Happy Fall y'all slept well and very grateful. Again we didn't get to 'sit out' as it was quite cold. It was a beautiful day for walking and today it's supposed to be a tad warmer. We'll take it.
I plan on finishing the ol' closet switcheroo. Will be glad when that task is over with.
We'll get to have the lo pot roast today for sure.
Pam I hope you like the scent. Enjoy your mani/pedi if you end up going. OMG I can't believe someone sat next to you coughing. I'd have left as well,,,.regardless of COVID! How rude! Good luck with your eye exam. I've noticed that the macular degeneration has taken more of my eyesight. I go to my ophthalmologis in January. I don't blame you for wanting your eyes examined again as glasses are $$$. Your supper sounded tasty.
Waving...and will CBL

Hi all,
Cool today but not quite as chilly and the sun is beaming brightly so far. I am meeting a WW friend at a local park at noon to walk for an hour. She is in my regular Tuesday AM WW workshop, and we've both been doing the Zoom meetings every week since COVID. She lost about 30 lbs and is very discouraged because she has gained half back since March. I thought immediately of Pam's quote about if you quit now you will be wishing you were where you are today in six months or something like that! So true. We are going to do a little mini challenge this week. Track and exercise. Having a buddy helps!
Pam, what is wrong with these coughers and half maskers? I don't get it. I saw a guy rip off his mask to sneeze in the grocery store. Good grief. I agree that they are not taking it seriously. They think that it will never happen to them...until it does. I am glad your DH is doing pretty well and that you are taking care of yourself walking, etc. I love Lebanese food and the stuffed squash is one of my faves. Ann, remember how good the El Morocco's was? I loved the old "El" down in the basement area. What a great place. I always felt special when I was there as you never knew who you'd see since all the "stars" made the trip from Boston to eat there when in the area. So hidden and unpretentious and "unfancy" but so good! Today's stars want to be seen - that old group liked to be hidden! :-)
Ann, I thought about the closet stuff today, too. Mainly for me, it is just shoes I have to switch since I use all the available guest room closets for different seasons. LOL My DD's old room has winter stuff and my DS's has summer dresses and such. Mine has things I most wear. But, my sandals need to go back into tubs. Sad. So many were not worn. I swear I wore the same sandals all summer except for sneakers to walk. C'est la vie. The summer that really wasn't.
Sue, how wonderful that the "kids" sold the restaurant. Bittersweet, but good to have new owners. I'm glad they will sell the house, too. That will help them with closure - I know it's a buzz word, but it's true. We all need it when we lose someone we love.
My meals today - scrambled eggs and an English muffin, salad with a bit of chicken salad on top and leftover stuffed cabbage for dinner (the stuffed cabbage came out great!).
Off to the drawing board, again! I'll BBL.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Tuesday! We just got back from the doctor's office. He wasn't completely pleased with the results of the Echo, but smiled at me and said very encouraging words and I believe him. DH's aortic valve is okay (the prosthetic one) but when I heard him mention "leaky valve" I froze, then asked which one, and he said "mitral". They can put a clip on that one and it is non-invasive. That was good news. He started him on Entresto for heart failure, but I am waiting to see what our cost will be. The office gave us samples for the first few weeks, and then we'll see what our insurance covers?? So DH is signed up for some more lab work and then a stress test and then the TEE (transesophageal 'something'). I feel like someone beat me up but I had expected unwelcome news and also anticipated the Dr.'s encouragement and assurance.
Otherwise my day has been uneventful. DH cooked us breakfast before we went to the doctor and it was lunch time when we got home. I don't have much appetite, so may wait a while before eating. Breakfast was scrambled EG/SW EB with LF cheese, a slice of Dave's toast and a fresh fruit bowl. That should hold me for a while, I would think.
I am going to go for a walk and see if I can expend some of this energy. I'll BBL.

