Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello.

My yard is a craft project in progress with all the leaves at various stages of changing colors! I'm going to try to take some photos this afternoon.
I had a six month extension on my taxes, so taking them to the CPA the morning was a great feeling. I am not very good at doing a little bit every month, so it's a challenge when I get around to it. I used to have everything sorted and in order. I think my organization skills took a big hit when I hit my head six years ago. Fatigue doesn't help.
Peaches was convinced that she was going to tree a raccoon last night, and wouldn't come in. After half an hour I put a dog bed outside. She came in at five, and I went right back to sleep some nights I sleep well, and some I don't.

Sue, enjoy natures quilting show- the patchwork made of fall colors in the leaves....so very pretty. Glad you are able to enjoy the lovely colors. Its such a special time of year... Glad you had an extension on your taxes and got them taken care of today. I can imagine that is quite a burden lifted - one less thing to be concerned about. The IRS is way behind processing taxes this year anyway, but I am happy for you that this is one box you can check off and know its done. No, fatigue does not help any of us. You sound like me, sometimes (not often) I leave a little bed outside for my indoor/outdoor cat - who I get in 99% of the time. Peaches might have really wanted that raccoon but was smart enough to know that being inside and warm and cozy is a much better option. WIth all the fuss we go through for our furbabies, complete with losing sleep....it sure does make you wonder why we keep them??? But they are entertaining and loveable. Hope you are able to rest well tonight.
Worked this am- then Dd came over with both DGS and DGD#2. They came for a late breakfast.....good to see them. Dd kept DGS home as he had a sniffle- that is just how things are in this covid world. I did get the borders sewn and ironed on the panel quilt. Tomorrow I will attach them....and then get ready to make the quilt sandwich.
Have a good night all G

Sue, it's not as colorful here as it is in your area. We have leaves turning gold and some bushes that have a little bit of red but that's one thing I miss about the east is the colorful leaves in the fall. Can't relate to the pet issue as I don't have any. I really don't have patience for one.
Today I helped dh disconnect the water heater and get it into the truck all set to go back tomorrow. I called them and explained so in case there was a problem I could take care of it today. She said bring paperwork. Only paper work I have is my receipt so we'll see how it goes tomorrow. I don't know if dh will work on installing it Wed while I'm out taking care of licenses, etc or if he will wait until Thurs when I'm home in case he needs help
I had cowl #6 almost done and then noticed I had a mistake way back at the third row so pulled it all out and started a completely different one with that yarn. The yarn which was Lion pound of Love in antique white was really not good for using for that particular cowl anyway. They said #4 but POL is pretty thin so it all kind of pulled to the side which also happened to the crocheter on the video. Then I received the yarn that dh bought me which is Red Heart with Love so I started the cowl I pulled out with the new yarn so I have two going now at the same time. RHWL is a thicker #4 yarn.I didn't work on cowls at all yesterday. Instead I made a couple hats including a new Viking one and got horns put on one Viking hat. Made another for donation.
Ginny, the reason I can get so much done is because I have a LOT of time. I don't work or babysit. I know there's a lot I could do around here but that's not as enjoyable
Hello also to CJ and Phyl and all you lovely readers who just read our thread. Feel free to join in as Ginny said above in the intro

hi girls Today was my yearly check up with the PA and going over my c-pap report. compared to two years ago I am doing good.
when I went to the sleep clinic two years ago I had to meet 25 things or percent to meet the needs for having A machine. today I am at .04 percent. which means I am doing better then when I was getting 3 hours or awake most of the
then it was to Walgreens to get a tube of Abreva for a cold sore. boy has that hat price gone up since many years ago. seems my lip always gets the cold sore in the same spot.
have not been doing much quilting or any other craft .phyl

