Becky, did the PT stretches from yesterday make you sore today?
Kathy, I wondered if those were edible mushrooms. I don't go mushroom hunting in the woods because I would probably poison us.
Linda, we have yet to go to a grocery store where people aren’t in their own world. 2/3 mile in that heat Is great.
Karen, how was the gym?
The PF will take awhile to improve. Meanwhile I won’t power walk. I’ll use the bike. The knees and hip are improving but bounding down the stairs like I had been with the anti inflammatory is out of the question. Iggy got his flu shot this morning.
The turkey farm revamped their retail store and had a 20% off total purchase, so we got some turkey thighs and legs. They didn’t have my Tony Packo’s mustard relish.😭 Then we went to the orchard and got apples and pears grown locally. It is a beautiful sunny 75° and a great day for a drive.
Have a good Tuesday.

Chele, thanks for the start. That quote does take some pondering. I've heard of walking catfish, but not flying trout! 🦈 I wouldn't eat mushrooms from the woods either for the same reason. There are too many varieties and you really need to know which is which. Now I'm thinking of college roommates who went on a mushroom field trip one day to get a different kind of mushroom. No thanks to that either! 🍄 A day in the orchard sounds nice. It's 82 here, so our cold front has arrived. It is much nicer than the 90s.
Becky, Happy Anniversary! Any plans for today? Hope you have a good one.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Flying 🐷s only happen in Cincinnati😁. I've taken several 🍄 ID classes and I still don't pick anything unless I am 110% certain of what I'm looking at. I used to pick a lot of chanterelles in the woods at the old house and did have a few locations where we would find chicken of the woods. But most of the others in our woods at the other house were Amanitas, which are very poisonous or boletes, which aren't very tasty. It's amazing that we don't have many mushrooms fruiting in all the wooded areas we have here. Have you tried running the PF over a can of frozen OJ to try to numb it a bit? Have you done the stretch where you sit with your feet up and pull your toes toward your shin? That sometimes helps mine. Good job on the turkey and the orchard finds. Any chance Tuesday is 20% off day? Sorry about the Packo's. What variety of 🍎🍏 did you get? You are 10 degrees warmer than we are but I'm not complaining. The gym was good! When I got off the reACT trainer, I had some guy walk up to me and apologize for staring (I didn't even know I was being watched) and asked me about what benefits I got from that machine. So I had a teachable moment. I tried something a little different this morning. You can get a good core workout if you are able to balance without holding on and I tried that for the first time this morning and didn't fall on my a$$ so I'll be doing it that way from now on. It's pretty difficult, so I can't do it for the entire 10 minutes. Maybe some day. I also located a couple of machines that I use at the other WA that I didn't even know my local one had. So I added them.
Happy Anniversary, Becky and Kenneth! Did you celebrate in Taylor? Any update on PT? Is Beta raining on you? Looked pretty bad in Houston from what I saw on TWC.
Kathy, the Atlantic looks eerily quiet at the moment. Did you see the post I left last night about DM's mushroom ID? Does she have a lawn service? If so, if they would aerate, that might help. Or DN could put on a pair of spikes and walk around in her yard after it dries out a bit. I did a little research on meditation apps and downloaded one called Insight Timer. It had a great rating and most of it is free except for classes, etc. I started using it and like it so far.
How did you sleep last night, Linda? Are you getting more of a sleep pattern established to incorporate Micki's shot? Like Chele, I find people in their own little worlds while shopping. But I think it's always that way but I notice it more now that I'm trying to avoid everyone.
Liz, how's the week going? I heard that flu cases have been way down in the southern hemisphere during their winter, so hopefully that will be a good omen for us going forward. When will you have a firm diagnosis on Miss Zoe?
How are things going for you, Denise?
We got a happy surprise yesterday. I noticed on my Informed Delivery email that we had something coming from the lawyer who did the paperwork on the house sale. Of course, my first thought was, OMG, they are suing us over something! It turned out to be a pretty good-sized check that was a refund because we had already paid the taxes right before the sale went through and it came out of the escrow account. MG meeting went pretty well last night and we have new bylaws finally approved. My original pre-covid timetable on that was May. But it's done and they will go into effect in January. That means 2 fewer people on the board next year, which will be nice for recruitment. I also have 2/3 of the nominating committee set. One more task down. I did the meeting from the screened porch and Arya was back and forth for most of the time but really wanted me to come in to sit on the couch with her. It's a pretty day, so I think I'll take this dog out on the deck for a while. She probably won't want to say for long.

