Ginny, you came in while I was vacuuming. I had started that message before I went and vacuumed and washed dishes and forgot to send. Well I've never changed an outlet or a light switch. My father was an electrician and we had to "help" him with all his repairing...now THAT was definitely not fun. Anyway I know how to do it but just never have. My dh is very leary about electricity. I'm not. We have changed a few ceiling fixtures with me telling dh that he won't be electrocuted and which wires go with which. Our ds knows how to do all that stuff...electrical things, plumbing, etc. He learned it all by getting videos from the library and then he was in bio med in the army so learned how to repair medical equipment. He's not concerned at all about being electrocuted.

Just saw a news bulletin saying the President and first lady have tested positive for Covid 19. It remains to be seen whether or not they actually become symptomatic. Prayers for them are very needed no matter what your political position is

Good morning everyone...still morning here for 7 more minutes.
Well the plumber got here and hour before they said he would and luckily I had just finished getting dressed. After he finished tightening everything and trying running the water he found that it still was leaking and decided it was a factory defect. So now, even though it states in big letters and also someone at the store told me, don't take it back to the store, that's what the woman on the phone from the Rheem company told me to do. So they said we could reinstall ourselves or we could have someone else do it but I think we will probably do it ourselves rather than wait even longer to have hot water. So now we have to drain it and disconnect everything and start over. And Ginny, you wouldn't have any problem installing one. It's really easy now that they have Shark bites. No soldering needed.
Since he got here so early I didn't even have time to crochet while waiting.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm sorry to hear the plumber couldn't fix the water heater problem, but I hope that once you and your DH get it disconnected the store will take it back and give you another one. I'm glad it's not too hard to install and you can do it yourselves. I went out this morning and went by the bank and got some groceries. I didn't really need a whole lot of groceries, mostly dairy items, but I did pick a few things that I like of this store's brand. I should be good for several weeks again. Since I stopped wiping the groceries off, the shopping is a lot easier. I'm even getting a bit used to wearing the mask I haven't done any crafting today, and probably won't. On grocery shopping days I mostly relax in the afternoon. I do hope to get some quilting done this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well and that you can do some crafting. Have a great weekend

Ruth, well that is good that its a factory defect.....I know you and Dh are so capable, but if Rheem (major plumbing house) is offering to install a new one, I might be tempted to take that. But then you want hot water....so I can also understand being tired of playing pioneer woman. Agree, we should be praying for our President....and the First Lady.
CJ, glad you got some errands done and are good for a few more weeks now. Yes, we can get used to these masks- even though its not the most fun thing. Knowing you you will be checking out blogs or magazines.....and find some crafting inspiration there.
I visited with Dd#1 this am.....after some work. Then got to run some errands too. Covid cases are up slightly here, and I figured that it would be better to run those errands today instead of tomorrow when those who work Monday - Friday are more likely to shop. I was able to get the additional yarn I need for the pocket shawl, so I can continue working on that.
Gotta go check out baby quilts to make

got some crocheting done- and I think I am approaching the halfway point on this shawl. So glad I got the yarn to finish it too...
I am waiting to hear from my niece to let me know if she is having a little girl or a little boy. think I will try to find a baby panel in the right gender....and go with that. the panels make an easy baby quilt and less costly too.
So glad tomorrow is Saturday and hopefully I can sleep in a little bit.

I'm glad to hear that you both were able to get out to get needed supplies. It's also good to hear that you were able to get the yarn you needed to complete the shawl Ginny.I was going to ask who was having the baby but now that you mentioned your neice I do remember you telling us.My dd was given a baby quilt once. It was made with a Precious Moments panel and one of my favorite things in Precious Moments.
CJ, yes there will be time on the weekend to work on crafting. I become exhausted to when shopping and don't usually do much for the rest of the day except for essential things.I know you'll find some nice links on the weekend too.
I'm still not sure what dh wants to do regarding the installation of the heater. We'll probably take it back on Monday and get the new one then the next day he might decide to install. Otherwise I have to contact the company and get a new authorization from them. I forget what they call it.I should make them install because of the inconvenience it was to me to have bought a defective one but that only means more inconvenience because they have an online form and I'd have to find someplace to go to make a copy of that and the invoice and then wit

