Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

BUILD A WALL OF RESOLVE, BRICK BY BRICK NEW CHALLENGE September 6 through October 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week?

Hope everyone had a lovely first day of fall. It felt chilly in the house yesterday and I used that as an excuse to veg on the couch most of the day. Finally worked on the craft room a bit and of course that warmed me up. Planning on going for a haircut today and to Walmart to look at some shelving I saw online. The craft room is above the garage and has slanted ceilings on both sides, so full size shelving won't fit. Also cutting back on the steroid (as instructed) today, going from twice a day to once a day. Fingers crossed the pain doesn't get worse.
Jan- Sounds like you've had a couple of good days. Have fun at Devil's Lake.
GG- WTG getting your new work done on the computer. GL with the new ortho.
Cindy- Sorry you lost your balance. Glad things are status quo with the cardiologist and the leaky valve. Thanks for the tip about the stiffness. It's sort of a gradual improvement as the day goes on, I'll have to pay more attention.
Cathy- Sorry DH became so fatigued on the errands. I don't have respiratory symptoms of an allergy, although ragweed is supposed to be bad right now.

Good morning all! Sorry for the silence. I've just been so down the last few days. More people at church with positive Covid tests and it's just kind of overwhelming. I long for a sense of normal again. Just don't know when that will happen. Our choir director has tested positive and he decided that we won't rehearse tonight and won't sing in the choir loft on Sunday. I'm actually thankful for that!
Amy - good luck finding shelving for the craft room.
Jan - enjoy your time at Devil's Lake!
GG - I'm glad you have the appointment scheduled with the ortho.
Cindy - so sorry about you losing your balance! I'm glad it wasn't worse!
Cathy - sorry that DH was so tired after his errands. How old is he?
Carole - so glad you had a good trip to Florida. I don't expect that I'll be going to the beach until my trip next year.
Nothing else going on here. Just trying to be safe! Hope everyone has a good day! Murphy

Practice tolerance.
Tolerate our quirks, our feelings, our reactions, our peculiarities, our humanness. Tolerate our ups and downs, our resistance to change, our struggling and sometimes awkward nature.
Tolerate our fears, our mistakes, our natural tendency to duck from problems and pain. Tolerate our hesitancy to get close, expose ourselves, be vulnerable.
Tolerate our need to occasionally feel superior, to sometimes feel ashamed, and to occasionally share love as an equal. Tolerate the way we progress—a few steps forward, and a couple back.
Tolerate our instinctive desire to control and how we reluctantly learn to practice detachment. Tolerate the way we say we want love, and then sometimes push others away. Tolerate our tendency to get obsessive, forget to trust God, and occasionally get stuck.
Some things we do not tolerate. Do not tolerate abusive or destructive behaviors toward others or ourselves.
Practice healthy, loving tolerance of ourselves, said one man. When we do, we’ll learn tolerance for others. Then, take it one step further. Learn that all the humanness we’re tolerating is what makes ourselves and others beautiful.
Today, I will be tolerant of myself. From that, I will learn appropriate tolerance of others.

I couldn’t believe it! I was down 1.2!!! I even went back downstairs to weigh again just to be sure! So what is different? I’m using every stinking one of my weeklies! I tried to vary my days. Some high in points, and some low. I’m still doing the intermittent fasting and not eating until 11 or 12. And I’ve been on the Provitalize 2 weeks. Whatever, I’ll take it!!
Amy: Thank you for the beautiful flowers today!!
Murphy: I’m so glad you checked in!! And I’m so sorry about your choir director and the increase in cases! We still aren’t singing in our church, hymns or anything else. Even if the choir does decide to sing again, that doesn’t mean you have to!
Cindy: Jeff gets mad at me for not turning on the lights, especially on the stairs. I’m glad you weren’t hurt worse!
Cathy: I guess I was thinking you would go park and walk all over! It makes sense to just go a few places, I guess. But I would want to get it all over with. That will be me tomorrow. I have a bunch of places to stop.
I was up with the kids today. It was great. I enjoy it and I know I am helping. Today Jack had to watch a video about Native Americans, then and now. It was so good, he watched it a second time with Addi! Afterwards they went outside and were trying to make a wigwam and a basket using sticks. I was so proud of them!

ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
Fresh Start Monday! YES! What is your accountability for the week? Better effort will create success. All true but need to make that better effort!
Move More Accountability Gotta keep on trying Need to stop thinking and start doing!
Sleep Accountability Odd dreams. Ainsley is letting me sleep and I have to wonder why.
Nutrition Accountability AF. Made copycat Zuppa Toscana...very tasty...did not calculate points. Eating more "fat"...since DS started bringing home food when he didn't want to cook, my finger nails are stronger...thinking it must be the fat. Not a lot, but more than I normally have.
Happiness Accountability Good day! Not much accomplished but no issues
Habit Accountability I think my only habit is waking up every day. STILL working on it!
Check In Daily Accountability HERE! This is helping even if I'm not being very accountable! Still true!
Amy, I meant to say that I copied yesterday's post as well and sent it to a few friends/relatives. Happy Wednesday flowers are beautiful too! You might also be asked if you feel any warmth/redness in any joints. Love slanted roof for the craft room. Just seems to make it more cozy. Is it finished? Hope the pain did not return, and if it did, at a minimum. Hugs!
Murphy, I am so sorry you are down. I know things are so shut down that it is hard to interact with life and get out of your own way, if that makes sense. Maybe you and your college friends could do zoom meetings? I'm just not sure what is available or what places are open. Hugs!
Jan, hope you are having a wonderful time and getting great steps in and just enjoying life!
GG, woot for being down. I was happy to discover I haven't gained back the three pounds when weighed yesterday. Mini victories! Whatever works, continue! The night lights are left over from DH's need for them. I guess I am part bat or cat cause I've always worked around in the dark. Sounds like a wonderful teaching day with the kids. I remember an "Oregon Trail" lesson plan (might be online) that might be enjoyable for Jack. Maybe Grandpa could help make tools and survival tricks.
Cathy, that is a good point about sanitizing between stops. I keep sanitizing solution in my car and do wipe down stuff but now will be more conscious of it. Need to make it second nature. I try to force myself out at least once a week just to be "out there"...very easy to hibernate. Was it really hot yesterday while shopping?
Hi Carole!
DS has a couple of interviews in the next two days, fingers crossed. Good thoughts are welcomed. One pre interview question is "have you , family member, or partner given money to any political campaign in the last two years?" I can see the reasoning but is that legal to ask? I'm very much out of the loop.
Going out to lunch with a friend tomorrow. Haven't seen her in about two months. Going to a restaurant that does more take out than dine in. We've been there several times and can just take a corner booth and stay isolated. They don't mind us just hanging out.
Hugs to all, Cindy

AF/OP/scale stuck again just above the 70's decade...it will move again/no exercise...maybe today
The weather is finally a bit cooler and we are enjoying it. I made zucchini boats for part of lunch with a bit of rice and some cheese for filling. We have some as leftovers for lunch today and I need to cook the spinach...probably with onions and bulgur though I saw and interesting recipe that also had chickpeas and garlic.
AMY: I wonder if going to half a tablet of the steroid twice a day then less would make the transition easier than once a day full strength. I hope you found shelving for the craft room.
MURPHY: My husband is 82 but thinks he is still in his twenties. I am seeing that though he spends hours in the garden watering he does tire more easily. He would never admit it, though. I am thirteen years and a few months younger than he is... I am sorry that more people at church are coming down with covid-19. I know people want to gather for church and believe they are being safe but covid-19 is a nasty persistent naughty virus that seems intent on taking people down when and if given the opportunity to do so. Stay safe!
GG: I think in the future, if we are going to accomplish many errands, I might push to leave at 8:30 instead of 10:30...it might be wiser and less tiring? If not...more short trips instead of one long one, maybe? I am thrilled you are down on the scale! I know why I did not stay in the 70's but also know having seen it I will see it again soon by sticking to the plan as written. If I lived in Alabama near my son I would offer to homeschool my granddaughters. I don't live there, though, so will just wish it were so.
JAN: Glad you were able to get away, the cats were okay and that they had left the house in one piece while you were gone.
CINDY: It was warm yesterday but not as hot as some days. As mentioned above, I think an earlier start so we get home before noon would be wiser than leaving for many errands at 10:30...get home hungry and tired and such. We have hand sanitizer in the car but still, think going out to one or two places might be easier in the future...or leaving earlier to get home earlier. Hope your DS finds the perfect job...or the employers see him as the perfect employee. If the application form asked about donating to a campaign perhaps they are a business with a motto/vision statement t hat is not partisan...or perhaps IS? Have fun at lunch!