Good afternoon chicks and happy autumn! Chele - I hope the PF eases up and doesn't continue to cause you so much pain. I developed that several years ago and have been wearing different types of shoes and insoles ever since. Nice picks from the turkey farm; I tried to have Gary grill turkey thighs before my denture and they just didn't come out well. They might have needed additional marinating . It's a lovely 70 degrees and sunny here in the city. How is Iggy doing after his flu shot? Kathy - are the power blips continuing? Are they doing work on the grid? Congrats on the temps coming down and being nicer; I agree that 80s are much better than 90s. Becky - happy anniversary to you and Kenneth! Congrats on those 36 years together! Good to know that Scooter is eating again. How is the weather by you? Sounds like you needed the stretching from PT to help loosen those muscles up but it surely can be uncomfortable! Linda - How are DH and Micki doing? I know your temps were up in triple digits again. Are you having air quality issues from the wild-fires? The devastation is just incredibly horrible and unprecedented. Karen - good job at the gym and nice of you to do the teaching moment for the gent about the machine you were using. Congrats on the balancing without having to hold on; I did a bit of that when I was rehabbing the hips and it certainly wasn't easy for me. Hurray for found money even if you've already paid it! Glad that MG work is panning out and seems to be coming along well. Zoe is at the vet today for her 8 hours blood test to confirm Cushing's Disease. ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic Hormone) stimulation test and low-dose dexamethasone suppression test. They are administered at approximately 4 hour intervals to see how the levels react. Once the determination is made then we talk treatment plan. Hopefully that will be medicine and not surgery. I think we will know the outcome by this evening. I hope you get to enjoy some deck time on this nice day with Arya. I'm off to fight the forces of evil and the ever present budget crunch that is prevailing in the hospital also thanks to Covid19. I hope you all stay safe and well! Ciao for now dear ladies~

I am stunned... 200,000 plus dead and last night at a rally the man who knew it was bad and did not tell us or take action ... and people believe this? I have friends with young people who are vulnerable...there are so many. And we have deaths in my county ...children, and long term effects. I hope people keep taking care and do not believe this and get sick or have kids bring it to grandma.
”As the U.S. death toll from the novel coronavirus prepares to eclipse 200,000, President Trump on Monday incorrectly claimed at a campaign rally that covid-19 “affects virtually nobody” younger than 18, again downplaying the extent of the pandemic and contradicting his previous statements that the virus poses a risk to “plenty of young people.” In front of a crowd of mostly maskless supporters not adhering to social distancing in Swanton, Ohio, Trump suggested that only older Americans with heart problems and preexisting conditions truly need to fear the virus. “It affects elderly people, elderly people with heart problems and other problems. That’s what it really affects,” the president said. “In some states, thousands of people — nobody young. Below the age of 18, like, nobody. They have a strong immune system, who knows? Take your hat off to the young, because they have a hell of an immune system. But it affects virtually nobody. It’s an amazing thing.”

Karen, those mushrooms are pretty common around here, so good to know they're fairy rings. Interesting name. We saw several fairy rings in Ireland and the UK, but they were the standing stones kind. Her neighbor mows her yard and the mushrooms have already been mowed down. I don't know if he just mowed over them or if he did something else. Congrats on the extra cash! That's always a nice surprise even if it just evens out with what you paid.
Liz, no more power blips so far. It would make sense if they were working on the grid, but would be nice to have some warning. Hope they can treat Zoe without surgery. The 90s will return, but it's nice for now. Hope your week isn't too crazy!

Linda, it is stunning. I had watched some of CNN's coverage last night and they had the 200,000 names scrolling by during the broadcast. I flipped over to Fox later just to see if they were saying anything about it and Laura Ingraham was mocking Biden for wearing a mask. She put her hand over her mouth and started imitating people talking through a mask. "Gee, I wonder if Biden will wear a mask during the debates, ha, ha, ha." Yeah, it's so funny that Biden actually listens to the medical community and wears a mask. Kind of ruined my evening and I won't be doing that again!

Happy anniversary Becky...thought it was before this on pizza day.
I learned that hamstring stretch in PT..you sit with kegs extended, loop a necktie or such around the ball of your foot and pull toward you for count of 30 three times each leg. You do same lying down using the tie to raise a leg to stretch it without using leg muscle ...stopping where it gets uncomfortable. You can also brace the ball of your foot against a curb or step or such to achieve that stretch angle standing.
i think they do a couple of these for PF too.
dr days I need to get back to doing my PT For my knees...between staying home and staying inside from heat..too much sitting.
it was cloudy, 85 and sprinkled when I went to dr to get gel shots ordered again for left knee...little over month early To avoid flu season on top of COVID. Cases rising at colleges and soon in schools.

