Good morning all,
Sunny and 60; the high will be 80. That's more like it! I don't know where those cooler days came from.
Guess I never posted yesterday. A lot on my mind!
Today is a nothing to do day! I've been busy doing things outside of the house. So I'll read and sit on my balcony.
Hope Penny is having a great day at the shelter.
Have a great day and be safe!

Good morning everyone
Slept 9 hours last night. Felt good.
This morning we drop of hubby’s car for oil change. Have a pick up at Home Depot. Also hope to go to the bank and do a deposit.
Going to be a high of 91. Has 77% humidity right now. Sky is blue and sun is shining. Not seeing any smoke. The fire is still awful but it moved more away from our house.
We are picking up a 20” high velocity fan for patio. It’s not the swamp cooler. Hoping setting it on patio blowing from one end to the other will keep mosquitoes off. It’s powerful and the reviews are saying no more mosquitoes and it keep patio cooler. Going to try this before getting swamp cooler. The fan I tried and returned didn’t work because not enough air moving. This one might be more than we need and blow us off the patio. Lol. But needs to be strong enough to push air 25’ .
My sister and her SIL both have not had a mosquito bite since getting a certain swamp cooler. But it’s kinda big and needs regular maintenance to keep mosquitoes from breeding inside the unit. During winter do not need the cooling. Basically we will use it like a big fan. Expensive. Hope the high velocity fan works. Might use 2 if necessary. Will know tonight. Will turn it on and sit out there with shorts on.
Lin- the sewing tools are adorable.
Emily- I hope you resolve the issue with seeing your grandson. That’s sad.
Dayle- it’s such an interesting volunteer job you have. I have not applied yet for the one at the service training place yet.

Morning All!
Lin thank you for that link. One of those pewter sewing kits would be a really great gift for my sister, the quilter. She is always so hard to get something for and I am definitely going to pursue it for her birthday. Your observation of my beginner ESL student is probably spot on. I don’t think his reading abilities were that good to begin with, so trying to read, write and speak English just adds to the problem. I am definitely going back to a true beginner approach and see where that leads me. I do so want to see him make some progress.
As to what book I’ve read recently – I’ve kind of been off fiction myself lately. I just finished an autobiography of Willie Nelson and another book “the beginners guide to Buddhism” – something I knew pretty much nothing about. I do have lots of books in the queue – some by Stuart Woods that you ladies recommended, but am waiting for the weather to change before I get into them. I'm trying so hard to be active, right now to keep the weight loss going, that I have become a frenzied walking machine. My knees are screaming in protest for it, but I tape them up and keep going – the rest of me feels the benefits bit time.
Emily hoping the “a lot on your mind” is not any real problem– nor your DIL’s action from the weekend. Things have a way of working themselves out - stepping back and having some patience is often the best course of action, even if what you really want to do is give someone a kick in the pants…. Hope you feel better about everything soon.
Phyl hope the pain subsides soon so you can get back to be the “bummin around” person that you love to be. Willie Nelson sings a song called "Just bumming around" and I think of you every time I hear it. I guess you can tell I’m on a Willie Nelson binge right now. Did you ever notice what a great guitarist he is?
Marilyn that fan sounds like it will do the trick. Careful! That swamp thing sounds like it might blow you across the yard. As to you starting volunteer work, my suggestion is to wait until you have time to dedicate to it and when you find your thing – the thing that makes you feel good inside. What I do – it humbles me all the time, the bravery of these people who come to a country that has got to look and feel totally insane to them. I don’t know – I guess I feel like I get so much more from them than what they get from me.
Have to get going – it is an “OMG glorious day” outside and I plan to go to the walking park.
Hope everyone enjoys what their plans!
Dayle

Been a good day, did get a lot of walking in. We wore masks in the car, I sat in back seat so that was fine, masks in all the stores and we each went different directions. and met back at the check out. At the huge greenhouse we did Christmas Tree Lane, it just opened for the season a bit earlier but with so many tourists coming to check it out they needed time to try to fit everyone in safely. It is gorgeous. A lot of Christmas trees dressed with huge decorations, lot of glitter and shine. Every stuff animal from bears to squirrels and Manger scenes. I saw a beautiful blue tree that I just love. I always seem to lean towards the silver and blue stuff. We didn't get any MUMs there, you couldn't tell what color they were and they were a bit pricy.
We did the greenhouse on way home and I got 3 pots , bronze, red and purple one and when some of the buds pop out more will delivery one each for each DD. One left for me.
Okay lunch was okay, Eat N Park, and masks everywhere all the time except when your food comes. Big booths and only every other one. no buffet and soup area. Paper menu, and not condiments on the table. I was pretty good, just a bit nervous at first. Didn't eat much but that is because I really haven't been eating much for quite awhile. On purpose. Had an omelet and a fruit cup. Iced tea.
Noticed pulling in drive way by sugar maple is showing a lot of red. it is getting really pretty. We have planned a day at the dam, just too look at leaves and have lunch on a picnic table. Maybe take a walk along the lake. Will be a nice day out. Be awhile yet until leaves have reached their peak. Looking forward to that. sometimes I do that all by myself.
Have one more box of fall and Halloween knic knacs to find yet. Will take some time later on today to just go to basement and look until I find them. Also need to bring some totes of clothes up as well. Will see how many trips to the basement I am up for.