Good morning!
Good news from HH nurse this morning! She said the wound looked better than last week and was not concerned about the spot that had me worried. DH feels that the Darko shoe he has to wear to walk was rubbing that area, so we have been putting a thick layer of 4x4 gauze pads over it and that seems to help. Also, it could be the new ointment has had a chance to work. Whatever the reason, I am much more optimistic about Friday's wound care appt.
Because the HH nurse was later than expected, I was a few minutes late for my eye appt. but they saw me anyway. I was honest with them and explained I had seen someone else but was not satisfied that my prescription was correct and apparently it wasn't. Even with my eyes still dilated, I can tell a difference. I came home and ordered a supply of contacts with the new prescription and will plan to get eyeglasses ordered next Tuesday when DD2 is DH's driver, if not sooner. I may just opt to drive to BTR early and be there when the vision center opens, so I can be back in time to drive DH. Then I will have to go back the next day to pick them up. Or, I may see if one of his friends can drive him one day and then I can just wait for them to be ready.
DH and DD left early so they could have lunch together, which is good for both of them. I am about to go into super-fast floor-cleaning mode while they are gone, then have some lunch. We invited DD to stay for dinner, but left it up to her to decide later. She is also on WW and said she would wait to see how much she eats at lunch.
Sue - It sounds like DH's appt. went pretty well, even though more treatment may be necessary. I hope it put your mind somewhat at ease that the problem is fixable. If the Entresto is very expensive there are usually options for manufacturer rebates, etc. or the doctor can prescribe something similar. Google "prescription assistance" for ideas.
Judy - "If I give up now, I'll soon be back where I started and where I started was desperately wishing I could be where I am today" has kept me focused for nearly 9 years, through all sorts of ups and downs. I'm glad you found a walking partner, as I feel it helps. I walk farther and faster when Debbie and I walk together.
Ann - I am not quite ready to do the closet swap as we are just as likely to be back in the 90's in a few days as to continue these cooler temps. Sometimes I wait until November, only moving out the very summery tops. I generally just move them to a closet in one of the empty bedrooms, so they are easily accessed if it gets too warm out.
Time to get off my duff and get these floors done. BBL!

Hey again Sue, no wonder you feel stressed. These health issues are scary for all of us, but sounds like your DH has a very good doctor and like Pam said, maybe you can get a substitute for Entresto if it is too expensive. Hope you enjoyed your walk. It does help, doesn't it? That and music and prayers! Pam, I'm glad your DH's appointment was more upbeat and that the wound is looking better. You are a terrific caregiver and nurse. He's a lucky guy to have you. Glad he has time with your DD. Thanks, too, for that great quote. I am going to put it on my fridge. It's a great one. My walk with a buddy fizzled out. She showed up and rolled her window down and told me she had just thrown up...poor thing. I told her to go home and rest. She'd just come from a mammogram and felt fine. Maybe she ate something bad - who knows since she hasn't been anywhere. She went home to rest and I walked one loop for 25 minutes on my own and headed home. I do feel a little more energetic for moving my sorry butt around. :-) Ann, what types of scent burner do you use again? I have a Yankee one - it takes little gel tubs and it plugs in. Much stronger than candles and now I am burning the Pumpkin Spice one which I really love. I also love lemon and pine scents, too. LIke minds...another one I love is peppermint as it seems to really freshen the air. I use that in the oil diffuser in my living room. My Kindle is not working well and I can't get it to charge. I am going to contact Amazon since it is not that old. It's a white paper version and I am lost without it. I have tried a couple chargers in case it was the charger...no luck. The light comes on but it is not charging. Have a good afternoon. I am compiling info to go after that attorney. I have received good advice from my cousin and his friend - attorneys at a very large reputable Boston firm. They say this is clear malpractice. I've notified the state law board, too. If nothing else, it makes me feel I am doing something to mitigate this awful situation.

Hi girls...just finishing up the laundry. I have one drying and one washing and stuff hung all over the house LOL. Little by little it's getting done. I switched the quilt and drapes in the bedroom and changed the shower curtain and towels etc. and different toppers in the kitchen and it looks nice if I do say so myself. Tonight I KNOW I'll have no problem sleeping. I have one last load washing and one drying. When that's all done, so am I Happy that tonight's meal will be the lo pot roast as I am not in the mood to cook or think about a meal LOL. Carl is outside dealing with more brush in the yard. He will also be tired when he finally comes through the door. If I get my 'second wind' I'll walk with him and LuLa...if not, I'll catch the great outdoors tomorrow. Judy you are fortunate to not have to to the ol' switcheroo. When we had our home in Worcester we also had ample closet space, so all we had to do was transfer from one to the other. Here...no way! But that's okay. I had Alexa and music to keep me amused. So sorry that the walk with your friend fizzled out. It's nice to have a walking buddy like that. I hope she gets over her ailment. Pretty scary with the virus and all. I am so happy that you contacted the state law board and are going through with it. That attorney should NOT be allowed to practice. I hope Amazon sends you a new Kindle Paper White. Same thing happened to my friend. Mine has been going strong (fingers crossed) and like you I would be SO LOST without it! Pam I can't tell you how happy I am that you got great news from HH nurse this morning. I bet your DH is thrilled as well. Now you can relax a bit. Hopefully one of DH's friends can drive so that you don't have to make another trip. Good luck with your eye appointment. Sue you are so fortunate to have such a caring doctor that you and DH trust. Puts your mind at rest. Not all of them are created equal as you well know. I pray that the Rx isn't too costly. Some meds are sky high. I too would ask about a generic if you need to go that route. I am going to see about the clothes in the dryer...... I'm tired!

