Glad Scooter is doing better.
Trying not to think about politics since aside from voting, not much I can do except occasionally inform the confused...boy a lot of folks know nothing about the Constitution, geography or history and seem to confuse communism and socialism or what a tariff is. Left and right are almost useless terms today, just insults. Most people are actually moderates or slightly left or right if you look at what the real edges actually are or they are fiscally one, socially the other. And Democrats are a very diverse group who do not agree with each other on lots! Republicans seem to be splitting at least on Trump. So categories are dead right now.
ASU has 4 campuses, main one here, and almost 1600 cases last three weeks, 78% living off Campus all over. They do remote classes with labs and such in person. But it is dorm life and parties driving it and self quarantine is on the honor system. There have been no penalties but that is changing since the Most of the college age does not care about anything but a good time.
only dry 102 today! Flirting with 104-5 off and on next 7 days. They say it has been an amazingly extremely hot summer here..way above records. No kidding. Only rained 2-3 times since beginning of April.Looking like another weird one for hurricanes.
Iactually slept! I got up with energy! Do beds got changed, laundry done, and I went looking for fabric for holiday masks. My quilt shop nearby is gone. I went to Michaels anyway for fall fake flowers on sale. Then the other quilt place was gone...until I realized I was a mile too Far East!
Bought some autumn leaf material for a couple Place mats...Pier One is gone, so no more plates or decor there. A couple fat quarters of fall color, a couple dark green patterns For guy Xmas masks, Some nice brighter ones for women and two cute ones for kids. So I guess I will put up the sturdy card table in one room and work at it off and on....still too hot for gardening but only 102 today.
on the way home I had to go to Baskin and Robbins I e cram for some take out cups of ice cream after reading about Phyl's adventures. I had the chocolate almond and DH his favorite rainbow sherbet.

moonriver, Denise, we usually have first frost in October as well. Next week will be a little warmer than this weekend has been. Iggy is doing well. I just have to keep reminding him not to lift is left arm. He has to sleep with it in a sling so it stays down. I am sure working all those extra hours is exhausting. My eye is still bothering me and I have been told it will take time to heal. Becky, I am sure Scooter appreciates the moist food and hope she goes back to her normal food. Our bars cannot serve alcohol after 10 p.m. and patrons have until 11 p.m. to finish any drinks they bought before the cut off. The restaurants are allowed to provide up to three drinks via carry-out orders. The 6 foot rule is in effect for seating and no more than 10 in one party. Every state has their own rules. The bar owners are not happy especially now with sports coming back. Kathy, your DM has had a time of it with the electronics. You should see how crazy Iggy gets when the wifi goes down. Sorry FSU lost but UCF prevailed. Notre Dame won.Boo! Linda, glad you had a better day yesterday. It is a different retail world out there nowadays. It was rough before COVID. Have fun with the masks. Liz, hope the weekend was relaxing. It is another beautiful fall day but warming up next week. I made dough for baguettes but my recipe calls for refrigerating overnight so I will bake tomorrow. Quitting the anti inflammatory has helped my stomach but I feel like it is having a rebound effect on my joints. They were doing pretty good before the pills but now they are unhappy. My left heel and arch are the worst. I cannot do an exercise walk so I have to use the bike. I would rather have pain in the joints than in the stomach, though. Have a good evening.

Chele sounds like your Fascia is mad. Do you have arch supports? Change shoes? I had that teaching three times..nasty.
the experts say with vaccine coming out, distribution is not organized even yet with all this time wasted and it will be slow, need two shots of same company, And not last...like flu shots. Nobody knows how long. And as we know, because of mutations, the shot has to change and is often not totally effective, and with flu shots you get the stringer senior version because we do not get immunity as easily any more. So the plan is, expect this for a year. if you are expecting Americans (up to early 40s) who grew up with a sense of self-interest And personal rights instead of social consciousness To behave, good luck. It is like nailing jello to the wall.
On the plus side, the experts say a good mask is almost better than vaccine at least for foreseeable future. Remember I read a ton of Covid articles?
I get to drop off the May through August files Tuesday and consult on my Questers part of an exhibit upcoming. The staff is there but museum not open. Frankly I could be working there because I am in a huge space by myself the whole time, but I think the city does not want to be blamed if old volunteers get sick. this morning after we had a continental breakfast of fruit, eggs, coffee and croissant (froze) some of that pile from Costco DH brought home) I finally dug small holes and dropped the citrus fertilizer into them while sun was on other sides of house. Guess I will set up the heavy card table for sewing and see.

