Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week?

Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work.

Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening. Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday. ... and the month is already over. ... and the year is almost over. ... and it’s almost Christmas again. ... and already 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed. ... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends, brother / sister, husband / wife. and we realize it's too late to go back... So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time... Let's keep looking for activities that we like... Let's put some color in our grey... Let's smile at the little things in life that make our hearts sing. And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters... I'm doing it after... I'll say it after... I’ll go there after... I'll think about it after... We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours. Because what we don't understand is that: After isn’t promised to any of us. Afterwards, the coffee gets cold... afterwards, priorities change... Afterwards, the charm is broken... afterwards, health passes... Afterwards, the kids grow up... Afterwards parents get old... Afterwards, promises are forgotten... afterwards, the day becomes the night... afterwards, the people that matter the most aren’t there any more... afterwards life ends... And then it's often too late.... So... Let's leave nothing for later... Because while we are waiting for later, we can lose the best moments, the best experiences, the best friends, the best family... The day is today... The moment is now... There’ll never be a better time, so why wait ? We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away. So let's see if you have time to read this message and then share it. Or maybe you'll leave it for... ′′ later "... And you'll never share it....

The nature trail was great, I even drove the golf cart for a bit. Made more progress on the craft room, one wall filled, have a plan for the opposite wall. Did quite a bit of stitching on the new Santa. My sister and her family are heading to Florida for a week on October 9 and will spend the night here- yay! I'm stiff and sore this morning, hopefully it eases as I get moving.
Murphy- Hope your internet is fixed.
Jan- WTG for getting in your steps, sleep, blue dot. I got a call from my replacement yesterday, was able to talk her through the issue she was having. According to the weatherman, the leaves really don't start to change until the second week of November, although I do see the occasional maple or oak leaf that has turned.
GG- Glad you had a great day with the grandkids. Hopefully you were able to work out a plan with the PT on what to do moving forward.
Carole- Glad you had a wonderful time in Florida. Congrats on winning the Fitbit challenges. The muscle and joint pains are a new development since moving. Hopefully I get some answers from the rheumatologist next week.
Cindy- Hugs!
Cathy- WTG AF/OP/170's! Hope your errands went well.

Hi girls. Got my work done on the computer, but it gave me a headache! Too much thinking! Lol I go to a new orthopedic dr on Oct. 1. I figured it was more important to do that than the dentist that I had scheduled. Now I need to reschedule the dentist and get the discs of my xrays and mri. This dr is also into sports medicine. He looks at the whole body. My other ortho was a surgeon. If he didn’t cut, he really didn’t do anything else. I have been dealing with this all year! It’s hard scheduling appointments when I have to look at my work schedule plus the kids school schedule!
I will be in the negative weeklies this week. Not looking forward to the scale tomorrow!
Amy: I can never sleep when I’m on steroids.
Murphy: What’s up with your internet? I’m really enjoying the new First5 study! Are you?
Jan: Sounds like a fun trip!
Cindy: Hope you got a good nights sleep and that you feel better today!
Cathy: Good luck on your outing today! I think you will get a lot of steps in!
Carole: Sounds like a fun trip and that the weather didn’t spoil anything!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry about the abbreviated post yesterday. I have a bad habit of not turning on lights at night when I get up. There are night lights. So got up, feet were arthritically challenged, and I lost my balance. No real damage though slammed brace against door and the wrist/hand are achy, but just (really) miffed at myself. I know I have to make sure my feet will function when I get up and why I didn't is beyond me. DUH!!!
Saw the cardiologist today. Leaky valve remains the same which is good. All good. Full protocol with masks provided by them, temp taken, etc. Back in six months.
Amy, hope the stiffness eased off during the day. If you aren't already doing it, you might want to write down how long you stay stiff in the morning, when it eases off. That is usually asked. YAY for family coming to visit! How fun! Glad you are enjoying the golf cart and the nature trail.
Jan, sounds a fun two days! Hope the cats behave! Enjoy the hiking and DH the climbing!
GG, glad you have an appointment scheduled. My ortho guy is sports medicine as well..he is not big into cutting unless all options have been exhausted. I hope you get some answers!!
Murphy!!! we want you to post!
Carole, sounds like you and Lex were having a great time on the water.
Cathy, if you made it out into the "world" today, I hope you found everything you wanted. WOOT for being in the seventies!!!!
Will resume accountability tomorrow.
Hugs to all, Cindy

The shopping took HOURS yesterday and hubby said he was exhausted. I thought it was as it usually is but for some reason he was much more tired than I was. The scale was up but I expected it...used quite a few of my weeklies yesterday so wasn't surprised when I stepped on the scale. Not sure what we will have for meals today but know I will have beans and since we bought a chicken for my husband and the cat to share he will have that instead of beans for his protein at lunch. My sister said making more frequent but shorter trips out was suggested in an article she read because you are able to go one place, go home and immediately sanitize while if you go many places it is less likely you will sanitize as well as you would with only one stop.
AMY: I wonder if you could have allergies that cause joint pain...you said you didn't have it in Florida so I am wondering if it is living where you do now or do you know you have rheumatism?
JAN: I hope the cats do well while home alone. How long will you be away? Will you have someone come in to feed and check on them?
GG: We mostly drive to the store, hubby often gets out and I stay in the car. Not many steps since the shops are tiny, too. I am glad you have an appointment with an orthopedist that is more than a surgeon and hope he is able to determine what is causing your discomfort.
CINDY: Sorry you fell when you got up at night. Glad your heart is plugging along.