Hi All ~
I am back from a walk in the 70 dg sunny weather. The exercise helped a lot, but so did talking to DH on the way home. I told him about the $$ of the Rx and he said, oh well, we'll find out something else. What a trooper!! At least that heavy dark cloud is no longer resting on my head. Before I left, the pharmacy called me because of the exorbitant price of the Rx and they wanted to let me know before they filled it and delivered it - thank goodness!! Ah, no .....
Ann ~ I had to LOL about walking up and down the aisles of the grocery store to see what is there - because I do the same thing. Once in a while when I'm in a hurry I will just grab what I need and go, but since the stay-at-home I am seldom in a hurry <LOL> And I DO find some amazing things when I take the time to look around. Hope you got your appointment for your mani/pedi. I was able to get an appointment for a haircut on Thursday (after my lunch out).
Judy ~ I have to agree with "what's wrong with these coughers?" and the half-maskers! That is my current pet peeve and I seem to be seeing more and more of it. I have begun taking a mask with me when I walk outdoors, because sometimes I pass someone else walking and though I usually step out in the street to be out of their way, I would prefer to be masked. The kids sound happy about the sale of the restaurant. They were feeling badly about the displaced staff (many of whom had been there for years) but the new owner said he would hire back the ones who want to come. So the kids feel much better about that. I also feel like I didn't wear hardly any of my whole wardrobe of cute summer sandals - but then I seldom went anywhere. I wore flip-flops around home and NB walking shoes for walking - and once in a while I put on a cute pair of slip-ons. {{sigh}} "So many shoes, so little time" <LOL> GFY for going after that bad attorney. If anyone every needed a good and smart and honest attorney, it is your DD. That woman needs to be absolutely taken to task!!
Pam ~Thanks for the encouragement about DH. His cardiologist is absolutely fantastic! and has amazed us more than once with his knowledge and his expertise. Today when he was 'thinking out loud' he reminded me that there are a lot of options, and we will just try them until we find ones that work. I was very close to the "wizard" of a doctor who trained him so I am not surprised, but I am reassured. Congrats on the good report on your DH's foot wound. I have to agree that he is very lucky to have you!! Also kudos for getting a second opinion on your vision - that is important!! Hope you enjoy your dinner, and that your DD can stay and visit.
The rest of my week looks pretty quiet. We have some promising good weather which is great. DH is really enjoying the fire pit. I took a picture of him with it the other day and texted it to both of the boys (reminding them of their dad's fire pit). I am free all day tomorrow so may grocery shop and pick up the ingredients for some cooking projects. We have a promised cool-down next weekend, so I may plan on making WW Chili in the big slow cooker. I just got my Amazon delivery and it is a set of five telescoping hot dog/marshmallow forks that store in their own little cloth bag. We will enjoy them this weekend.
I drank a Premier Protein drink for a late lunch, and we will have leftover pork chops for supper. I am having the few fingerling potatoes that are left and will warm up the mac 'n cheese for DH. We also have peas & carrots and NSA applesauce. My snack tonight will be a Light 'N Fit strawberry cheesecake yogurt with a graham cracker.
BBL. Make a great rest of the day!

Hi,
Sue, I am still chuckling about five telescoping marshmallow forks - you are so descriptive and I love that sound of those! Glad you have other options for your new drugs for DH. I have one pill that was supposed to be $400 a month - gulp - but for some reason because I had already tried all the options available and none worked, I receive it for $15 for three months now! You never know.
I had some good "money" luck today - for a change! Small potatoes, but I talked to Amazon and at first I was upset because my new Paperwhite (which has been determined to be beyond repair by the rep online) had a warranty that ran out...last week!! They offered me a new one with a 15% discount. I turned it down and asked to talk to another rep who gave me the full purchase price of $129.99 of the original plus a gift card for $40 which represented the jump up in price for the newer model. Now I am getting a freebie! So, there is some justice. After all I told them, this is my 5th Kindle as I go way back with them. I hung up so appreciative and it made my day.
My little walk energized me. I just picked up D&D at the groomers where both look and smell wonderful now. Daisy came home sporting a Halloween bow - orange with little black bats. LOL She looks adorable. While walking I saw another favorite breed of mine - two cute Japanese Chens. I love them. They remind me of a smaller version of my own dogs. Both really friendly breeds with cute little teddy bear faces and big eyes.
Off to do a bit of work. Thanks for the encouragement for going after that crooked lawyer. One firm I spoke to said it was not a big enough case for them to take but they were a huge multi-million dollar + malpractice firm-mainly corporate. I will find someone. She can't get away with this. At the very least, it will cause her tons of time and great aggravation and embarrassment by the board if nothing else. She was very full of herself and this may knock her down a peg. I think she realizes she was hasty. She became overly polite in the last email returning a puny amount of the retainer. Ugh. I feel terrible about the whole thing. It sickens me to lose so much and get nothing for it. But I am trying to put it in my rearview and not let it poison us.