Ruth,it sounds like a bit of a process trying to get the manufacturer to install the new water heater....Don’t blame you for not wanting to wait for a plumber to do this for you. That being said, it will be twice the work to put a new one in. It sure sounds like a lot of work to get the forms filled out copied and submitted.....just hope you get your hot water tank back in soon!!!!
Went for a walk with Dd#2 this am.....now will work on my bible study material for a little while....then work on the Christmas Panel quilt
BBL to see who checks in Ginny

I just want to thank everyone on the good wishes to me on my water heater. Yes it's a little challenging to try to be clean when you have to warm water on the stove but we do what we have to do.
Ginny, you get in a lot of good exercise. I wish I could say that I do. the day the plumber was here..well yesterday... I saw on my fitbit that I walked up the stairs 12 times so there was some exercise there. Is your dd coming for dinner today? And it sounds like you have a fully planned day and evening.
CJ, you're so quiet today. Are you looking at quilting sites or watching your favorite tv programs?
Sue, I hope all is going ok with you
Phyl, I know you're keeping busy as usual
I got cowl #5 done and one more to go. I worked yesterday and the day before a little bit on one but I ripped that one out because I did it with a waffle stitch which is a big yarn eater. It was being made with Premier Sweet roll yarn. I have about six colors of that and have two of each of those but then I went to get the second of the color I was using I found that I didn't have a second roll of it so out it came and I started the one I just finished instead. Now I'm thinking that I should make something similar for the two little boys and use the vehicle buttons I have on them. I don't know that they will actually be button cowls that are buttoned the same as the girl's cowls but I still put those novelty buttons on even if they aren't used for buttoning. I could do both of those in no time at all since the boys are little.
It's a beautiful day here.

Hi Ruth, I wonder what you will make for the little boys....! think the novelty buttons will really add a nice touch And will really be stand outs... I cannot believe you made 5 cowls and are making another one. Never used the premier sweet roll yarn- is it a size 4 yarn and easy to work with?
So- I tried to start sewing - forgot how to make a bobbin with my new machine, but that came back quickly after I re read the instructions. Made a small mistake sewing the corner blocks and ripped that out and will fix the mistake tomorrow. I felt so silly. I did crochet a row or two....think will read or watch television.
Sue- have you been able to meet with hospice yet?
CJ- bet you have found more pretty quilt patterns to work on. Hope that your weather has been similar to mine. Nice fall weather.
Phyl, how are you feeling?? Hoping to hear that you are pain free.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hello Crafters Ruth - I hope things work out this coming week with the water heater. I've had some water heater problems too, so I understand how it is not having hot water. Those cowls sound really pretty, and I love all the different novelty buttons that are available now. Ginny - Your walk sounds nice. Hoe you are able to work on the Christmas panel. I still pull out my sewing machine manual for some things It was a pretty day here, cool but sunny. I had the blinds open to get some heat from the sun since I'm determined not to turn on the furnace yet. I did check out a lot of quilt blogs today and saved a bunch of pretty pictures. I watched a video from Jordan Fabrics too. It was for a quilt that looks like a Pineapple Quilt but the blocks were assembled in strips. It looks like it would be fun to make. I have a Creative Grids Pineapple Block ruler that I'm still waiting to use. It's on my list If anyone is interested in the link to the video, let me know and I'll post it along with another one of a red, white and blue pineapple block quilt. The color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for October is YELLOW. I have my fabrics already starched, pressed and cut out. I hope to get the hourglass and bowtie blocks made soon. I would like to work on a quilt with fall fabrics, but need to figure out what pattern. I was thinking of maybe a Disappearing 9 Patch. Take care everyone!

hb is not eligible for hospice because he can still shower, get dressed, walk. He's not incontinent. And I'm available to monitor or do the other things, like drive, shop, pay bills, do housework. He can have home health care, but we have to pay for it. The social worker had a few good ideas, but basically we're still in limbo land.
I'm working on reorganizing my day so things work better for me, but at the end of the day, there are always important things that haven't gotten done because I can't do one more thing.
I am accumulating a list of things to be done in the house someday after covid 19. In the meantime I try to ignore them. I am far from a perfectionist, but this is too much. Covid has really messed up a situation where I was able to comfortably get the help that was needed without having to worry about introducing a disease into the house.
So it's the same story.

