Stay warm Sue!!!! Time to break out some crocheting or knitting. Bet the dogs will not be happy to get out in the cold and snow. Are you supposed to get much? I have never been through a situation like that - with a squatter....there is probably some sort of grace period (hopefully brief) in which this person has to get himself out. Hoping he is ultimately cooperative and just leaves...do you have pictures of the inside condition of the house as it is now? Hope that this person leaves gracefully. Like you, I enjoy HGTV- its kind of mindless and pleasant enough. I have one show host I cannot stand, so I try to avoid watching her. Sometimes food network is an interesting alternative..
Wood burner/chimney alteration is done. I feel much better now knowing that the modification was made and that I have a good backup heat source. Think Dh knew the installation had âissuesâ but did not want to spend the money to make sure it was not a problem.
So I did start my stitch in the ditch on the panel quilt- itâs going well....I came up with a plan on where I want to stitch, and then the cat sat on it.. So I will let him stay there- he wonât last forever sleeping there. I can work on it later tonight or tomorrow. G

Here too Sue. Snow tomorrow and Sunday and now they updated the weather forecast for Sunday and say the high will be only 14, maybe lower and it might get to -2. Today it's 65 and a great fall day. Nice and sunny. I hope that squatter leaves without problems.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that the stitch in the ditch is working well for you. People in the crochet groups are always posting pictures of their dogs and cats sitting on their projects. Then they ask about how to get hair off of crochet items.
We got home from shopping at the dollar store and doing our pickup at Walmart. I'm really happy with the way they pack things and the veggies they picked out. They picked a nice firm head of lettuce with no "rust" and three really good cucumbers. The bananas they picket are really too green but that's how most people want them so they did their job in picking them and they ripen fast. The other store has an option to put in a note telling them if you have special requests on how you want your veggies and fruits. Walmart doesn't.Then right after we got everything inside the neighbor came over with food. It's interesting what he brings because the person that is sharing this food gets it at the food bank and many times it's the fda packed meat and often doesn't say what it is. Neighbor thought it was pork of some kind and it does look like that might be it.Sometimes I wonder if he's also cleaning out his freezer because a lot of what he brings is frozen.
The reason we went to the dollar store is dh is doing his Christmas shopping online, which of course I tell him not to get me presents but he does anyway. and he told me I needed to pick out a couple little things for him at the dollar store if I insisted on getting him presents. Of course the dollar store doesn't have much in the way of choices but I do like to pick out little things for the children there.I'll order some things for dh online and of course make him things.

Phyl my grandmother had one put in when she was 96 and then lived to be nearly 102. Yes there can be complications but it's unlikely. I'd like to know why she has had this arrhymia. Yes she is older for sure but this came on very suddenly. She hasn't had heart problems before.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's a pretty, warmish, sunny day here. I'm sorry to hear that some of you are going to have really cold weather. Ginny - Hope you feel better soon. I'm still working on the quilt blocks for the Autumn Jubilee and hope to finish them soon, since the next block comes out on Friday. The new block for the Cozy Things quilt along came out yesterday, so I need to figure out fabrics for that one. Hope everyone is getting some crafting in. Have a good day!

Phyl- prayers for Doris that her procedure goes well and she comes through strong. I do not think a pacemaker is a major procedure - yes the heart is a major organ but I think this is a lower risk procedure. Also they would not be attempting it if they thought she would not do well with it. Prayers that is all goes as planned.
Ruth, of course with your background you would know the questions to ask....I know from when my MIL and mom were sick that information is not always consistent and its hard to get the story straight sometimes. Have you figured out what you will be ordering for the kids online for Christmas gifts?? That is always a challenge- finding something that they will like or want.
CJ- how do you keep track of all the projects you are working on? Think I would go crazy juggling the different quilts. Yes we have warmer weather here also. My Ds said rain is scheduled for tomorrow. Then we get cooler temperatures. Thanks for asking, I am feeling better- not 100% but better. this cold seems to be running its course just like Dsâs did- one day of feeling pretty crummy (which was yesterday) and then improvement.
Got some crocheting in this am and hope to work on the quilt during the debate (which I will have on in the background).Or perhaps I will not watch the debate at all. I am voting on Saturday and the debate will not change my mind. I might opt to put something pleasant on TV instead .
Have a good evening all Ginny

