Marlo does your health insurance have silver sneakers? If it does Planet Fitness accepts it and you pay nothing plus they give you their top membership level. We havenāt been back since it re-opened but our doctor goes there and said we should get back because itās very safe.
When Fred got home from golf yesterday he just didnāt look right so I asked if he was okay and he said no as Iām having real bad stomach cramps. I told him to go lay down but he sat there for a while until he finally took my advice and slept for about three hours and then felt fine. He thinks it might have been dehydration from sitting in the jury room Monday for four hours and there was nothing to drink. Or it could have been the water on the golf course as he said itās normally cold but this time it was lukewarm. But he isnāt golfing today which is normal as he doesnāt golf two days in a row anymore as it tires him out too much.
We have to get groceries today as well. I think Debbie might stop by later as she said she will be in town to meet up with some friends for dinner. I think thatās nice that with her and Jim they do a lot together but she has no problem with him having time with just his friends and vice versa. That was always an issue with Jeff as he resented her spending time with friends as he only had one friend and felt Debbie needed to cut ties with hers. I was surprised when everything came to a head to hear how he manipulated her since she has a masters in counseling but she said it made her realize you donāt always see it when you are living it.
Going to be a little warmer today but still very comfortable and then only in the 60ās next week.

Greetings: I didn't realize I didn't actually post yesterday. I wrote a short (for me) post and this morning there it was. I tried to copy it but managed to just delete it.
DDIL went to TJs yesterday. They had canned pumpkin and the squash so yesterday I made a pumpkin shake. Since I'm using the single serve container there's not a lot of room, but things got mixed nicely. I've got a tub of really old dates in the fridge. With these shakes I'm starting to use them up. They are not nice and soft, so there are still little date bits that survive the blades. It was good. Thick. So, I think I'll put in another ice cube. No sugar or substitute and quite sweet enough. the dates did their job.
I did get a walk yesterday since the smoke was lighter. By the end of the day it was back, though.
We have had so many political ads. Yesterday on the local news they had a story about how our senate seat is one of the contested ones. Reps want to keep it and Dems want it back. Right before dinner there was a series of ads. One side gave blatantly inaccurate information and right after that was over, the other side's ad came on reminding us all that we'd just heard a pack of lies. Oh, my. I hadn't paid enough attention to realize the heated contest here. It's getting worse. Going to be a long time til the election! That's enough on the political front.
Autumn is my favorite time of year. The weather is beautiful, the trees are turning, I just love this. With no snow.
Jane, any news on your son's job situation?
Today I'll do the drive by and pick up books. I'm on the second half of 800 words. DH isn't a fan of this show so I watch it myself. Today I'll get our week's mystery which is Wait Until Dark. We wound up not having book club after all. We are 12 and 7 couldn't come because of conflicts. So, reschedule for next week.
Yes, that is so right. When you're in the middle of something it's nearly impossible to see it objectively.

Good morning friends.
Jane I was sorry to hear about your familyās loss.
Karen thatās funny about you deleting instead of copying the post. That is something that happens to me. And I use dates to sweeten many things. I prefer medjool dates. Yes way too many political ads in Florida too. Itās tiring being a swing state. So much money being spent on ads when most everyone knows how theyāre going to vote anyway.
Sandy Iām sorry Fred is under the weather. Rest is the best thing. We got our flu shots yesterday. I feel like at one point in my sleep I had chills and maybe a temperature but just slept through it. Maybe I dreamt it. Iām fine this morning.

Good morning all. We're starting out cool in the mid 50s this morning but we'll hit the mid 70s by this afternoon. Our leaves haven't started turning yet but I really don't think we'll have pretty colors this year. It's been way too dry. I have an appt later this afternoon for my yearly mammogram. I usually get one at my clinic but they're updating their lab so I'll be getting it this year at the hospital. I also need to make a list for Costco and Trader Joe's. I'm heading there tomorrow and don't want to forget anything. It's been awhile since I've been to either store. Ruth, I was planning on stopping for lunch tomorrow at Panera since I have a gift card but since you mentioned First Watch Pumpkin pancakes, I've almost changed my mind. Panera is at one end of the strip mall where TJ's is located and First Watch is at the other end. Decisions, decisions......................
Jane, condolences on the passing of your cousin Herb. Life sure is hard sometimes.

