you got our weather from what...a week ago or maybe two weeks...whenever we had all that snow
Anyway, good afternoon to all. I hope you will all have a wonderful week. I have a lot of things planned but don't know how many of them I will actually complete.
Last night oI just made a bunch of face scrubbies. I figure with all those teenage girls that my ds and ddil have they will be able to use those. REmains to be seen if they will actually use them or not but it makes a nice little gift. They also remove makeup and you don't have to pay for disposable ones. These can be washed and dried easily. This morning I made another then started a nice was or discloth which I think I'll actually turn into potholders by crocheting two of them together. I don't know many people that actually use many dishcloths except me. Yes they do use them to was counter tops and stove. I don't care for the cotton ones myself so use the disposables.
I also looked at the Viking hats...you all probably remember me talking about them on and on. Well I never did get those horns sewn on and thought I better check and see if the smallest one might now be too small for youngest dgs. Well I think the largest and the next largest which was intended for the little guy that will be 7 at the end of Oct will both be too large. I wasn't expecting to see that. So now I may make two new ones of those and get those horns on. I for sure won't be mailing that package tomorrow.

Quiet here so far today.....not sure if I will have the energy to get back here later on, I have study group tonight.
Well, i did get some crafting done- sort of. My fabrics are all ironed for the first Christmas panel quilt. I feel good about that and can now start looking at the directions a bit (which I already did) and get a feel for how I want to assemble it. So some progress. Dd and two of the grandkids will be here for awhile tomorrow, so I am unsure how much quilting time I will get in tomorrow. I am happy that I at least got started on this so when I can pick it up the first step is done. Next is trimming the fabrics... which are so pretty. At least I think so.
It was COLD here this am- almost 32. (Duh, I see I mentioned that earlier). And supposed to be colder tonight. I did bring in my lemon tree. The orange tree will be covered in a tarp shortly, so if we get a light frost its ok.
Hope the start of everyones week is going well. Ginny

Ruth, you just snuck in on me!!! I think the scrubbies would be useful by all the teens....they seem to like those shower poufs (not a big fan myself) and even if they do not use the scrubbies for their faces, they would work fine for that. That yarn has a little bit of some grit to it, doesn’t it?? Were those Viking hats a lot of work?? Yes I remember you making them. How long will this push off mailing the package? I am sure you have the yarn.....ha ha ha.....when must the package be there??
Ok off to cover that tree and try to get the outdoor cat in. G

Ginny, two of the dgd's birthdays are last of Aug and last of Sept (oh I'd better look up the exact day. I didn't realize it was so close!) The next ones are not until the end of Oct and in Nov so I thought it best to mail the package right in the middle. Ds' birthday is also in Nov so they and have a huge birthday bash with gifts for everyone. I never got ddil's sent so her's are in there too. And that takes care of everyone there but two and I'll include a couple things for each of them too so they don't feel left out.
You're really getting those projects going. Crochet and your quilts for Christmas....good going!! Did you get out your winter coat? That sure is cold I don't think it got quite that cold here but close.

Ruth, think sending a box of goodies in late September sounds perfect- to straddle the various birthdays in your Ds’s family. You could go bonkers trying to keep up with little packages for everyone to arrive on their special day. Think a birthday bash in the November is a nice solution. Also makes it easier for you to get everything in one package. Did you get started on the Viking hats??
Standby again this am.....so I got a little bit of crocheting in. Also had some business to attend to regarding the driver I am working with. She is a sweet lady- wants the job but I am not sure if I can infuse the skills she needs into her.
Dd stopped by with the two youngest grandkids for a short while....nice to see them!!! Gosh they grow up so quickly.

Hello Crafters It's been cool here with daytime temps in the 60s. I think we're supposed to warm up later this week. At least it's been sunny and dry. I'm resisting turning on the heat until October, so I just bundle up during the day and stay under the covers at night I finished machine quilting the quilt top I mentioned. I'm pretty happy with how it came out and it wasn't too bad. I decided to quilt diagonal lines about 4 inches apart (see picture below). I think the next quilt I just want to do straight lines up and down instead of diagonal since it was a bit bulky trying to get all the quilt through my sewing machine. I like the backing fabric, it's a pretty pink paisley. This quilt is ready for binding and I want to get that made and done so I don't have a bunch of quilts around waiting for binding. I'm also going to get some different thread. On the apple table runner I used MSQC thread and it was fine. This last quilt I used Aurifil thread and it broke several times when it was going through my machine (the top part). I've rarely had any thread break on my machine, so I guess it just doesn't like this type. I might pick another top and work on it while I have my walking foot on my machine. I'd like to work on one that I like, because I really just wasn't happy with this quilt I just quilted. It was a good quilt top to learn on though. Hope everyone else is getting some crafting done. Take care everyone

