Deb, Do you use frozen hash browns, how do you make them?? I wondered if food products you buy in the store have instructions on them for air fryers like they do for microwaves? The booklet that came with my air fryer gave very little information and no recipes.

mac Frozen, I just push the on button (it defaults to 400* 15 minutes) and then hit start. I pretty much use the default for everything I am heating up. Use the oven instructions for temp and time but you will find the time is shorter with the air fryer. I have only seen 1 product that had AF instructions on it.

Thanks Deb, plan to use air fryer this next weekend. Not sure what daughter and I will do, will post what we do. Default sounds good!🤗

mac I'll be honest mine sat there for awhile too, just like my electric pressure cooker did (I think that set a record for counter sitting until Mike walked me through using it then I was hooked.) Just plug it in and toss something in it, a grilled cheese sandwich is a good place to start. 😂 One thing to note, it uses a strong fan so make sure everything in it isn't going to fly around. Like when I do my grilled cheese I put a dab of whatever I am using on the outside, on the inside so it kind of glues it down until the cheese melts. Anything "heavy" won't fly around, usually just bread.

Oh and I usually flip it halfway through. Probably not necessary all the time but I am a compulsive flipper.

Grilled cheese Hot dogs Sausages Chicken Breast Fried chicken- from scratch or heated up Pork chops-regular or breaded roast veggies frozen fish or chicken patties Hamburgers Steaks The frozen rolled up stuff chicken breast.
Just about any meat
For a guide line I usually do everything about 380 for half the time it takes in the oven. Check half way through and adjust as needed

Bacon? mac, I was interested in this so I check on-line and it sounds like it won't work because it has too much oil already in it. Check out this link. Plus, at the bottom of the article are links to other foods that work well. Cooking Light

Linda 72,
Thanks for posting the article, more great information for a first time user!
I plan to try some recipes from the article, will post results. Good to know about the bacon as it's sounds like it makes one big mess. Cooking bacon in the oven is the right way to prepare it. I can remember years ago frying bacon on the stove and, boy, did I hate that!🤗

I am just curious what kind of air fryer you all use? Is it the basket type or the kind you can bake, roast, dehydrate, etc with the shelves and window to look in?

borntexan, I have an Ambiano that I bought at Aldi's back several months ago for $50. I can't find the instruction booklet for it but I know it doesn't give much information so I'm grateful for all the info on this thread. I didn't want to spend a lot on it because I didn't know if I'd use it. Good luck in your search for one! Let us know how you come out.

mac I bought the Power XL pro plus and it's built like an oven with the window you can look in. I was just curious what everyone that had one used.

Cooking bacon in the oven is the right way to prepare it. I can remember years ago frying bacon on the stove and, boy, did I hate that!🤗 I grew up cooking it on the stovetop in a cast iron pan. About 10 years ago my infusion nurse told me about the oven method 😱🤯how did I not know about this? Life-changing! No more standing over it getting splattered. I will never go back to stove-top. And I LOVE Aldi's!!!! ❤️ borntexan I actually have one of each because I couldn't decide. (After the flood, brain was fried, I was just trying to stock the kitchen.) I have only used the basket one, it just seems easier. But the other one looks pretty on the counter 🤣 I really need to read the manual.🙄