Good morning all- Phyl good to see you here....that is good news that your C-pap report showed such an improvement. It must have been horrible being awake most of the night and existing on only 3 hours of sleep. I don’t understand all the units of measure for needing a C-pap, but I am really glad for you that you are doing so well. Yes its a shocker that Abreva jumped up so much in cost. I dont know about Walgreens- the nearest Walgreens is about 5 miles from me, but I know that CVS really does not have great prices unless they have a special sale. I tend to try to get items like that at Walmart, if I can...but that is also a distance from my house. What are you thinking about working on next?? With Thanksgiving and Christmas In the not too distant future- well, you have mentioned that you have supplies for some Christmas projects. Anyway, I hope you are feeling well and get your crafting momentum back. All in good time and when you are ready.
Ruth, I think that one of us ought to make a superwoman cape for you. You cook, can make almost anything out of yarn and a crochet hook, and are assisting Dh in the world of plumbing. Glad to hear that the nasty hot water tank is on the truck and ready for return. Perhaps see if someone at the store you are returning it to will provide an email address for you to forward your email correspondence to - didn’t Rheem email the return instructions to you? I know you cannot print out - but perhaps you can forward the emails. We have had this discussion before, but I don’t get yarn sizing either. How they can call two yarns the same gauge (or #) is beyond me. I know supersaver and POL are both #4 yarns and are very different in thickness. Makes no sense to me at all. So sorry that you had to rip out cowl #6. Sure seems like you regrouped and were productive anyway. Was cowl#6 supposed to be in the box to be shipped?? Glad you got busy on the Viking hats again, I think those are supposed to be sent in the box to your family. And good luck on Wednesday getting your license renewed...are you able to make an appointment to take care of that transaction so that you can minimize the wait?
Got to Bible study last night- good study and time of fellowship. Feels strange just being home today, as I was not asked to go into work. (They did not need another extra driver today). Got some projects planned to do here today, and I want to get a walk in. Its a bit humid here today but good enough weather. I want to start to put together the panel quilt at some point- after I get a few household things done.

Oh- I made a minor modification to our “intro”- to welcome those who are just not crafting at all, but reading. (Reading this thread counts as crafting, right?). Let me know what you think, or even if I should shorten the intro. At one point one of the moderators suggested that we might get more traffic if the thread was moved from making connections to another area (I forget which one). Or we can stay here, just as we are...maybe its a good idea to discuss where we post and how we welcome folks.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Sounds like you've made good progress on your panel quilt, hope you can get the sandwich put together soon. Also hope you were able to take a walk and get things done around the house. I think the introduction to our thread is fine. I'm sure all the current members have looked around at all the threads and join when they want to and new members would also check things out and find us. Ruth - Hope things go well with the water heater return and your errands today. Phyl - I'm glad to hear your medical test results for your c-pap. I was shocked how expensive those cold sore medicines are now too! Any cold sore I get is always in the same place too, it's kind of interesting the way our bodies work like that. Sue - Thinking of you and hoping things are going well today with your DH. I finished making all my yellow broken dishes, bowtie and hourglass blocks for the October Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Now I'm ready to put the quilt tops together - I have blocks for 4 different tops. I've already decided how to put the bowtie quilt tops together, but I'm still thinking a bit on the hourglass and broken dishes blocks. I think the hourglass ones might need to be sashed since they don't look good close to each other - there's just not enough contrast since all the fabrics are mostly lights and mediums. And the broken dishes blocks are so small and bulky with all the seams that they might do better sashed too. The second block for the FaLaLa Sew Along came out yesterday and I've already finished it. It was a quick block and very pretty. A whole quilt in this block would be nice. I'll share a few pictures in a separate post. The weather here is so pretty - sunny and mild in the low 70s. I'm really enjoying having the blinds open after it being so dark inside the house all summer. Take care everyone

Good evening!! CJ- you do make me smile...just a day or so ago you were not inspired- and commenting on that you had not done any crafting. Yet today you have already made the new block in the Falala sew along and are considering making a whole quilt of them! I signed up for the Fa la la sew along and then realized I had better stick with what I have on tap and deleted the new block. Will pull it out of my trash and see what it is all about. I do love blocks 1 and 2 above and how that swirl fabric just seems to unite the blocks....Think I like block 2 just a little better than block one (although both are made beautifully by you!). But then i look at them again and like block 1 better. Aw they are both really pretty. Yes that is a struggle when blocks have so many seams that its a challenge to combine them- had that happen with several of the blocks on that BOM. I can see that happening for sure with broken dishes, which I think is such a pretty block. Hurray for cooler and sunny weather....and its great that you are enjoying it. Me too- its time to let the sun shine in, and the angle of the sun is much prettier this time of year too. Not so intense and just a soft gentle light.
I got no crafting done today- well not in that I got a darned thing done. Other than my walk, I stayed in and got stuff done. I am having the wood burner repaired in 2 weeks, needed to order the part for that.....also had to sign up for a class I need to take....my crafting for the day was to get the new stitch in the ditch foot and walking foot, which my dealer dropped off at my house. So at least I can start playing with those feet once I get further along with the panel quilt. I also resumed cleaning up some paperwork-which I just needed to do. Got a few days of paperwork ahead of me, just things to straighten out.
Hope everyone had a good day....will try to come back later to see who checked in Ginny