Good afternoon everyone. We were out this morning at the home improvement store then Walmart. Dh was a basket case in Walmart because people obviously don't know the meaning of "social distancing" Wherever we went in the store it seemed like that was just the place everyone else want to be at the same time. Got home and put away all of the refrig and freezer items. Then made homemade chicken strips. As soon as I get rested I'll clean up the kitchen and put away cans. etc Ginny, I'm sure it was great seeing the two youngest grandchildren. I know they are super cute! Glad you were able to get in some crocheting while being on the as needed driver time. I know you would hate if you had to say that the woman wasn't qualified and never would be for driving a school bus but better that than putting childrens' lives in danger. CJ, you did a great job on that quilting. I don't think I'll ever be able to make lines that straight. While out we stopped at the mailbox too and there was an envelope with letters from the three youngest grandaughters. In each of their letters was a picture of those three button cowls...have you seen those. Each of them told me that If I was looking for something to make they'd each love to have one. Would have been much easier, or at least faster, than the pocket shawls. I've always wondered if they would like those because I like them myself..not for me. I'd never get around to wearing one but some of them are really pretty. So three button cowls added to my list and I might just make those for the other grandaughters for Christmas gifts instead of pocket shawls. Depends on how much time I have as it gets close to Christmas. As far as the Viking hats go, I went by a chart but I don't know how accurate they are. I made one that is supposed to be the size for a 3 year old and one for a 7 year old but I think the first is too small and the second too large. Anyolne know for sure what the sizes of those age boys heads really are? I could ask ddil or ds but they'd say they'll measure and they will never get around to it. We also stopped for gas and had the same problem with the card again...different card this time. Well finally a thing came up asking for phone number so I put that in and it actually worked. Have a great evening everyone. I'll be crocheting. "

Good evening,
CJ, that quilt top looks GREAT- you did a wonderful job- lines are straight and even. I always liked the look of diagonal quilt stitching, it looks so classy. The pink paisley fabric is so pretty. Nice job for sure!!
Ruth, yes it’s embarrassing to see how some folks just have no idea what social distancing is, nor do they care. Very very frustrating indeed. And you feel so violated after such an experience....Pretty funny story about the 3 button cowl- yes they are so pretty and would probably take much less yarn that a pocket shawl too. There are charts online for hat sizes for children. If I see DGD#2 in the next day or so I will measure her head. She is 2 1/2.....DGS #1 has a huge head- he is 5.....I won’t measure his head!
Long day...think I am going to go read. Have a great night all G

Hello Crafters Ruth - Those cowls sounds like a nice project and gift. I'm sure they will make those girls look really stylish I've always needed a large personal space, being an introvert with other "issues" So the virus thing has worked well for me to keep people away. But you're right there are people who don't understand social distancing. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed your reading and got some rest. Phyl - I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and that you had a nice night's sleep - those are rare for me too. I'm sure you are enjoying your fall decor too, glad you were able to get it put up. Sue and Rene - Hope you are well and doing some crafting. I went out shopping this morning, and ran errands too - bank, gassed and washed the car, mailed bills. I went in Target since I was looking for two pumpkin cereals that come out this time of year and I was happy to find both of them - Special K Pumpkin Spice and Pumpkin Spice Frosted MiniWheats. I also went in JoAnn fabrics and bought some fabric for quilt backings, another piece of batting since it was on sale and some machine quilting thread. I thought I was getting all 50 weight thread, since the spool I picked up said it was 50 wt and I bought some spools that were in the same area. But when I got home and looked at them, only 2 were 50 wt and the rest were 30 wt. I wasn't happy about that. But since I piece with 30 wt and it works well in my machine, I'll try a few small quilt pieces with the 30 wt machine quilting thread and see how it goes. I read that it's a thicker thread so it shows more on the quilt, which is not what I like. I like the quilting to kind of disappear in the quilt. But maybe this will work. I'm not taking it back, so I'll just have to use it. I'm pretty stocked up now to work on machine quilting some of my quilt tops, so I hope to get a few done a week. I'm starting with the smaller ones and then I'll see if I'm ready for a larger one. I figure at least I'll have enough experience by that point so I don't mess up the nice tops I meant to mention that the FaLaLa Sew along started on Monday. The four embroidery patterns were released this week, so I've already traced mine and hope to start stitching them soon. They are very small (around 4 inches) so hopefully it won't take long. Hope all of you are getting to do some crafting and are doing well and having nice weather. Take care!

Phyl, so glad you are feeling better!!!! I am happy for you that you got your fall decor up.....dont you love fall colors!!
CJ- good to hear that you got to Joanns-and that you were able to find your two favorite pumpkin flavored cereals!! They make so much now that is pumpkin flavored- think my daughter would like the pumpkin spice special K - she likes that cereal. Are those the only two pumpkin spice flavored foods that you enjoy? Sorry about the mishap with the thread weight- glad you are resourceful and will make it work anyway. I look forward to seeing the progress on the quilt tops as you quilt them.
Today I am unraveling some yarn...so it will be easier to work with. And last night I ordered a stitch in the ditch foot for my machine which will be helpful with the Christmas panel quilts G

Phyl, it's great that you're feeling better.
CJ, I'm not much for flavored coffee but I do like pumpkin spice lattes. I won't be getting any this year. I did have the pumpkin spice frosted mini wheats and grandaughter had some while she was here then dh finished them. I don't really like cereal like that. Sorry about the thread problem.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you ordered a stitch in a ditch foot. I didn't even know they had those kind of things. I sure is nice that it will help in your quilting.
I've been cleaning, cooking and a little crocheting. I worked on one of the cowls last night but today decded that it was too wide for a 9 year old which is the person I intended it for so I ripped it out and started over but kept making mistakes. Guess cleaning made me tired.
I sure am not happy hearing and seeing on tv the "protests" in Louisville. My son works in Louisville. I hope he doesn't have to go to the part where they are but he did say a couple months ago that protestors had blocked one of the interstate's exits.
