This is another very windy day. I see snow in the forecast for the next week, freezing temps at night, 40s during the day. Summer lasted forever, and then it was cold!
Monday is closing day for my sister's house. A mobile notary is supposed to bring the paper to me tomorrow. I hope it all goes smoothly on Monday.
Time to focus on my Apple Watch. I will probably need an expert to piece all my technology together! Sort of like a quilt

Hunter green is one of my favorite colors....I love deep green. Its so restful. Gotta laugh Ruth, you found ANOTHER cowl pattern??? That is sort of like CJ finding another quilt pattern. Aw you are both in good company here and its so nice that we can try different patterns. I have my share of UFO’s also. Sorry that the bulky yarn did not work out- or the pattern or both.... What color yarn are you working with now for that pretty cowl? Sewing buttons on a cowl is not nearly as stressful as putting on buttons. You will set your mind to it in a day or so and get that done. I get it, you just had to see how that new pattern worked out!!!
I did get about 5 rows done on the pocket shawl. Its a little over half done and I am anxious to finish it. I did switch to the new skein of yarn (which I had to buy) and there are 2 subtle differences- the color is slightly different and the thickness of the yarn is a bit different too. Its not super noticeable, but when you go to switch skeins its slightly noticeable.
time for me to turn the TV off and read. Have a good night all Ginny

Sue- sorry I missed your post.....I am sure that the closing will go just fine- and even if there are some snags you will not be there to be stressed by it! Congrats on getting that done....I know the closing is Monday but it does sound as though it is inevitable. I am happy for you- one less stressor in your life. Sorry about the cold weather...but we are heading into that time of year where we can stay in and crochet or knit or craft. If you have an apple phone then the Apple Watch is not that bad to use. My kids got me one because it sends out alerts about high or low heart rates. My biggest complaint about the watch is that it really does not come with directions. Everything must be looked up online. Hope you have a good weekend.... G

Happy Saturday all!!! CJ- I forgot to mention, yes we did get the rain that you had yesterday. The Northeast needed the rain, so it kept me inside doing stuff that I should have taken care of, like quilting. Today its supposed to be much cooler and a freeze warning is predicted for tonight. Think I will get my lemon tree in this morning, and when Dd gets here, get the Orange tree in. They both usually come in around Halloween and I have already started to bring in my outdoor/indoor plants.
I slept ok last night. Did get a few rows of crocheting in. This morning Dd and I am heading to BJ’s to check out some rugs for her and do some grocery shopping. They have nice rugs for cheap and I know she wants to get some for her family room. Hope we can do this early before the stores get crowded.
Still have to watch the entire video for the walking foot....and its with a little bit of trepidation that I try to figure out how I am going to finish the panel quilt. Obviously, I don't want to mess it up.
Better get busy before I head out for a while this morning. G
See ya later

Good morning Ginny and all who stop in. Ginny, I hope you have a good and successful shopping trip with your dd.It sounds as if you are coming right along on the pocket shawl and will have it done soon. You are definitely a multi tasker.
Sue I never have had any apple products so can't really help. If it's like Ginny said and it gives you alerts for high and low heart rates mine would be alerting all the time because I have a very slow but normal heartrate. Not normal in numbers but it doesn't cause a problem
I think I went thru about 6 cowls patterns yesterday, trying them then ripping out. Now I'm on one that is on youtube that I thought was an entirely different one but since I started it I decided to stick with it even though the stitch makes it so that it's going to take me forever to get it done. It may sit here for awhile waiting for me to get back to it. Yes everytime I go to a site or to youtube I have to check out the available patterns and there always seems to be more and more of some that I like. I especially like these smaller things such as cowls and earwarmers since most of my yarn stash is comprised of only one skein of each color.Depending on a person's helght, pocket shawls take at least 700 yards of yarn. Speaking of pocket shawls and colors, my dh talked about two of my pocket shawls being colors and pattern he really likes. They are shades of gray. One is RHSS ombre and the other is Lion Ice cream in gray tones