CJ- I really like the red and white pineapple quilt....(went back and checked that out). It reminds me of a historical quilt that I saw 2 years ago at a quilt show. I agree, the red and white color scheme is very dramatic and pretty.

CJ, once again you are sharing with us beautiful work. I like the second block just a little touch more than the top one although they'er both beautiful and you do such good work.
Ginny, glad to hear you got your two feet today. It will be fun trying them both. And while you may not have got much done in crafting you did do other things and that will free time for you to craft on another day.
You would not believe the paperwork involved in exchanging a defective water heater. And what I did in relation to the email is too a picture of the email with my phone and put it in the phone gallery and it's a good thing I did because, although the cashier didn't ask to see it, I showed it to her anyway then the manager came over and told her not to forget to get a copy of the Rheem companies authorization. She told him I had it in my phone and he said that he, personally, had to see it too. Then he practically accused us of doing something that caused the water heater problem so I emphatically but kindly told him that the plumber, not a store manager, stated that it was a factory defect. So then they were overbearingly helpful and even got someone to go back and get a replacement heater and take it to our truck. We didn't need that help and they sure didn't do that when we bought the defective one two weeks ago.
I did more ripping out this morning on that last cowl. I always advise people to stop and count every couple rows to that they don't end up having to rip out a lot but then I don't follow my own advice. So I checked the whole thing this morning and noticed that it had become narrower quite a few rows back.I almost decided to forget this one and do another but I'm too stubborn for my own good so started working on it again and now that all the turmoil of the days is hopefully over I can work on it. Besides the home improvement store we went to Dominoes to get dh pizza and dh was livid because the girl came out with th4e pizza and handed it to me instead of putting it in the back seat as they are supposed to do.

Ruth, What a shame that the staff at Dominoes obviously lost touch with the idea of contact free delivery. I figure that the young woman meant well- and was not well trained or not trained at all. Hope Dh calmed down quickly - and that the pizza was a nice treat. Good idea that you had a picture of the email from the company on your phone.....still it was nice of the store to load the new heater on your truck, especially knowing that you had to come back to that store to pick up the new heater and will spend precious time installing it. Hoping that the new heater is perfect and goes in flawlessly. Me too......whenever I get ahead of myself and forget to count every few rows I get into trouble.Hope you can finish that cowl and move onto to something else. G

Just checking in to say good morning....I participated in a zoom call last night (a first for me to use zoom) with several members of my high school graduating class. Not a bad experience, but I really doubt I will do that again. Two individuals chose to go political...and I was just not totally taken up with the process and must say that I am in contact with the individuals that i really want to stay in contact with and do not need a zoom meeting for that. Got some errands to run this morning and then will be doing some yard work. And I hope to play with that walking foot a bit to see how it works on my machine.
CJ, Ruth, Phyl, Rene(we miss you!) and Sue- hope each of you has a good day.. G

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad you were able to do the zoom call. I'm just too suspicious of the internet to ever do one of those Hope you have nice weather to do the yard work and that you get to play with your walking foot. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get another water heater and I sure hope this one works fine when you hook it up. It seems like very few business transactions are easy anymore. Sorry to hear about the problem with the employee at Dominos. That would have upset me too since I've tried so hard to limit close up exposure to the virus. I decided to make a fall/autumn version of the FaLaLa Sew Along blocks and made them this morning. Here are pictures of Block 1, Block 2, and Blocks 1 and 2 together. I'm a little disappointed with my choice of the dark green rectangles in Block 2, since they are all I can see when I look at it But I try to look at the white in that block so I can see the churn dash shape. I'll just try to add some dark green in the next blocks to tie them in together since I'm determined not to take that block apart Hope everyone has a great day. The weather here is beautiful, sunny and around 80 today. Hope your weather is nice too.