Good morning. Wednesday is the day for evening mass and rosary so I am finishing breakfast in my robe, have been showered and hair washed. Four dogs are being fed in different rooms, kind of a juggling act for me.
Jane so sorry about your cousin. I know its upsetting to lose someone. I'm the oldest cousin on my mother's side of the family and on the younger side on my father's side. Some of my cousins on my father's side were the same age as my parents as he was the youngest of 13.
Gray and misty today. The beginning of Beta rain which will last for two or three days. Lunch with besties today. Linda did well after her surgery and I talked with her for about 30 minutes this morning. I'll go up Thursday or Friday to see her again. Going to pick up squash for her as Aldi's as they have all winter squash on sale and she doesn't have that store near her.
Enjoy the beginning of fall.

QOTD: fall has arrived without much fanfare. What are some favorite fall foods you are looking forward to?
AOTD: for us itās apple anything. I just wish I could get some good ones. Weāll probably have baked apples soon.

Good morning
Yes sad thinking of Herb. Both his parents, wife and brother had died . Jeff just called me to say he ordered flowers for me too. Really no one to take any home except my cousin Donna. Donna just deals with all the family issues including her husband who has asked her twice if they are in Ohio or Florida. I doubt they will come to Florida this winter. Getting old and being alone is scary. Herb was the ring bearer in my wedding and we were the two redheads who took after our granddad . I was the oldest of the cousins and he was the youngest until his little brother was born and Greg died before any of us..the youngest. I am going to keep busy today but that doesnāt keep away memories of a little red headed boy who stopped halfway down the aisle to ask was he doing it right.

A bit late this morning.
Geri: Interesting that Wednesday is evening Mass and Rosary for you. Wednesday for us if School Children's Mass; therefore hubs and I stayed home and attended Mass on TV. With his Cancer we simply don't take unnecessary chances.
Geri: Totally understand the feeling of being last one left in the family. I felt that way after losing my sister, younger sister and only sibling.
After Mass did some never-ending yardwork, then hung a load of laundry. Yes, I still hang laundry, don't even own a dryer any longer. Last dryer I had gave to my daughter when she lost all her appliances in a hurricane and I realized I hadn't used my dryer in over a year.
Right now I'm sitting at Regal over the stupid engine light AGAIN! I hate coming here because every time they try to sell me a new car. I wish I could get a new car but with Jerry's Cancer treatment there simply is no money for a new car.
Oh yes, I did talk to grandson's school this morning. After stopping in the office yesterday afternnon and being treated like I was stupid. I called the guidance counselor this morning. She was very understanding and totally understood my concern. She pulled up John's record which shows no absence but waa going to double check on why we got the call. She's assuming a wrong number was dialed. Anyway she's double checking and we'll get in touch with me this afternoon. I feel much better knowing someone at the school is actually checking into the issue.
Hope everyone 's day is going well!

I hope Fred is ok, Sandy. And how lovely that Debbie might stop by. It is amazing what we sometimes allow to happen in our relationships. I consider myself a strong woman, but if I tell a friend now about what I acquiesced to in some relationships, they do a double take. I immediately thought about when my first husband and I were married. We lived in a basement studio and it was a particularly hot summer in Boston so we got a window air conditioner. I was cooking dinner in the kitchen, a tiny room without a fan or window. My ex told me to shut the door because the heat was flowing into the main room. I did. What??? It must have been close to 100 degrees. So glad Debbie has such a healthy relationship now.
OMG, I remember being terrified by WAIT UNTIL DARK, Karen. It is going to seem like a very long time until Election Day. I also enjoy fall. Walking in the fall is a delight. So much to see and so comfortable outside. Yesterday I passed 4 egrets in a pond. I just hate what follows.
Love that new, colorful avatar, Sharon! I felt a bit out of sorts after my flu shot too, but it did not last long.
Vicki, I wonder about the colors this year too. It has not been terribly dry here but drier than usual. We shall see.
I don't know how you do it with four dogs, Geri. With so much else in your life as well.
AOTD: Pumpkin anything, roasted root veggies, Thanksgiving dinner (if we have it this year).
So sorry about your loss, Jane. I have lost one of two cousins on my mom's side and 2 of 6 on my father's side. Those good memories help me through. Thinking of you.
Pat, those issues you are dealing with are so annoying! Good luck with the car. I used to love hanging my laundry out to dry. Until one winter when a frozen sheet hit me in the face. Nothing like that fresh smell.
I am meeting a friend for an early dinner at a good restaurant. She has been a friend since before I met Mort, the one at whose pool I swam a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to that.
I'll BBL. Enjoy your Wednesday, friends.