Chele, it was my turn this morning to get the power surge. This has been going on quite awhile and nobody can get an answer from Duke about why it's happening. It's just enough to throw the internet off, so it interrupts people working from home. The weather is usually clear when it happens, so they can't blame it on that (although they try). We got slammed by some strong storms early this afternoon, so I guess that was our cold front moving through. It's 78 now, but with 94% humidity, so not exactly crisp fall weather. FSU's coach just tested positive for Covid, so I'm not sure what's going to happen with that. I think he's going to try and coach remotely. We're playing Miami next and I don't know if I can watch! At least UCF looks good. I'll also be rooting for the Irish. Sorry about the aches and pains, but that's good that your stomach is better.
Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Denise, it's nice to be wanted but sometimes it's good to say no. Some days I don't know how you and Liz do it. I'm retired and many times I'm too tired. Yesterday I don't know whether it was all the political stuff, gloomy weather, and/or Arya getting me up to go out and eat grass at 3:30 a.m., but I was dragging all day.
With the uncomfortable days you've had lately, Becky, I'm glad you got a bit of a break. I totally agree about there not being an obligation to choose a justice. Biden is moderate, so I don't see him picking someone who is far left. I can't believe Ted Cruz is even eligible. Like you said, he has never been a judge. Fortunately, he says he's not interested. I saw the long list of potential candidates and about 2/3 of them don't appear to have held a judgeship at any level. If Biden gets to appoint, I would love to see him pick Ketanji Brown Jackson from the DC Circuit. She was on Obama's short list in 2016 when McConnell pulled his stunt. I saw something about the Baylor game being postponed because they broke Big 12 covid protocol, what ever that is. This isn't the first game Houston was scheduled to play that got postponed due to no fault of their own, which is unfortunate. Good news on Scooter doing better. If she'll eat table scraps, she's just being picky. Has she been a finicky eater before?
Kathy, I hate your DM is having more electronics issues. Too bad Linda doesn't live closer or she could troubleshoot😊. I hope what you had this morning just caused the reset of the internet. We got a whole house surge protector that we had the electrician install on the circuit breaker box and it seems to be doing pretty well for us. I guess you got your UCF vs. FSU comparison yesterday. Can you say "blowout"?? Not a good thing for your alma mater. And the coach tested positive and is going to try to coach remotely? That seems like a stretch. Doesn't he have an assistant coach he trusts? I need to get back into meditation. I have the time. I just never think about it. Do you do a guided meditation on the Calm app? I'm guessing your afternoon storms are from that low pressure system that has parked itself just south of you. If so, you are going to have weather envy big time when I tell you what we have. It was upper 50s when we got up this morning and it's only 67 right now with bright sunshine. I barely broke a sweat working in the raised beds this morning.
You are so right, Linda, about terminology that doesn't mean anything these days. So far as people not familiar with the Constitution, that doesn't seem to be limited to the general population. Our freshman U.S. senator gave an interview last week that made it clear she doesn't know what an amendment is. How can she swear an oath to uphold the Constitution if she obviously hasn't read it? I know--same with the president. I agree that it's not the ASU students going to classes and labs causing covid to rise but all the other stuff. I saw something a few weeks back about a college student who said he was self-quarantining so he invited about 20 or 30 other students to his house for a party. He didn't get the concept of having to be by himself during quarantine. I just don't like the whole feel about the vaccine "race" and you're right about the total lack of organization for administering it. I'll just stay with my masks for a while to see if it's worth the effort. I wonder if it will end up being like the flu shot that you have to get one every year. But then I don't do that either. Enjoy your "cool" weather. How's your air quality? Congrats on getting a good night's sleep! I hope you replicated that last night. Did you find the other quilt place? Do you have a favorite mask pattern? Happy sewing! Hope your machine behaves better than mine does. I have both fall and holiday fabric but just haven't found a pattern that I find really comfortable to wear for more than 10 or 15 minutes. I heard Pier 1 was closing most of their stores. Hope you can get what you used to get there at World Market.
Chele, are you and Iggy having a laid back weekend? What's on the menu, since you didn't visit the farmers yesterday. We decided this morning that we will container grow our lettuces on the screened porch this winter. Easy to pick! I already have arugula and a couple of other lettuce varieties. How well is Iggy sleeping having to deal with the sling? Two steps forward, one step back on the anti-inflammatory. You already eat a lot of anti-inflammatory foods like tomatoes, olive oil, greens, and fruits, so it's a shame you aren't getting relief from them. Heel and arch almost sounds like plantar fasciitis. Been there and that's not fun. Let us know how the baguettes turn out. I've never been brave enough to try that. Did you make the dough in the Zo?
What's the word on Zoe's test, Liz?
I got a lot done with a couple of the raised beds. The one I had been solarizing did pretty well except for the rooted Johnson grass that I had to pull out by hand. Then I applied blood meal to give it some quick nitrogen for the garlic. Hope I don't regret that because it sometimes draws rodents, racoons, skunks, and opossums. I hosed it down good and covered it with cardboard, so fingers crossed. Then I pulled weeds and other plants out of one of the larger beds and it is now solarizing. I plan to sow wine cap mushroom spawn there to amend the soil at the same time I am not having to buy mushroooms. It will take a few weeks for them to begin fruiting after the spawn gets here. It was extremely comfortable outside and I'm not nearly as tired as I get when I have to deal with the heat. I have two other large beds to solarize but that will be for another day. Now I'm doing the weekly load of workout clothes and will do Garlic Shrimp with Zoodles for dinner but couldn't find any wild caught shrimp this week, so I'm subbing salmon.