Good morning, Sue, that must be so very disappointing for you- and even harder to post online that your Dh is not eligible for hospice care. Hope that the good ideas that the social worker had are easy to implement and offer some relief for you. My quilting buddy’s DFIL has Alzheimer's and I know the struggles that family is going through providing respite care and support for her DMIL , I know there are memory care support groups, and I wonder if there is one available that you could participate in. Virtual meetings are not the best...but surely better than not meeting at all and might provide some Support for you. And if you need the help, I hope that you have the resources to hire to get help... Covid will pass, eventually. This is just a speed bump in our lives and in due time things will ease up and you will feel more comfortable bringing contractors into your home. I could be wrong, but I think once we get into spring of 2021, Covid won’t be gone, but between good public hygiene, vaccines and therapies we will feel much better about the situation.
CJ- oh, can I see a disappearing 9 patch quilt in fall colors!! that would look just like a pile of fall leaves- so pretty. The pineapple quilt made in strips sounds like an awesome project!! Does it require a jelly roll? Of course you can make your own 2 1/2 in ch strips yourself....its just a lot of work to do so.Someday I would love to hear the history of how you got into quilting...you seem to have a lot of your own personal history in the craft and the tools to make lovely quilts.... I love yellow....isnt the rainbow scrap challenge almost at the end?? Hard to believe but a new season of BOM’s will start up soon.
Heard from my niece and she is having another boy. I am leaving it to her to tell me if she prefers a quilt or an afghan. Personally I am leaning toward a simple quilt, but am waiting for her to tell me what color scheme etc...... And last night in my excitement to start on the Christmas panel quilt I made a minor mistake. I ripped out the problem- and now its pinned and ready to be sewn again. Honestly it was a dumb mistake on my part.
going out for a walk in this lovely cool weather and then off to church . BBL Ginny

Sue, from the little I know of HOspice and from what you said, I thought your hubby was probably not eligible. I know this is a big disappointment for you and a frustrating situation. When the plumber came to my home the other day he did have a mask. The only problem I ran into was after he called the Rheem company and they wanted to talk to me and he handed me his phone but he did say that he had it on speaker so at least he wasn't breathing on it. I think all the companies are having their employees take precautions. YOu could also tell one to leave if they weren't abiding by the need to follow guidelines
Ginny, sorry about the mistake but I know you'll get it done and beautifully.
Yes various shades of yellow are so pretty CJ, I hope that once you get this quilt top done that you will post a picture.I don't know what a disappearing nine patch or a pineapple look like so I'm going to look it up
I'm almost done crocheting the sixth cowl and I need to clarify that I'm done with the crocheting part, yes, but I still have to sew on the buttons. I think I'll change my plan about the boy's cowls and get busy making the new viking hats. I think they'll like those better anyway. Then all the wrapping and packing will begin but I have a lot I have to do this coming week so I don't know how much I'll get done. I can't believe it's Sunday again already

I went and looked. I have to confess that I didn't think I'd like the pineapple quilt. I do though. Most of the ones I saw were beautiful. I guess I was on Etsy because these were all for sale. I saw a log cabin with a star in the middle. I don't think I"ve ever seen a log cabin like that before. It's really nice. I won't be buying it though. They're selling it for $340 which is certainly a reasonable price but out of my price range. I once saw a baby quilt at a craft show in the mall and she was selling it for $35. I wanted to ask her if she was crazy. It was fantastic and should have been priced way higher. If my dh wasn't with me I would have bought it but he would have thought that was a ridiculous price (it was only not in the way he was thinking...as I said, should have been higher" This was back probably about 25 years ago but even then the price was too low. My dh sometimes doesn't realize how much things are worth