P.S. Ann, you and Sue are both like Martha Stewart! I never change out that stuff except for a lightweight quilt. Maybe I will in a new home! I am sort of blind to shower curtains, etc. as long as they are clean. But you might be raising me to a new awareness. LOL
Oh I used my WW points to shop again. This time I bought a set of glass straws - very sturdy for my new pretty Swig drinking cup that DDIL gave me. They are pretty blue straws and the cup is a nice coppery blue pattern. IT keeps my water cold a very long time. I like it because it has a handle.

I am officially one and done Just hung up the last of the laundry I pulled out of the dryer. At another time I shall try things on...what works goes back and what doesn't gets donated. While Carl was out, I went through HIS stuff and found a few jerseys that have seen better days. LOL....those went OUT....and nope he will never miss them I'm a cagey kinda gal! I still haven't heard from Gladys but then again I know that it takes her time to get back to me. I'm in no hurry.... LOL Judy...nope I'm a far cry from Martha Stewart. Sue is more like her than I am...trust me. My mom, on the other hand, used to change curtains and drapes all the time! I didn't inherit that gene from her. Holy cow to the $400.00 a month script. Who could afford that? Sheesh. So happy to hear that you got good results from Amazon. I've never had a problem with them. Now you'll be all set with your spiffy new Paperwhite. I love mine. I bet your fur kids look adorable and smell sweet and fresh. Just love that. People that are full of themselves truly NEED to be knocked down a peg or two. I hope this causes her lots and lots of pain and suffering. She deserves it. Like my mom used to say you reap what you sew. I've seen those glass straws and I hope you enjoy using them. Yeah to a mug that keeps the water nice and cold. Mine do as well. A walk really does energize you. I am tired, but I know that I'll bite the bullet and go for a hood walk later on. Sue yeah to the walk and the fact that DH has decided against the pills. I know what financial stuff is like. Nice that he relieved you of that worry. He's a keeper. LOL so you are another aisle walker I love walking up and down for two reasons...getting in my steps plus I always seem to 'see' something that sounds interesting. I also love the end caps It's all those little things that brighten up my day. Luckily in Hannaford's I've yet to see a half masked person or anyone going up the down staircase. At least when we are there people follow instructions which is great. Last time I went to Market Basket that was not the case. People were chatting and blocking an aisle and refused to move. I had to back up going the wrong way. I said 'excuse me' several times and all I got was the stink eye stare! I complained to the manager and I could tell that it fell on deaf ears. I won't be going back there. I'm adding myself to the little fork lover story. That put a smile on my face. I am now going to sit and relax..feet up.... Waving...and will catch up with y'all tomorrow.

I did end up taking that hood walk with Carl and LuLa. Luckily we didn't see any 'critters' roaming around LOL. Will pop an ibuprofen to ward off any aches or pains that may creep on into these old joints.
Sweet dreams....

Judy - Good for you going after the shyster lawyer! Not only did she take advantage of a client, but she did it to someone who was already hurting, vulnerable and desperate for a way to support her children. How low can you get?!?!
It sounds like everyone got a walk in today but me. I did get all the floors vacuumed and all but the spare bedrooms mopped. I am so relieved to have that done. DD and I took flowers to the cemetery. She likes to do that with me and visit the family graves. We also stopped by Dee's house. She had made a huge pot of gumbo and wanted to share with me. She was so happy to see DD2, who was a childhood playmate to her own DD.
I cooked an early dinner of chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and corn. I tried to make just enough, but had enough for another small meal. I think we were all still full from lunch, but we wanted an early dinner so DD could drive home in daylight. It was nice to visit with her and she helped me pick out a style of glass frames that we both think will look good on me, even though I mostly only wear glasses at night after I take out my contacts.
DH has gone to bed and I am going to read a bit before turning in. Today was a good day for me. It's amazing what a break in the daily trek to hyperbaric does for me. I told DH I wish there was a way to give him a break, too, but he will just have to survive on Saturdays and Sundays off. Night!