I canāt remember if I posted about DB. I was able to talk to him yesterday. He sounded frail and was discouraged he had trouble walking (with pt). He didnāt get around very good before the fire. He used either a cane or a walker. Heād had 4 back surgeries. I told him I prayed fo him every day and I have others praying for him too. He seems pleased. He told me he loved me. I always tell him that but he doesnāt always. Also my oldest DS will be 90 next month. Sheās evidently not well as her DH always says sheās sleeping when called. My grandmother did that at that age and one day just didnāt wake up. Iām assuming DS has congestive heart failure but they are so private we donāt really know. Iāve also wondered if she has dementia because her last few letters were odd and jumbled. She forgot my birthday this year.
On a happier note I got a haircut today. Connie, my old hairdresser, came to the house and cut my hair on the back patio. Then she proceeded down the street to cut otherās hair. I donāt know why I didnāt call her sooner because she didnāt feel it was a problem. I paid her well.

Lovely day here, temps in 70ās and filtered sun. It is very humid as one bad thing plus no breeze. I opted to work in yard this morning instead of a walk as had over 13000 steps yesterday. Plus I should start on fall cleanup. I worked out there for an hour. Will go out again in a bit. Gotta rest the back. Hubby says he is going to mow but hasnāt yet.
Jane so sorry to hear the loss of you little red headed cousin. Sweet memory you mentioned of Herb. Hang on to those memories.
QOTD: fall has arrived without much fanfare. What are some favorite fall foods you are looking forward to?
Fall arrived with some fan fair. Several people in this area was discussing events they wish to attend, leaves changing some color, cool morning and eveningās. Pumpkin and apple recipes flooding their minds. I do not do a lot of recipes as I am the one that would pig out if those things are in the house. Sort of like Gail just best not to have them.
At our TOPS Club meeting we do little things hoping to create encouragement. One thing as when we first join this club we are asked to make a list of 10 things that hopefully encourage us/me to lose weight. I used foods to avoid as my ten things. Others could list anything of their choice. Then each week the one with the biggest loss will choose a number and issue us a little challenge for the next week. The following week when we go back if we have not done the number or challenge we put a little money in a Naughty Can. The leader draws a name each week and if you have gained or are absent you do not receive the money in can. One has to loose or stay the same. No one had won the money for a few weeks. Last night she drew my name, I had that .08# loss so I won $31.40. Happy camper. Those meetings are one normal thing in my life. No WW in person meetings yet in our area.
Received word from a long time friend in California this morning that she lost her second husband to cancer on Saturday. As I read it they have only known of his cancer for a very few weeks. Her first husband also passed from cancer. Guess I should correct by saying she divorced her 1st husband, the last two with cancer. She is originally from Iowa so think she is feeling very alone but one son does live in California. Life just sucks at times. Prayers go all those struggling today for what ever reason.
Hoping Fred is feeling better. Good to hear your daughter is progressing nicely Geri. Pat, I understand your frustration with car as well as school. This is an unprecedented year with schools every where. I hear the parents in this area deal with frustration of not knowing a normal daily-weekly happenings in our school systems. Do think they are working hard here to keep everyone safe if possible so feel that takes a tole on other routines. Will this ever end, surely hoping so. Noticed yesterday the grocery stores (basically only place I go) have relaxed some of their earlier procedures, no markings on floors, no one standing at entry door monitoring people. I still wear my mask not that I like it.
Now for some cabbage soup then back outside. Have a great one.

Late post for me today. Starting to catch up with yesterday's posts. Don't know how I got so far behind. Mike is taking his granddaughter, Ireland to softball practice and taking her out to dinner. He asked me if I wanted to go. I have so much to do here and I think it is important for him to have a little one on one time with her. He has barely seen her this past 6 months. Vicki, Glad that Jerry will be getting a MRI Monday to get to the bottom of his UTIs. I need to find a new hairdresser. Just when I found one I liked she moved too far away. May see about going to one of the less expensive places. Geri, Thanks for the soup recipe. It is a little too warm for a winter soup right now, but by the end of October it will be sounding even better, as that is when it usually starts getting cold here. Though many of you would find my idea of cold laughable Pat, I hope the car dealership got your car issues figured out. How frustrating! Gail, Thanks for those lovely quotes and for sharing a part of your DGS's letter. Karen, I am so over the political ads. I am barely watching TV and only watching the weather on the news. I hate to bury my head in the sand, but my sanity depends on it. I will pick up the political news again a few weeks before the election. Jane, I am so sorry for your loss of your dear cousin, Herb. Carolyn, That is an adorable Halloween photo of your grandkids!

Marlo, Thanks for the heads up on Lisa Jewell's WATCHING YOU. I just borrowed the ebook from the library. Her book AND THEN SHE WAS GONE was our book club read a couple of months ago. It was really good!
Karen, You can bring dried out dates back to life by soaking them. Once they are soft just drain them. It is a good idea to soak dates before putting them in the blender. Plus it releases more of the sweet flavor.