Hello Crafters Sue - Hope everything goes well with the closing on Monday. Ginny - Hope the shopping went well today. Ruth - I think that afghan in hunter green will be really pretty. I like all the ombre yarn and fabrics too. Hope you can find a cowl pattern that you like. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. It's a sunny day here, but cooler around 60. But we're supposed to be back in the 70s this coming week. I have an email address that I just use for my Amazon account and I usually only check the mail every few months (need to do better at that). I went in there today and there were several emails (supposedly from Amazon) saying that my account was suspended due to unusual activity. Some were from a few days ago and some a bit farther back. They wanted you to click a link in the email to reactivate your account. I'm pretty sure they are phishing emails to get access to my Amazon account since I've been able to log into my account fine and I've bought books for my Kindle with no problem. I didn't click on any of them, but it sure is irritating how you can't have anything without criminals getting involved. Remember I mentioned the helicopter I heard the other night? I read today that someone was shot and killed about a mile from my house that night, and that helicopters were out looking for the suspect. I'm sad to say that it doesn't even shock me anymore to read about something like this, it's just so common in my county and of course in Washington, D.C. I finished the two quilt blocks for the FaLaLa Sew Along and I'll post pictures in a separate post below. I'm happy with how they have come out. I'll also post a picture of the finished Bowtie quilt. This quilt has 42 different fabrics in it. The blocks are about 9 inches in size and they are quick to make. And I picked out the fabrics for the Autumn Jubilee Quilt and got them pressed and starched so I hope to cut all the pieces this weekend and start sewing them. I'm excited to do a row quilt since I've always wanted to do one and never have. Take care everyone

CJ, that must be so frightening to live that close to where a murder has been committed. I really love the autumn colors you picked! I'm anxious to see the whole quilt top when it's done.

Ok so I was just watching a video on my new stitch in the ditch foot, in conjunction with my walking foot. Decided to view a video on scrappy quilts- something that has been in the back of my head. Check out this video- think Ruth might really like the second scrappy quilt she shows, it has a more coordinated look. Very inspiring video for sure. youtu.be/mEROi6myQ9s

Hey CJ- Are you kidding me??? I was the queen of lazy and put my panel quilt on the floor to take a picture. That is lazy! Anyway, I LOVE your quilts....the bow tie is so colorful. Love how it appears to have zones of color- one side is more blues and greens and the other reds- oranges-purples etc.....Nice job putting it together. Its amazing how the Falala quilt changes appearance when you change fabrics...having more saturated colors in the Christmas quilt makes those blocks look quite different from the fall/pumpkin blocks. (Really find the pumpkin fabric adorable!!). You have every right to be happy with how these came out. They came out great!! Funny thing- I got an “email” from Amazon about a month ago-it was some sort of notification that my amazon account had been used to buy an IPhone and to click on the link to remove the purchase from my account. I did not click on the link. The first thing I did was to check my account (logging in without their link) to see if there was an IPhone in my cart or if one had been purchased. No on both accounts....then I emailed amazon and told them what had happened. Pretty quickly I heard from them- they instructed me to change my password (which I did) and that the email was phishing. If you still have the email, forward it to amazon, and change your password to be safe. Indeed that is unnerving and scarey that there was such a horrible crime like that near you. I keep reading about the number of violent crimes going up- some because of the covid shutdown and the desperation that is bringing to some folks. Glad you are safe..... looking forward to the Autumn Jubilee quilt.
Ruth, so that explains why I needed more yarn, if most of these pocket shawls need 700 yards of yarn. One skein of POL should have done it, but I have used that for 2 baby afghans....and needed to buy more. It does sound as though you need to make something for Dh from a nice grey yarn... whether it be a hat, labghan, a scarf....pillow...Gee I have never seen that Ice cream yarn in grey tones....its so very pretty. Both yarns are....I saw a bernat afghan on Joanns web site that was made from grey yarns (blanket yarn) that was magnificent. It looked super easy and I was so tempted to buy the yarn the other day with free shipping. But I do not need another new project. Yet.....ha ha ha. Anyway did you really take those cowls apart? I love how you are always looking for new stitches and patterns to learn. Its very inspiring to me.
I did get the lemon tree in- and will wait another week for the orange tree to come in. I did cover the orange tree with a tarp- so it won’t be in trouble with a light frost. Did watch the video on my walking foot and the new stitch in the ditch foot works with it!! So cool. Then I watched the scrappy quilt video, which has me inspired to do one of them. I will not quilt tonight but crochet and I did get some crafting in by watching those videos.
As far as the Apple Watch goes, you can set your alerts for whatever is best for you . Mine is set for 40bpm low heart beat and 120bpm high. And I think it has to be a sustained level, one slight momentary high or low value does not alert. the technology drives me nuts sometimes and the watch is a bit moody- I know little of all that it does. Hope that Sue figures it out (I am sure she will). And there is a fair amount of internet knowledge on it.
I am tired. Time to crochet. Ginny

