WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C112D3, 1199 calories, 21 purple points, 6815 steps, PT exercises
I never got out to walk today since my grocery order came while Janet was here. But a friend that I speak to rarely called. Instead of just sitting during our very long conversation, I walked back and forth in the house. I was flabbergasted to see over 6000 steps. That will be a good habit for the future especially during Covid when lengthy phone conversations have become the norm.

Good morning. Dinner and conversation were both good. I ordered a small salad with salmon on top. I was disappointed at the size of the salad, especially for the price. The salmon was delicious. I’ve never had a restaurant ask how I wanted my salmon cooked (like steak) but it was done to perfection.
I got a few fall decorations out yesterday, did some yard work, and went for a run and a great bike ride. I’m sad that the riding season is almost over. I’ve had a milk can on my front porch for as long as I can remember. Yesterday I painted it and put a burlap bow on it. I’m waiting for a decal to come. I ordered it from someone on Etsy. It has a G, our last name, and says est. 1995. Today I’ll get some pumpkins, mums, and cornstalks for a few areas around our house. It’s a good year to decorate; I’m home more now that high school sports are over. It’s also nice to have our home decorated during the pandemic, sort of a bright spot.
Lori, I remember the days when a 100 calorie pack and an apple were both 2 points, and that was the analogy I always made. For 2 points, most people chose the snack pack over the apple. I will send you pictures of the fireplace. I absolutely love it!
Nancy, RGB’s passing has made this political season 10x worse, and I didn’t think that was possible. If you or anyone else is interested, you can text RBG to 50409. It will send letters on your behalf to your senators asking them to withhold a vote on the Supreme Court justice until after inauguration. It’s a great tool; I used it last month for an issue with the USPS. I got an email the next day from one of our senators.
Jane and Nancy, wishing you both a happy new year. It’s quite something that RGB died on Rosh Hashanah.
Kathy and Louise, I hope you’re both doing well.

Met a friend today and went for a 4000 step walk. I could have gone further but didn't want to push it. I'm still wearing the backless shoes though and still can't seem to wear the sneakers for any length of time, like more than a half hour.
Jan - Your house sounds lovely. I don't follow facebook routinely so please let us know if you put up photos. I'd be happy to text re RGB but will it lead to lotsa spam? DS Columbus rides his bike like you do or even more. He just got a Peloton and loves it. He wanted to get me one for the big birthday but I passed. Just as well since the Dr. didn't even want me on the little pedal bike. It would probably be perfect for you but the price is insane and I think you have to subscribe to the programming in addition.

Nancy, wonderful that your foot is feeling so good! You were smart not to go any farther. Yes, I think your son rides a lot more miles than I do. I actually have a stand that I can put my bike on and ride during the off season, and I can always use the Spin bikes at the gym.

Jan - 2 good options though I know you prefer the outdoors. Off to my PT exercises. This time I'm going to follow the homework videos online to make sure I'm doing them correctly. Then I'll make my 3 day salad in time for our movie tonight "A Good Year". Do you know that one? One of my favorites.

I had a nice time with family celebrating DN Communion. It was at an Italian restaurant, private room, about 14 people. Food was served family style. I had a little of everything and a normal size piece of cake - enjoyed every bite. Surrounded by healthy food. I estimated the calories at 2000 for the day. I plan on fitting it into my weekly calorie budget. I’ll see how it goes.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Lori - Seems things are opening up. Did it feel a bit wierd eating indoors with a whole group? When's the last time you had a normal size piece of cake without bringing half home? At 128, you are certainly entitled.
