total power. We're all too old to be handmaids, so I guess there's that.
When I heard Wilfred had formed, I assumed that was the one in the Gulf, but that is Beta. I missed Alpha too! We have a front coming through later and remnants of Sally still affecting out weather. My landline went out a few days ago and came back a few hours later, so maybe AT&T was working on something.
Chele, shiver me timbers, 54 is downright chilly! We won't be seeing that for awhile. Enjoy your cooler weather. (not jealous at all, ha!)
Linda, I was also very sad to hear about RBG's passing last night.
Becky, on top of the bars reopening, they're saying there may be Covid parties happening around campus. That's all we need around here! If Trump wins, then it won't make a difference on when the new justice is selected. But, we don't know which way the election will go yet and it's less than 50 days out. They wouldn't let Obama name a new justice when it was 10 months out! They operated with 8 justices for all of that time, so I think they can do it for a few weeks. I hate to see the circus surrounding RGB's death. She did a lot for all of us on this thread as far as woman's rights in the workplace go and also worked hard for rights of the disabled. I agree it will be a circus no matter what.
Liz, any plans for the weekend?
Denise, enjoy that cooler weather! It's still hot and muggy here.

moonriver, Denise, we are lots cooler but no frost. Our pepper plants and a couple of tomato plants are hanging in there. Yes, Iggy is doing well after both his procedures. Karen, I have never been known for my patience except when it came to training. Then I was patient with all but the smarta$$e$. Iggy and I had a good laugh over the name Hurricane Teddy because we know what a Teddy hurricane is like. Mower fixed. Camera fixed. Phone down. Sewing machine not working. Sounds like what happens around here. Kathy, it has been some hurricane season. I hope Pensacola is drying out. The Big Ten is supposed to start playing in October. Iggy has the South Florida/Notre Dame game on right now. No, I am not rooting for ND. Linda, my DB tweeted me last night about RBG. He is really bummed, too. I try not to dwell. My anxiety has been pretty high on a few fronts for a few months, so I need to calm myself. Meditation, anyone? Becky, one of the reasons we have been hesitant on getting another dog is the cost. I never had to buy Apoquel but the heart worm and flea medication was expensive enough. I hope Scooter recovers quickly. Is the itch on your finger gone yet? Liz, you had better have your feet up cuddling with the pups😁. Hope Gary enjoys the golf game.

Kathy, you're at a toasty 88 and we're at a fall-like 69, after a start of 58. Haven't had much sun to warm things up. Air quality is supposed to be good, but it looks a little hazy to us.I'm amazed you're still getting Sally remnants. We reported the landline and they have scheduled us for Wednesday between 8 am and 7 pm. They are supposed to call first. Hopefully it will come back like yours did and I can cancel. Yes, RGB was responsible in many ways for some of us being able to pursue careers that would not have been available to our mothers and grandmothers. We are all too old to be considered for a handmaid assignment, not too old for the work camps. Most of the ladies in our age group there didn't survive for long. Last I saw UCF and Ga Tech were tied. Go Knights!
Good plan to cover your plants, Denise. I shouldn't have to do that for a few weeks and actually things like kale are better after the temps drop a bit. I'll probably leave the marigolds until the frost because they are still showing nicely.
Chele, I'm with you on ND. We're watching Clemson beat up on The Citadel. Dale used the mower and it did well. Phone still down but I did get the sewing machine fixed, but I'm not sure I like the mask I made. New pattern. LOL on Hurricane Teddy. Your boy was definitely a force of nature. I was also more patient at work than any place else. I think I only lost my temper once or twice in 9 years as a dean.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele Nice weather. We have had a lovely day here too.LOL on Hurricane Teddy. The cost is why we have never gotten a second dog.Heartgard and flea meds are expensive enough alright and when they get sick or injured it's really expensive.Scooter is doing better I think.Still not eating her dry food but she will get very hungry if she doesn't.I may put 1/2 pack of the moist kibble on top of hers but she will have to learn to start eating her food again. She doesn't turn down table scraps and she started barking at the cattle again. My finger is fine now.
Karen I don't agree the Republicans have an obligation to pick a replacement before the election.I admired her for what she did for womens rights and equalities. However I would hate to see a decision thrown out because they don't have 9 justices.I even priced Apoquel on Walmart Pet RX and it was only $68.00.It was $94 at the vet clinic.Problem is Walmart sells them by the pill or at least charges by the pill.I do think they ought to allow a grieving period before they start looking for a replacement. I don't know how long that would take but give the family some peace first. We are hoping for rain from Beta but who knows.Alpha went to some other country that isn't supposed to affect weather in the US.
Kathy You are warmer than us for once. It's 83 with a good wind and low humidity.I agree they ought to wait until after the election.Who knows how long it will be before we find out who wins if there is interference from outside on the election. If Trump gets to nominate the next justice it could be someone way to the right and if Biden nominates one it could be way out left.I would hope they could get someone closer to the middle wherever the heck that is these days. I did admire Justice Ginsberg for never giving up when she had cancer and for everything she was able to accomplish. That is true about Obama. They can certainly wait 50 days.I am just glad I won't have to decide who gets to decide. One of our senators is on the short list but he has never even been a judge so I don't agree with his nomination. It seems like both parties have been circling like vultures the last few months waiting for her to die.I think Biden wants to nominate a woman maybe a black woman and I have no problem with that either.
Baylor had to end up cancelling their game for today.I don't know if someone tested positive for Covid or they weren't following proper protocols.

Chele, it seems like there's always something breaking down. The gremlins have hit my DM again. The power went out briefly and it looks like her computer may be fried. It took her DVR over 2 hours to come back, so it wiped something out with that too. I think there is something wrong with the way AT&T set things up, but getting them to figure that out would be next to impossible. Lol on Hurricane Teddy! I'm watching UCF/Ga Tech and so far, UCF is doing really well. Good thing FSU doesn't play them this year. I need to get back to more meditation. I use the Calm app, but have gotten away from doing it daily. It does help.
Karen, those temps sound wonderful. They said the remnants of Sally are in the Atlantic and just causing more moisture here. The cold front is supposed to come through tonight and tomorrow. It's starting to rain now. Hope the landline comes back on its own.
Becky, I'm glad Scooter is doing better. I hope they nominate someone more moderate too. I really think it's better when the court is balanced between different viewpoints. Well, they could nominate Merrick Garland since he was considered fairly moderate and even somewhat conservative leaning. I know that'll never happen!