Karen, Calm has a new guided meditation each day called the Daily Calm. They have tons of other stuff on there including classes and sleep music. The Daily Calm is the one I usually wind up doing. I should explore the rest of it more since like you said, I have time! Yes, I do have weather envy, although this is an improvement in our temps. DM's lawn is full of large mushrooms after all this rain.

Linda I'm glad you got some sleep finally. It really does help.
Chele Scooter must have really been hungry before breakfast this morning.I gave her some dry kibble and mixed a bit of water in it.I have had to do that ever since she had digestive issues a couple of years ago when I had to give her a dry probiotic and mix it with water.Anyway she ate all her dry kibble and I gave her some after lunch and she ate it too so hopefully she is back on schedule. If those rules for the bars would work in TX there wouldn't be a problem but when they were allowed to be open there was a tavern in Elgin that had a sign on the door that face masks could not be worn in there.I'm sorry the joints are hurting now.
Kathy I'm sorry about your power surge. We were lucky. We got the lower temps with low humidity plus strong breezes. We did get about 2/10" rain early evening but so far that's it.
Last night Trump even said he would nominate a woman but nobody will get confirmed before election anyway.I couldn't believe Nancy Pelosi said that impeachment wasn't off the table to keep Trump from nominating someone.Someone needs to knock the crown off her head she thinks she deserves.I'm not a Trump lover but I think a lot of times she is just as bad as he is.Scooter is just spoiled rotten. She normally eats her food but she would rather eat our food of course.

Waiting matches history and id that not what they insisted Way before an election last time? So with so little time they somehow think it is different? Do not really want to see that circus. It will be all out war. The election is bad enough. Moderate sounds good to me. Qualified experienced upper lever judge would be nice considering the job. By the way, the Republican woman who lost to our other senator was then appointed by the guv to replace MCCain. If the opponent Mark Kelly the astronaut and military pilot wins...ahead by 12 % ...He can be in the Senate by Nov 30 because she is just a place holder for next certified election winner.
interesting article ..is it flu or Covid? www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/09/18/covid-vs-flu-symptoms/?utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR0-MDgEvO87golu63RIJSLEG1bXKEHHYPcf925NoTTq-UyN4cDUmQ0QgjA