Liz, thanks for stopping by. If I remember, there are 2 versions of Cushings. I hope, if that's what the diagnosis is, that it's the one that doesn't have surgery as an option. There are a few good medication options for that one. How did Wally do home alone for the day? Did you use a reACT trainer in PT? I've never seen one at a therapy center, but it would be a great tool for them. MG is an up and down thing most of the time. Good weeks and bad weeks, especially now with so few volunteers being willing to do anything. I've had to work today on alternate plans for a weekend event because my volunteers, a married couple, got called out of state on a family emergency. Medical question for you: around here they are urging people to get the flu shot now, but I read a while back that it's best to get it in mid-October. So, will the people who are getting it now have to get another one later in the season when the first one wears off?
I saw that Ohio rally, Linda. I also saw that they were booing the lt. governor when he was trying to give out Trump masks. It doesn't seem like it's only young people with co-morbidities who are dying from the virus. And there is part of a Woodward tape where Trump says it affects young people as well. Are the syncophants not believing it unless they see the words come out of his mouth? It's his voice on the tape! I'm still really ticked about the SCOTUS situation and it looks like it will happen regardless of more than half the country being opposed. We can hope people will get upset enough about this that the Senate gets flipped and Moscow Mitch and Lying Lindsey will be two of the casualties. The pizza anniversary was mine last week.
Kathy, with the sandy soil there, I'm not surprised you see a lot of fairy rings. Nice of DM's neighbor to cut her grass. You're probably right that he mowed over them and that may be good for the lawn and the soil. I don't blame you for swearing off Fox News. Laura Ingraham probably still thinks Covid-19 is still a Democratic hoax. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed. It wouldn't surprise me if Biden would wear a mask onto the stage and then take it off when he gets there. I've seen him do that many times. I'm waiting for the VP debate when Kamala takes Pence to the woodshed.

Liz, one of my schnauzers had that, pill to destroy part of overactive adrenal. but they gave him it too long and finally listened to me when I said he kept vomiting. so he ended up with Addisons and on prednisone the rest of his life. so keep a sharp eye.
I got flu shot over a week ago. That is what they said to do here. it takes two to three weeks to kick in and the official start of respiratory illness season (experts)is when kids go back to school. the little superspreaders give it family who are sick about two weeks later.my high school classes were always decimated by December because teens do not bother with shots although they are recommended forr all school age. they cannot tell flu from COVUD without a test . we get lots of germs from all over as the snow birds and tourists show up.
finally picked up a give year old sewing project. never got last first two fall placemats! worked on hand sewing finishing pot holder binding ...my sewing has deteriorated.

Thanks for the start Chele. My we are a chatty bunch today.LOL.I do like that quote. I saw a post on FB that said even after the virus ends I still want some of you to stay away. That was cute.Never thought of fish flying. Thanks for the anniversary wishes. The stretches made me sore but this morning I was fine but it seems like no matter what form of exercise I do whether it's house walking or the elliptical my IT band tightens up big time.I never knew the IT band was so long.I'm glad the knees and hip or approving but ouch on the PF.
Thanks Kathy. We went out for lunch then made a quick trip to Walmart.I used to like Laura Ingraham but I don't believe anyone should mock anyone for wearing a mask.Sean Hannity who is a Trump die hard has never said anything against masks that I know of.At least while I have been watching him but I don't watch him every night.
Thanks Karen. We decided not to go to Taylor because it looked like it could rain any minute.Scooter didn't want to go out but that was mainly because the wind was up.We went to a cafe in Elgin.Kenneth ordered chicken fried steak and I ordered a grilled pork chop.It was okay but it could have been better.I won't know anything about when my PT will be up until Humana decides not to pay anymore.I have tomorrow scheduled and then I may have some next week or it may just be the final assessment.I doubt we got 1/2" rain over 3 days. It's just parts of Houston.Other parts were at least this morning just having slow steady rain but now it's supposed to go back over Houston and maybe into LA and a couple other states.I have enjoyed the cooler weather although humid.Refunds are good surprises.
Liz Good to see you. Thanks for the anniversary wishes. Our high was 72 today but getting up to 80 tomorrow and low 90's by the weekend. The problem is even with the PT once I get out of there the muscles tighten up again.I hope things turn out good for Zoe.
Linda I heard about the 200,000 dead.Absolutely awful. That is one of the things that will get Trump defeated is making idiotic statements like kids can't get Covid.
Thanks Linda. That was Karen and Dale's anniversary with the pizza.I have like a yoga strap I use for the hamstring stretches.Pretty pot holder.