I checked the new board name last evening and I like it too.
Ginny, I'm glad you're feeling better. At least the retroviruses don't usually cause complications like the coronaviruses do.
As promised it is very cold today and it did snow and keeps snowing off and on. There's not much accumulation like there was back in the beginning of Sept. There are still broken trees from that storm. Usually our snow is not wet and heavy like that one was. The roads here are very clear. with no plowing needed
CJ, I wonder too how you can keep all those quilts going at one time.Luckily you seem to have a natural talent for picking out fabrics and putting them together so that they look wonderful
Today I made some chicken soup since it's cold and cheated and made some chicken breasts in the oven instead of standing at the stove frying my chicken strips. Dh wanted baked potatoes so I just tossed them in the oven too and there was dinner.I also made more cornbread because the one I made the other day turned out so good that we ate it all.
The only bad thing about my shopping pickup trip was that they didn't have carrots, kefir, or sweet potatoes that I ordered. If I had seen the email in which they told me that I would have emailed back and told them to subsitute another flavor of kefir and a couple 2# bags of carrots. I had ordered a 5# bag because we eat a lot of carrots. They did subsitute frozen mixed veggies for the peas and carrots(wanted to have frozen carrots on hand in case we couldn't get out for another pickup order and they were also out of frozen just carrots) I ordered because they were out of the peas and carrots so I don't know why they didn't sub kefir and carrots.
I did do some crocheting last evening but I had...yes...ripped the cowl out again because I had made it too wide. I wanted it narrower for the youngest dgd and I also don't have much of that particular yarn so with it being narrower there's more of a chance it will come out long enough.
So now that cooking and cleaning is done I will go back to crocheting.

Good morning and Happy Friday all!
Yup and slowly feeling a bit better.
Ruth, well they made some strange substitutions- but like you I keep frozen peas and carrots in the house (I know you said that you asked for carrots.)I sneak peas and carrots into several dinners (shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, chicken and dumplings, soups etc....). I also use canned veg all - which does not seem to be available all the time. Again another way to get veggies in. I have never had kefir- would love to hear what is is used for or how you and Dh enjoy it. Cornbread is so good- I would imagine that you make it from scratch- its so easy to do that!! I went online and found a cornbread recipe that is supposed to be a knock off of Cracker Barrelâs cornbread. Oh, its so good- but NOT low in fat or sugar. Sorry you had to rip out some of that cowl- but it does sound like you will be able to finish the cowl in the yarn you want to. So whatâs next? Once you get the cowls done and everything wrapped and mailed, will you start on Christmas gifts?
Got a fair amount of crocheting done this am, time to count rows and see how close I am to the end. I am unsure if I will put pockets on it or not, but might add a short fringe to the pocket shawl. We shall see. Heading out with Jane later on to take her BOM quilt to the same long armer I used for mine. Surely our time in the car together counts as crafting time, right? Ha ha ha
Hi to CJ, Phyl (let us know how Doris is doing) and Sue. BBL Ginny

Well you're going on this trip for crafting purposes so I'm sure it's gotta count as crafting. Kefir is a beverage much like liquid yogurt. Dh used to drink it. I use it on my oatmeal
I did finally get that cowl done and started another which is almost done. I have all my gifts wrapped. Now I just have to find the right size boxes and pack everything but first have to sew buttons on the cowls before I can tape the boxes closed. And yes, after this is completed which I hope is over the weekend, I will be doing stictly Christmas things and hats.I do have dgs' blanket for Christmas nearly done ad have sil's blanket started but am still on the first row.. I keep finding more patterns that I can use for pocket shawls. I did try the pocket shawls because I thought they might be too short. I found though, that when you put them on and put your hands in the pockets they stretch a little and become a perfect size. I'm glad to hear that you have your's nearly done, Ginny.
I saw that Doris came through the procedure with flying colors. She was already asking for something to eat.
It sure is cold here today and will be even colder on Sunday. It will be a perfect day for crocheting.