Thanks Ruth - I'm looking forward to seeing how the person doing this sew along has us finish these.
Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get your lemon tree and hopefully can get the orange tree in next week. My DB and DSIL had a lemon tree they kept in their sunroom. It was so fascinating to see the lemons growing on it. I'm glad the walking foot is working well too.
Thanks for that video, that is a great way to use scraps and very easy. I do have trouble with using all scraps in all quilt, I need a more controlled look like her second quilt. I do have a lot of scraps and I hope one day to get them organized by size so I can use more of them.
That ruler she uses at the beginning is my favorite ruler that I have. I use it for almost every project. And I also use it to fold fabric.
I was able to get my fabrics for the other Autumn quilt pressed and starched and hope to get them cut by tomorrow so I can start working on the blocks. I think I'll do the tree blocks first since I like them.

Ginny, you were so right. I do like the second one better. On the first one I'd be one of the people she talked about who would try to get them to match. I do love the idea of using up small pieces of fabric though. That and using small amounts of yarn that's left over
CJ, meant to comment on your Amazon email. I got one like that that was supposed to be from Discover. It looked exactly like it was from them with the logo and all. I emailed them...didn't respond to the email that was sent to me of course and yes it was definitely phishing. Last week I got several supposedly from Netflix warning me that if I didn't click that link by Netflix would be cancelled. Then they actually had the nerve to send one that said that since I ignored them my Netflix was cancelled and I needed to click their link to get it back. Well I don't have Netflix. If I did I'd either call or email the real Netflix but since I don't even have an account with them I just sent it to my email provider that has a link to send them any phishing that's sent to you.
This morning while chatting with dh I crocheted on that cowl I mentioned...the alternating stitch one and this evening have been working on dgs' afgan. Dh said that I'm a crochet factory. And Ginny, I do plan on making dh a pocket shawl in pol dark gray. Maybe I need to change that to ombre or variegated grey He wanted one for in his computer room to keep his neck and hands warm. As to the shawl you're making, I don't know how many yards it was that I used to make that same one but I really don't think it was 700 yards but I did make it a child size. I used Lion Brand Heartland which I really like.

So its really Sunday....and another week starts tomorrow?? Every time I get to this point in the week I scratch my head with disbelief where time goes.
CJ- I really liked that woman- the Sewveryeasy videos.....she has a great way of explaining what she is doing without wasting time. Think most quilters have trouble with scraps- and I have seen quilts made with the tiniest of scraps- so even those tiny pieces can be used. It inspires me to save the scraps and now actually have a game plan for using them. good for you getting the fabrics pressed for the autumn quilt. I was wondering if you would take on the maple leaves blocks or the trees first as you had mentioned that both were favorites of yours.
Ruth- yay for Dh.....so you are going to make him a pocket shawl. I have never worked with heartland- what is so nice about that? Now you are inspiring me to buy more yarn....oh, i do not need more yarn.....but would like to try Heartland on a project. Yes, Dh is right, you are a crochet factory!!! glad he will also get a pocket shawl, which I bet he will use!! I did check out the Ava joy (think that is her name) video for total yarn usage- and for the life of me I do not remember what the total usage is, but I did realize that I would have to buy more yarn. Now I am in that part of the shawl which, thankfully is very repetitive, and am just counting until the 140 rows to when I switch back to the final few rows which are all double crochet. The shawl is getting long now, and is nice to work on as it now keeps my lap warm. Last night i was thinking about your Dd and wonder how she is feeling after her procedure....also how is DGD feeling, she is getting ready to enter the second trimester when many women feel a bit better.
Got a few rows in of crocheting last night. After church I will just come home and do hope to get to play with that walking foot and some of my machines decorative stitches. I was inspired by the use of the walking foot and decorative stitches, so that the decorative stitch actually flows right over the seam line....it looked awfully cool and I might attempt that on the panel quilt after I try it out on some scraps.
Hope that Sue is doing well. Think that yesterday the forms for the sale of her sisters house were to be notarized and the closing is tomorrow. Bet she will be relieved to have that taken care of.
Wonder what Phyl is working on? I remember her buying some holiday fabrics...wonder what creative things she will do with that.
BBL Ginny

There's a smithereen of snow on the deck this morning. Temp is 24. I'm going back to sleep for a while!
There is likely to be a flurry of activity on Monday. The mobile notary has contacted me, but I guess the escrow company hasn't sent him the papers yet. It will happen, but this is just another glitch. The time frame was 10 to 4 for signing. When I talked to him, I suggested that since he didn't have the papers yet, that he call when he did. People who work every day can get held up by the Monday to Friday 9-5 workers.
