WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

It was a productive and fun weekend and I want another day off! Between running and biking I covered 30 miles—8 running and 22 biking. I got new running shoes a little over a week ago (not the ones that bothered my foot). What a difference. I can get through 8 miles without my hips hurting. Maybe that’s a hint that I need to replace my shoes more often.
Nancy, I’ve not heard of that movie. Do you stream Netflix? I think you just get DVDs, right? I watched The Social Dilemma this weekend. Very eye opening. I also started watching Away with Hillary Swank. It’s excellent.
Lori, did the cake set off any triggers? Wonderful that you can work a special meal into your weekly calories.

139.5!!!!!!!!
Jan - Better new shoes than a new hip. If you get HBO, search A Good Year on TV. It's all over the place right now. We were getting the DVD's but we just cancelled our subscription because fewer and fewer movies are available. I think they're putting all of their efforts into the streaming. Are those two movies available only on netflix streaming?

C29D5 Yesterday's Stats: 3098 steps, 1.27 miles, in 30 minutes; kcal 108 I've started to use the Simple Tagging feature because not only does it give you a reference to Tags, Likes, and Quotes you've received, it gives you the links to them. It only works if the member has posted Click the "Profile" tab at the top of the board Click the "Notifications Tab" at the top of the profile box Did you know that at the live meetings if the number of attendees exceeds the social distancing capacity of the venue the coach stays and repeats the entire meeting for whoever couldn't get in? The dates for the figure skating lessons are out. It's starting Thursday in the first week of October. Registering is something else I am going to put on my To-do list. It doesn't leave much time though. nancy , Congratulations on your weight I'm back down at 134.4 this AM. Good point about the walking when you're on the phone. I'm finding the videos which come with my PT program very helpful. I've played them multiple times and find things I can tweak. I had the hardest time on the leg lifts when on my stomach getting the breathing right. Lori -128 is great, good for you! I got down to 126.x (I can't remember the fraction but it might have been 0.6) So I met my personal goal of getting back down to 129 which was my unchangeable goal weight when I joined WW 44 years ago. I decided though that I wouldn't try to maintain it, at least not now. I'd like to stay no higher than 133. FYI I have a photo of myself (I think in Rome, Italy) where I was at 121; the lowest weight I achieved on WW. I never thought about leggings. I wear them when I skate. Do you wear a tunic with them? Jan, You give those shoes a pounding as much as you run. Probably not a bad thing to replace them more often. I liked your perspective on decorating. We have rules here about what can be done to the front of the house. Many are not adhering to them but I don't think the HOA is really perusing them. I should probably get a seasonal wreath for the front door or the hook between that and the living room window. Jane - Great to see your weight is coming down and you feel yourself being able to do more exercise. I think two fifteen minute walks is what I am planning for now. OK, I'm off to have lunch and then to the lawyer's office to sign the affidavit so we can close the rest of DM's bank accounts

Just a brief check in. My holiday eating was good. I overate at the "celebratory" Rosh Hashanah dinner (as opposed to a simple"replacement for home-meal" dinner), but only in the way in which people who have normal relationships with food do. Yesterday was more challenging, as is today. I am not bingeing and do not perceive that I am in danger of a binge. But, I may want to reset tomorrow, if only to help me commit commit to clean, clean eating. We shall see.
Right now, I am rushing off to PT. I am always early in life. Today, I will be happy to get there with 5-minutes to spare.
Enjoy. See you tomorrow.

Louise - Hope you can register for the skating. I'm sure it will be so nice to get back to it.
Jane - Kudos for celebratory eating as a normal person might do. I know just what you mean. How conscientious are you about doing PT homework? I've gotten much better at it than I was the last six-week session. I think it's paying off.

I’m very happy with the way I handled yesterday. Yes, I ate a lot of foods I don’t normally eat and enjoyed the delicious cake, almost like a strawberry shortcake - it wasn’t super sweet and I stopped there!! And I didn’t bring any home! ! I think that was why I didn’t fight the sugar cravings. My brother actually made a comment that I was eating more than he saw me eat in a whole year.....and I simply said, it’s all in my budget! I did talk myself out of stopping for an ice cream cone, and I’m so glad I did. I came home had a light dinner (turkey roll ups in a jicama wrap fromTJ and reduced guilt guoc, also TJ) for my last snack, I had a sliced fresh picked apple drizzled with sf caramel syrup. Totally satisfied and today was a 1200 cal day! The scale today was 130.2 (128.9 avg.) which I expected, now I want to see how it goes the rest of the week.
Nancy, WhooHoo on scale Victory!!! Great Job! I know what you mean when you say “the day got away from me”. Since working from home, I’m getting a lot more accomplished but the time just flys by...
Jan, I would think you would need new sneakers based on the mileage you put on them. The right sneakers make a world of difference. I actually had to turn around and change my sneakers because my feet and hips did not like the new sneakers....
Louise, Glad you’ll get to ice skate. I like to wear a long shirt/sweatshirt with leggings.
Jan, Normal to overeat during celebration. It what happens after that can be the issue.
Kathy, hope everything is going well!

Lori - Yep. I thought I'd spend my retirement with my legs up, reading books. Hasn't happened yet <g>. I always threaten to keep a diary of how I spend my time. Maybe I'll try it tomorrow as I have the first free day in ages - no appts, no PT. I'd love to find out where my time goes.
